Angela sat on the ledge, outside the clock tower. The wind blew softly through her long black hair as she listened to the sounds of the city. She love being here, at this moment. It gave her a chance to enjoy the scenery and the place she called home. It also gave a peace of mind, away from everything and everyone. Mostly, from Brooklyn, Broadway and Lexington. Angela sigh. Ever since she arrived at this city the boys have been very interested in her. Every chance they get the trio hounded her with gifts, piening for her love.
'It was flattering at first but now, it's starting to annoy me.' Once again Angela sighs. Times like these she wishes she was back on Avalon with her rookie sisters. That was one thing she misses about her old home.
'With my sisters I had someone to talk to. Someone I can talk about this kind of situation.' Angela couldn't talk to Hudson or her father about this. And the boys, well that was out the question. Back on Avalon Angela would spend hours talking to her sisters. Things that she couldn't speak with her brothers about.
"Oh well, maybe it's best I figure this out on my own." Angela gazes back towards the city, letting her mind relax and forget. At least for a little while.
Meanwhile, Elisa ascended up the long staircase, which led to the clocktower. To her surprise, her Captain gave her the night off. After working on a case for two weeks straight her Captain decided she needed time to relax and rejuvenate. So, what better way to relax than to visit her friends.
'I can't wait to see their face when I tell them I have the night off.' Elisa reached the top of the staircase and surprise surprise no one was there. 'That's weird they didn't mention going on patrol tonight.' She walk around the clocktower hoping to find someone. Elisa reached the balcony and saw lone gargoyle sitting on the ledge.
"Oh Angela." Elisa called her name. Angela turn to see who it was. A smile quickly reach her face.
"Elisa, what are you doing here? I thought you had work tonight."
Elisa sat next to Angela, "Well, my Captain gave me the night off. I came by to surprise everybody. But, it turns out I was the one who got surprised."
Angela laughed, "Yeah, I can see why. Seeing the clocktower empty and all."
"So, where is everyone?"
"Father and Hudson went on patrol. I didn't feel like going."
"And the boys." Elisa asked.
"They went to some sort of costume thing at the park." Angela said, "They said they would be safe since everyone was in costume."
"Oh, that sounds like a fun time. Why didn't you go with them?"
"Argh, cause the boy are driving me insane!" Angela didn't realize how much anger she had until she shouted to Elisa.
Elisa was stun to see Angela get so anger, "Angela, is everything alright?"
Angela lowered her head in embarrassment, "I'm sorry, Elisa. I didn't mean to shout at you. It's just... the guys have been driving me up the wall. Every time we're together they try to up-one each other to win my affection. They treat me like I'm nothing but a trophy to them." Angela look over at the city, "I've tried some many times to talk to them but, they just don't listen. I just...I just don't know what to do."
Elisa sat silently, listening to Angela vent out her anger. She understood completely. She was in a similar situation back at the police academy. Some of the guys would do everything and anything to see who will score. Elisa would, of course, decline their advances. But, as time past by things got insane. It wasn't until she punch one of them in the face that the guys back down. Elisa knew Angela would never hurt the guys but she was knew Angela was at her breaking point.
"Angela." Elisa place her hand on her shoulder "I understand how difficult this is, believe me I know. But, you've got to express what you're feeling to the guys or things will get ugly." Elisa tuck Angela's hair behind her ear. Just like her mother would do to her, "Trust yourself and they will listen."
Angela heard the words. 'Maybe I should talk to them again. I just need to be more confident in my speaking. They will understand.' Angela look at Elisa, she was so grateful to have her here. "Thanks Elisa. You have no idea how much this means to me. It's...hard to talk to the guys about this stuff, you know? Times like these make me miss home and my sisters."
Elisa could relate. With her sister off at college she didn't have anyone else to talk to about stuff. Sure, she could speak with her mother but it's the sister bond that makes their conversations so meaningful. 'Her being so far way from home and her family. No means of getting back, Angela definitely needs some girl time.'
She smile, getting an idea. Elisa got up from the ledge, "Alright, enough sitting around and wasting the night away."
"What do you mean?"
"What I mean is, time to has some fun." Elisa said, "Let's you and I do something together. We can go to my place and have a girls night."
"Girls night?" Angela smiled, she didn't know what girls night was but it sounded like fun. Well, more fun than sitting alone at home. "Alright, let's do it."
"Great." Elisa said, "I'll meet you at my apartment. I have some place to go beforehand. The window is unlock. Make yourself at home."
"Alright, I'll see you there." Angela and Elisa went there separate ways. Angela headed to the apartment while Elisa took her car and went on a special errand. Angela arrived at the apartment first. As always, Angela enter the apartment through the open window. Since Elisa lived on the top floor with a balcony it was easy to access her apartment. She closed the window as she look around the apartment. Angela always admired Elisa's place. It was nice and cozy. It always made you feel at home. Suddenly, a soft sound of a cat's meow was heard. Angela look down to see Cagney purring and rubbing Angela's ankles.
