Paris is amazing. I've been before, but seeing it all with my husband makes it even better. To give him credit, he waits until Saturday before bringing up the talk I had with Lex at the Smackdown taping. "If this isn't what you want" he blurts suddenly as we walk hand in hand around the Eiffel Tower. "Then only you can change it." I look at him quickly. "I just don't know anymore, Jon" I groan. "I mean, if wrestling was what I wanted to do, I would have felt it, you know, there would have been some sort of pull there. But there isn't. The only thing I really feel strongly about, and what I want to do the most, is being your wife. Being there for you when you come home from tour, or tapings, or house shows, and being able to take care of you, rub your aches away, not be moaning with my own and not being able to enjoy down time." He nods slowly. "I understand" he says. "I feel like I pushed you into this..." "Get that thought out of your head right now" I warn. "If I didn't really want to do it, I wouldn't have proved myself at the performance centre, I would have been lazy so they didn't want me to take it further. I had to try, Jon. Now I can say that it's not what I want to do, because I've tried it. I'm not like some kid saying I don't like broccoli or something when I've never even tried it." He nods. "For what it's worth" he says. "You're a damn fine wrestler Lora. You picked it up so quickly. But if it's not what you want to do, I respect that decision. I mean, it's not like we're gonna get divorced just because you don't want to wrestle anymore, right? I mean, I'm not losing you that way too?" I shake my head. "You're not losing me Jon" I whisper. "Good" he whispers back. "Because if I haven't got you, I haven't got anything."
The weeks until the rumble fly by. Jon and I don't do house shows, we're only needed for tapings. The sabotage had gone well, Finn has had to learn to wrestle minus his boots a few times, he even lost a match because he didn't turn up. Well, he couldn't, I locked him in the locker room while Jon and I sat in the middle of the ring laughing. Thankfully, tonight the game is up, and tonight I get to go home with my husband. I skip along the corridor happily while I wait for our match. "Lora" Hunter calls. "Can I have a word?" I nod and skip along to his office, straight past him and I sit in his seat as he closes the door behind us.
"Hunter" I say, leaning back in his chair. "What a nice surprise. What can I do for you?" He laughs and sits in the seat I was obviously meant to have. "Well" he says. "It's been brought to my attention that you want to leave us. That you're not happy wrestling." I gulp quickly. "Did, uh, Jon tell you this?" I ask. He shakes his head. "Alexa did" he says. "Before she left she told me quite a few things, actually. I'm actually quite hurt that you didn't feel that you could come to me about this Lora. I mean, if your heart isn't in it, that's not a good advertisement for the company." "Ok" I say slowly, silently vowing to kill Lex via FaceTime, as soon as I work out if that's possible. "Let me ask you a question. Has my work in the ring been sloppy at any time during these past three weeks? Matches I've had with Summer, and the Bella's, and Rosa, has anything gone wrong due to me being sloppy or negligent?" He shakes his head, frowning at me. "So" I say. "Despite me being not happy doing this, you can't actually find fault with my work?" He shakes his head again. "Good" I say. "So, why are we here?" "Because I have an offer for you" he says. "But I needed to see his you felt about being here first." I nod, looking at him warily. "I'm not gonna lie to you Hunter" I say finally. "I don't wanna do this anymore. But, I realise I'm under contract for another what, ten months? I'm not that unprofessional that I'd jeopardise that. I mean, I still work here, don't I?" He nods quickly. "For as long as you want" he says. "We'll even give you an extension on your contract, if that's what you want?" "Don't push it Hunter" I warn. He laughs. "Anyway" he says. "This offer..."
I walk along the corridor in a daze. Nikki grins and winks at me as I walk past, trying to get to Jon who is talking to Colby with his back to me. I put my finger on my lips and Colby nods slightly, grinning as I spin Jon around and pin him against the wall before kissing him greedily. "I love you" I moan. "And as much as I love being around you back here, I have a match, and you'd better be fucking watching." He frowns as I kiss him once more before heading to Nikki at the gorilla position. We have a match, tonight, at the Rumble, and her belt is coming home with me.
