YES! I finally updated. I'm sorry. I'm so so so sorry. You have no idea how much it pained me not being able to write. I'm sorry it took this long. But I hope you enjoy the chapter.
"You aren't serious," Elsa laughed.
"What?" Jack's confused voice buzzed over the phone.
"You seriously have 'change Elsa's mind about vanilla' on your resolution list,"
"Right here, written in blue ink and everything."
"Well you can scratch it off right now,"
"I've changed your mind?"
"More like you're never going to change my mind."
"What's that saying? Never say never?"
"People who say that are talking about finding life on other planets, or Lakia having a sucky Halloween fair. Very unlikely to happen, but not impossible. They are not, however, talking about my love of vanilla."
"Oh, that was cold Winters,"
"It's what I do best,"
"I guess I could shelve that particular resolution for now. But, maybe not forever,"
"Just read the rest of your list Frost,"
Jack chuckled, "Alright, where was I…" It was late in the afternoon, on the last day of the year. During their usual phone call the couple had decided to exchange New Year's resolutions.
"Okay," Jack continued, "Procrastinate less,"
Elsa snorted, "Good luck with that. I've had that on my list three years in a row,"
"Yeah? And how'd it go?"
"I've had it on my list for three years,"
"Point taken. Mh, I'm probably not going to manage that one either. Next is 'Defeat Disney in hockey match.' I think that's going to be the first one off my list," Jack's smile was evident in his voice. Elsa snorted again.
"This isn't a New Year's resolution list. It's a list of stuff that's not gonna happen."
"Never say never princess,"
Elsa sighed fondly adjusting her cell phone from one ear to the other, "I'm not going saying anything else on that particular resolution."
"Fair enough. Next one, don't argue with Bunny so much,"
"I don't know Aster well enough to make an informed critic on that."
"You know you don't have to all critic my resolutions, right?"
"I don't have to. It's my pleasure."
Jack made an exasperated sound but continued reading from his list, "Well, I'm almost done. Improve on my grades,"
"You're grades aren't that bad, sure, from you've told me they could be better. But they're not bad."
"That was almost a kind comment.
"Oh, funny Jack."
"This is the last. Talk to Elsa everyday."
"Everyday?" Elsa smiled.
"Think I can manage it?"
"Maybe. If you're motivated enough."
"I get to hear your voice. That motivation enough for me."
"You are such a sap,"
"And don't you forget it. Okay, okay. Now you have to read me your list."
"Alright," Elsa picked up the paper on her desk. "Frist, get the hang of Spanish tenses."
"I wish you luck with that endeavor,"
"Learn a new stake move,"
"Wait, there are a maneuvers that you don't know?"
"Shocking, isn't it?" Elsa laughed, "I may be good, but I'm no ice skating god,"
"Could have fooled me princess,"
Elsa laughed again, "And try something I've never done before,"
"Oh, that's a good one. Mind if I steal it?"
"Go ahead, maybe that's something we could do together,"
"I like the sound of that. Is that your entire list?"
"I didn't see the point of writing down a bunch of stuff, most of which I'm probably not going to do anyway."
"Fair point. So, what are the plans for tonight?"
"Well mom and dad are going to his office's party and Anna and I are going to Disney's end of year bash at Snow White's."
"That sounds like fun,"
"Probably going to be a little crazy, knowing my school mates."
"Fun, crazy, same thing, aren't they?"
"Not exactly," Elsa laughed.
"They are for me,"
"Mmh, maybe I should add 'rethink current relationship' to my list."
"Hey!"
"I'm joking." Se teased.
"You'd better be."
"Does DreamWorks have any plans for tonight?"
"Oh yeah. Alex is hosting a party too. Everyone's going."
"Guess we're both going to parties then."
"Shame we couldn't go to one together,"
"We both know begging for trouble."
"Yeah, but still,"
"I know." Elsa sighed, "Maybe next New Year's."
Jack smiled at the mention of next New Year's and looked at the one resolution on his list he hadn't told Elsa, "Yeah, maybe next year. Well, I should start getting ready for tonight."
