I'm so sorry I haven't updated sooner! You guys know all the graduating and Mother's Day stuff...Anyways, this is the end of "What Happened?". Okay for clarification: "What Happened?" is what the three brothers saw in the monitor, and what Raphael has been having anxiety attacks, post traumatic disorder, and anger issues. But he didn't know that it was this, since for some reason his memory got erased. So did his brothers'. Anyways, enjoy and review! If you need any clarification just PM me or leave a review! :)

Chapter 15: What Happened? Part 3

Nine years ago in the Hospital wing of the lab…

Raphael this day did not awake to the sweet sound of Michelangelo's laughter, or the theme song of Space Heroes in the living room, or the sound of an explosion from the lab. He awoke to the continuous beeping of the monitors, the sickly sweet smell of chemical medications, and the soft whirring of machinery.

He blinked a few times to adjust to the light, which was awfully bright. He finally began feeling the throbbing feeling of the back of his head. Confused, he began to search his environment with his eyes.

Monitors were hooked to his nervous, respiratory, and circulatory systems. He wore a light oxygen mask, a hospital gown, and too many bandages. Then all of the memories of the past two days came crashing to his head like a flash flood. They came too fast. Raphael froze. The monitors began beeping faster and louder. Faster and louder. Faster and louder. Raphael's world went spinning.

A nurse yanked the curtain that separated Raphael's bed to the rest of the "patient's". His breathing turned into gasping. The nurse wore a frantic expression as she pulled out a walkie talkie and began shouting something that Raphael couldn't hear.

His eyes finally rolled to the back of his head and all went black. This would be Raphael's first anxiety attack.

"Raphael, Raphael. Wake up buddy! It's all going to be okay! I even dimmed the lights in here for you." Dr. Hedeinburg comfortingly whispered into Raphael's ear while trying to nudge him awake.

Once Raphael knew who it was nudging him he sat up quickly in bed, and scooted away from the scientist. Only Master Splinter could do that.

"What do you want?" Raphael asked obviously irritated. A fire began a brewing in him. An unknown flame to his obedient, respectful self.

"I just checked on you after the nurse told me something was going on. What happened buddy?" Dr. Hedeinburg asked while moving his hand to Raphael's face comfortingly.

Raphael quickly slapped his hand away.

"I'm not your ANYTHING!" he growled, angry tears welling up in his flaming bright green eyes.

Dr. Hedeinburg wore a pained and disappointed expression. He gave out a long defeated sigh and got up and closed the curtain behind him.

He heard Dr. Hedeinburg saying something to his nurse.

"I failed Dolores, I just failed."

"Oh doctor, don't say such things! You've caught a mutated turtle! That's something that only most scientists could ever dream of. That itself is a great accomplishment!"

"Probably, but I spoiled it. Because of my ignorance at the moment I squirted that chemical onto him which caused his image to differ from his original self, only causing him more stress. He is only a child! A six year old! Well at least in human years, in his kind he is 10 or 12."

"Please doctor, don't be so hard on yourself! You will think of something to continue the tests successfully!"

"Yes of course I can! But, I've failed him! I don't know Dolores, but I have a soft spot for him. Like as if he was my own!"

Raphael scoffed at that comment. As his own?! After he kidnaps me? Sure…

"Because of all the psychological damage I have caused to him, now he will have regular anxiety attacks and now a horrid temper caused by post-traumatic stress disorder."

Raphael heard the Doctor making his way towards him. The curtain yanked open.

"Raphael, you need to come with me." He said calmly.

"Why? So you can hook me up to machines, torture me, make me run through mazes? No thank you. I rather die."

The scientist took a deep breath and called for his henchmen. The men grabbed him and covered his mouth.

"Listen Raphael, I know this is hard for you, but I also know that you're stronger than you pretend to be. I am going to test you. I have worked far too hard for me to lose your "interest". If you don't cooperate with me, well let's just say there will be consequences." The scientist's cold tone caused Raphael to actually start to worry.

"Take him to the main lab for prep, and make sure they have a strong grip on this one." Dr. H ordered to his bulky henchmen. For a second Raphael swore he saw Dr. Hedeinburg's facial expression turn into remorse.

"NO! LET ME GO! I'm a person too! I have feelings too!" Raphael shouted at the top of his lungs all the way to the main laboratory. Doctors and patients walked down the hallways as if nothing. They were all too used to it.

He shut up halfway there, giving up. Tears streamed down his cheeks silently.

I am never going to be able to see my brothers again, or sensei, or maybe myself.

He kept his eyes closed until he felt that he was placed onto a cold metal table. He opened his eyes as the doctors strapped him down. Dr. Hedeinburg approached. Raphael turned to an all-consuming fire.

His anger went through the roof. This man was going to use him as a toy. This is way messed up in all ways taken.

"Gentlemen please leave me alone for a moment with this young man." Dr. H asked as they quickly nodded and silently filed out the door. He put on his rubber gloves and a surgical mask.

