To n.j's review, I will answer what I can. 1. Yes, there is a lot more to the plot than what my summary is. All the summary is for is to act as an attention-grabber, of sorts. When? The scouts are in high school age and Mamoru is in university. Tokyo. Scouts are 16 and Mamoru is 19. Generals are technically 1000+ years. But in terms of conscious years, between 19 and 23. The remaining ones they were sealed away. Read on to find that out. Same again. Usagi was simply staring out her window and reflecting one what had happened to her. I was trying to highlight how desperate she was for something different. How in she is much more defeated, yet stronger than her canon counterpart. Her father supposedly hit her mother, but she just framed him. Her father was wealthy, so her mom wanted what he had without having to wait for him to die or trying to kill him. Hope all that helps.

P.S.- I am sorry this took so long to get out, but I am dealing with loss of loved ones right now. Nonetheless, enjoy please.

The Shadow Of Darkness

Chapter 11

I hurry towards the hospital, wishing to see my brother as soon as possible, my stormy mood from before making me disregard all that stood in my path to see him. Though I know that I really should feel guilty about storming out on the girl who had done nothing wrong, and had in fact given me an oppourtunity to be a part of a group of friends, I simply could not bear to just sit back and talk about such pointless things with so much more important things going on, like my brother's injury.

At this point, I was truly beginning to worry that I had truly lost my brother in that attack, for at this point the coma had been going on for long enough that he was gradually getting to the point it was less and less likely that he would ever wake up again.

If I lost Shingo, I would truly have no idea what to do. Would I lose it? Probably. He was the person who had been at my side throughout all of my trials and tribulations. To lose him would be to lose a large part of myself. He was the driving force that had kept me going up to this point. To lose him, would deprive me of even that. If I were to lose him, it would become purely a desire for revenge. A life of bitterness and anger. The last bit of happiness and love in my life. Friends were one thing… people who were there when everything went dark, they are the only ones that I want to have around.

Making my way through the hospital, I burst onto the floor with my brother on it, walk a break neck pace to the room with my brother in it, only to stumble upon a truly bizarre sight. My brother had a man's sleeping head on his stomach, holding his hand. I try to shake the man awake to no avail, and even try forcibly removing him, but for some reason I am unable to get him to let go of Shingo's hands.

Pausing for a moment in frustration of my lack of success, I jolt when I finally recognize the man, as the assistant to that doctor from before. 'What on Earth is he doing here? Just how creepy is he? Just leave us alone! It is not your place to try and step in and intervene!'

Suddenly, a golden aura envelops both Shingo and Chiba, encasing them both in its shimmering glow. IT almost felt….alive, as though it was an entity of its own. It had started on my brother and now ended on Chiba. As I stood there transfixed, Chiba flared to life, getting up looking disoriented. Looking down at himself, he stood there, looking as though he was seeing himself for the first time. Then he grabbed me, barreling us both out of the way as I felt a burst of pure energy barrel straight past me. I feel blackness overcoming me as I feel no more.

As I become aware my surroundings I realize that I am surrounded by nothingness. Feeling alarmed, I start to panic wondering what it is that had happened to me. A voice suddenly starts speaking, rumbling, "It is nice to see you again, Endymion. It has been far too long since we last spoke."

Frantically I try to figure out what it is that is going on, when the voice soothingly says, "Relax Endymion. We do not have much time, so I need to cover this ground quickly."

Unable to shake the feeling of overwhelming familiarity, as well as a sense of tragedy, I ask hesitantly, "Who exactly are you? Better yet, what exactly are you?"

"As clichéd as this is going to sound, I am your father, Deucalion. However, the real problem here is you rather than me."

Bemused, I disbelievingly say, "I remember going unconscious. This is just some bizarre dream. My name is Mamoru, not Endymion, and my father is dead, he died in a car crash many years ago. I must just have a bizarre amount of consciousness in my sleep."

Sounding agitated the voice cuts in, saying, "Enough of this nonsense! You are obviously not asleep. How often do you have conscious thought in you sleep? I do not have time for such trifle issues. My time is limited and I wish to get moving here so that I may tell you what I must and do what I must before I leave here."

Looking around doubtfully at the void around me, I ask, "Then what exactly is this place?"

Responding quickly, the voice answered, "This is my spirit, or my soul in other words. I am using my powers to communicate with you right now."

