Chapter 56: Red Light, Green Light

Kai tossed and turned in his hospital bed, he felt unease in himself as he slept through. He then suddenly opened his eyes from his agonizing dreams. His vision a little blurred at first, but as it cleared up, he saw a dark oak ceiling above him, and a redstone lamp in the middle of it. Feeling unsure, surprised, shocked and worried at the same time, he suddenly sat up from his bed, noticing himself to be inside a room with dark oak walls and a windowless iron door. The room was like a hospital ward, with a ventilation shaft, its own bathroom, a television screen and a heart monitor beside Kai which was running and attached to his wrist. Kai then felt a sharp pain on the back of his right palm, he then saw a needle poked in the middle of it, attached to a hospital dextrose that hung upon the standard iron pole. After a couple of seconds, he felt a pain surge through his body as he gritted his teeth in pain. He then took a bit of his blanket off to see that his shirt was off and his body was bandaged and castle, along with parts of his arm, and he could not feel his legs as well as he saw them in a cast. He also felt like his back was pierced by a thousand needles as he leaned it on the bed.

"Ugh, I feel like crap..." He let out a short groan, he felt very dizzy and woozy, as the room spun around him. He tried to rub his back with his arm and felt one of the most unbearable pain he had ever felt. He then put his hand back on the bed and used his good arm.

He then heard a conversation outside his room. It was inaudible, Kai tried to make out most of what they were saying, but the pain of the injuries over took his mind and blocked a bit of his hearing. Suddenly, his leg stiffened up, making a loud crunching noise as Kai punched it. It may seemingly have worked but immediately backfire on him.

"Goddamn these freakin' wounds!" He cried out in a moment of fury and pain, this was truly unbearable.

The conversation would then stop at that point as Kai heard one of the footsteps leave. He became silent as heard this. A man then came in through Kai's door, wearing a white lab coat, over a black shirt, black pants and military boots. He was also wearing mask with a pair of red-tinted goggles and stood at about 6'2. Kai wasn't scared; rather he was curious as he looked up to this man.

"Good evening, I see you've already woken up." The man said as he greeted Kai.

"Thanks..." Kai said. "Umm... where am I?" He asked the man since he looked like he knew the place.

"You're in one of my infirmaries, young man." The man answered. "Apparently, Sehk had to bring you and your two friends here in order to help."

"Two friends..." Kai took time to realize this information, and then he suddenly realized what the doctor meant, with his eyes wide. "Oh god! Willow and Silk! WHERE ARE THEY! ARE THEY ALRIGHT?!" Kai was suddenly out of bed and onto his feet but the moment he sprang up, as loud snap occurred as he fell to the ground, yelling in pain as he held his back.

The doctor then helped him to get back to his bed, carrying him around the shoulders as he gently helped Kai lie back on his bed. The spider boy seeming groaned.

"Don't move too much, you're still a little injured from your fight." The doctor explained, as he looked at Kai.

"Alright then, I won't." Kai understood what he said and decided to just stay put.

Kai then turned to see a plate with bread and a glass of water with a pitcher of it beside his bed. Feeling starved, he used his good arm to grab the bread first, and started eating it like a madman who came from the desert, hungry like a wolverine. Afterwards, Kai chugged down the whole tall glass of water, as if he hadn't drank anything within the past few years.

"Feeling starved I see?" The doctor observed, not surprised because of he had known this situation before.

"Mhm" Kai nodded to the doctor as he finished his food and sighed. The doctor grabbed another loaf of small bread from the outside and filled the glass with water again. Kai took the bread and ate much slower this time and spoke. "So, how long have I been unconscious?"

"About a day." The doctor replied

"At least it's just a day. How are my two friends?"

"They're fine, Mr. Spudera."

"Good..." Kai sighed "I...didn't want anything to happen to them. My mother once said 'love is precious and you should do everything to make sure you don't lose it.'"

"Right, better let the Commander of the North Agency know about this." The doctor thought silently. "You're very lucky; you see we had to replace your blood along with your two friends, luckily, there was a considerate donor.

"Really..." Kai wondered on how much luck he had before he was absolutely toast. "Heh, that's nice, wish I can see those donors and give my regards for helping me and the two princesses." He then sighed silently on his stupid action. "*sigh* I thought I could handle him, I was so wrong."

"It's alright, we all make our assumptions and mistake them for achievements..." The doctor understood how Kai felt. "The donors had already gone home, and what was it you said about princesses?" This got the doctor's curiosity as he never knew that much about the Mob Monarchy happening around since he was very busy.

