I don't own the percy Jackson series. Or the Heroes of Olympus
Five and a half years later I was nervously awaiting the return of my husband. He was due back at any minute. I had important news to tell him. I wiped my clammy palms on my legs. I didn't know how he would react. He could be as happy as I was, or he could flip out completely.
I had set the table for us, dinner was boiling on the stove, bread was in the oven, fruit was in the bowl. I had lit a candle and set it on the table. It flickered now and then making it's shadow dance.
Then finally Owen entered the room. He had on a dark black pants and a white button up shirt.
"Aww, Sugar, you made dinner already. Such a nice girl." He coed coming over and hugging me. Then he kissed my cheek.
I sighed, better to get it over with and not spend dinner fidgeting and worrying. "Owen?"
"Yes, Sugar?" He grinned at me. Then it melted away as he saw my concerned face, "What is it?"
"I'm kind of, uh." I began, "Pregnant."
He looked at me in a sort of dazed way. Then he opened his mouth, "Wait what?"
"I'm pregnant." I said softly looking up at him.
His eyebrows scrunch together, he looks at the floor, like he is forgetting something important. Then his eyes shoot open. The grin spreads across his face.
"You're having a baby." He laughed. His smile was ear to ear. "You're having a baby."
I nodded, I wasn't sure if he thought I was joking or not. He skipped over and kissed my cheek. Then pulled me into a hug.
He leaned down and whispered into my ear, "We're going to be parents."
I smiled and turned around wrapping my arms around his neck. I put my head to his chest. "We're going to be parents." I echoed.
He pulled me over to the couch and sat down. Then he pulled me onto his lap. I cuddled up to him. A minute later the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it." I said, Owen reluctantly let me stand up. I quickly make my way over to the door and open it.
"Cupid, It's good to see you." I said happily.
Cupid however did not return the smile. "As to you Clair. May I come in?"
"Of course, Owen is on the couch. Do please sit down." I said opening the door wider for him to enter.
He quickly came in and went straight to Owen. I closed the door and relocked it. When I came in Cupid was sitting down.
"Father, it's good to see you. May I ask why the unexpected visit?" Owen asked smiling at his father.
"Owen, it's about Christopher." Cupid began, Owen instantly paled, "He was attacked by someone or something. He's in the hospital now."
"How, where was he?" Owen said frantically.
Christopher had gotten married to Mia Evans, a daughter of Apollo about two years ago. Mia was almost seven months pregnant now.
"Does Mia know?" I asked worriedly. Cupid nodded.
"She's at his bedside now. They're performing surgery and stuff now." Cupid said just loud enough to here.
"This be dreadful for Mia." I whispered quietly.
"He's," Began Cupid but then he stopped," Something's burning."
My eyes widened and I quickly made my way into the kitchen. Pulling on oven mitts I pulled the bread out of the oven. The whole outside was a dark brown almost black. I threw it away and took the noodles in the pot off the burner. I had a feeling neither Owen or I would be eating tonight.
I reentered the room where Owen and Cupid were.
"You both should go down, for Mia." Cupid said.
I nodded and grabbed a jacket and followed Owen out the door. Five minutes later we were at the waiting room of the hospital.
We walked straight up to the front desk, "I'm Owen Tang. I'm here for my brother Christopher Tang." Owen said.
"Right this way." She said then quickly stood up. We followed her as she led us through the maze of hallways.
Then finally we were outside the room. To the side was a viewing window. Ten chairs and three coffee tables were outside. Only four weren't occupied. I glanced around all six of the other children of Cupid were sitting. Including Caesar who had taken a large leap away from the family after Owen and I had our wedding. Which he didn't attend.
He had puffy red eyes when I looked around the room. Then again so did everyone else. I was sure that I did too. Mia was pacing around the room. Her hands were rubbing together.
Samuel stood up to embrace Owen, but Cesar beat him to it. He pulled Owen into a full hug. Tears began fully streaming down his face and he buried it in his brother's hair.
"I couldn't get it out of my mind. Christopher if he died would know I cared. If it was you in there, and you died. The last thing I had done to you was get mad at you for getting married before me." He sobbed into Owen's hair.
Owen broke out of his daze. He launched his arms around his brother. Both were crying slightly now. The rest of the suns of Cupid gathered round and joined the hug.
"It's going to be ok. We've got to keep up hope. It isn't going to help him any if we're all thinking that he is for sure going to die." Samuel said sounding slightly hopeful.
"You're right, Sam. You're absolutely correct." Alex said, giving a sharp nod.
They all sat down, "Mia do sit down." I said to her.
She glanced at me, then made her way over to a chair. She tapped her feet for a minute. Then her hands for several. Then she drummed her fingers on the arms of the chair for thirty seconds, before she started pacing again. This time I didn't tell her to sit down.
Eventually later, a nurse brought blankets and pillows. Two for each person of each. I lied one blanket on the ground then the set the pillow down on top of that. Then I pulled the other blanket down on top of me. Owen didn't join me. He was pulled into the mound of cuddling brothers.
I smiled at him through narrowed eyes. Then I yawned. The final thought I had before I fell asleep was, Father please let him live. I don't think any of them could take it.
Thanks for reading. Hope you liked it. I'd promise you something good, but I don't really have anything good to promise you that will happen in the next two chapters. Well not bad, but not good, it's like events that only are OK, things they aren't good things but they aren't bad things. Anyways I'll stop ranting. Review?- Tyme