"Hi, Cagney." Angela bent down to pat the cat. Cagney love the attention he was getting. He leap into Angela's arms as he meowed and purred, hoping to get more attention from Angela. Of course, it work as Angela caress the furry feline.
"I can see you and Cagney are getting along." Angela look up to see Elisa with a paper bag in her head.
"He-he I think he likes the attention more."
"Yup, that's Cagney for yeah. He'll do anything for food and attention." Elisa place the bag onto the counter, "I hope you weren't waiting too long."
Angela shook her head, "No, I just got here a moment ago."
"That's good." Elisa started taking everything out of the bag. Angela, curious as to what Elisa had got up from the floor with Cagney in arms and walk over.
"What's in the bag, Elisa?"
She smirk, "Girls' night survival kit." Elisa took out all the things they would need for tonight. She pulled out drinks, chips, popcorn, some frozen pizza to heat up in the oven, and the most important item for a night like tonight, ice cream. Angela beamed when she saw the ice cream, especially, since Elisa got her favorite flavor Cotton Candy. Suddenly, Cagney began to meow as he hopped out of Angela arms. He headed straight to his food bowl, which just so happens to be empty. They both laugh at the silly cat.
"Alright, you silly cat. I'll feed ya." Elisa turn to Angela, "Why don't you pick out a movie for us to watch. I'll feed Cagney and get our snacks ready."
"Sure."
"The movie case is next to the television." Angela nodded as she went to the living room. Reaching the movie case, Angela was amazed by the collection of movies Elisa's had.
'So many to choose from. Where do I start?' Angela decided to go shelf by shelf, seeing all the movie titles, hoping one will spark her interest. As she reached the third shelf Angela found a title that spark her interest. "Hmm, Titanic. That sounds like a good movie." She pulled the movie from the shelf and look at the cover. It had a handsome young man and a beautiful young woman on the cover. "This might be a fun movie."
"So, did you pick a movie?" Elisa asked as she placed all the snacks and drinks on the small coffee table. Angela walk up to her and handed her the copy of the movie.
"Ah, Titanic. It's one of the few movies I actually like." Elisa chuckled, "Which is funny since I'm not usually into romance."
"Really," This caught Angela's attention, "If you dislike romance, why is it your favorite?"
"Hmm, well for one thing my sister gave to me as present and second..." Elisa thought about it for a sec, "I guess it's because in a way I could relate to the main character Rose."
"Oh, I see." Angela curiosity grew. 'She can relate to the main character. I wonder how?'
"I'll put the movie on." Elisa said, "Take a load off on the couch and have some food. The pizza will be ready in 10 minutes."
Angela excitedly sat on the couch as she grab some popcorn and candy. She couldn't wait to see the movie. Elisa pop the movie in and joined Angela on the couch. She grab some chips and candy as the movie began to roll. Halfway through the movie and many snacks and pizza gone they were enjoying the movie. Angela, especially. Everything about the movie brought glee in her eyes. But, the element that had her engrossed the most was the true.
'From what Elisa explained, this movie is based on real events. Everyone from the people to the infamous ship were once alive. And the love between Jack and Rose. I hope one day I can find love as passionate and beautiful as theirs.' Angela look over at Elisa, who was happily enjoying her pint of ice cream. 'She said that she related to the main girl but...I still haven't figure out how.' Shrugging her shoulder, Angela return her attention back to the film.
Finally, the film came to an end. Angela was in tears by the time the music began to play. The third act really got to her. She connected with every single person in the film and seeing how they end up in the end brought her joy and sorrow. Angela wipe her tears away as Elisa paused the movie. She look over and Angela and knew what she had to do.
She leans forward and grab the box of tissues, "Here, I cried at the end too the first time I watch it."
Angela graciously grab a tissue. She wiped away her tears as she sigh, "That was a great movie. I can't believe this actually happened in real life."
"Well, the sinking of the ship and some of people who were on the boat were real. But not the main character."
"Even so." Angela took a deep breath, "Their love story was one for the ages. They went through so much just to be together. But...in the end tragedy took that away from them."
"But, then again." Elisa spoke, "It was tragedy that set them free."
"What do you mean?"
"Jack and Rose, as much as they wanted to be together there were obstacle blocking their path. Jack was more open, he wasn't afraid of what society thought of him. Rose, on the other hand, didn't mind that Jack was different but the people around her would. They would see nothing but their differences. Their upbringing, society, they were too...different to be together." Elisa close her eyes, "But when with all of that their love was strong. Rose even through away her old life so she could live in his. All because Jack open hey eyes to the things she was blind too."
