EPILOGUE
They call me crazy. Maybe I am, but so what? Maybe that's just me.
Skip, skip, skip… Skip, skip, skip… Skip, skip…
"April?" Rosa calls to me. "Come on, girl, it's time."
I come back to reality as I look at my best friend standing by my side in a flattering orange dress. She makes a beautiful Maid of Honor. Saraya, Tenille, and Foxy are my bridesmaids and they are dressed in similar dresses, but Rosa's is much more embellished. My own dress is white, with a long train, and I feel like a character in a movie. This is surreal, but it's my life. Somehow, this is my life!
It's an outdoor wedding. I see Colby standing near the officiant. He looks amazing in a tux. Beside him are his two best men, Dean and Joe. As always, Joe's hair is perfect and Dean's is a mess, and they both look very handsome. I begin walking down the aisle as the music plays and there are a million thoughts going through my head.
When I reach the front of the aisle, I stand next to the man I'm going to marry. I barely pay attention to the initial words the officiant speaks, but then it's time for our vows. Colby goes first.
"I, Colby, take thee, April, to be the Black Widow to my Hawkeye, because you deserve the spotlight and you're a badass. You are the Jean Grey to my Cyclops, my smarter, better half. You are the Ginny Weasley to my Harry Potter, because together, we are magic. There's nothing more to say except that I was put on this planet to be yours, and I will love you with every ounce of my soul until the day I die and beyond."
I'm trying not to cry at his words because those are the most awesome wedding vows ever. They're just so… Us. I smile at him and I scrap the words I've prepared in favor of speaking from my heart.
"I, April, take thee, Colby, to be my hero, my knight, my friend, and my love. You already named the best couples ever, so let me just say that I'll be all of those things with pleasure and I hope I can give you even a fraction of the happiness you've given to me. I love you, Colby Lopez, and I always will."
I look at our officiant and nod. He proceeds. "I now pronounce you husband and wife!" He declares. He turns to Colby. "You may kiss the bride."
Colby's lips on mine for the first time as my husband feel better than they ever have. Our friends and family cheer. I fall into his embrace and I know this is exactly where I want to be.
I close my eyes and toss the bouquet over my shoulder. Tenille squeals as she catches it, and at that exact moment, Taylor drops to his knees, takes her hand in his, and kisses it, asking, "Is that a yes, then?"
She smiles at him, her eyes shining, and says, "I bo-lieve that it is!" She pulls him up and kisses him.
My heart couldn't be happier. I look at Taylor and Tenille, Rosa and Drew, Nattie and Dean, Joe, Tommy, Saraya, Foxy, and even Scotty. Everyone has come here to celebrate with us today and I want this moment to last forever. I freeze it in my mind. I love these people so much. I realize that I've somehow stumbled upon my true happiness. I didn't think it was possible, but here I am, married to someone who treats me right, and surrounded by so many close friends.
I kiss my husband again and smile, knowing this new path I'm on will lead me exactly where I've always wanted to go, and whether I walk, run, or skip, Colby will be by my side.
THE END.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Thank you so much to everyone who read and reviewed this fic! I really enjoyed writing it and I hope you've all enjoyed reading it. Special thanks to TakerReigns for helping me sort out some ideas and pointing out what didn't work very well.
For those who are interested, I will be writing a companion fic to this one called Shining Stars. It will feature the points of view of Dean, Rosa, Nattie, Drew, Taylor, and Tenille, and tell the rest of the story that got left out because this was only from April's mind. Look for it soon.
