*Author nervously waves to audience* Hey guys. I finally got to this chapter.
*Author gets punched by Jason* You said you'd update soon.
For your information, college has been getting harder! I had to put together a collage in three days, and on top of that more and more work keeps piling up!
Celebi: Well, at least now you have a new computer to work with.
Oh right. Yes, I did in fact get a new laptop! It's a Dell that will be replacing my literally falling apart HP Laptop (Which would have gone into three years of use had it lasted until December). And, I can use Word on this! But unfortunately that means having to move all my work on the site over into Word. Ah, whatever. Anyways, it kind of drags near the end, so fair warning. R&R, PM, and Enjoy!
Chapter 10
(Jason's POV)
After Professor Oak left, we said our farewells to Mr. Pokemon, who gave the egg to Janice, and made our way back down the route. We made a turn and found the path that would lead us to Violet City. The path had a few trainers in the way and we got challenged by several of them. Thankfully, they were beginner trainers too, and I was able to beat them easily using Typhon and Blaster. A few were surprised that I had a Kanto starter, and after a while we finally made it to Violet City. That's when I remembered.
"We left Meema back in Cherrygrove!" I face-palmed myself for being so stupid, and Janice placed a hand on my shoulder. "
Hey don't worry, all we have to do is go back, and explain that we got caught up in a few things."
I nodded my head, "Yeah, I'll go back. Janice, why don't you try looking around town, see where everything is." Janice gave me the thumbs up and I raced back through Route 30. I jumped over the ledges, allowing me to get around faster and ran to the Cherrygrove Pokemon Center. As I was about to go in, the door slid open and I accidentally ran into Meema. We both fell to the ground, and I accidentally released Typhon and Blaster.
Daddy, are you okay?!
What happened? What's going on?
Meema was rubbing her forehead and she noticed Squirtle next to Typhon. "Jason, since when did you get a Squirtle?" She asked, standing back up.
"I got him from Professor Oak," I said, standing up as well. Meema looked surprised, and asked me about what happened. I told her about how Janice and I met up with Mr. Pokemon, the egg that he wanted to show us, and my battle with the professor.
"Wow, and you won against a Dragonite? I'm so proud of you Jason." I laughed a little and remembered another thing.
"Crud, we were supposed to go back to Professor Elm's lab, and I asked Janice to wait there." I felt stupid, like my head was losing memories and details.
"Not to worry, Jason." Meema said, wagging a finger in the air.
At that moment, someone called to us inside the Pokemon Center, "Ah, Jason." I looked and saw Professor Elm was walking towards us.
"Professor Elm showed up some time ago, and we've been talking about you and the other trainers since."
I was still surprised, and finally said, "Well then that's great, we can go to Violet City and Janice can show you the egg Mr. Pokemon gave us."
Professor Elm looked surprised, "An egg? Tell me, what did the egg look like? Any distinctive marks?"
"Yeah, as a matter of fact, it has orange and red triangles all over, and the surface is cream colored."
Professor Elm thought for a second, "Well, I would say it was a Togepi, but you said the triangles were orange and red. A Togepi has red and blue triangles with a white shell. Either way, we should get going in case that egg hatches." I nodded and I began leading the way to Violet City. A few wild Pokemon jumped us, but Typhon was able to deal with them easily. When we finally made it back to Violet City, I pulled out my Poke-Gear and turned on the phone app. I tapped Janice's name and the screen turned dark. A few moments later, Janice came up on screen. It looked like she was in a very large house, with lots of chairs and tables.
"Hey Jason, I'm at the Trainer School. I figured I should try to refresh my memory before we leave." Professor Elm stepped over to me and I held it so he could be seen. "Oh, Professor Elm!" Janice said, having also forgot we were supposed to go back. "I'm so sorry, we got caught up in a lot of stuff and we forgot to head back to New Bark."
"Don't worry, Janice," he said, "as a matter of fact, we just arrived in Violet City. I'd like to take a look at that egg now if you don't mind."
Janice nodded, "Okay, I'll meet you at the Trainer School. I still need to catch upon some things I might have forgotten." Janice clicked off and I put my Poke-Gear back in my bag. "Alright, to the Trainer school then!" Professor Elm led the way, since neither me nor Meema knew where to go, and in a few minutes we were outside of the school. As we went in, I noticed a lot of kids were either taking notes, talking with each other, or playing with smaller Pokemon. We found Janice talking with the teacher, who noticed us come in. She seemed to be no older than 20, and had short brown hair that stopped at her shoulders. She wore a sea green blouse with khaki pants, and also wore glasses.
"Ah, students, we have some very special guests here." The children turned their attention to us and the teacher continued, "This is Professor Elm, the Pokemon professor of the Johto region, and these two are trainers who recently got their first Pokemon." The children went into an uproar, asking question upon question for Professor Elm, Janice and I.
"Alright, everyone!" The noise gradually stopped, "head out to the playground and we will be having a very special battle held by our two guest trainers." As the kids ran out of the building, I went over to Janice and asked what that was all about.
"Well, I was talking with the teacher when you called, and when she learned I was talking with you and Professor Elm, she asked if we could have a mock battle and answer some of the kids questions." I gave her an angry look, but Meema soon began pushing us towards the door.
"Don't want to disappoint the kids, do we?" We were pushed outside, and the first thing we saw was a crude battlefield, surrounded by several kids and Pokemon.
