Kagome awoke, once again in Sesshomaru's bed alone. She got out of bed and snuck into her own room, barely avoiding being noticed. She bathed and dressed, finally settling on the bed. Once again, she was feeling dejected. Her fears had been soothed that night, but now, in the afterglow, she was becoming unsettled. His words, while touching, hadn't actually made her feel any better about his intentions.

Resigned, she strolled through the corridors, looking for something to do. She'd been so shielded in his castle, she had forgotten the way of life she had experienced with Inuyasha and the others. Tears pricked her eyes as she thought of the night she couldn't remember. The images in her mind where impossible to piece together. The harder she tried, the blurrier the images became.

Before she knew it, she found herself in the courtyard, her skirt dragging against the stones. No matter how much she tried to comprehend the madness, she couldn't. She continued down a stone path. Lost in thought, she aimlessly continued until she saw a small creature bleeding further down the path. She ran to it, worried for the poor creature. As she got closer, she realized it was Shippo. She picked him up, trying to find the source of his bleeding. She ran back to the castle, and looked for Dai Onna.

Upon finding her she set him down. "Can you help him?"

Dai Onna looked over his limp form. "I can try. He's in very bad shape. Get me the bandages and my herbs."

Kagome rushed to find them, a spark of hope glimmering deep within her mind. She found them and brought them to Dai Onna.

Dai Onna quickly set to treating him, a look of uncertainty creasing her face as she did what she could. She bandaged his side, after grounding some herbs into the wound. "He needs rest. I've done all I can. It's up to his body to finish his healing. It may take a few days. I'll leave him in your care. Bring him back to me tomorrow to change the bandages."

With a nod, Kagome scooped him up and carried him into her room. She laid a folded blanket the floor and laid him upon it, saying a silent prayer for him. She sat and watched him for hours, his chest almost imperceptibly rising and falling. As she sat there, her mind swarmed with thoughts. What happened to him? Does he know what happened? Does he know where the others are?

Kagome let out a sigh, and laid on the floor next the Shippo's sleeping form. Before long, she too had fallen asleep.
