Authors note: Hi guys, I'm so sorry I haven't posted in so long, I know I'm a terrible person, but don't worry I'm still here! So here you go, another chapter and I hope to get another one up soon. This chapter has a long dream sequence. Dreams or daydreams are written in italics, just a little heads up! By the way, there might be some confusing language in this chapter. I have another authors note at the bottom you can refer to if you need to. Thanks for reading

XXOXX Miss AudreyBear

Toni was thirteen when she decided she was going to make her parents love her.

"I'll be the best girl ever! I know they will love me." she told her robots. A flyer came home from her school advertising the daddy daughter dance. "That's the weekend my dad will be home!" She said to her favorite robot Ditsy. She crept into her dad's office where she knew he was working, flyer in hand.

"Dad?"

"What do you want?"

"Well, this weekend is the daddy- daughter dance, and I thought well, since you were going to be home, maybe you and I could go, and have some bonding time you know. It will be really fun." Her dad didn't even turn around.

"Sorry Antonia I'm leaving today." Toni's heart dropped down into her stomach.

"But, but, I thought you were going to stay home this weekend..."

"I know but something's come up. I'm going on another excavation to try and find Captain America." Rage bubbled up in Toni's chest.

"What's so special about stupid Captain America!" Her dad whipped around and slapped her cheek.

"Don't let me ever hear you say that again. Captain America is worth ten of you!" Toni ran out of the room. She laid on her bed and curled up into a ball.

"I hate him," she whispered to Ditsy. " I hate him so much."

Night slowly settled on New York. Toni had been avoiding Steve all day. She did this by lurking in the basement. Now it was 12:00 and Jarvis was scolding Toni about getting into bed.

"Fine! I'll get into bed, now turn the lights back on!" snapped Toni after Jarvis had flipped the lights off for the fifth time.

"You'll thank me later mam,'" chirruped Jarvis in an unusually smug tone. Toni rolled her eyes and stood up from her work bench. The whole world spun around her. Toni's hand shot out and she steadied herself by leaning on the wall.

"Huh, okay maybe I do need to sleep," she muttered as she left her workshop and flipped the lights off. Toni changed into her flannel pajamas and climbed into bed. She closed her eyes and instantly fell asleep.

Toni was fourteen when her parents shipped her off to boarding school. She had never seen her dad so happy. He rushed her out the door, packed her in the car, sped to the school and dumped her on the steps of Kirkwood Boarding School. He didn't even say goodbye. Toni trudged with a miserable heart into her dormitory. She set up her stuff then sat on her bed to read. The door opened, and closed. Toni looked up. A very tall girl was standing next to her bed.

"Are you sure you're in the right room? this room is for fourteen year olds not kindergarteners." Toni had always been a little on the small side but she didn't look anything like a kindergartener. Toni glared.

"How old are you forty? Huh, I wonder how many times you got held back?" The girl hissed.

"What kind of freak are you?"

"Look, I don't know why you hate me so much but I won't bug you if you just leave me alone."

"I'll be glad to," snapped the girl dragging her suitcase to the other bed and beginning to put her stuff away. With a groan Toni flopped back onto her bed. She could already tell this was going to be a long year.

(Three months later)

The bottom of a high heeled shoe slammed into Toni's stomach effectively knocking the air out of her and making her see stars. She thrashed, trying to strike one of her attackers, but missed. Thelma, a huge ape like girl, grabbed Toni's arms and pinned them behind her back. A first slammed into Toni's nose and blood dribbled over her mouth, splattering the front of her white dress shirt.

"Freak!" shouted one of the girls. Toni couldn't tell who it was over the ringing in her ears. Another punch landed on her cheek.

"HEY!" someone shouted and everyone stilled. "You leave her alone!"

Toni peeled open her one good eye to examine her savior. A short girl with dark blonde hair and glasses was stomping over to where the five girls had Toni pinned. Their ring leader, Toni's roommate Alissa, straightened up and crossed her arms.

"Mind your own business," she snapped. "This doesn't concern you."

"Back of princess! I'm not going to let you beat the crap out of her. Besides ya' coward, ya' got a whole group'a* people behindya!"

Alissa raised her eyebrows.

"Where exactly are you from?"

"Whatsit to ya'?"

Alissa glared.

"Try that again."

"Okay I'm sorry, whydaya care!?" Alissa growled and moved to stand in front of the girl. The girl stood about six inches shorter than Alissa but what she lacked in height she made up for in attitude. The girl kept of glaring back at Alissa.

"Leave it alone weirdo or I'll be taking it out on you." Without warning the girl gave a shrill scream and lunged forward, tackling Alissa around the middle and knocking her to the ground. Alissa gave a surprised shout but it was almost lost under the girls battle cries. The girl pinned Alissa, grabbed her by the front of her shirt and punched her in the mouth. Alissa cried out and that seemed to shock the other girls out of the trance they had been in. They lunged for the girl and she was buried underneath the pile of bodies. While Alissa and her cronies were sneaky in their fighting, holding people's arms behind their backs and roughing them up, this girl was vicious. She fought with tooth, claw, first, and foot. A few seconds after converging on her a few of the girls dashed away sporting bloody noses . The whole time this girl was fighting like an animal she was screaming. Finally Alissa and the remaining girls dashed off, shouting threats and warnings. Toni could not believe what had just happened. The girl climbed slowly to her feet, wincing slightly. She sported a busted lip, bloody nose and swollen eyes, but was grinning like she had won a medal.

"Hey, youokay?" she asked offering her hand to Toni. Toni blinked a minute, absorbing her words before taking the offered hand and allowing the girl to pull her to her feet.

"Yeah, I'm okay, what about you?"

"I'mma be fine," said the girl in a dismissive way. She gestured for Toni to follow her and Toni did.

"Where are you from?" asked Toni after a minute, "you have a strange accent."

The girl laughed, then winced.

"Michigan, and I don't havean accent, you do."

Toni shook her head, "you say your words really fast."

"So I've been told."

"Hey what's your name?"

"Adora, but you can call by Auddy."

Sunlight streamed in through Toni's window as she slowly roused. She yawned and sat up stretching. She glanced her bedside clock and gasped. Ten o'clock!? She had never slept in that late! She stumbled out of bed quickly changing into her work clothes and throwing her hair into a messy bun. She opened the door, dashed outside, and slammed into Captain America.

With a cry of surprise Toni landed hard on her butt, cursing loudly. Steve stumbled backward.

" .Goodness, my sincerest apologies, I didn't see you there!"

"Obviously capsicle," grumbled Toni standing stiffly. Steve shifted awkwardly.

"I was just coming to check on you..."

"You were going to come and watch me while I was sleeping? Nice move Edward Cullen."

Steve's brow furrowed. "I'm afraid I don't understand that reference."

"Yeah well you're not missing out on anything." There was more awkward silence, than Steve's stomach growled loudly. Toni arched an eyebrow.

"Hungry Cap?" Steve nodded sheepishly.

"Well come on then, not going to let my guest starve am I? To the kitchen!"

Authors note: hello guys, hope you enjoyed this chapter. Concerning the words slurred together ("Whatsit," "I'mma" "behindya" ). The slurred together words are my attempt at writing a Michigan accent. I have researched the Michigan accent and a reoccurring theme is the slurring of words together. Now this is harder to show in writing then in speech but I tried my best.
