Disclaimer: I do not own digimon.
Ok, so this chapter took an extremely long time to write and I would've updated it sooner, but I don't know when the next time I'll be able to post Chapter 10 and I wanted to fit as much as I could into this chapter to keep you guys busy until the next upload. A little warning, this chapter is really, really long so please don't be upset with me. I think I got everyone's perspective in this chapter so you can see what is going on with each character, which is really starting to heat up and cause future events in this story that are going to come up soon.
Note: I sort of alter and leave out some parts/digimon in this chapter. For example, I ignore Fanglongmon and say that the leader of the Digimon Soverign was really a Seraphimon who actually was... uh, you guys will find out in this chapter. Please don't hate on my ideas or stuff. If you feel I've left anything super important out then please let me know in a review/message, but this is a fanfic so I do try to use my own ideas so please don't hate if you don't like. Kapeesh? ^^
Thanks for the two reviews for last chapter Keeper of Worlds and Katia, they really mean a lot, and I promise Patamon will not be killed off again in this story :) . Anyways, I think I've done enough rambling for now and I'm sure you guys want to get on to the chapter, and there's a lot of good action and stuff in here so I hope you all like it. Remember: please please please review, favorite, follow, etc. because it really motivates me to keep on writing and help make me a better writer. Until next time, peace out!
Chapter 9:
He sat with his head down focusing on the ground. He couldn't look anyone in the eyes even though everyone kept sending him worried glances. Ever since Kari had made her little pep talk and Izzy had pried some information out of MarineDevimon, he had felt utterly embarrassed. He was the leader of the digidestineds. Tai, the one with the goggles, the one everybody could trust and follow into any battle they faced. But here he sat, tied up to a tree, sitting next to who he thought was his girlfriend and best friend, Sora and Matt. Sora had tried to cheer him up, and Matt was just like him; staring at the ground with a shameful look.
How had he got them into this place? How could he have been so foolish as to fall into MarineDevimon's trap? And why couldn't he think of anything to help them get out of here? Every plan he thought of was rubbish, and there was nothing he could do. He had to rely on TK, Cody, Mimi, Michael, and Willis to free them from MarineDevimon and his group of digimon he had assembled. He hated having to depend on others, he was the rock, the one who would not fall, the brave, courageous leader he had always been… but now he couldn't even muster a hint of courage.
He shook his head. 'No Tai,' he thought to himself, 'I can't think like that. We will get out of here; we're digidestineds!' But then he looked around and found their current situation hopeless, and his spirits were instantly put down. He vowed to himself that if, by some miracle, they do survive this then he would never fail again. No one was going to bring him down; not this Daemon, not any other digimon, and not any human either. He was going to make sure he never got to this low again. His group needed him to be that leader, Sora needed him too, and for now he has failed. Next time, if there is a next time, he will do anything he can to destroy any evil force that threatens them, and he won't ever let Sora down again.
She watched as her boyfriend, Tai, suddenly bit his lip with a look of sheer determination. For the past ten minutes or so she had been trying to cheer him up, but Tai wouldn't even acknowledge that she was even there. And she couldn't blame him. Their situation sure seemed to be hopeless. As much as she loved Mimi, TK, and the others, she just didn't think they had it in them to defeat MarineDevimon and the other digimon; if she and the others had fallen into a trap and was caught so easy she really didn't like their chances.
Yet, she still had to believe. This couldn't be the end, it just couldn't. But, what if it was? No, it couldn't be. There were so many more things she wanted to do. She wanted to be a fashion designer. She wanted to travel the world. She wanted to spend more time with Biyomon and her friends. She wanted marry, have kids even, and live happily ever after. She wanted to be with Tai…
"Tai, we're going to get out of this, together," she said.
Tai looked up at her and nodded, "Yeah, we are. And when we get out of this I won't fail you guys. Sora, I won't fail you. I promise."
His voice clearly showed determination and maybe even a hint of disappointment. Did Tai really think he let them all down? That she was disappointed in him?
"Tai, you haven't failed me or anybody else," she sympathized, "As long as you keep trying your best and keep on loving you will never fail anyone."
Tai looked away for a second and she could tell that he didn't believe her, but then he looked back at her and said with such force yet gentle, "I love you Sora. Please don't leave me."
She nodded while fighting back tears, "I love you too Tai."
It was really hard to ignore the little love scene going on to his right, especially since he really didn't like Tai right now and he didn't think Sora should be with him- he didn't love her, mind you, he just wishes he could spend more time with her, be a better friend to her, and help make her life as perfect as it can be- although Sora didn't think he and she should be together either so that never was going to happen, but he had more important things on his mind.
MarineDevimon and his forces, consisting of some fifteen digimon or so, were walking around their camp, waiting for the other digidestineds to show up. Those other digidestineds included his brother TK, Mimi, Cody, Michael, and Willis. Although over half their team was being held captive, he believed that the others would do whatever it takes to rescue them and defeat MarineDevimon. That was what worried him, though. What if TK did something irrational trying to save them? Granted, it wouldn't be him that TK would be trying to save. TK hated him, that much was clear. He just wanted his little brother to be careful and stay out of trouble, but his brother started to despise him because of that. TK acted like he never lost his memory and that everything was fine and dandy. Well, although he didn't talk to anyone about it, things were not fine and dandy, at least for him.
He had almost lost his little brother, and he had lost his mother, which one stung the most he did not know. What he did know was that he really missed his mom. When they were little he never got to see much of her because of the divorce, and then she had to leave him and go to France with TK. They were his family, they were the ones who could bring their family back together. He had always wished that his mother and father would re-marry and they would all live together like a happy family, but now that his mother was dead that hope was crushed.
The only thing left of a family he had was TK and his dad. Dad, though, was out of the picture since he worked nonstop and never was home to spend time with. At least dad wasn't pushing him away and telling him to back off. TK just didn't understand. He could not afford to let his brother go; he was the only family he had left. The one relationship he could trust to never go away because it holds a blood bond. TK seemed to be pushing farther and farther away, though, and it was getting hard for him to keep trying to bring TK back in.
Everyone in his life seemed to be pushing away from him, not just TK. Tai, his best friend, was being a complete idiot; Sora… well… he just… uhhh, Izzy always took Tai's side and constantly grew annoyed with him; Joe was too busy doing homework; Mimi was in America; and then the others were too young and immature. What used to be the inseparable digidestineds now seemed to be a joke. He was the odd ball out. No one cared about him. Maybe it was a good thing they all were about to die.
