Hey guys, it's been awhile and I'm sorry for that but here's the next chapter. Update: I am hopefully going to be working on replacing the original three chapters written by SarahHeartsCatz since she deleted her account so keep an eye out, okay? c:

"You're going to erase our memories?" Clary asked. "Again? If you think that you're going to mess around with my head again you are so-"

"Now, now, calm down." Magnus said, waving his hand dismissively as if he could make Clary disappear, which, in fact he could. "It will be better this way."

"But what's the point then?" Clary demanded. "Why bring us all the way here to fight when I'm not even trained and Simon isn't allowed to even be here and we won't remember the fight?"

"It's complicated," Magnus said.

"Explain it then." Jace demanded, crossing his arms over his chest.

"I can't." Magnus explained, looking up to the ceiling. "I wish I could, but I simply cannot. Just know that there is a reason that you were brought specifically to this time and that you were taken specifically from your time."

"Just tell us!" Isabelle started when Magnus stood, lanky and tall, his cat eyes narrowing down at the Lightwood girl.

"I've told you all I can. You'll understand when this is all over." And with that, the warlock disappeared in a puff of smoke and left Clary, Jace and Isabelle alone.

"Well, that was helpful." Jace said sarcastically. "So glad that we have an all knowing warlock with us."

"Jace," Clary said, looking over at him reassuringly. "Relax. Everything will be fine, I'm sure."

"She's right." Isabelle said, climbing to her feet and stretching up with her own body. "But right now, I want to do something."

"What?" Clary asked.

"Train." Isabelle smirked. "These dresses may be gorgeous, but they're a bitch to fight in. I need some practice if there's going to be fight against those metal monster's again."

"That's a good idea." Jace said, perking up noticeably. Only Jace, Clary thought, can get excited about fighting things. "I'm sure Charlotte won't mind us practicing. Maybe I can even teach my Grandfather a thing or two."

Jace stood up and joined his sister, turning back to help Clary up too. "What do you say?"

Clary waved her hand. "Nah, I'm going to go talk to Simon. I want to catch him up on what Magnus said and I feel bad that he can't be here."

. . .

"Find anything?" Jem asked, looking over at Tessa who was scanning an older newspaper.

"No," Tessa said, disappointed. She let the paper fall from her hands, her fingertips black where the ink had started to come off from her worrying. "There has to be something here."

"Not necessarily." Jem said, his gray eyes concerned. "Mortmain is clever, he's had years to learn how to hid his past so it may take a time to find him or figure out his next move. I wouldn't worry though."

Tessa smiled.

"He's right," Will said, looking over at his parabati with a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "And even if they don't, we always have our future dwelling descendants to assist us and to blame if the case may be."

Tessa rolled her eyes. "Whether you believe it or not, you and Jace are cut from the same cloth, so to speak."

Will's blue eyes widened as if the news shocked him. "Say it isn't so."

"It is so," Jem agreed. "How else would he have figured out the plan to set the Lightwood's carriage on fire? It's in his blood."

Will grinned. "Of course. Speaking of, I wonder what Magnus wanted."

"Which one?" Tessa asked. "There's two of them now, you know."

"True." Will shook his head. "A world with two Magnus Banes. The end time is nigh."

Tessa sighed. "You're being overdramatic again, Will."

"What do you mean again?" Will asked. "Are you insinuating that I was being dramatic before?"

"You're always dramatic." Jem pointed out with a chuckle.

"I am not." Will said indignantly. "I am always the perfect temperament."

"Perfectly horrid, you mean." Jem said, smiling. "But we love you just the same."

. . .

"So, let me get this straight." Simon said, leaning back against the fountain that stood in the middle of the Institute's Sanctuary. "While we were going to Taki's to see Magnus and Alec off for their honeymoon or whatever."

"They were going on a vacation since the war was over, they deserved to go out." Clary said, pulling her legs close to her chest from her spot on the floor in front of Simon.

"Alright, alright. So, while we're walking to Taki's, we get jumped by a bunch of Raum demons. We can't escape, so Magnus tells you to make a quick portal and to take us to a safe place." Simon continued. "We go in, and we went up in this Institute's dining room. I almost catch fire because I'm a vampire and we figure we're going to be here for a while. We go out to get clothes and you get attacked by those, what were they again?"

"Automatons." Clary explained. "They're made of metal and are controlled by Mortmain."

"Who wants to kill all the Shadowhunters, but obviously won't if you and Isabelle and everyone are still alive."

"Exactly."

"And Magnus said that he was the one who brought us here and that he was the one who tried to kill us with the pack of raum?"

"Mmmhm."

"And there's going to be a battle of some sort soon and we're going to fight the automatons and that's why he brought us to this time. So we could help everyone in this time so Charlotte won't lose the institute."

"Yes."

"And they won't remember us or the fight because Magnus is going to wipe their memories and he's going to wipe our memories too."

"Basically."

"But…why?" Simon asked. "I mean, if it's going to happen in the past, it's already happened. So why didn't he wait for a better time to come back? Like after his vacation or when you were better trained. Why send us back so suddenly? I mean, we just got back from Idris a few weeks ago and you just started training."

"I don't know." Clary admitted. "It's weird. But Magnus said that he talked to Tessa, in our time, so he must've known that we would come eventually."

"He talked to Tessa?" Simon asked. "When?"

"I…" Clary paused, and then, her eyes widened with realization. "Wait, at the party. In Idris, Magnus was talking to girl with brown hair at the edge of the woods and…it was Tessa."

Simon nodded. "Okay, but that doesn't answer the question. You said that Magnus said there was a specific reason we came to this time and left our time. And we know why he brought us here so what is happening at home that we need to miss?"

Clary shrugged. "I don't know, but I want to find out."
