"You ready for this?" Jon asks quietly as we wait for our music to hit. I smile and nod. "Well" I admit. "Not exactly ready. But this needs to be done Jon, it needs to be done good." "You're doing it" he says, kissing me and rubbing his nose against mine. "It's gonna be done perfectly. I love you Lor." "Love you too Jon" I whisper, kissing him softly. Joe and Colby clear their throats and we pull apart quickly. Colby glances around at the fans milling around and Jon blushes. Yeah, we hadn't noticed them. "Message from Layla" Colby whispers as he hugs me. "Girls night out tonight. She's booked a car. Don't worry about getting changed, just grab your stuff after your match and head for the parking lot. Car will be waiting." I nod, looking across at Jon. "I'll tell him, don't worry" Colby says. I nod, wincing as our music hits. This is it. Officially the last time I will walk to the ring with my boys. "Group hug guys" I say. Joe groans and hugs me tightly. Colby laughs and hugs me, kissing me before letting me go. We all wrap our arms around each other. "Let's go kill this" Colby says, wincing immediately at his choice of words. Kind of apt though. This is the death of The Shield as we know it. Joe breaks the hug and makes his way to the door, followed by Colby. Jon pulls me back. "No nerves" he whispers. I nod, kiss him, and follow Joe and Colby to the ring.
Music I haven't heard before hits as we stand in the ring. I look at Jon quickly and he frowns. Jon frowning. This obviously isn't part of the plan. I look up the ramp, frowning like Jon when I see Hunter, Orton and Batista all stood there. They look at each other before walking down slowly. "The fuck?" I whisper to Jon. He shrugs. "Obviously a change of plan somewhere along the line" he whispers back. Hunter smirks at me and I smirk back, watching as he swings his trusty sledgehammer as he walks. Oh shit. I jump out of the ring and run to Lillian. "Need a chair" I say. "Quickly." She nods and passes me a chair, watching as I fold it before sliding under the bottom rope with it. By now, Hunter, Randy and Batista are all in the ring too. The crowd is popping like crazy. I pick the chair up and stand next to Colby. Hunter grins and clears his throat before raising his microphone.
"Lora" he says. "How nice of you to join us. Please, grab a seat while the men talk business." Joe hands me a microphone and I smile. "Why, Hunter?" I ask. "Trying to prove you're a man, keep the little woman out of the way while the men work? I've got news for you sunshine. I'm part of this group too. Nothing happens without my say so. Got that?" He looks at his sledgehammer before looking back at me. "Crystal clear, Lora" he says menacingly. Jon visibly gulps holding his arm out and forcing me behind them. "Leave her out of this Hunter" he warns. Hunter smirks, shaking his head. "She's the one who grabbed the chair Dean" he points out. "She clearly wants in on this. I think we should let her." "Just evening the odds, Hunter" I say, looking at the sledgehammer and back at him. He nods. "Wise woman" he says. "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. You did good, Lora. Real good. Now, why don't you show us just what that chair is really in this ring for?" Colby looks at me as I start to open it out, making out like I'm going to sit on it. I quickly fold it back up and hit Colby with it. Joe spins around and stares at me, while Jon is rooted to the spot. The crowd is going wild, and as the guys are focused on me, Randy and Batista start beating on them too. I hit Colby a few more times before throwing the chair and making my way to Hunter. "You did good, kid" he says quietly, kissing my head. I nod, face expressionless as I watch my husband and my best friends get beaten by my new stable mates. Finally, Hunter gives the signal and all four of us walk to the back together, leaving The Shield in the ring, broken.
"That worked" Hunter says as soon as we're through the curtain. Randy nods and hugs me. "You did good out there Lora" he says. "I'm looking forward to working with you." "Me too" Batista says. "Not that it's going to be for long, just a few weeks until I leave. But Randy's right. This is gonna be good. Well done kid." I smile and nod, watching the monitor and the guys start making their way to the back. As soon as Jon is through the curtain he's searching for me instantly. "I'm sorry" I whisper, hugging him tightly. He laughs, shaking his head. "It's Colby you need to apologise to" he says. "He moved his arm as you hit him, you caught him sweet in the elbow! He's got pins and needles all up his arm!" I groan and watch as Colby and Joe support each other through the curtain. As soon as they're clear they stand up straight, pushing each other away. "Man!" Joe groans. "You copped a feel of my ass! I'm sure that's on camera!" "Fuck off Joe!" Colby groans, shaking his arm. "It was with the arm I can't control!" I laugh and kiss them both. "I love you guys" I whisper. They both pull me towards them and hug me tightly. "Go on" Colby says. "I'm sure Layla is waiting for you to go out." I look at Jon and he nods, smiling at me. "Go, have fun" he says. "I'll walk with you to the car." I smile as he puts his arm around me. I wave to the guys as he pulls me to the locker room.
"I'm gonna miss you" he whispers, kissing me softly. "But I'll be waiting for you as soon as you get back. Make sure you wake me up. I wanna hear all about it." I nod, kissing him again. "Count on it" I whisper. "Just the thought of you waiting in bed for me is gonna be enough to get me through tonight. I wish I was coming home with you..." "Enjoy yourself Lora" he warns. I nod and grab my bag. "Walk with me, Ambrose" I say. "Your wish is my command, dear wife" he says, opening the door.