No, he couldn't think like that. He had to make sure he didn't lose TK, and he also had to try restoring his relationships with the others because, as much as he didn't want to think so, he is pushing away from his friends just as much as they are pushing away from him. Wasn't he the wielder of friendship? Yes, and he could do it. He could make things right. He had to, or else he'd end up all alone.
His mind was reeling with the information he had learned from MarineDevimon. So there really are more evil digimon out there. He really hoped MarineDevimon was just a simple rogue digimon, but his fears were confirmed. This Daemon character did not sound very friendly, and they would only face him if they escaped and defeated MarineDevimon, which didn't seem very likely at the time.
He had to think of a plan. He was the brains of the digidestineds, and he knew the ones who weren't captured could only do so much. They had to be ready.
"Izzy, what are you thinking?" Joe asked.
What could they do? They needed to be prepared. He didn't even realize Joe had spoke.
"Izzy?"
"Huh? Oh, sorry Joe. I'm trying to think of a plan to get us out of here."
"Right. What do you have in mind?"
"I…"
Just then there was an explosion about three hundred meters away from where they were being held captive. The Divermon that were standing watch started running towards the explosion along with MarineDevimon and the other digimon. Then he felt the ropes binding his arms to the back of the tree break loose.
"I think you guys should be hugging us or something," a high-pitched voice said from behind them.
Now that he was free he stood up and turned around to see Terriermon and Lopmon standing side by side smiling up at them.
"Happy to see us?" Lopmon asked.
He smiled back, "You bet!"
Now it was time to get this show on the road.
As TK and Cody brought all of them up to speed, she couldn't help but feel excited. She had always had to miss out on all of the battles in the Digital World along with all the digidestined meetings because of how far away she lived. She rarely got a chance to save the day anymore, but today was going to be her chance to make a stunning appearance, Princess Mimi style.
She was even more excited to get away from Michael. Michael had asked her out. She should have known it was coming, but she was too naïve to believe that Michael had feelings for her. Well, she actually was just hoping he didn't have feelings for her because she was in love with… no, not love… liked, Izzy. She wondered sometimes how it even happened, but she did know that whenever she was with another guy there was always something missing. Michael, Michael seemed to have it all, but there was still something wrong. She loved Michael, don't get her wrong, but as a friend only. Michael was getting a bit pushy though; he even was about to kiss her! No, she didn't love Michael, she loved Izzy, but how could she and Izzy ever possibly start dating?
But she couldn't think about boys at a time like this, she had to save her friends!
"So Michael, Willis, and Cody will go around the back to save the others, while Mimi and myself will create a diversion," TK said.
"And then we'll save the day!" she chimed in.
"But what if you guys aren't able to hold MarineDevimon and his gang off?" Willis asked. He clearly wasn't too happy about this plan.
"We'll be fine. Besides, once you guys free the others you all will be able to join us."
"You better leave some Divermon whooping for me!" Terriermon proclaimed.
"Well you better hurry then or Palmon will get them all before you even make it there," she told the little terrier digimon. Terriermon stuck his tongue out at her making her smile.
Willis looked at Michael and Cody and they all nodded.
"So are we ready or what? Let's get this party started!"
How could Mimi treat this whole situation like it was some game they all were a part of? This was not time for her immaturity. One would think that someone so old would have some sort of common sense…
He did his best to ignore Mimi; he had serious business to do. He and Willis started walking through the woods making sure to avoid any of the digimon standing watch. They then stopped, though, realizing Michael wasn't with them.
"Be careful Mimi," Michael said.
Mimi awkwardly smile back and muttered a "You too," before Michael turned and caught up with them, Betamon following behind.
He knew something was going on there, but he didn't think too much on it. He just wanted to free the others and go home. He was tired from kendo and was not really in the mood to deal with any life-threatening situations.
"How are you feeling Cody?" Armadillomon asked him as they kept weaving between the trees.
"I'm fine, I just want to get this done and go home."
He noticed Willis nod his head. Willis didn't seem to be too happy to be here either. He also looked at Michael who was staring in front of him with an absent look, as if he were thinking really hard about something, or someone.
He didn't feel comfortable with these two digidestineds. Sure, he had fought alongside them in a couple of battles, but he didn't really know the two very well. He practically never saw Michael and he rarely saw Willis if, by some chance, he decided to hang out with the younger digidestineds, which wasn't too often. As much as he knew the two of them were capable of fighting, he didn't like trusting them to have his back, at least not as much as one of the others. Although he was happy he didn't have to deal with Mimi.
Before he knew it, they finally saw the others tied up not too far ahead. He stopped along with Michael and Willis, and they waited silently for a few moments. Then they heard an explosion which was more than likely Angemon sending off a Hand of Fate. The distraction was under way; now it was their turn.
"Let's go."
Well this really sucked. He hadn't even had a chance to digivolve Veemon and have his partner kick their butts before the enemy digimon had overtook them. It was a well-set trap, he had to admit, but the fact that he and the others fell right into it had really pissed him off. If only he could break through these ropes.
He struggled again for the umpteenth time and again he had no luck. He saw one of the Divermon who were standing guard look at him and laugh. He sent a glare at the digimon, but this only seemed to humor Divermon even more.
He looked to his left and saw his beautiful girlfriend Kari bite her lip as she looked down at the ground.
"What's the matter Kari?"
At first she didn't make any hint that she had heard him and he was about to ask her again before she replied, "I just wish they will be careful."
"Who, Kari?" Yolei asked, butting in on their conversation.
"TK and the others. I hope they don't fall into a trap like we did."
Great, just what he wanted; Kari was all uptight about that dumb blonde. She really seemed to be worried too, so much that she wondered if she would worry as much if he were the one who had to rescue them. But, instead of scolding her girlfriend for caring about that dumb, girlfriend stealer digidestined, he comforted her.
"Come on Kari. Like you said earlier, we have to trust in the TK and the others, they'll pull through for us."
Kari smiled at him and nodded. "You're right Davis, thank you."
He smiled back at her calmly, but really his insides were having a little party. Another point for the brilliant Davis! Oh yeah!
Just then there was an explosion. The Divermon who had been standing guard ran over to catch up with MarineDevimon and the other digimon who were running towards the explosion. Looks like the others got here, he wished he could help, but right now he just had to wait.
He hated waiting! He was not one to sit on the sidelines, especially when it was going to be TK saving the day if he didn't do something. He tried breaking free of the ropes again, and to his surprise he was able to break free.