"Me too. I guess I'll talk to you next year then."
"That's so long," Jack whined.
"Oh hush, it's a few hours."
"Like I said so long."
Elsa roller her eyes and let out a grunt. "Goodbye Jack,"
"Bye princess,"
They hung up and both got ready for their respective parties. Jack got ready in about an hour and said goodbyes to his mom and sister.
"Be safe, and try not to stay out too late, even if it is New Year's,"
"Don't worry about me. I'll be with the guys all night." Jack said tickling Ellie, "You two try not to have too much fun without me."
"We're going to have our own party," Ellie said.
"And I wasn't invited?"
"Cause you wanted to go your teenage party."
"Well, I am a teenager," Jack teased. Ellie stuck her tongue out at him.
"I've got to get going. I'm picking up Sandy and Tooth."
"Okay sweetheart. Have fun."
"You too!" Jack called as he stepped out the door.
First he passed to pick up Sandy and then drove over to Tooth's.
"Hey guys," She said sitting in the back. Sandy turned around from the passages seat and signed 'You look nice.'
"Thank Sandy. You looked good yourself," She smiled.
"So, you know the way right? Cause I'm not so sure I remember exactly where Alex's place is,"
"I have a fair idea. But I have Gloria's number on my phone if anything."
"Cool," Jack said, "You talked to Aster and North."
'Bunny texted me not too long ago. He said North is going to kill him,' Sandy signed.
"North may be a crazy driver, but somehow he's never gotten in an accident yet," Jack said.
"He's got to have some magic in that van of his."
They friends chuckled at this. Jack's phone started ringing. He pulled it from his pocket quickly and tossed it to Tooth.
"Answer for me, if you'd please."
"Hello," Tooth said into the phone, "Wait, hold up, who is this?... Snotlout? Yes, this is Jack's phone. Hold on I'll put you on speaker."
"Are you with North?" The boy's voice rang out.
"Nah, he and Aster are heading to the party on their own. Why?" Jack asked.
"We wanted his car,"
"His car?" Tooth confusion showed in her voice.
"Yeah, he has a hummer doesn't he?" Snotlout asked.
"Yes, but what do you want with it?"
"We need a big vehicle to…" Snotlout cut himself short when a voice sounded in the background. It sounded like Tuffnut, "Sherk's here! We can use his pick up!"
"GOT IT!" Snotlout yelled making everyone in Jack's car flinch, "Guess we don't need North's car anymore. Thank thought."
"What's going on?" Jack asked but the other boy had already hung up.
'That was weird,' Sandy signed.
"Yeah, it was. I wonder what's going on." Tooth said.
"Well we'll find out at the party." Jack said. And that they did. As they pulled up to Alex's house (it wasn't hard to find once they were in the area, since it had dozens of cars parked out front) they saw a group of people standing outside. Jack could just make out Hiccup's form in the dim light. He, Sandy and Tooth went up.
"You aren't serious about this," Hiccup was saying, "This is insane,"
"This is inspired," Donkey laughed, "It's going to be great."
"No, it's not. It's going to get us in trouble, and probably arrested. It's probably illgegal, have you thought about that." Fishlegs said.
"Someone with sense," Hiccup said. "Can't we just enjoy our own party,"
"Oh come on chief, this is great idea. Just thinking about their screams, it's brings a tear to my eyes," Ruffnut said.
"Guys! Serious, you can't. Astrid, back me up here, maybe they'll listen to you."
"Well…"
"Babe, no…" Hiccup's jaw dropped.
"Sorry, but it does sound like fun," She smiled.
"Argh. So we're seriously going to do this. Seriously."
"What's going on?" Jack asked walking up to the group. Several people greeted him, Sandy and Tooth with happy cries.
"Jack, thank god, you can help me convince them."
"No, Jack will appreciate this. I'm sure he's going to love it," Sherk said.
"What's going on?" He asked again. Someone stepped aside and he saw four large cages. In those cages were four decent sized pigs.
"What the heck?" Tooth exclaimed.
"That was my reaction," Hiccup said throwing his hands up.