"What would that be?"
Elisa open her eyes and smiled, "Seeing the world in bright light rather than black and white." Elisa blush as she thought about that special someone who opened her eyes to the things she couldn't see.
Angela stare at her friend, 'The words she was using... Elisa wasn't just talking about the main characters. She was...talking about herself.' It then dawned on her, 'That's how she can relate to Rose. Because she sees herself in her.' Noticing the blush on her cheek, Angela grin. Knowing full well who Elis was thinking about. 'I just hope it doesn't end in tragedy for both of them.'
Elisa got lost in her own world for a moment. Her thoughts ran deep about Goliath and so did her love. But, just like Rosa, Elisa had her doubts. 'My love for Goliath is true but is that enough? Are we able to move on beyond our differences and find happiness? Or... are we going to end in tragedy.'
Angela noticed how quiet Elisa's been. She place her hand on her shoulder, "Elisa, you ok?"
Elisa snap out of her own thoughts, "Huh." She look over at Angela and embarrassedly smile, "Sorry, guess I...got a bit lost in my own world."
"Own world huh? Must be thinking about something important." Angela smirk, "Or an important gargoyle in your life."
"I don't know what your talking about?" Elisa lied.
"Uh-Huh sure." Angela's smirk grew, "Don't worry, your secrets safe with me. Especially from father."
Elisa couldn't believe it, "How long have you known?"
"Since the night we might on Avalon." Angela said, "I was suspicious at first. But, it wasn't until our time on the skiff that truly confirm my suspicions. Also, the guys told me about your blossoming love."
"Oh great, the guys know."
"Yup, oh and Hudson too." Angela burst into laughter as she saw Elisa face. 'She's so embarrassed.'
Elisa was indeed embarrassed but it wasn't because of who it was. 'I'm more embarrassed that everyone else knows.' Elisa was good at hiding her emotions but when it came to Goliath she allowed herself to express herself more. She wanted to be more open with him. It took awhile but they build a trust between the two. 'That trust slowly made us closer. It made my love for you so clear. And yet, I try to distance myself from it.'
Although her love was true for Goliath, Elisa try to distance her from it. 'I don't want to distance myself from this love but...we're so different. Will it work between us? What if it doesn't? How will this affect us?' Suddenly, something dawned on her. Something she should have thought about since Avalon.
"Angela."
"Yes?"
"How do you feel about all this?" Elisa asked.
"About what?"
"Me...having feeling for your dad?" Elisa look at her straight in the eye, "I want you to be honest with me. How do you feel about me and my relationship with Goliath?"
Angela sat quietly on the sofa. How did she feel about it? Angela didn't see anything wrong with it. In fact, she love the idea of her father and Elisa being together one day. She loved Elisa and sees her as big sister, even a mother figure. 'She's been there for me since Avalon. She's helped me understand the world around me and we have fun together.' Angela, suddenly remember what Elisa said earlier, 'Everyone should have the opportunity to love someone with all their heart. That's what makes love so beautiful. And Elisa desires that love.'
"Well," Angela finally spoke, "I think it's wonderful."
Elisa softly gasp, '"You do?"
"Yes," Angela said, "I've seen how much father cares for you. And how protective he is. Not to mention the smile that appears every times he says your name." Angela smiled, "I think your the best thing that's ever happen to him."
"You really think so?"
"I know so."
Elisa smile, 'I'm happy that's she's ok with this.'
"But, I have to ask." Angela said, "Why did you ask me how I felt about it?"
"Because, you're an important person to Goliath." She answered, "I...wanted to make sure you were comfortable with all of this."
"Aren't you?"
Elisa tensed up a bit, "Well... I care for your father deeply."
Angela could feel there's more, "But."
"But... it would be impossible to be together with him."
"How is it impossible?" Elisa raised her eyebrow, giving her the "really, you're asking that question." look. Angela sheepishly smile, "Oh right, sorry."
Angela let her smile go, "But, you shouldn't let that stop you from loving him."
"It's not that it's stopping me from loving him. It's just..." Elisa sighed, "It's complicated."
Angela could see Elisa inner turmoil, 'I've never realized how much Elisa has been conflicted with this. If only things can be easier for the two of them.'
She place her hand on Elisa's. "Elisa, I hope you know that I support you and father. The whole clan does. And whatever happens...we're still family. You can't get rid of us that easily."
Elisa chuckled, "You're right about that. Angela, thank you. Your support means a lot to me." Elisa felt some weight lifted off her shoulders. "You know ,your a very smart gargoyle, Angela. No wonder the boys are fond over you."
It was Angela's turn to get embarrassed, "Yeah, you think so."
Elisa nodded, "Of course. But, you got to put them in place."