Now that he was freed, he quickly stood up and looked behind him; there was no way he would be able to break the ropes on his own. He turned to see Cody and Armadillomon standing by the tree he had previously been attached to.
"Cody! What are you doing here?"
Cody facepalmed. "I don't know, definitely not saving the day or anything."
Cody then was unexpectedly pulled into a hug by Yolei.
"I didn't think we'd ever get out of here! Thank you Cody!"
As Cody pushed Yolei away, he turned to see that everyone else had been freed too including the digimon. He high-fived Veemon as his partner ran up to his side.
"Great to be back together with ya Davis!"
"You too buddy!"
As all the digidestineds and their partners reunited, they turned to Cody, Michael, and Willis to hear what was going on.
"What was that explosion you guys?" Tai asked the others.
"And where's TK?" Matt added.
"And Mimi too!" Sora said, including the prissy digidestined.
"Right now they're distracting the others, but we don't know how long they can last without us."
He nodded. "So we better get going then!"
"Right, but first…" Tai started, but he didn't have time to wait for any more plans. He had to help out his friends, that and he couldn't let TK save the day. He had to prove to Kari that he was better than TK. Not only that, he had to prove to the others that he did know what he was doing and that they could trust and respect him.
"Come on Veemon!" he told his partner. His partner nodded and they turned and sprinted toward the explosion. As he ran, he had a determined look on his face. He knew what he had to do, and nothing was going to stop him.
"Davis, wait up!" Tai screamed trying to make Davis stop his pursuit for the battle, but it was to no avail.
He couldn't help but smile as his best friend ran off on his own acting exactly like Davis always did.
"Davis is going to get himself hurt one of these times if he doesn't start thinking before he acts," Cody commented.
"Especially if he is running that fast and falls right on his face. Oh I wish he would fall on his face!" Yolei wished.
"I don't think that would do much, his head is pretty thick; it would take a lot more than that short of a fall to mess him up," he said.
Yolei laughed. He tried to suppress it, but he ended up letting out a couple of chuckles as well. There was just something about Yolei and her laugh that made him feel all happy and warm inside…
"Guys, now is not the time to fooling around," Matt commented with a harsh tone.
"They're just trying to lighten the mood up Matt," Kari defended them, using a kind, but unfaltering voice.
Matt didn't respond, but he didn't seem any more relaxed by Kari's comment either.
"We do have more serious stuff on our plate right now though!" Tai said. "So let's digivolve and go help our friends before they become goners!"
Everyone nodded and brought out their digivices. As he pulled out his he looked at Yolei giving her a wink. Turning his attention to Wormon he asked, "You ready partner?"
"You know it!"
He smiled, and felt a familiar rush of power go through him as his digivice started glowing.
"Let's go then. Digivolve!"
She was flying in the sky heading at a fast pace towards the battle that was going on. Although the air felt chilling to her, her face still felt warm as if she were still blushing when Ken had winked at her. He was just so cute, and it even seemed that he was even maybe into her.
The excitement flowing through her was so much more than she had felt in a long time. Especially since she had felt so down and hopeless a few moments ago. Being tied up was definitely not her thing, and she sure didn't like having her life in danger. But, despite all this, she couldn't help but be happy that she was finally involved in something important. She wasn't there for the last couple of rogue digimon attacks, and it had been a long time since she had to have Hawkmon digivolve. Although her current situation was dangerous, she couldn't help but be antsy and excited for this upcoming battle.
She could tell Aquilamon really wanted to fight as well. He was flying a lot faster than usual, and he was even passing some of the other digimon including MegaKabuterimon, ExVeemon- who Davis had made digivolve after seeing all of them pass him- and MetalGreymon.
As much as she was excited, though, she didn't like having to fight alongside some of the older digidestineds. It wasn't that she didn't like them or anything, but there were many times where she and the other younger generation digidestineds would go into the Digital World and battle rogue digimon on their own. They all had gotten so along with each other and they were able to defeat any mon that challenged them. Besides that, they just got along well with each other. It seemed like the older ones were getting in a lot more arguments and she didn't like having to be a part of that. Conflict was not her thing; in fact, she was the exact opposite. She was the possessor of the digi-egg of love, and it was clear that love was lacking from the older digidestineds.
But she had to avert her mind as she and a couple of the others were in close range of the battle. It was fighting time.
"Are you ready Mimi?"
He looked at his friend who had a big smile on her face. She nodded.
"Let's save the day TK!"
They both grabbed their digivices and their partners digivolved to their ultimate level. He looked MagnaAngemon up and down. He really was beautiful, but at the same time he was intimidating. Holy power seemed to radiate from the angel digimon. If you were for good, this digimon was the greatest ally you had; if you were for evil, well, you better watch out. He was glad he was on MagnaAngemon's side. Lillymon didn't seem as intimidating as MagnaAngemon, but he knew from experience just how agile and powerful this digimon was. She could blast away her foes with ease using her Flower Cannon and hold her own against most digimon. He had to admit that they were going to make a great distraction.
He wondered how long they were going to be able to hold off MarineDevimon and the other evil digimon, but he knew they had to do their best. He had to save his friends. He had to save his brother. He had to save Kari.
As much as he didn't like a lot of his friends right now, he knew that he had to save them. Sure they were fighting all the time, but the digidestineds were the only friends he had. They were the ones who had helped him when he was lost and trying to regain his memory. He couldn't lose them. Even his brother. As much as he has been a jerk towards Matt, he still loved him more than he knew. With his dad gone most of the day, Matt was the only family he had left. He needed his brother, and he knew he had to stop being so hard on him. He couldn't lose any more of his family.
But as much as he kept thinking about his brother, he thought just as much about Kari. If he, Mimi, and the others failed, then he wouldn't see her ever again. That smile that brightened his day, gone. Those twinkling, auburn eyes no longer with life. His best friend, the one who was always there for him, to help listen to him complain about how much his life sucked at times or even about how boring some of his teachers were. She was the reason he was able to move on and start healing those four years ago. He couldn't imagine losing her.
"TK, are you ready?"
"What?" he asked, tossing aside his thoughts, "Oh, yeah. Let's do it."
Mimi smiled at him and MagnaAngemon nodded. Then the two digimon flew out of the tree line and he and Mimi followed. The distraction begins.
"Excaliber!"
