Rin came in as Kagome quickly tried to cover herself up. "What are you doing Rin?" She tried to act casual.
"Jaken told me that Sesshomaru had taken you in and I had to see it for myself! I can't believe you are here! What do you want to do first?" Rin asked enthusiastically.
"I'd love to bathe, if that's okay with you." She smiled sheepishly and tried to be subtle.
"Oh! Okay, just come find me when you get done, I'll be in the courtyard. I'm so excited. I finally have someone I can hang out with!" Rin skipped out of the bathroom.
Kagome eased back in the water and let out a sigh. She was glad to finally be able to relax. She washed herself in sweet silence and dried herself off. She wondered why Sesshomaru had taken her in like this. She wondered if it was really because she was now a valuable asset, or if there was a more sinister reason. She dressed herself in a light green kimono with a pale pink obi. She was surprised that the kimono fit her so well. She tied her hair up in a bun and smiled at her appearance. She felt very relaxed and comfortable, which was phenomenal considering the situation.
Kagome walked down the elegant staircase and in the direction she believed the courtyard was in, turning around every so often to see if there was someone behind her. She felt followed, as though every move she made was being shadowed at a distance. She finally found the courtyard, in its opulent splendor. There were sprawling trees and marble statues. There were sakura blossoms in bloom everywhere she looked. She found herself wondering if the Sesshomaru she thought she knew was indeed the true Sesshomaru. This kind of beauty seemed impossibly lush and beautiful to have been rendered from Sesshomaru's mind. Within a few minutes, she found Rin, who was sitting peacefully under a sakura tree, staring up at nothing. Kagome called her name and she bolted upright and ran toward Kagome, embracing her at once.
"Hey Rin." Kagome said, her hand smoothing Rin's now unruly hair. She smiled and was reminded of just how young Rin actually was. Kagome felt as if she were looking at herself as a young girl, full of life and vitality, not plagued by the world Sesshomaru pulled her in to.
Rin grabbed her hand and pulled her away from the courtyard and into the vast castle she now inhabited. "Let's get something to eat, then we can go to the gardens and explore the rest of the castle!"