"I see, and yes, my two friends, Willow and Silk, are the daughters of King Webs." Kai explained.

"Well talking about monarchy around me, is like talking to a caveman, you see we really don't know who rules, and we use a democratic system in our race, so I really wouldn't know." It was the sole truth when it came to the doctor, since he was raised in a different way. "Care to explain further?"

"Great I'm not one who explains things..." Kai seemed to sigh and scratched his head. "Willow and Silk are Daughters of King Webs who is King of the race of spiders. Willow is the Princess of regular normal spiders and Silk is the Princess of Cave Spiders. They aren't like there father who rules over all the Spiders but they do get respect."

"Fascinating, and do other mobs do this too?"

"Yeah, but it's not that bad, the royal mobs do have full control and rule over the lower mobs and can practically do whatever they want, but they also have rules since they don't want the lowers mob to go crazy.

"I see."

=Meanwhile=

Hayden was now along with Ace and Yuki, as the trio had made it to the Cemetery and started exiting the horse cart. The three of them already felt the eerie chills down their spines, before they had even stepped foot on the land.

"Be careful now..." The hill voice of the horseman warned as he generously handed them a lantern. "Ya might need that."

"Don't worry, we will." Hayden grabbed the lantern and bowed to the horseman. "Be safe with your journey."

With a loud "hyaah!" the horseman took off with his horse cart into the nearby village. Once he was away, the trio turned to the direction of the graveyard before them. There was a terribly thick mist that had rolled in as the three of them saw the gate of the graveyard. Standing on both sides the gate, were two statues of angels, wielding spears and looking out into the horizon as if they were guarding it.

"Creepy place, even for a graveyard..." Yuki remarked in understatement and slight worry.

The most notable feature of the statues were their emotion; so life like, yet seemingly empty and void of life. As the trio stepped closer to the gate, there revealed to be a wall to serve at the graveyard's protection.

"Hmm... these statues..." Hayden pondered on why it seemed like these statues were alive in a way.

Yuki then suddenly a more afraid feeling as she noticed a murder (collective noun) of crows looking down at her from the trees above, with their orange eyes piercing her soul. Upon her instinct, Yuki held Ace's arm tightly, as if he was her mother. The crows then squawked at her, as the continued looking over the group.

"C'mon, let's go inside." Hayden said, slowly approaching the gate.

"Don't worry Yuki, I won't let anything hurt you." Ace reassured his girlfriend as they followed Hayden.

As they entered the graveyard, they heard humming in distance between them and they saw some candles lit in the distance. Ace would have grown weary about it, and so did Yuki, as he wielded the lantern. Yuki then spotted more angel statues as they walked along a stone brick path, lit by dim and textured glowstone and was surrounded by tombstones, graves and crypts.

"There are so many angel statues here." She remarked as she saw more and more of them.

"Probably decoration for the fallen, it looks nice though." Ace complimented the creepiness of the graveyard, which it emitted tonight.

"Strange... I don't sense any guards around." Hayden picked up no living aura anywhere around the place, even it if meant for the dead, there still should be some mobs working around it, after all it wasn't an abandoned graveyard as signaled by the candles and the humming.

"Guards?" Ace inquired.

"Well, yeah." Hayden replied. " Graveyards have guards around called Grave Wardens, or at least that's what I've heard, to keep the graves from thieves who want to steal the possessions of the fallen but this place, just doesn't seem to have any at all." No aura was still picked up, which made him wonder who the heck runs the place.

"Maybe the area we're in, doesn't actually have them." Ace assumed.

"But that'll just seem weird." The trio continued on walking on the stone brick path, which had sloped up and down through some small hills. "Or maybe the area does have them, but they just haven't made an appearance yet, after all, this place is seemingly huge..."

"Probably, I'm feeling a little uneasy though." Hayden was feeling tingly and a bit cold, even though it was a night, the place gave off a frozen feeling of creepy atmosphere.

"Guys, do you feel like we're being stalked right now?" Yuki asked and made sure of their surroundings by turning in certain directions.

"All the time, but it's not a surprise anymore." Hayden answered bluntly.

"Ignore him, but no, why?" Ace replied and then felt Yuki suddenly tug on his arm very tightly, making him stop for a bit. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"L-look!..." Yuki was frozen on her spot and pointed to the direction behind them.

Ace then looked up to see statues in the mist, but this time, they were seemingly facing their direction. They were at least about ten or more of them, and were in a position where they were seemingly hiding their faces with their hands.

"How many statues did you see earlier like this?" Ace asked Yuki as he too was slightly freaking out.