MagnaAngemon yelled out his attack. The purple beam of light shot out from the angel's drawn sword striking the unexpecting Sorciermon causing an explosion. Sorciermon was struck and dispersed into many bits of flying data that instantly flew up to the sky towards Primary Village. 'Too easy,' was his first thought, and his thought was confirmed as instantly a group of about fifteen digimon, including MarineDevimon, instantly charged after them.
"You ready Mimi?" he asked his friend who was standing a ways away from him next to her partner Lillymon.
Mimi nodded at him and Lillymon flew up and took stance waiting for the enemy digimon to reach them.
It didn't take long. Within a matter of seconds the two ultimate digimon were fending off the enemy digimon. He tried his best to recognize some of the digimon. There were five Divermon, a mermaid looking digimon, an ice version of Ogremon and Devimon and Gotsumon, a darker colored Seadramon, two Gesomon, a Skorpiomon, two Octomon, an Ebidramon, and then MarineDevimon. He had to admit, MarineDevimon had gathered a strong group of digimon, and he knew that they all wouldn't go away as easily as Sorciermon had.
"Gate of Destiny!"
MagnaAngemon drew a circle in the air with Excaliber and a gate materialized and opened up as his partner flew out of the way.
"Flower Cannon!" Lillymon yelled out! The flower fairy digimon had flown so that she was behind the charging digimon and facing the gate. She loosed out an energy blast that hit the ground causing a few digimon to fly up in the air. He watched as one of the Octomon and Icemon became victim to the Gate of Destiny and was sucked in.
MagnaAngemon flew down to the ground and used his purple energy beam sword to strike at the other Octomon who was charging at him with his own metal sword. MagnaAngemon easily overpowered the digimon and Octomon flew into the gate. This maneuver forced his partner to turn his back away from the other evil digimon causing him to be struck in the back by a blast sent out from WaruSeadramon.
He resisted the urge to run after his partner as MagnaAngemon left his feet and landed hard on his stomach. He quickly glanced over his shoulder to see one of the Divermon throw a spear at him. MagnaAngemon quickly dodged the attack, but then IceDevimon lunged towards the angel with his claw outstretched. MagnaAngemon drew his sword and quickly warded off IceDevimon, but then Hyogamon jumped up preparing an attack with his ice cudgel. MagnaAngemon flew up just in time avoiding Hyogamon's strike.
He looked away from his partner to see how Lillymon was doing. Lillymon appeared to have put a wreath around one of the Divermon and this Divermon was attacking his fellow combatants. That was a pretty nifty trick, he had to admit. But Lillymon had her hands full as well. Just as she sent a canon shot towards Scorpiomon, the two Gesomon stretched out their tentacles trying to strike Lillymon out of the ground. The fairy was too fast for them, and Lillymon summoned a vine and thrust it towards a Gesomon impaling the digimon and causing it to deteriorate. Just when things seemed to be on the upside for Lillymon, she was struck by a red energy beam. He looked towards where the beam was shot and saw Mermaimon smiling wickedly, holding her anchor close to her.
He then observed the overall battle. MagnaAngemon was facing IceDevimon, Hyogamon, WaruSeadramon, and two Divermon, while Lillymon was struggling to fight off Mermaimon, Gesomon, Scorpiomon, and Ebidramon. As much as it seemed like they couldn't be more outnumbered, he couldn't help but feel as if he was not accounting for one of the other digimon. And then it clicked.
He turned and saw MarineDevimon no more than fifteen feet away from Mimi. He sprinted towards his friend shouting out, "Mimi! Run!"
Mimi tore her eyes away from Lillymon to look at him in confusion and then turn to see MarineDevimon walking up to her. She instantly screamed out in panic. He needed to get to here fast.
"Evil Wind!" he heard MarineDevimon announce as he drew back his tentacles and thrust them forward causing black winds to fly right at Mimi.
He dove and reached out his arms. They just barely reached Mimi and he pushed her down to the ground. Luckily for him he was able to push Mimi out of the way attack; unlucky for him he was now in the attack's path. The winds struck him and he was pushed back by the strong force of the attack. He flew back and hit ground hard. He could see stars as he barrel rolled onto his stomach and tried to push himself up to his feet.
MarineDevimon laughed and now faced Mimi who was looking around for a place to run, but MarinDevimon had her backed up to a tree. He also saw Lillymon and MagnaAngemon quickly tiring from the battle. The Gate of Destiny was closed as MagnaAngemon didn't have enough strength to keep it open, and both digimon were now in a defensive stance trying to ward off each attack, not having a chance to land one of their own attacks. They couldn't keep going on like this. Where were the others?
After a couple of seconds MagnaAngemon and Lillymon were struck to the ground, struggling to get up, and MarineDevimon was about to strike Mimi. It looked like it was over, but then…
"Heaven's Charm!"
"Wolf Claw!"
MarineDevimon was hit in the back hard and the digimon surrounding his and Mimi's partners were blasted away from them. He recognized the voices of the digimon who attacked too, Matt and Kari. He knew he was safe now.
The closer they got to the battle the more worried she became. MagnaAngemon and Lillymon were struggling to ward off the digimon they were facing and MarineDevimon was about to attack Mimi. She spotted TK who was taking in the scene, but then she saw a look of worry appear on the blonde's face as he started running towards Mimi. Leave it up to TK to make some bold move like that.
"TK! No!" she heard Matt shout out from beside her. She and Matt were leading the others as their two digimon were moving as fast as they could towards the battle. Obviously he had seen exactly what she had just seen.
MarineDevimon loosed out an attack towards Mimi, but TK got their first pushing Mimi out of the way but leaving himself vulnerable. TK was hit by the attack and was pushed back, hitting the ground hard. She winced and instantly was afraid TK was dangerously hurt, but he ended up rolling over and pushed himself up to his knees. As much as she hated it when TK did things like this, she had to admit that it was really courageous and just showed how much TK cared about everyone. It really was… what was the word… attractive? No, that had a certain connotation to it, but still, she couldn't think of a different word.
But she couldn't think about this. MagnaAngemon and Lillymon were both on the ground struggling to get up. MarineDevimon now had Mimi cornered and TK still hadn't gotten to his feet yet.
"WereGarurumon!" Matt shouted.
"Do it Angewomom!" Kari agreed.
"Heaven's Charm!"
"Wolf Claw!"
Angewomon stopped flying abruptly and put her hands together in front of her. When she separated them a pink beam of energy flew right above her two allies striking back all of the evil digimon. She also saw WereGarurumon jump towards MarineDevimon and strike him with one of his claws.