Leaping at the flaw in this logic, I point out, "My father was just an ordinary man who died in an ordinary manner, a car crash. He had no powers, otherwise such an event would not have occurred."

Sounding smug the voice replies, "You are correct, in part. Have you not ever wondered why when you look at the picture of your parents why it is that you look so different from them and yet you have not been adopted? It is because you are the reincarnation of the prince of Earth from a thousand years ago. I was your father from that life time."

Even more sceptical of the story that was being told here, I slowly reply, "So how exactly have we been reincarnated? What proof do you have of this?"

Sighing the voice answered, "You remember the time you came to visit the boy? And you felt that warmth? That was you awakening as the prince, with my return from my 'seal', if you will. By awakening the King of Earth, your powers as prince were reawakened, one of which is the ability to heal. You healed the boy. The reason he has not woken up is in fact because of my presence, which is why I had wished you could have arrived sooner."

Remembering this even, as well as the connection and compulsions I got around the boy, such as the name Deucalion coming to me, I started to wonder if there was some truth. Doubt still in my voice, "Care to tell me what you need to tell me what you need? To explain why I feel connected to that boy and his sister?"

Rumbling in assent, the voice replied, "Very well. A thousand years ago, there were kingdoms on every single planet in this system, all of which had princesses, which were loyal to the Queen and the Princess of the moon. They were given abilities to protect the solar system and the princess. Except Earth. The Royal family and the guard to the Prince also had abilities, hence why you have power that ordinary humans never will. It is your inheritance as the Prince of Earth. But an evil essence overcame the people of Earth and used the people to attack the moon. In this attack you were killed, many other people were too. I was mortally wounded, but not dead when I spoke to the Queen. She told me that she would reincarnate the people who had died. She would ensure that the inheritance of the royal family of the moon reached the Princess. But you would not be able to fulfill your role as King of Earth, as it more be passed down through spirit as opposed to object. This would leave the Earth unprotected once the Earth was under siege again. Since I was not dead I could not be reincarnated, so I asked the Queen to preserve my soul somewhere you would find it again. She decided to give the Princess a brother, so that I might be able to do what I must. Fate seems to draw you two together like magnets, so we thought it was our safest bet. It seems we were right."

Struggling to comprehend what was being said, I ask, "How do I receive this inheritance then?"

Laughing, the voice replies, "Still just as to the point as your old man, eh? I am happy to see that some things do not change regardless of circumstances. My time is short, and doing this will make me pass on. I truly wish I could give you more, my son, but alas I cannot. I give you the ability to protect yourself and the things that you hold dear. The ability to help the people of Earth finally transcend the suffering that has ruled it for thousands of years and enjoy the life of the people of the Moon and other planets. Stable, safe and free. Make sure to use these abilities well, for many evils were converge on this time and they will be the trials you face to free yourself from all of your misery. I wish I could be there to teach you to control this, but I cannot. Receive your rightful inheritance and use it well. Farewell, my son."

With that I am enveloped in that aura again, but this time I receive a rush, feeling awakened by this change happening. All doubts leave my mind, with a certainty left behind that I am indeed, Endymion, the Prince of Earth. Ridding on this knowledge, I find my awareness of my surroundings slowly returning, and I remember that I am presently in the hospital, in the room of that boy that fate seems to revolve around. When I turn around I see the girl, and still behind her, I see a beam of energy flying her way.

Lunging at her, I grasp at her and desperately pull her out of its path, and I feel the distortion in the air brush by mere centimeters from us, when I suddenly feel the force of the explosion. It knocks us towards the wall and we crash into it. As the dust rises, pure panic sets in as I realize that there had been one more person that had been in the trajectory of that beam. The girl's brother. Horror sets in as I see that there is nothing that remains of him except ashes. Looking down, I see the girl, looking dead, completely motionless.

Running on only instinct and adrenaline, I make a run for it as my fight-or-flight instincts take over. I burst through the window, landing effortlessly on the ground, carrying the girl with me. As though it could make up for my mistake, desperately hoping she is okay. Running into the alley, I jump up to the balcony of an apartment, hoping to climb the fire escape up, when I jump well past my target and unto the roof of the building in question.

