Kagome took deep breaths as she walked to Sesshomaru's study. She wasn't truly prepared for what she was going to hear, one way or another. If Inuyasha was innocent, what would she do? Would she go with him? Would she stay here? What if Inuyasha was guilty? What then? Would she let Sesshomaru handle it? Would she give him the opportunity to leave?
Her thoughts were swirling. She didn't know what to do. She could only hope that she would figure it out after she processed it, which seemed like an impossibility right now. She had known Inuyasha for so long that she couldn't imagine him killing all their friends. But if he had been full demon, he would have been capable of nearly anything.
Kagome shook the thoughts away as she reached the door for Sesshomaru's study. She took a final deep breath and slowly opened the door. Sesshomaru was sitting in a chair by his desk, looking lost in thought. Kagome closed the door behind her and Sesshomaru looked up.
"You're here. Take a seat." He gestured to a seat and Kagome sat down almost immediately. "Inuyasha killed your friends, Kagome." Sadness flickered in his eyes for a moment. "He claims he wasn't thinking clearly and that it was an accident. He wants to talk to you." He paused for a moment, as if temporarily unsure of what to say next. "What happens next is up to you. What do you want to do?"
Kagome was in shock. She never would have believed Inuyasha would do this. Even now, she wasn't sure she did. A small part of her wanted to reach out to Inuyasha, to hear his side. She thought of Sango and Miroku, always bickering. She thought of never being able to see them again. Anger welled up from deep inside her. Inuyasha had killed them. She didn't want to believe it but she knew it was true. She just didn't know what to do.
Kagome took a breath. "I need to think about it. Would that be okay?"
Sesshomaru nodded. "Let me know when you've made your decision." He stood, and made his way to the door. "Take however long you need. We'll keep him in the dungeon until you decide."
Kagome nodded and Sesshomaru left. Kagome waited a couple minutes and headed to her room to think. She quickly ran down to her room and threw herself on the bed. She lay there, trying to think, until she drifted off to sleep.