The others quickly followed behind sending attacks of their own. While her friends joined the fight Angewomon flew to the ground and she jumped off. After quickly telling her partner to be careful she ran to TK, Matt joining her when she was a couple of feet away.
"TK, are you ok?" Matt asked.
The two of them offered their hands to TK who gripped both of them. They pulled him up to his feet and held him steady as he staggered on his feet.
"How are you feeling TK?" she asked her friend.
"I'm good now, thanks to you guys," he said with a pained tone, though when TK finally got his bearings he smiled as if everything was just dandy.
"Are you sure you're ok TK?" Matt asked hesitantly. She was afraid TK was going to burst out in anger again and she could tell Matt was as well.
TK simply nodded though. "I am."
Well that was definitely an improvement. Matt seemed overjoyed by TK's reactionand brought him into a hug. TK hesitated, but then returned the embrace as well. She couldn't help but smile as the two brothers finally were able to be together without snapping at each other.
"I was afraid I was going to lose you," Matt muttered, sounding like he was holding back tears.
"You can't lose me that easily," TK said with a smile, pulling away from the hug. Matt let out a laugh, and then TK turned to face her.
"I'm glad you're alright," he said simply. She nodded and had the strong urge to hug him, but then she heard Davis and a couple of the others run up to them.
"Hey TK! You're still alive," Davis said, putting his arm around her shoulder.
The smile left TK's face and he muttered a "Yep."
They soon were joined by Michael, Willis, Cody, Tai, Izzy, Joe, Sora, Yolei, Ken, and Mimi. She noticed that they all were together, and for the first time in a long time they were together with smiles on their faces and all in good spirits. It was definitely a nice change of pace.
"You're finished MarineDevimon," she heard her partner declare in her heavenly voice, "You and your little army."
MarineDevimon just laughed. "You think you've beaten me just cause you all are together now? Well think again! Daemon didn't hire me because I was so weak as to lose to you digimon. No, I have power you can't even imagine."
As MarineDevimon continued his little speech, a dark aura started surrounding him and the only other digimon that was not deteriorated, Mermaimon.
"You may think you have defeated me, but think again. Get ready to be rocked out of your boat. Fusion Evolution!"
MarineDevimon shouted out the last two words, and once they left his mouth him and Mermaimon started rising up in the air. Their forms drew close to each other and became disfigured and started twirling around each other, just like when they used to DNA digivolve their partners. When the process was over, where MarineDevimon once was now stood a huge, dog looking digimon with two spiked clubs sticking out of his shoulders. He had a shield on his left shoulder, and a long bushy fur coat that surrounded his entire body save for his long tail and muscular arms and legs. The digimon's fur was pitch black, his eyes were a dark red, and his shield and clubs had a spotted design with both colors.
"Uh, guys, what just happened?" Yolei asked to nobody in particular.
The digimon laughed at their bewildered and scared faces. "Allow me to introduce myself. The name's Vikemon; I fused with Mermaimon as MarineDevimon to digivolve into this form. Pretty cool, huh?"
"What? How could he do that? It does not make logical sense?" Izzy proclaimed.
She shook her head, "I don't think it matters how Izzy."
"Kari's right," Tai agreed, "We need to stop him. Let's go MetalGreymon!"
They all encouraged their partners as another battle began. Immediately Vikemon proved to be a much tougher foe than MarineDevimon and his entire army now that he was, what she assumed, at mega level. This really changed their odds. Even though they had their own militia of fourteen digimon varying between champion and ultimate level digimon, they were proving to be outpowered by the mega.
But they still fought valiantly. No matter how many times they were hit or their attacks were thwarted by Vikemon, they kept on dodging and fighting. All the digimon were losing strength quickly though. The champions were the first to fall. Vikemon strook a charging Ankylmon back who rammed into ExVeemon who was attempting to get up to his feet after being smacked to the ground. Seadramon, Aquilamon, and Stingmon were next as they were blasted by Vikemon's "Viking Flare" attack. MagnaAngemon and Lillymon fell as well, as they already were low on energy from fending off the army beforehand. It didn't take too long before WereGarurumon, MetalGreymon, Zudomon, MegaKabuterimon, Rapidmon, Antylamon, and her own partner Angewomon were on the ground struggling to get. It looked like they had met their match.
"Arctic Blizzard!"
Vikemon opened its mouth and sent out millions of snowballs out of his mouth along with freezing cold air. He moved back and forth striking not only all of the digimon but all of the digidestineds as well. As the attack struck her she felt her legs freeze up and fail her. She fell to the ground and tried her best to curl up in a ball to hold in some warmth, but the cold was unbearable. She was going to freeze to death.
But then she felt someone wrap their arms around him and although the heat she got from this person was negligible, her hopelessness left her and she instantly felt loads better. A few seconds after, the attack ended and she instantly felt her skin start to sting as the warmth from the air of the Digital World counteracted that of Vikemon's attack. After a long, painful stretch of time, she finally was able to feel her limbs again. She felt the arms covering her leave, and she decided to stretch out and try to get back up. She did so successfully and when she looked down next to her she expected to see her boyfriend Davis, guessing he was the one who had covered her up. She was shocked, though, to see TK lying on the ground next to where she was. She felt a couple of strange emotions pop up as she realized Davis, the guy who was her boyfriend, was not the one who had tried to help her; it was TK.
As she looked at the rest of the group, she saw them all start moving about and trying to get up, digimon included. Within about fifteen seconds everyone was back up facing Vikemon.
"Care to give up yet?" Vikemon taunted. He clearly had the upper hand and any attempts at trying to defeat him were obviously vain attempts. But they couldn't give up. She couldn't give up. Not only for herself, but for her friends. For her brother. For TK... and for Davis and the others too.
He walked on top the slouds with a determined look on his face. He had been preparing the last few years for this moment. His servants SkullSatamon and LadyDevimon were walking beside him, the other evil digimon they had gathered following closely behind. He could sense all of their nervousness, but he merely found that amusing. The Digimon Soverign were powerful, but he was much more so. After being trapped in the bottom of the Dark Ocean for all those years, he was thirsty for revenge. He had once ruled the Digital World alongside the Soverign as a Seraphimon, ruling the Digital World in peace. What a joke. When he finally came to his senses, he tried overruling the four Soverign, but they were too powerful for him to defeat alone. They quickly out-powered him and banished him to the bottom of the Dark Ocean where he had been ever since. Little did they know that he was able to gain power there, more power even they had, and they knew it too. That was why they met with Gennai inquiring for help. Gennai had come up with the idea of digidestineds and quickly assembled them. As he observed the digidestineds from his prison, he noted their strength, especially when they defeated Dragomon and Piedmon. They had a weakest link, though. The once called Digimon Emperor, possessed dark spores, a strong source of evil created in the Dark Ocean. The digidestined believed this source of power to be dead inside the boy, but how wrong they were. The dark spores still had just as much power now than they did when there was the Digimon Emperor, the boy just learned to avert the spore's power. Once he possessed the spores, he would be unstoppable. But first he had some unfinished business to take care of.