'No turning back now, I guess.'
As Janice and I made our way to the opposite ends of the field, the teacher said to the kids, "Okay, class. Get ready to see a Pokemon battle firsthand." I grabbed my first pokeball and tossed it, "Let's give these kids a real show, Typhon!" As Typhon entered the battle, the kids became excited to see the Fire Mouse Pokemon.
"Shine like a star, Lucy!"
Upon the second Cyndaquil's entry, one of the kids asked, "How can you both have Cyndaquil? I thought there was only one of each."
Professor Elm answered that before I could, "Jason's Cyndaquil was actually given to him by his mother. You don't necessarily have to have one of the three starters as your first Pokemon. It can be a Pidgey, a Sentret, even one of you parent's Pokemon if they allow it." The children seemed really excited about this idea. I could hear some of their thoughts, ideas about what other Pokemon they could choose for their first Pokemon.
"Okay," the teacher said, "let the battle begin!"
"Lucy, use Tackle!"
"Typhon, dodge and use Flamethrower." But make sure it doesn't get out of control.
Cyndaquil dodged by jumping over Lucy and firing a concentrated Flamethrower directly at her. The students were surprised that he knew that move-which, clearly, would become a regular thing-but began cheering for Typhon.
Lucy wasn't hurt that bad, but Janice recalled her. I could hear the teacher explain about type advantages and how recalling a Pokemon is sometimes the best course of action. Unfortunately, I knew that she would be sending out her Bulbasaur, Belle. Which would be weak to Typhon.
Just as I had thought, "Take the lead, Belle!" She threw her pokeball into the air and the Grass-type Kanto starter appeared on the field. Unlike what I thought would happen, the children became excited to see the new Pokemon. Professor Elm was even more surprised by the fact that she had a Bulbasaur.
"Okay, Typhon return." Typhon looked back at me and ran back to my side. The teacher explained that sometimes a Pokemon will choose to stay outside of it's pokeball.
"Come on out, Blaster!" Once Blaster came out, the kids got even more excited, and Professor Elm was even more shocked.
"Okay, Belle, use Vine Whip!"
"Blaster, Withdraw!" Blaster retreated into his shell, protecting himself from damage due to Vine Whip being a physical move. "Blaster, Water Gun!" Still in his shell, Blaster shot a small, yet fast stream of water at Belle, but doing little damage.
"Okay Belle, drop him!" Belle picked up and then dropped Blaster using her vines, and the resulting impact forced Blaster out of his shell. I felt something after Blaster was dropped, and looked down at Typhon. He was shaking, but for what reason I had no idea. "Okay, Belle, Razor Leaf!" Several leaves were shot into the air from the bulb on Belle's back, and the leaves soon turned and shot at Blaster.
"Blaster get out of there!" Before he could dodge, a stream of fire shot past him and scorched the leaves. I looked down to see the source, Typhon. I squatted down and asked, Typhon, what was that for?
I couldn't just sit back and watch him take all that damage. Daddy, you knew I could beat that Bulbasaur, so why didn't you let me?
I wanted Blaster to get some experience too, plus I know you could beat her easily, which seems unfair. Typhon huffed, and I noticed Janice had sent out Lucy.
"How about we make this a double battle?" She called out. Typhon answered for me by running out onto the field, and I shook my head.
"Alright, ready?" Janice nodded, and she made the first move.
"Lucy, use Tackle on Typhon; Belle, Razor Leaf on Blaster!"
"Typhon, dodge and burn the leaves, Blaster, Water Gun on Lucy!" Typhon jumped into the air to avoid Lucy's Tackle, shooting a Flamethrower at Belle before she could even use Razor Leaf, and Blaster shot a Water Gun at Lucy while she was still moving. Lucy was pushed back and Typhon dropped to the ground, ending the Flamethrower just as Lucy was about to hit Belle. Lucy collided with Belle, and both fainted from the impact.
"Alright, way to go!" I shouted. Blaster and Typhon ran up to me, and I knelt down to catch Typhon as he jumped up and Blaster hugged my leg. Janice returned her Pokemon, and I dug through my bag. I pulled out some Potions, applying them to Typhon and Blaster so their injuries were healed. I also pulled out two Revives and tossed them over to Janice.
"Heads up!" I shouted as they left my hands. Janice looked up, catching on in her left hand and the other hitting her forehead and dropping to the ground. The kids laughed a little, and ran over to us. They were particularly paying attention to Typhon and Blaster; one scratched Typhon under his chin, causing Typhon to stand on his toes and then fall forward. The children laughed, and I held up Blaster's pokeball.
"Okay, Blaster, ready to go back in?" Blaster, who was enjoying some of the attention, turned and nodded.
Alright, I guess I've had enough excitement for now. Jason sent out the red beam and Blaster went back into his pokeball, much to the children's dismay.
"Typhon, how about you?"
Alright, but let me up on your shoulder. Jacob knelt down and held out his hand so Typhon could climb up and, once again, the children were a little sad that they couldn't interact with him.
"Okay, class," the teacher said, "I'm sure these two have somewhere to be." The children thanked us for the battle and they went back into the building.
Meema walked over to me and smiled, "That was an excellent battle you two. So, to the gym we go?" I looked to Janice, and she nodded. "To the gym we go!" I shouted, raising a fist into the air.
Okay, finally got this updated. I sincerely apologize for the delay. R&R, PM, and still more to come.
