It had been a week since she talked to her mom but she was ready to go home. Danielle didn't want to be here anymore. She thought it was going to be different. She thought that she was going to get to know her dad. That never happened though he was too busy playing hockey. She had finished packing up all her things. Danielle was ready to go to New York to live with her mom. She felt like she made the wrong decision. It would have been better if she just left and got to know her dad when he was on the off season. Now she didn't think they could bridge the gap that was created. She felt lost and hopeless. Nick had betrayed her and she didn't have any friends like she thought she would. It was nice to get to know her Aunts and Uncle but that could only get you so far. Those girls were mean and she never wanted to see them again. She was hoping to be gone before the week started up again. She didn't realize how much stuff she had until she had to put all her things into a few boxes. She hadn't really told her father that she was leaving. He still believed that it was just an idea in her head and that she wasn't really leaving. This is why her mother left because he couldn't give up hockey. Danielle didn't blame him, he loved playing and she didn't want to make him give up something he loved. She was just wishing that he would love her a little more than a game that would end soon. She heard the doorbell and she figured that it was her mom who was finally here. She ran downstairs to get the door. She opened it and was so happy to see her mom again.

"Mom I missed you so much."

"Danny I am glad to see you again. I am sorry that I left so fast I was just hurt that you wanted to stay with your dad."

"I thought it was going to be different but it wasn't. Dad never choose me over hockey. That hurts worse than anything."

"I'm sorry baby. I thought he would step up and give up hockey just a little. Let's go and get your things."

They walked upstairs to her room. She knew her dad was going to be a practice for a while. She didn't want him to be here when she was leaving. She wanted in and out with no issues. Danielle was done with issues for a while. She wanted to get back to normal life and she figured she could visit her dad when she had time. They each grabbed boxes and headed to the car downstairs. It took about an hour to pack everything up. Danielle walked up to her room one more time. She looked around making sure she didn't forget anything. It was hard to not remember the first time she moved in here when she found out who her dad was and they decided to try and be a family. That didn't last long but she enjoyed it while it lasted and she missed those few months when everyone was together.

"Are you ready to go Danny?"

"Yes I am ready to head to New York."

"Let's get going. We have a long drive ahead of us."

Danielle got into the car. She looked behind her as they pulled away from the building she called home for the last few months. She noticed as they were turning the corner that her dad's car was pulling up to the curb. She had a ting of pain. Danielle was ready to look forward to what her future held for her. She was onto making new friends. Things were going to go back to how they were before she met her father.

"I'm so glad to be with you again. This will be back to normal now."

"Danny are you going to tell me what really happened?"

"It was horrible mom, I met this guy Nick, we were getting along really well. I thought I was starting to make new friends because one day at the mall I ran into girls from my class. They invited me to this club that was at the mall. I guess it was all one big joke to get Nick to not like me. Well it worked because he got mad at the club and called me a liar. He tried to apologize but then those girls came up telling me I needed to stay away from him. Not having anyone to talk to was the worse. Dad wasn't there to see that I was hurting and I knew that this would never happen if you were around. You could always tell when I was hurting. I just wanted my mom again."

"Don't worry sweetie. I have set everything up you will love your new school and your room isn't as big as you had but it is a decent size room."

Danielle could just picture what her life in the city looked like. She saw herself going to parks and hanging out with friends. Going shopping and just having fun. She hoped that by moving away she was still able to stay close to her family but with them being far away she wasn't sure how well that would work. She was kept away before because her mom didn't want them to see the similarities she shared with her dad. No one knew that my mom and dad were dating let alone hooking up with each other. I guess they loved each other at one point but neither of them talked about each other. She always thought that when she got both her parents that her life would just click together. When that happened it was like she was being teased when it was pulled apart. She felt her phone start to vibrate. Danielle looked down and saw that her dad was calling her. He was probably wondering where she was, she was supposed to be home when he got there. She knew she would have to talk to him at some point and it would just be better now than to wait.

"Hi Dad."

"Hey baby where are you? I thought you were going to be home when I got back."

"I know but some things came up and I decided that it would be best for me to go live with mom. She came and picked me up an hour ago. I'm sorry I tried telling you before but you just thought it was an idea in my head and I would get over it."

"I don't get why you left."

"I left because you were never home. You always choose hockey over me. I get that you love the sport but you love it more than me. I wanted you to choose me at least once but that can never happen. It is just best if I went with mom. Maybe on the off season I will be able to see you more and we can get to know each other than."

"I wish you would have talked to me before you left."

"Dad I knew you were going to try to stop me that is why I had to do it when I knew you were out of the house."

Danielle hung up the phone and just rest her head against the window. She was ready to be out of this car and in New York. She was just hoping to take a nap and to just sleep the rest of the way. She felt so drained. Her mom watched her from the driver's seat. Casey could see the worry in her daughters face. She felt like she had failed her. Now was her time to make it up. After driving for an hour Danielle had finally fell asleep. Now she looked peaceful and how it was before she left. Now it was time to wait and see how well New York would treat Danielle. Casey wished that Derek would have done things differently. They had issues before and she thought they worked through them but it seems like they still had some issues that they needed to work on.