The shock of being all to jump building ends up cost me, as I am found by a man with long platinum hair and an odd locking uniform. Calling out to me he say, "So it seems that our speculation was right after all. There was more to this whole thing than just the one girl defeating a youma. Tell me, who are you?"

I was still very much in fight or flight mode, as I just turn and continue running, jumping from building to building just hoping to get as far away from the scene of the- 'No, just don't think about it. Maybe this is just all some bizarre dream.' Though I was more wishing it that actually believing it. Unfortunately, the man was not to be denied so easily as he gave chase, eventually landing ahead of me, cutting me off from proceeding any further. Not making the same mistake as last time, he lunged at me, knocking me down and the girl flying a few feet away. As he went for a strangle hold, the image of the girl falling seared into my brain, and I felt and surge of energy. Jumping up and knocking him off me, I launch a quick uppercut, sending him flying through the air, and feeling in connection with the energy, I shoot out a golden beam, hitting the man with an explosion. I dash over to the girl and collect her again, when the police sirens arrive, blaring.

Then the man landed on his back, slamming into the concrete, with a slightly singed uniform and bruised face. Hearing the voices however, he just suddenly disappear in thin air, and without hesitation, I continue my dash away from the scene as I had been. By the time the police finally arrived at the scene, we were both long gone.

A few hours after, I stood in my apartment, trying to comprehend what had just happened. But more than anything, I felt failure. I had failed to protect the girl, and her brother. Looking down at her, I feel nothing but pure shame. 'I wanted to protect her, to help her. I failed so miserably. Her brother is dead, and she is unconscious. What on Earth is it that I am supposed to do?' Despite all of my emotional turmoil, I knew one thing very clearly. I could not let this happen to anyone else. I had to help each and every single person that I conceivably can. Noticing her stirring, I prepare myself for one of the worst conversations of my entire life.

Coming to, I slowly and dully wake up to find myself in an unfamiliar looking room. Realizing this, I jolt upright, trying to determine where I am. Until I see him, and then it all comes crashing back to me, when I arrived at the hospital, seeing him, the golden aura, him grabbing me, and the energy I felt flying by. The it sets in. One person had not got out the way. My brother, Shingo. Instantly, I demand, "Where is my brother? How is he? What happened to him? What was that energy thing?"

Regarding me with pure failure in his eyes he replies, "I said once to you that I am against lying, so I won't. We were attacked by some guy with powers, and then after I took you away and ran off and fought him and then he just disappeared. He had powers and was obviously very strong."

I nod, already knowing who it had to be. The enemy that Artemis had been warning me about. But I press on, "What about Shingo?!"

"Well you see,…. He did not escape the blast. He is gone…without a trace of him left.

Tears freely cascade down my cheeks without pretense, as I think 'He can't be gone he just can't be! HE is all I have! All I have! Don't take that little away from me! My life is already awful, he is the only one who has given me love! HE is all I have! Don't be gone!' Screaming, I cry out, "Don't be gone! You are all I have!"

Suddenly, a glowing crescent moon appears on her head as I look on in awe, in complete shock of what I witness. As her wails get louder, the glowing becomes blinding and I shield my eyes, until it fades, revealing the girl, changed into wearing some thing completely different. A sailor senshi uniform.

Sitting with the other girls, I watched as all other their foreheads started to get a glowing insignia, and in a flash of light the all changed. They had awoken. One forest green, one fire red, one ice blue, and my own a rich orange. Feeling power flowing through me, and sensing a moving person, I knew I had to track it down.

Sitting with the other generals, I sit waiting for Kunzite's return. I watch in shock as he stumbles into the room, singed and bruised, and quickly exclaim, "What happened?!"

Regarding me cooly he says, "I got in a fight. I was tracking that girl that Nephrite had found, when she entered a room with this guy, and I felt a rich energy from him, I somehow felt that I knew that energy, so I launched a stealth attack which he avoided and escaped. Long story short, she is not along and has comrades with powers."

Suddenly Beryl barrages in shouting, "They have returned! The sailor senshi are back! I sensed their energies just now!"

Glancing at the other generals, I know this means it is time to reassess our strategy.

Barging into the house, I run straight to Artemis, who looks at me astonished and cries out, "Usagi?! You have change into a- wait what is wrong Usagi?"

Tearing still streaming from my voice I say in a steely tone, "That enemy, they attacked today. They took my brother from me. My everything. Now I am going to do the same to them."