"Trust me I've been trying too. For some reason it just got over there heads."
"And that young Angela is your first lesson about guys." Elisa said.
"I don't follow."
"When it comes to guys, a lot things can go over their head. Especially, when it comes to girls." She implied.
"So," Angela concluded, "I'm completely doomed."
Elisa laughed, "No, not completely. Boys will listen, you just have to stand your guard."
"How do I do that?" Angela curiously asked.
"Simple." Elisa got up from the couch, "Stand up." Angela stood up, curious as to what Elisa was going to show her.
"Ok, now what?"
"Stand up straight." Angela stood up straight.
"Hands on your hips." She place her hands on her hips.
"And tell me in a firm voice what you want the boys to do."
Angela took a deep and with her firm voice she spoke, "Guys, I want you to respect me and treat me like a member of the clan and not a prize to be won. I will choose who I will date when I'm ready. It will be on my terms not yours. Understood?" Angela relax a bit, "Was that good?"
Elisa smile, "That was great." Angela smile, now that she knew what to say she was confident that the boys will listen to her. Angela gave Elisa a hug,
"Thank you, Elisa."
"No problem, kiddo." Elisa pulled away, "Now, what do you say we continue our girls night huh?"
"You got it." For the rest of the night Elisa and Angela enjoy the night away. They watched movies, ate more junk food. Elisa even did Angela's hair for fun. She even give Angela advice about when she is ready to date one of the guys. For Angela this was the best night she ever had. But, unfortunately their fun night had to come to an end as dawn approached. Elisa and Angela stood outside the roof.
"Elisa, I can't thank you enough for tonight. You've help me out a lot."
"Of course, us girls have to stick together right?" Elisa winked.
Angela smile, "Right. I just wished it didn't have to end so soon."
"It doesn't have to." Elisa said, "If you every need a girls night let me know. I'll set a special date for us. What do you say?"
"I would love that very much, Elisa." Angela hug her friend, grateful to have someone like her in her life.
Elisa happily hug the young gargoyle, "Now, you better get going before your dad losses his head." They laugh, knowing she might be right.
"Goodbye" Angela spread her wings and jump off the roof, using the wind to glide back home. It didn't take long for Angela to return to the clocktower. As she landed on the ledge she was greeted by her father and the other.
"There you are, Angela." Goliath said, "I was worried. Where have you been?"
"Oh, I was with Elisa. She came by and we decided to hang out together at her apartment. I had lots of fun with her."
"I see." Goliath smiled, "I'm glad you and Elisa enjoyed each other's company."
Angela nodded, "Yup, we had a great time." Goliath was joyous to hear her and Elisa were getting along. With Demona out of the picture for now, Angela needed a female figure in her life. 'I'm glad that Elisa became that figure.'
Angela was happy her father wasn't mad that she was gone without telling him where she was going. Suddenly, her attention shifted towards the trio, who were arguing over who got the best present for Angela.
"Angela's going to love mine gift." Lex said holding a book in her hand.
"No way." Brooklyn argued, "She'll like mine because it's cool." Brooklyn had a stuff animal dress in a cute costume.
"You guys, don't forget I have the better gift." Broadway said as he held a box of her favorite sweets. They argued back and forth trying to sell their gift as the best one. Angela walk up to the arguing trio.
"Um, Guys." The trio ignored her.
"Guys." Angela said with more force in her voice. But, again the trio ignored her. She then remember what she practiced with Elisa. 'Alright, time to put them in their place.' She stood up straight, place her hands on her hips and with a firm loud voice she spoke.
"Guy!" The trio finally stop arguing.
"Look, I know you guys are going head over heels for me but I need you to stop. I want you to treat me like a member of the clan and not a prize to be won. So, stop with this whole competition thing you guys are having. If the day comes and I am ready to date I'll let you know but it has to be on my terms not just yours alone. Understand?"
The trio looked at each other and put their heads down in shame. They failed to realized that Angela was a part of their clan and they should treat her as such. And not just a prize to win.
"We're really sorry Angela." Broadway said.
"Yeah, we acted like a bunch of jerks." Brooklyn added.
"For now on we'll just back off and leave you alone." Lex said
Angela sigh and smiled at them, "Guys, I don't want you to back off, just slow things down. I really like all three of you. But, if anything is going to happen it will happen in time ok."
The boys understood where Angela was coming from. Angela walked up to each of the boys and gave them a kiss on the cheek. They all had goofy faces on them. As the sun slowly made it's presence known the clan took their positions. Angela did wish the night would have last a bit longer. Not wanting the fun night she had to end. In the beginning she was sad and missing her sisters. But, now she realized that she's not truly alone. She had someone to talk to and have fun with.
'The fun may have ended for now. But, there's more in future to come.'
The end.