"T-two!..." Yuki replied

"Hayden..." Ace said.

"Yeah?" Hayden stopped as he then saw Ace and Yuki staring at the statues that were in the mist. He wouldn't understand what the two were talking about but wondered how the statues got there.

"I..I don't like the looks of this..." Yuki stated with a worried understatement.

"Yeah, it's just weird..." Ace agreed.

"Well, let's just keep moving." Hayden then turned around but stopped dead in his tracks, as he saw a statue of one of the angels holding out it arms as if it was going to grab him which seemed to freak him out seeing how close she was yet when he spoke he seemed rather calm and said, "Oh okay, now I see what you two were talking about..." He then saw more angel statues surrounding them.

Pretty soon, the three of them we're back to back with each other, and started at the statues. But pretty soon they heard a voice.

"Who goes there?" The voice asked, startling the three of them. "I don't wanna have to hurt you..."

A figure from the shadows then came out, it was a male. He'd sport a slightly pale skin, gray eyes, dark gray hair, gray jacket with a hood, black pants and gray shoes. There was also a pair of wings behind him, as he stood at about 5'8, while he looked at them, he stood on top of his perch on a dead tree.

"A weeping angel..." Hayden muttered. "I am Hayden and we were looking for a friend..."

"I am Ace Skulleton Valley." Ace followed.

"And I'm Princess Yuki Bones." Yuki said.

"You can all call me Zaslow." The weeping angel humanoid introduced himself. "Is your friend still walking? or is he in a grave?"

"Well since he has been close to death for who knows how many times..." Hayden quickly recalled those other times Kai had been really close to touching the reaper's scythe. "I'd say he's still walking around..."

"Then I doubt you'll find him here, for if you're looking for someone here, chances are, they might be dead." Zaslow replied.

"Doesn't mean we can't look around." Hayden retorted. "You say he's dead, I say he isn't. Now we can continue going about this nonsense until one of us gets irritated or, I tell you my friends name and if he is on a tombstone you can tell us. If we can't have any of those we're not leaving until we find him." He would sound calm as he said his negotiation with the angel and wouldn't take no for an answer.

"Fine then, but I'll be leaving you three under the watch of my associate." The weeping then whistled through his fingers.

Then a guy would suddenly jump right in front of them. He'd be lightly tanned, yellow-orange eyes, green hair, nuclear tattoo on his back, wears a dark-green mask, wears a dark green hoodie that resembles a camouflage suit, black cargo pants, black and yellow striped sneakers, he also stood at 6'0. Zaslow would then disappear into the misty graveyard as the guy spoke.

"Alright you statues, I'll take it from here." The mysterious man said to the angel statues surrounding the trio.

With that command, the statues went back into the places, faster than a blink. The trio suddenly felt they were free to search and turned their attention to the guy, as he turned into his blocky, nuclear creeper form. The trio just looked at him, as Hayden took the lead of their search.

=Meanwhile with King Webs=

The Crow of The Night, otherwise known as Sehk, was making his way towards the spider castle, with his composure and calmness still there. The guards of the castle, and has deemed him non-hostile due to this, and the fact that he appeared like a messenger of some sort, but still kept their alert high with him around. No hesitation or timidness passed his mind, as he went directly for the throne room. He had a spider escort with him as he lead Sehk to the throne room. As he walked the halls he saw a lot of the Spider Guards either worried or frantic as they traveled at fast paste or spoke to each other with worried glances. After a moment of walking the two appeared before a door and the spider escort bowed before heading off, leaving Sehk at the throne room door.

"And I thought the graveyards were nerve-wrecking enough..." Sehk smugly and sarcastically remarked in his thoughts, as he opened the door.

He simply went in without even knocking, as he entered he looked to see King Webs in his human form pacing the room back and forth with a worried face and seemed to be in deep thought and looked as though he would panic and collapse at any given minute.

"G'evening." Sehk's voice seemed to snap King Webs out of his thoughts and he immediately turned to Sehk with a surprised face.

"Good evening." The surprised king greeted. "And who might you be?" Webs questioned the position of this man who apparently just came into his room without any indication.

"Someone who's here to tell you that your daughters and their friend is now safely with us." The ender-lord was very straightforward to his point of coming, no beating around the bush was his principle of telling the news.

"Wait... Kai, Willow and Silk?!" King Webs was wide-eyed to the surprise of the news. "They're safe?! Where are they?!"

"They will come back here in about a few days, they're still recovering from the venom they had succumbed through." Sehk motioned for the nervous to calm himself down.
