Danielle hadn't talked to Nick since that night at the club. She couldn't believe how he didn't trust her and what she was saying. That night she came home crying and went straight to bed but kept having a dream about that night over and over didn't want to believe that everyone could be that cruel to her. She thought things were going so well with her living here. It ws hard having her dad away all the time but the guys made up for felt like she belong here and now she didn't. When it came to school when she would see one of them in the hall she would walk the other way. In class she wasn't sitting next to them anymore she went back to sitting up near the front. She just needed her space and she felt betrayed. The thing that hurt her the most wasn't Nick or Ryan but how Adam her own Uncle didn't even get up and defend her to the other two.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were hanging out with your friends from your old school at your house tonight?"
"I was but when I got home and my dad had canceled my friends coming over because he had to leave for business. We had a change of plans and came shopping at the mall. My friends were leaving when I bumped into everyone and they invited me along"
"I thought I could trust you!"
"You can."
"I don't think I can."
"Fine then I am going to dance with some else then."
"Danielle, you still awake I'm home."
Derek walked around the house looking for his little girl. She still couldn't get over what happened. She would have this dream every night. Danny just wanted to forget about all of it and move on. He then walked into his daughter's room and saw her in her bed sleeping but not peacefully. Derek felt so bad that he wasn't around as much as he hoped he could be. He still felt like there wasn't that much of a connection there. He knew that the off season was approaching soon. They were in the playoffs for the cup and he didn't want to get distracted and with all the practices they had it seemed like Danny got the short end of the stick. He was glad that his family was there to help him out when he had to travel but this wasn't what he had planned. Now seeing her sleeping there and having issues sleeping he couldn't help but blame himself for all of this. he looked like she was in pain. He could see the tears coming down her face. He ran over to her and tried to wake her up.
"Danny wake up. Sweetie wake up."
"What? Huh? What is going on?"
"You were having a bad dream. Everything is okay now. What happened I thought you would be at your grandparents?"
"Dad I can't go over there. Something happened last week and I don't know how to get over it. That is what my dream was about,it was the same night over and over again. When you were got pulled into an emeergency practice I didn't want to just sit around so I met up with my friends at the mall. After some time they left and I bumped into girls from my current school. I thought they wanted to get to know me. We went to this club that just opened in the mall, Nick was there and he thought I lied to him because I said I would be home tonight with girls from my old school. When I told him you canceled that and we came to the mall he didn't believe me. The worst part was that Adam was there and he didn't do anything to defend me to Nick."
"Baby I am so sorry I should have never let you get hurt."
"Dad you couldn't help it I was the one who walked into that it is my own fault."
"You just go to sleep I will deal with all of this."
"Dad you don't have to do anything. I will be fine."
Danielle was now use to have to taking care of herself without a parent there to help her. Ever since she made her choice her mom stopped talking to her and her dad is always gone because of hockey. She just use to surviving on her own. She had Adam and her grandparents but after last week she had cut everyone out. She couldn't look at anyone let alone talk to them. Danny knew that her dad meant well but he didn't know how to deal with these things, he had never done it before and saying it would be fine that he will fix everything was only going to make it worse for her. She was prepared to let this ride out. She just hoped her dad would do the same thing and just let this work its way out.
"But you don't have to deal with it by yourself I am here for you."
She didn't want to get it a fight with her dad but he kinda brought this up so now she had to say what she felt She didn't want to stay here anymore. It seemed like the only option for her. Danny knew that over time things would get better she had to do these kinds of things at her old school. She knew it wouldn't be the same anymore and she didn't want to be around people who didn't trust her. She couldn't trust them anymore which hurt her more than the set up. Danny knew how she would make this all better for everyone and she knew some people would be upset but this was the best way to do it.
"You're not here for me. You could leave at any moment because of hockey. I lost my mom to get to know you but I haven't even gotten to know you. I am just going to call my mom and see if I can go home."
"Danielle you can't leave me. I just found out I have a daughter and now you want to leave. I can't and won't let you go."
"But you have to because it is my choice to make and I don't want to be here anymore. I don't have nay friends and I don't have nay parents here too." With that she turned off her light and went to bed. She knew in the morning she was going to have to call her mom to see if she could go back and live with her.