"We found out where Disney is having their New Year's party." Bob said.
"Disney?" It took a second for Jack to put the two bits of information together, "What does their party have to do with the pigs…no, wait, you aren't thinking about crashing, are you?"
"That's exactly what we're thinking." Link said.
"This is really not a good idea," Melman said.
"Thank you Melman,"
"Do you even know what kind of germs pigs can carry? Alex, how can you even let them have those things near your house,"
"Relax you worry wort," Alex said hitting Melman in the arm, "This is going to be the best prank we ever pulled."
"Jack," Hiccup said, "You can't want to do along with this,"
Jack felt several eyes turn towards him. He taught about it and couldn't help the smile that pulled at his lips. Elsa would probably kill him afterwards, but he was still a DreamWorks boy.
"Oh, I want to go along." Sherk laughed and clapped him on the back. A few people cheered. Tooth and Sandy exchanged a look.
"Idiots. I'm surrounded by idiots." Hiccup threw up his hands.
"Hey, why is everyone outside?" A voice Jack recognized made him turn. North and Aster had just arrive, joining the gathering.
"What's with the bacon?" Aster asked when they saw the pigs.
"They're gifts, for Disney," Snotlout said. Aster grinned wickedly.
"Nice," He held up a hand for a high five which Snotlout happily obliged too.
"I'm a little scared to ask, but where'd you even get the pigs from?" Tooth asked.
"Barry Benson and RJ got them," Marty said pointing to the boys, one in a black and yellow stripped shirt and the other a thick grayish brown wool sweater.
"We have some friends from the Nickelodeon Institution. Otis, Pip and Freddy. They hooked us up," RJ said.
"With pigs?" Tooth asked incredulously.
"Yeah, you'll be surprised what they can get for you." Barry grinned.
"So, we hit up Disney's bash and release these little fella's," Aster said, going closer to examine the pigs. Jack went with him, bending over so he could see the animals better. Now that he was closer he saw someone had tied banners with the school logo and a number around the pigs' midsections.
"How you'd get the banners on the pigs?" Jack asked.
"It was not easy, let me tell you," Tuff said.
"Wait, you missed a number," Aster said. Jack looked at the pigs again. He saw they were numbered 1, 2, 4 and 5.
"Yeah, there's no three. Or is there another one around?" He looked around for the number three pig.
"Oh no. That's part of the prank." Puss explained, "You see when we release these beauties the mice are going to catch them, eventually. But even when they get all four they are going to think they are missing one because of the missing number."
"That is genius." Aster laughed.
"You're coming with us, aren't you Jack?" Shrek asked.
"Miss this? Never." Jack smiled. Yeah, Elsa was going to kill him.
Shrek, Aster, Snotlout and some other guys started carrying the pigs to Shrek's pick up. Hiccup pulled Jack aside, Tooth and Sandy following them.
"You realizes that your girlfriend is probably going to be at this party."
"Not probably. I know she's going to be there,"
"Are you're okay with this?"
"Guys, this is brilliant. Yeah, I have some doubts, but really, like anything I say will be able to stop the others at this point. Hiccup if you can't make them stop then I most certainly won't be able to."
"That may be but,"
"Come on, don't tell me you've developed a soft spot for the mice,"
"Beating them at sports and crashing their party to release farm animals are two very different things."
"Oh lighten up, it will be fun," Jack grinned wickedly.
"What are you thinking Jack?" Tooth asked, recognizing that mischievous twinkle in Jack's eyes.
"Just this is going to be an interesting New Year's." Jack smiled walking back over to the others.
At Snow White's house (by house I mean mansion) Disney's party was in full swing. Most people were inside dancing, but a few were outside talking and waiting for the fireworks at midnight. Elsa and her friends were up on the second floor looking down at the festivity below from a balcony.
"Okay, we've completely lost them," Rapunzel sighed. They come here hoping to spot Kristoff and Eugene. They'd lost track of the boys in the mass of people.
"Who are you looking for?" They four girls turned around at the voice. Aurora was standing behind them, with Snow White and Cinderella.