In front of him stood the temple he once found refuge in. The area was surrounded by pure light all around, the ground wasn't really ground but clouds. This temple sat atop the heavens of the Digital World, and it was home to the one Soverign who had landed the final blow, sending him into the depths of the Dark Ocean, Azulongmon. But he knew Azulongmon would not be alone. By now the news of his march back to rule was known by the Soverign and they were certain to be prepared for an attack. The temple was now no more than twenty feet away, and his suspicion was confirmed as four Deva digimon, digimon who serve the Soverign, ran out from the temple. He quickly recognized the digimon as he used to work alongside them many, many years ago. Charging towards him were Caturamon, Antylamon, Pajiramon, and Vajiramon. He smirked. Did the Soverign really think this was going to stop him? They weren't even going to delay him.
"Treasure Bow!"
"Deva Blade!"
"Treasure Axe!"
"Howl of the Heavens!"
The four deva digimon sent out their attacks which flew right at him and his forces. He didn't even move a muscle.
"Infinity Boring!"
Brakedramon shot out multiple drills from its body quickly averting all of the attacks to the side where they hit the ground and exploded.
"Amemit!"
The Anubismon next to him raised his arms and the ground started to shake. A fissure appeared, and a black light shone out from the crevice. Then some demonic beast rose out of the ground and instantly lunged for the devas. They didn't stand a chance. Before they had time to react, they were already being deteriorated. The beast sunk back into the ground and the ground closed itself back up.
He looked up as he heard a way cry come from the Temple. The other eight devas were running towards them, and then the first Soverign appeared, Zhuqiaomon. He paid no attention to the devas as his eyes were locked on the firebird.
A war erupted as his forces struggled with the devas leaving Zhuqiaomon all to himself. The Soverign seemed pleased, almost amused, as if he knew for sure how this was going to end.
"Why do you do this to yourself Daemon? You don't stand a chance."
"That is where you're wrong," he replied softly, "You Soverign locked me up in the depths of the Dark Ocean for eternity. But fate had a different idea. I got stronger down there; I have strength you can't possibly even dream of."
"Stop muttering this blasphemy. You have more power than me? Codswallop!"
"Let's battle then, shall we?"
"I think we shall! Kouen!"
The Soverign erupted a swirl of flames which were shot right at him.
"Hell Fire!" he shouted as he raised a wall of flames of his own which shielded off the attack.
"Not bad," Zhuqiaomon muttered, trying to stay optimistic but knowing that he was the weaker one in this battle, "But let's see how you fair with this. Desolation Blast."
The firebird outstretched its wings where multiple fireballs spewed out of at a remarkable pace. He was quicker. Dodging each fireball, he was able to make his way close to Zhuqiaomon, much to the Soverign's surprise.
"Slash Nail!"
He outstretched his clawed hand and tore at the firbird's flesh. Zhuqiaomon cried out in pain and fell towards the ground. The Soverign landed hard and he floated down towards the fallen Soverign.
"This is only a taste of my true power; what a shame you won't be around to witness the rest of it."
"Don't be too cocky!" Zhuqiaomon fired back, "You may have defeated me, but you still have three more Soverign to battle, which you would be lucky to escape alive.
He didn't have time to listen to this digimon's meaningless mutters; it was time to end this battle.
"Hammer Knuckle!"
He put his two hands together in front of him. He drew them back getting ready to swing out, and once he flew down to Zhuqiaomon he outstretched his arms, striking the digimon with much force, so much so that Zhuqiaomon deteriorated on contact. He didn't have time to gloat, though, as another wave of attacks came his way.
"Kongou!"
"Souryūha!"
"Soukai!"
He dodged the two beams of energy shot from Baihumon and Ebonwumon, but he couldn't dodge Azulongmon's attack causing him to be struck by a thunderbolt from the sky. Electricity surged through his body and he fell to the ground, on his knees. He was panting, trying to maintain his breathing. When he looked up, Baihumon, Ebonwumon, and Azulongmon were situated next to each other, looking down at him as if he were the scum of the Digital World. He sideglanced to see his forces struggling against the Deva.
Azulongmon must have saw what he was focusing on and said in a mighty voice, "Give up this vain attempt Daemon. You are no match for us."
Baihumon and Ebonwumon muttered their agreements. He realized that he did not have enough power to make his plan successful… no. He did not suffer all those years in the Dark Ocean just to fail at his one opportunity of regaining power over the Digital World. He had the strength to beat these pathetic Soverign digimon. But he needed to do something first.
"LadyDevimon!" he called out. The she-demon was battling against Indramon, but upon hearing his voice she instantly withdrew from the battle and flew to his side.
"What is it master?" she inquired with an annoyed tone from being drawn away from her battle.
"Look at this! He calls upon his subordinates because he lacks the power to battle us alone!" Baihumon taunted.
"You should know that this digimon will not help you in the slightest against mega digimon like us."
"That, Ebonwumon, is where you're wrong." He then turned to face LadyDevimon and cried out, "Double Dust."
He quickly grasped LadyDevimon's wrists who instantly struggled to free herself from his grasp; it was to no avail. Then the demon cried out harshly as she felt the pain of his attack. A dark aura emanated from his hands and crawled up the she-demon's arms. As she writhed in pain he could feel her power entering his body, fueling him with much needed energy. The attack continued for a couple more seconds before LadyDevimon's body became limp. Starting at her hands, her body started breaking into tiny ashes, not digital data; LadyDevimon was going to be no more. His servant must have realized at this because she glared at him with a look of pure hatred and betrayal. "You monster," she muttered, before her whole body broke apart and a pile of ashes formed on the ground.
He smiled and stood up. "Why thank you."
"How?!" Ebonwumon shouted in bewilderment.
"Just something I picked up in my evil digimon school."
"You won't get away with this," Baihumon boldly proclaimed.
He just laughed. "We shall see. Hell Inferno!"