"You are a male right?" Dr. Hedeinburg asked Raphael. Raphael was much too angry to even respond. He only clenched his jaw. "Don't worry, we'll find out in a few minutes anyways."

"WHAT?!" Raphael shouted.

"Well it's essential to know how your human DNA contributed to your reproductive system." Dr. H responded casually.

"Please…just please don't. Test me on whatever else you want, but please not that. I'll f-feel uncomfortable." Raphael said flushing.

"Oh don't worry, you won't feel anything." Dr. Hedeinburg said shooting him a "reassuring smile" as he splayed out the sharp metal instruments on a table. Raphael's bright green eyes widened.

"What are you going to do to me?" Raphael asked, trembling, eyes wide looking at the amazingly sharp and long instruments.

"Well we have to see how all of your systems contribute to your life form. I would also like to see how your turtle and human DNA have mixed attributes." Without warning Dr. Hedeinburg whipped out a gas mask and put it on Raphael's snout. Raphael writhed and wiggled, trying to get free from the poison gas. "Sorry buddy, but if it's something I've learned about you is that you're one tough cookie." Dr. Hedeinburg stated with a semi-crazed look in his eyes as he forcefully pressed the mask on Raphael's face.

Raphael tried to refuse breathing for a few seconds but he began to choke, leading to gasping which caused the gas into his system. His eyes fluttered shut. Dr. Hedeinburg smiled, an evil scientist smile.

"Now, time to learn a little more about your body…"

For weeks Raphael was put through painful tests. Running through 20 mile mazes at full speed, how much electricity could flow through his veins, how much weight pressure could be placed on him. He was put in cold dog crates at night and fed the remains of other expired seawater mutants (of course he never ate). He cried himself to sleep every night.

One night he dreamt of his family getting kidnapped and tortured by the evil scientists.
"NO, NO, NO! Let them go you monsters! You immoral demons!" he would shout in his sleep.

One day Dr. Hedeinburg decided to break some news to him.

"Okay Raphael, you have been starting to cooperate a bit more so-"

"I have only tried to cooperate so that I can die faster and forever leave this hell."

Dr. Hedeinburg felt appalled. Which six year old would say such things?

"Raphael you're only going to die of starvation, you haven't eaten in days!"

"It's because you've only fed me the remains of your poor dead experiments."

"…"

"Maybe someday some crocodile mutant will eat my cadaver, right?"

"The procedure we are going to perform on you this time is to enhance your eye coordination.'

"Cool, so now I'll get orange eyes."

"No, no there won't be any physical changes. I promise you that." Dr. H unlocked the door to the dog crate. "Come, follow me." Raphael just followed hanging his head.

As they walked down the hall Raphael caught glimpse of a shrieking teenage girl.

"Where am I? Where are you guys taking me?! I will call the cops!" she screamed trying to get out of the firm grip of some of Gregorious' henchmen. As she walked past, her frantic eyes locked onto Raphael's. I'm so sorry. Raphael said with a look in his eyes. She received the message since she began bawling and screaming after the horrid realization.

Raphael couldn't even cry anymore. He had cried so much, he was sure that he had dried out of tears to cry. He no longer had any physical pain capacity. His muscles, bones, mind, and body were played with and stretched and strained so much that he no longer felt the aching throbbing and the sting of the open cuts from the electric shock.

Where are they? Where are my family, when I most need them?

They finally reached the double doors of the Surgery Room, when a thud came from the vent system above. Dr. Hedeinburg froze and pulled out a walkie-talkie whispering something that Raphael couldn't hear. Another big thud and Dr. Hedeinburg picked Raphael in his arms.

"What are you- "

"Shh! Let's not make any noise for right now." Dr. H whispered.

The third thud and a large hooded figure fell through the vent's opening. It pulled out a large red glowing gun.

"NO! How did you get a hold of that?!" Dr. Hedeinburg yelled quite surprised as the figure cornered them. Then the figure whipped off his hood, revealing to be a mutated rat-man. Raphael gasped.

"Master Splinter…" he breathed, mixed emotions brewing inside. Relief, gratitude, anger, betrayal.

"A ninja never reveals his secrets," Master Splinter said casually. Just like that he pulled the trigger and all of Raphael's memories of the past two weeks disintegrated. He fell out of Dr. H's arms, asleep.

"Why did you ruin this?!" Dr. Hedeinburg demanded on the verge of tears.

"Because he is my son, not yours. Now if you don't want me to erase all of your 30 years of studying, give me my son and let me leave in peace."

The doctor just walked away, without option. Master Splinter climbed back into the vents with his memory-less son in his arms.

"Now that you and your brothers have forgotten all that has happened to us, I hope I can protect you all better my son."

End of "What Happened?"

Okay hint: the red gun is a memory erasing device that Splinter stole from the lab the first time he went through the vent system. He then used it on his sons so they wouldn't remember. Well, until now of course.
