Reborn sighed as he watched his student pace back and forth. It was Nana Sawada's birthday today, and Tsuna was not sure of what to do, or of what to give her. In Reborn's opinion, Tsuna was overthinking things.
As inspiration on what to do about the situation struck him, Reborn hummed and glanced up to the top of his fedora. After his last experience with shooting Tsuna with the Dying Will Bullet so early in the morning, Reborn was still antsy about doing it again. However, Reborn was sure that Tsuna had other worries on his mind at the moment than using him as a teddy bear. Even if Tsuna did want to use Reborn as a teddy bear, Reborn had forcibly made Tsuna regret the act of cuddling with him after he woke up and let him go. It was unlikely that it would happen again.
Decision made, Reborn notified Leon via their shared telepathy. In response, Leon tilted his head slightly, blinked, rolled his eyes, and then finally scurried down Reborn's fedora and arm into his right hand where he finally transformed into a green gun.
Despite Leon's obvious body language that he thought shooting Tsuna was a bad idea, Reborn fought down a shiver and aimed at the pacing boy. With the ease of long practice, Reborn pressed the trigger. The Dying Will Bullet went flying out.
Reborn cursed as Tsuna suddenly stopped walking in a figure-eight to consider an idea, and the Dying Will Bullet flew out the window harmlessly, and hit a cat. While Tsuna face palmed and continued pacing, Reborn watched as the cat in the tree sprouted green fire from its head and let out an indignant MEOW.
For the next five minutes, Reborn watched the cat with slight trepidation. Thankfully, all the cat did was jump off the tree and terrorize all the mice in the neighborhood. In fact, when the cat returned near the end of the five minutes, Reborn could have sworn he saw the cat rubbing its belly in satisfaction with its paw.
Reborn's left eye twitched in irritation, and he considered how best to try again. With a devious smirk, Reborn leaped onto Tsuna's head and leaned over, pointed Leon right between Tsuna's eyes, and fired.
The effect was instantaneous. All of Tsuna's clothes except his boxers flew off, and a brilliant orange flame bloomed into life on his forehead. Reborn, unused to being on top of Tsuna's head during these transformations, barely held on to Tsuna's spikey hair due to the wind pressure created, and somehow avoided being scorched by the bright flame.
Tsuna raised his arms and yelled, "Reborn!" It was then that Reborn realized with a start that Tsuna's shout was one of indignation, and that it always had been. For some reason, Reborn mused, Tsuna's first reaction to being shot was to be annoyed, before other, more pressing concerns replaced it. Reborn silently thanked the cat for showing him this insight to his student's thinking.
Reborn was content to sit on his student's head and watch while Tsuna ran throughout the house, grabbing a broom and dustpan in one moment, and cleaning studiously the next. At the end of the five minutes when his flame died out, Tsuna was just preparing to bake a cake. As Tsuna noticeably became more lethargic during the baking process, Reborn decided that another round was in order.
Reborn did the same as before, and everything was the same, except for this time, an apron stating 'Kiss the Cook' in English flew off. Reborn blinked as he noticed that, just before his student snagged the apron and put it back on. Amused by the situation, Reborn watched as his student finished readying the cake for the oven, and started making dinner.
In the end, it took one more Dying Will Bullet to achieve satisfactory preparations for dinner. The food was all cooking, and barely needed tending, and the table was all set. Tsuna took care of the rest without extra help, and everything was ready by the time Nana arrived home.
Reborn's lips twitched up into a small smile as he saw mother and son embrace. Although this was not quite what Reborn had expected the Dying Will Bullet to do, it was nonetheless a satisfactory result.