As he called out his new attack, he put his arms in front of him and summoned a huge orb of fire. This was no ordinary orb of fire, mind you. These flames were pitch black and were hissing loudly, waiting to devour whatever it came into contact. And devour it did. Nothing, not even the Soverign, could withstand this attack. When it was fully charged, he thrust it forward towards the unsuspecting Ebonwumon. The attack was a direct hit, encompassing the Soverign in the black flames.
When the attack faded so did Ebonwumon. The attack was so powerful that Ebonwumon's data didn't even survive. He chuckled.
Upon hearing Baihumon grunt, he turned his attention away from the place Ebonwumon once was and saw the tiger Soverign charging towards him at a remarkable speed. But he was more agile than the white tiger. He quickly flew up out of the way. Baihumon jumped, showcasing his long, vicious fangs, but he effortlessly called out, "Slash Nail" and smacked the digimon down to the ground with one swipe of his claw. He then noticed something utter "Lightning Whip."
He quickly looked up to the sky to see a thunderbolt flying in his direction. This trick wasn't going to work on him again. Without giving it a second of thought he raised one hand summoning a wall of fire. The thunderbolt hit his fire-wall which was not shaken from the attack. He then put his other hand up to form another orb of black hellfire, but this time Azulongmon's attack was encased inside. He whizzed the energy ball towards Baihmon who instantly was put up in electrified flames. The Soverign let loose a howl of pain and then was no more.
"You are strong Daemon, strong enough to even defeat us, but you will not rule the Digital World. You will be stopped."
He laughed. "By whom? Those pathetic digidestineds? They barely can handle my weakest minion MarineDevimon, and even if they do defeat him they are quickly falling apart. And once they are separated they will easily be taken down one by one, especially once I possess the dark spores."
"It is true, the digidestineds are not strong enough to defeat you as they are right now, but you have not seen all of their power. There is more power in them than meets the eye."
"I would like to test that."
"And so you shall, but not before I give them what little power the Soverign still have. Tell me Daemon, have you seen the digicores of the Soverign as you battled us."
He quickly went back in time remembering each previous Soverign, Zhuqiaomon, Ebonwumon, and Baihumon, and noted that they indeed did not have their twelve digicores surrounding them. Even now, Azulongmon did not have his digicores on him.
He snarled in anger, "What have you done!?"
"Lord Azulongmon, the new crests have been made."
He looked down and saw one of the Deva serving Azulongmon, Majiramon, an old dragon digimon, walking to Azulongmon's side.
"Crests?!" he asked angrily.
"Good Majiramon. Now, let them be released."
Instantly fourteen beams of light all of varying colors flew out of the temple and off into the distance at amazing speed. Azulongmon also started glowing as he added whatever energy he had left to the beams of light causing them to become brighter and even seem to emanate power. For as strong as he was, the power in those beams of light made him freeze up. There was great power there, something different than the power he possessed. He glared at Azulongmon as the digimon fell to the ground in exhaustion.
"Do not think you have won. Hell Inferno!"
His anger fueled the attack making it even more powerful than the past two attacks. Majiramon tried to throw the attack off with one of his own, but it was a pathetic attempt. Azulongmon and his servant, Majiramon, were hit dead on by the attack and were no longer. His anger had not left him however. He was shaking, and although he had finally defeated the Soverign, he was nervous. That power, those crests, he couldn't allow the digidestineds to find out how to access the sheer strength of that power.
He glanced around the battlefield and saw that mostly all of the Deva digimon were gone save for a couple here and there. His forces were cut down nearly in half; the only valuable digimon left were SkullSatamon, Anubismon, Darkdramon, and Megidramon. They could handle the remaining Deva on their own.
He walked up to the temple and looked around inside. Everything was just as he had remembered. The pure white pillars holding the ceiling up in the air, the pictures of all four Soverign hanging on the walls, the throne chair here he had once sat before, and the holy statue of Seraphimon situated in the middle of the temple. All this white, all this holiness, this place needed a makeover. His hands emanated a dark aura and he released the dark energy throughout the entirety of the temple. When he was finished, not a speck of white was to be seen anywhere in the temple. The four pictures on the wall had become torches lit with the black hell fire he wielded. The statue with the Seraphimon sculpture was now replaced with a sculpture of himself. It wasn't just the temple either. The white clouds the temple sat ontop of were now black as well, and he could see the sky above starting to slowly turn to darkness as well. The Digital World was becoming a place without light, a place without hope, and there was only one thing standing in his way of his reign over this new Digital World, the digidestineds. And now with that… power, they were going to be a much worthy foe than he had originally planned. But it did not matter. As soon as he retrieved the dark spores from Ichijoji he would be invincible. The digidestineds would not be able to even fight him; he would extinguish all hope. He would forever rule a world where there was no light at the end of the tunnel, a world where the sun never shone its peaceful, radiant beams onto the ground filling the world with warmth and light. But he had to defeat the digidestineds first. And defeat them, he shall.
Ok, he had spent some time in the arctic part of the Digital World before, but this was ridiculous. Did Vikemon not know that humans could catch a cold from this extreme temperature? Then again Vikemon did not really care about their well-being, seeing that he was the digimon trying to destroy them and all, but still.
As he got to his feet he started feeling heat slowly, very slowly, warm his body. Being the doctor that he was, or at least trying to become, he knew that exposure to this extreme cold could result in hypothermia or frost bite, but as he examined himself and took a quick glance at the others, he was relieved to see that they all were ok; extremely tired and worn out, but ok nonetheless.
"Care to give up yet?" Vikemon taunted. That was a very tempting offer. It was clear they didn't have a chance against this power house of a digimon, and giving up seemed a lot easier than trying to fight a hopeless battle. But he couldn't stop. He didn't earn the name Reliable Joe for nothing! In the past everyone could always count on him; he was the rock of the group. So it didn't matter how much he got pushed down, he always needed to get back up and help support his friends.
Just then a yellow beam of light flew right at him. He felt like jumping back in fear, but for some reason he had a feeling that this was not going to hurt him. He instinctively cupped his hands together out in front of him, and the beam of light dropped something familiar into his hands; it was a tag and crest. But it wasn't his crests though. This crest was the same color as his old crest, but instead of the symbol of reliability the crest had the symbol of hope engraved into it. He wondered about the tag and crest, but he realized that he had a battle to fight and that he could worry about it later.
He put the tag and crest around his neck and saw that the others all had tags and crests as well, including the American and younger generation of digidestineds. The next thing he noticed was that all of the digimon had their own aura surrounding them. Zudomon was surrounded by a gray aura, the same color as his crest, while the other digimon were surrounded by different colors.