"Kristoff and Eugene." Anna replied.
"I think I saw them outside," Cinderella said.
"I believe some of the boys started a hockey game."
"Of course they did," Elsa said.
"If they want to freeze let them. I'm not going outside yet, it's too cold." Merida said.
"Elsa, that's a beautiful bracelet," Aurora said.
"Oh," Elsa glanced at her charm bracelet, fighting off the urge to hide it from view.
"A Christmas gift? I don't recall seeing it before."
"Yeah," Elsa smiled.
"Mind if I ask from who?" Snow asked.
"Oh, no one important. No one you'd know."
"That doesn't look like something 'no one important' would get you," Cinderella said.
Rapunzel, Anna and Merida glanced at each other from the corner of their eyes. Elsa was going to say something but before she could a scream from below drew their attention. The girls looked over the balcony to see people running.
"What's going on?" Snow asked.
"Get that away from me!" A voice they knew belonged to Wendy cried out. They saw her jump into Peter's hands and he backed pedaled until he fell over a small side table. In the crowd they saw a blur darting between people's feet but they couldn't quiet make out what it is.
"NO TOUCHY ME YOU PIG!" Kuzco cried jumping up onto a sofa.
"Did he just say pig?" Merida asked looking at her friends.
"That's impossible," Rapunzel said.
"There's another one!" Kenia shouted.
"Where?" Ping asked looking around.
People from outside ran in, "There are pigs in the yard!" Mike cried.
"In the yard too?" Snow cried, "What is happening?"
"We should probably get down there," Cinderella said. They all ran downstairs. Snow ran off to try and find out why there were pigs in her house. Cinderella and Aurora went with her. Tarzan ran past, chasing a pig.
"There really are pigs," Rapunzel's jaw dropped.
"But how?" Elsa asked.
"Look out," Jim Hawkins cried. Merida pulled the others out of the way as the boy ran past, hot on the heels of another pig. The crowd was a mass of hysteria, as the people trying to get away from the pigs got in the way of the people trying to catch the pigs and vice versa. Elsa and the others tried to make their way through the crowds.
Kristoff and Eugene appeared, with Simba and Phoebus.
"I know I saw it come this way," Phoebus said.
"Did you see where the pig went?" Kristoff asked.
"Jim and Tarzan were each chasing one," Merida said.
"We were going after another…ah!" Simba cried pointed out one of the pigs with Mulan close on it's tail trying to grab it.
"Herd it this way!" Eugene cried running towards it. The pig changed directions when it saw Eugene. Mulan jumped over a coffee table a followed, Eugene crashed into the table. Simba, Kristoff and Phoebus followed Mulan.
"Should we help them?" Rapunzel asked.
"I'm not even sure how to help in this chaos." Elsa said. As she said the words a pig ran right next to them. Anna tried to jump on it.
"Halt you swine!" She cried giving chase.
"Anna, wait!" Elsa yelled running after her sister with Merida and Rapunzel. The pig darted around a sofa. Anna didn't dart. She jumped on the seat and vaulted over the back, disappearing from view. There was a squeal and cry then, "I got it!"
Elsa stopped short, "Did she just…"
"I think she did," Merida ran around the couch and they found Anna struggling the pig. Tarzan appeared and tried to help retrain the animal.
"What's that it's wearing?" Megara asked.
"Oh no," Merida frowned.
"Is that the…" Elsa started.
"Fricking moonies!" Hercules cried.
"It's got a number five on it too," Rapunzel said.
"Does that mean there are at least four more of those things run around?" Jessie asked. Buzz standing next to her shrugged.
Anna and Tarzan's grip slipped from the pig and it took off again.
"Man, and I had it too."
"Snow, can you get us blankets, baskets, anything that could make catching them any easier." Tarzan asked.
"I'll see what I can find."
She got them blankets and sheets they used as nets. It took fourth five minutes for them to catch and restrain three of the pigs.
"That's one," Ralph dropped the pig marked one into the make shift pen they'd made out of tables turned on their sides in the backyard.
