I FAILED! Ok one day isnt so bad. BUT I'M STILL SORRY!
"Gogo, lets go out for dinner." Hiros girlfriend of several years now turned to him with a quizzical look. "What, i got a wight in my pocket that's going to crush me if i don't burn some of it."
"Ok, Mr. Moneybags just because you have a good job doesn't mean you should flaunt or burn your money." Friendly mocking filled her voice. "Where do you want to go?" it was true, after Hiro hung up the armor and traded in for a lab coat he got a well paying job at a government job as a scientist to help advance the study and use of robots and even developing artificial intelligence, or at least that's what it said on the letter. What it really was, was a government job that let him invent things as long as they were about robotics.
"Lets go somewhere fancy." He chose to ignore the mocking comment and continue on. "How about… the Rosary?"
"YES!" She began to answer before the whole name even left his lips. "I love the Rosary!" She looked very excited, and Hiro knew she would, because it was her favorite. Contrary to the name, the fancy restaurant didn't really feature a lot of flowers or other girly accommodations that would make Gogos skin crawl. "Are we going now?"
"I don't see why not, i just have to grab something and i'll meet you in the garage." Hiro disappeared back up the stairs from where he emerged. He grabbed a small plastic and velvet box, sliding it deep down in his pocket, it's not so heavy weight begun to bear no him like it weighs a ton. He reappeared in the garage, Gogo had already pulled her new bike out, same design as the old one, just motorized like a normal street bike. Hiro got on the bike and slapped on a helmet.
They drove through the streets in silence, not like they really could speak with the roaring wind around them. Hiro could feel the fear creeping up inside him, he tried to dash them but they just came back. What if it's too soon? What if she says no or worse, laughs in my face?
Eventually they arrived at the restaurant. For the time on a friday night, it was relatively vacant. The absence of people calmed Hiro just a bit. They entered and immediately where seated. They ordered their drinks, wine for Gogo and soda for Hiro.
Hiro felt his hands sweating, anxiety took him. He hid behind his menu to avoid Gogos gaze, but to no avail. "What's wrong Hiro, your hands are trembling?"
"I-It's n-nothing, don't worry a-about it." His voice betrayed i'm, trembling at the worst times. He tried to steel his voice but only failed. "R-Really i'm fine."
"Don't keep secrets from me Hamada, why did you really bring me here?" Gogo warily looked at her boyfriend, lowering her menu to the table. Hiro remained silent, "I will get up and leave, don't think i won't."
"No dont," Hiro quickly spoke, anxiety grabbing him again, fear taking over. "Just wait till after dinner. Everything will make sense then." The server returned before Gogo could answer, they ordered their food and didn't speak a word till it arrived and even for a while after. Hiro finally broke the silence after he wiped his mouth with his napkin, "Ok, you ready to know why?"
"I've been waiting this long let's hear it." She was clearly annoyed, and rightfully so.
Hiro took a deep breath and cleared his throat, then rose to his feet and moved a step closer to his date. His hand trembled as he reached into his pocket, he knelt down on one knee. Pulling one of Gogos hands into his, and with the other pulling out the small velvet and plastic box. Leiko Tamago, will you marry me?" He opened the box with his thumb and forefinger, revealing a shining diamond ring.
Without thinking Gogo pulled both her hands to her mouth, drawing in quick breath. She stared at the diamond breathlessly, captivated by it's beauty. "Yes." She said it barely above a whisper, her hands also blocking out some of the noise.
"Yes? Did you say yes?" Hiro questions, praying that he had heard her right. She nodded her head in response this time, her eyes quickly moistening. Hiro drew her into a hug, he felt drained, like he had just full sprinted a mile. He quickly pulled back and lifted her hand, sliding the ring on her finger.
"It's beautiful Hiro." She quickly pulled him back into a deep hug, never wanting the moment to end.
"Not as beautiful as you." He quickly added.
"That was just cheesy, and you know it." Hiro pulled back and met her gaze.
"And everything else i did wasn't?" He rose an eyebrow questioningly, then returned to his seat. Immediately downing the rest of his soda.
"Ok, you got me there." She stared at the ring on her finger for a few second. "I can't believe it."
"So now you get why i was kinda freaking out?" he asked with a slight chuckle to his voice.
"Ya." She chuckled along with him, "But with this comes some more important things."
"Like?"
"Well, the wedding for one thing, but something a little more important to that in the immediate future." She gazed back at the ring, moving it around on her finger.
"And that would be?"
"Who are we going to tell first?" A devilish grin crossed her face.
- One year later to the day
Hiro stared at the white walls of the hospital waiting for the doctor to emirge from the swinging double doors with the news, and he prayed that it would be good. He spun his wedding band around on his finger, a nervous habit he had picked up over the year of marriage. He loved the ring and never took it off, unless he really needed to. So rubbing it helped him calm down, pulling on a the well of love he felt for the other person with a similar one adorned to her finger.
All of the sudden the silence that surrounded him broke with the sound of foot steps, four sets to be precise. Around the corner came his friends and Aunt Cass. "Has it happened yet?" Honey nearly shouted, she quickly covered her mouth like she didn't mean to shout, but with the lack of people around she didn't seem to mind.
"I don't know, no one has left after they took her. She looked to be in a lot of pain." Hiro spoke softly, dread and fear clouding his mind.
"I can't believe this is happening." Wasabi spoke, raising a hand to rest on his head. As if on cue, a loud scream echoed from the room just beyond the doors. "That doesn't sound good." He voiced the general thought of the group.
Hiro went white at the sound, and the comment from Wasabi didn't help him. Fred placed a hand on his shoulder and sat in the open chair next to him. "It's going to be fine, it's Gogo remember. Nothings going to stop what's going to happen, you should be exited. It means you can throw a party."
A prompt slap to the back of the head from honey shut him up, "how could you think about that when one of your friends are in so much pain?"
"I don't want a party, i just want her to come out of this ok." Hiro continually spun the ring on his finger, waiting for any indication that the wait was about to end.
"Calm down everything is going to be fine." Aunt Cass sat in another open chair, wrapping her nephew into a hug to try and calm him down. "You need to stop worrying before you give yourself a heart attack and join Gogo in a hospital room."
Before Hiro could reply one of the double doors opened, the doctor emerged, his white scrubs and blue gloves stained red. "Mr. Hamada, I think it's time." The group could hear the smile in his voice, even if his mouth was hidden behind a surgical mask.
Hiro lept from his seat, racing past the doctor he entered a room to see a very pale and sweaty Gogo. A blanket covered her body up to about her chest, in her arms was a bundle of blankets. He knelt down next to the bed, two faces looking back at him. Gogo moved a hand from the bundle and Hiro grabbed it, "how did everything go?"
"Me kicking you in the balls a hundred times wouldn't compare to the pain i just felt." A smirk and a giggle left her lips. "But it was worth it." She turned her head the blankets in her arm, a slightly tanned face and deep brown eyes looked back.
"I don't think i'll need that, i believe you." He wrapped an arm around her shoulder as best he could.
"What's his name!? It is a boy right?" Honey asked, Hiro hadn't even noticed they followed him, they all stood at the foot of the bed, Honey looked like she was about to explode, Aunt cass didn't look to far behind her.
Hiro looked between his wife, his new son, his Aunt, and his friends. "It's Lio. After yours truly." He motioned toward Gogo.
See, they went on to live normal lives. It was really nice to write this trilogy, and i'm really happy that people like it. Hopefully new people will still read it after this chapter.