"Zudomon, are you ok?" he shouted out to his partner.
His partner didn't look at him but responded, looking at himself in amazement, "I'm fine. In fact, I'm feeling a lot better, like my strength is returning."
"What?!" Vikemon exclaimed, "What is this?!"
He honestly didn't know how he would respond to the digimon because he didn't have an answer himself. The others didn't either as he heard their comments of amazement and Izzy's "Prodigious." Whatever it was, he knew that it had caused the tables to turn back around to their side.
"Get him Zudomon!"
He looked at the object in his hands in amazement. He sort of recognized what it was; although he had never seen one, he could tell that this was one of the tags and crests the first generation of digidestineds had on their first adventure. How he had ended up with one he did not know, but he had to admit that he was happy to have one.
The symbol on the crest was unknown to him. It looked like a lotus flower with beams of light shooting out from it. He had no idea what that meant. It was colored a bright white, almost emanating light from it. He admired the crest a little while longer before putting it around his neck and tucking it under his shirt.
As he turned his attention back towards the battle, he opened his mouth in absolute shock. He looked for Seadramon, but when he spotted his partner he longer was Seadramon. His partner had grew longer and changed colors as well. Instead of having a yellow face with a green/blue body, his partner now had a horn sticking out of his lighter yellow face and had green hair, a red body on the outside, and a white underbelly. His partner still looked like a Seadramon, but he obviously was different. Had his partner digivolved?
He looked around at the other digimon to see if they had changed as well, but he noticed that MetalGreymon, WereGarurumon, Lillymon, Garudamon, MegaKabuterimon, Rapidmon, Antylamon, Angewomon, and MagnaAngemon were still the same. There no longer was any ExVeemon, Aquilamon, Stingmon, or Ankylomon. Instead there was a huge dragon digimon with huge red wings and a big blue "V" on its chest, a bee digimon with an array of canons on top of his head, a dinosaur digimon with an extremely long neck, and a small bird-looking digimon with a tree attached to its back.
He didn't have time to find out just who all these new digimon were, including his partner, as Vikemmon tried launching out another attack, hopefully not that dreadful blizzard attack he had used before.
"Bazooka Howl!"
"Attack together everybody!" he heard Tai order.
All of the digimon obeyed and fired out their attacks, shouting out the attack's name as they did so. Each individual attack combined into one huge ball of energy which overtook Vikemon's latest attack and kept on moving towards its intentional target, Vikemon. Vikemon let out a cry of pain as the combined attack exploded on impact. Smoke surrounded the battle field making everything hard to see, but when the smoke he saw two trails of data fly up to the sky from the position Vikemon was once in.
Despite everything that had been going on in his life, he couldn't help but smile big with relief. It had been so long since he had been able to be in the Digital World and be a part of something important. To know that he had helped saved the day really made him happy, maybe it would make Mimi like him more.
Mimi. She was constantly on his mind all of the time. Ever since they first met, he had special feelings for the beautiful, somewhat dysfunctional girl. She was so funny, pretty, and sincere that he couldn't help but fall in love with her. Up until this past weekend he had held in his feelings, accepting the friendship he had with Mimi. But now he wanted more; he was no longer satisfied with being just friends. And he had thought he had her too. Yeah, she had just run off on him when he asked her out yesterday, but when they met up to talk he almost got to kiss her. Then Willis, TK, and Cody had to ruin that moment, but it is what it is. Now was his chance to get back to where he was at before they had interrupted them.
He looked around and quickly spotted the girl he was looking for, the love of his life, and went up to her.
Before he could greet her, he heard a familiar voice call out his name.
"Michael!"
He turned to see all of the digimon in their rookie forms running or flying, depending on what type of digimon they were, to them to be reunited with their partners. He quickly spotted his marine digimon and crouched to the ground. Betamon stopped at his feet and started nuzzling his leg in affection.
"Betamon! You were outstanding out there! What digimon were you though?" he asked.
Betamon looked up at him and smiled. "The crest gave me the strength to digivolve to my ultimate form, MegaSeadramon!"
"Well I hope we get to see a lot more of MegaSeadramon because he was amazing!"
He looked to see who had said that last comment and saw Mimi and Palmon walking up to them. He and Betamon instantly blushed simultaneously; Betamon because of the comment and he because of Mimi's presence.
"Gee thanks Mimi!" Betamon replied shyly.
Mimi laughed, "No problem."
"And Lillymon was pretty amazing as well!" he told Palmon, quickly taking his eyes off of Mimi to look at the flower digimon, "If it weren't for you then our plan wouldn't have worked at all!"
"It was nothing," Palmon said, smiling back at him.
He was about to start a conversation with Mimi but Tai suddenly opened his big mouth saying, "Hey everyone! I don't know about you guys but I'm ready to go home, so let's get going!"
Well, that was still good. He, Mimi, and Willis had to go a different way to find a portal because of where they lived, so he'd still get the chance to talk to Mimi.
"You rea…?" he started asking Mimi before Sora walked over butting in on the two of them's private time.
"Mimi! You should stay the night at my house tonight that way you don't have to go all the way back to America."
"And Willis, you can stay at my place too!" TK chimed in.
Mimi and Willis both agreed as Izzy said, "That's a good idea. I think it very logical for all of us to stick together especially now that we know there really is an evil digimon out there and we don't know how powerful he is."
All of Michael's hopes came crashing down just like that. Was it too much to ask for some alone time with the girl he loved? Apparently it was.
"Who's Michael going to stay with?"
Upon hearing his name he turned to see that Davis was the one who had asked.
"He can stay with Tai and myself," Matt said. Tai looked at Matt awkwardly; if he remembered correctly, the two of them were not getting along very well at the moment and hadn't been living together. Tai eventually smiled, though, and nodded.
"That settles it. So let's go back home!"
Ugh. So not only was he not going to talk to Mimi, he now had to stay the night with two guys he didn't even know or like that well. The only thing that kept his spirits up was that he was going to be able to have Betamon with him since they all agreed to bring their digimon back to the real world with them. He'd just have to talk to Mimi tomorrow. But he couldn't help but feel put down as Mimi walked side by side with another digidestined, laughing and really enjoying his company. Had their almost kiss meant nothing? Did she really not love him like he loved her? He wished this not to be the case, but as he saw Mimi laugh alongside Izzy he couldn't help be feel his mood drop quickly.