"One, four and five. Assuming five is the highest number there are still two pigs around here somewhere." Kristoff said.
"Maybe they could have gone outside the yard," Esmerelda suggested.
"If they did that works for me, once it's not inside my house," Snow said.
"We should still look out there," Hercules said, "but not for pigs."
"Moonies," Shang said reading the boy's mind.
"You think they're still around," Aladdin asked.
"If it were me pulling this prank, I'd want to stick around to see the chaos." Naveen said.
"Okay so we split up," Eugene said, "Some people look inside for the last pigs, some people out here, and some will look in the area around the house for more pigs."
Elsa and Anna found themselves searching near some high hedge bushes that doubled as a fence between part of the back yard and the pool.
"Here piggy, here piggy," Anna called.
"You really think that's going to work?" Elsa asked.
"I'm sorry, but my pig calls are a little rusty." Anna said.
"Some party this turned into,"
"I had fun," Anna shrugged.
"Why does that not surprise me?" Elsa smiled. Anna snorted and moved along the fence, away from Elsa. Elsa moved in the opposite direction looking for any signs of a pig. A rustling drew her attention.
"Oh great," She muttered, bending down to see anything. The branches rustled again. "Okay pig, I don't want to hurt you," She glanced around looking from someone who might have a blanket. She didn't have one and they'd proven useful in trying to hold down the pigs. They was no one around, even Anna had disappeared from her view. A loud bang made her jump and look up. Fireworks light up the sky to her right, then more to her left and behind her. It was midnight. She sighed. The bush rustling drew her attention again.
"Okay pig, let's get this over with." She took a step toward bush. A hand reached out and grabbed her. One hand clamped over her mouth before she could scream. She struggled against the unknown attacker, swinging one elbow back she felt it collide with what she guessed ribs. She heard a pain filled cry and the hands holding her let go.
"God Elsa, are you trying to send me to the hospital."
She spun around, "Jack?"
Jack was doubled over, clutching his stomach.
"No, I'm fine. Never mind you probably cased internal bleeding." He whined, his voice still filled with pain. Elsa hit him again, this time in the chest.
"Are you insane?" She said in furious whisper, "You can't be here. If someone sees us we'll be dead. We'll be worse than dead."
"All your friends are still looking for pigs and my friends are too busy laughing. They think I went off to find a better spot to watch the action."
"I told you so!" She hit him again.
"Ow! What are you talking about?"
"I'm saying it now because I may not have time to later when we're running from the angry mob of our classmates. You have to get out of here," She said slapping his arm.
"Okay, you have to stop hitting me," He caught her hand and pulled her closer, "Relax okay. I doubt anyone is going to look here,"
Elsa looked around and saw they were in a narrow space behind the pool house.
"Only one problem. Everyone is looking for the pigs so they might very well check behind here."
"Okay, point taken. Just give me a minute."
"Jack-" He cut her off with a kiss. The rest of her sentence died in her throat and she returned the kiss. When Jack pulled away he whispered, "Happy New Year,"
"You're insane Frost,"
"Probably." He laughed, "It's what you do to me." He kissed her again and she couldn't help but melt into the embrace, reaching up to curl her fingers into his hair, she pressed closer. Jack pulled back, leaving her gasping.
"You…you really have to go now," She said looking up into his eyes. He nodded making their noses brush.
"Jack, I'm serious," She pleaded.
"Right," He gave her one last kiss before he let her go. He ran to the fence but stopped short.
"Oh, I guess I should tell you, there are only four pigs. We didn't label one with three, so you'd look all night for a pig that isn't there."
Elsa raised an eyebrow, "That's clever,"
"Never underestimate a moony. I'll see you princess," He winked and took a running leap at the fence, disappearing over the top. Elsa sighed leaning against the wall. She bit her lip.
"Idiot," She mumbled sighing fondly. She took a few minutes to catch her breath before leaving to see if they found the fourth pig. It had been interesting New Year so far. She wondered what the rest of the year was going to be like. What it was going to be like with Jack Frost.
Again, let me tell you how very sorry I am.
I'm really going to try to update more.
