Heyo! So I decided to make a double update today, and this will cover Route 34 and the Daycare, as well as some of Goldenrod City. So, what to expect? without giving away major spoilers, a couple new faces, new additions to the team, I think we're all good. So without further ado, R&R, PM, and Enjoy! (Oh yeah, and I found the line break tool in the edit/view section of document manager. I still want it back on the main editing bar.)
Chapter 18
(Jason's POV)
Janice asked me more questions as we made our way through Ilex Forest: what was it like to be raised by Pokemon, could I understand what they said, and how did I adapt to human life? I answered her questions the best I could and I realized I would have to tell Meema about this.
"Meema, can you hear me?"
Silence for a moment, but when I tried again she responded, "I can hear you Jason. And...I know about everything."
"Well I made the best cover story I could come up with. Once we get the chance I'll go over it with you."
"Alright, I'll meet you two in Goldenrod City."
It was silent for a moment, but I asked her, "Meema, what do you know about Darkrai?" Silence again, but Meema never responded.
It wasn't long before we were out of the forest. I had never been past this part of the forest before so I was both eager and anxious to see what was on the other side. After leaving the forest, we came out to another route. "This is Route 34," Janice said. She pointed in the distance, where I could see a city skyline. "That's Goldenrod City, our next stop. If I'm right, there should also be a Gym there."
I smiled, thinking a good Gym battle would take my mind off of that kid and the Darkrai. As we made our way there, we were stopped by a few trainers, and we decided to get some training in for everyone. Janice trained Mark some more, and hardly switched him out, and I decided on training Blaster for a while.
We also ran into a few wild Pokemon, and Janice was able to catch a female Poliwag which she nicknamed Pearl. Before we reached the city, we came upon a small house. A sign was placed in front of the house, and read "Pokemon Day-Care". The house had a fence that stretched out into the forest, with several Pokemon behind the fence. Many were from here in Johto, but I could see some Pokemon that were not native to the region.
Janice figured it would be interesting to check it out and we went in. Upon entering we saw many more Pokemon inside, some behind a fence, others playing and running around the building. In the back there was an elderly woman, about 60 years old give or take. She wore a pink floral sundress and had her hair up in a bun held by two pins. She had a small bird Pokemon on her shoulder; it had reddish orange feathers around its head and gray and white feathers below the neck. It was an exotic Pokemon, that was sure, I had never seen a Pokemon like that before.
The woman noticed us and said, "Ah, welcome to the Pokemon Day Care. Are you here to drop off some Pokemon?"
"Actually," Janice said, "I wanted to know more about this place, and about Goldenrod City too."
The woman nodded her head, "Goldenrod's just up the road, and we usually get business from the people there."
The Pokemon on her shoulder chirped at us, "She takes really good care of us, too. Some of us don't even have a home."
"So are all of these Pokemon from other Trainers?"
"I'm afraid not," the woman said, looking sadly at some of the Pokemon. "Some Pokemon here have no home: Trainers that couldn't take care of them anymore, others separated from their families. Little Fletchling here got caught up in a storm and flew through our window looking for shelter."
The tiny bird chirped again, "I still want to look for my family, but I'm still young and unevolved."
I took out my Pokedex and pointed it at the bird Pokemon. "No data available for this Pokemon."
"No data?" Janice asked. "What does that mean?"
"Fletchling is not from this region, you see," the woman said, stroking the bird Pokemon's chin. "He's from the far off Kalos region."
"Kalos?" I asked. I had never heard of that region before, and Meema told me about all of the major regions: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Orre, Sinnoh, and Unova. Could it be a smaller region that I never heard of? Janice gasped in awe and pulled my shirt.
"Jason, look." I turned and saw a massive Pokemon walking through the open door that lead outside. It was a Golem, and as it walked through some of the other Pokemon ran away from it."Whoa, a Golem!" Janice exclaimed, apparently never seeing one before. There was something familiar about this Pokemon, but I couldn't place my finger on it.
"Golem was abandoned by his trainer as well. A shame, really."
"Master not abandon me!" the Golem shouted. "Master go into egg! I released from capture!" I gasped in surprise and the Golem saw me. "You!" It shouted, pointing a finger at me.
"I recognize that Golem," I said. Both Janice and the woman were surprised when I said that. "It belonged to a poacher," I continued. The woman didn't believe me at first, but Janice wasn't as skeptical. "He was stealing Pokemon from the forest, but he was stopped. All of his Pokemon were released, including this Golem."
"Yes, I remember now. You child of Celebi!" He said Meema's name really loud and all of the Pokemon stopped what they were doing. They were all looking at me, and anxiety soon set in.
"That Golem must have said something to make them all stop," Janice said, looking at all of the Pokemon.
"Is it true?" I heard the Fletchling say. "Are you really a Celebi?"
I didn't answer, but the Golem said, "Of course, I saw Celebi with my two eyes. Master wanted to capture Celebi and egg, but he stop Master." Both Janice and the woman were amazed by the conversation, even though they couldn't understand it.
"I've never seen Golem like this," the woman said, "he's always been so reclusive but now he's more active than a Spoink."
"Child of Celebi," the Golem said. "I remember your words before I left."
I remembered them too, 'I hope we get to see you again as friends.'
"Please," he said, "will you let me join you as one of your own?"
I looked to the woman and asked, "Would it be possible for me to take Golem with me?"
The woman nodded and smiled, "I see no reason why you can't. Just give me a few minutes to grab some paperwork and we'll get it settled then." The woman left, Fletchling jumping off her shoulder, and she pulled out a small file. There were several papers inside, groups of them paper-clipped together. She took one and handed them to me. She told me where to sign and what each of them meant.
I agreed to everything and once it was done she said, "Alright, you're all set. Golem now belongs to you." I smiled and pulled out a Poke Ball.
"Alright, Golem, you ready?"
"Yes!" I tossed the Poke Ball towards him and he was captured. It wobbled for a few seconds before closing shut and it returned to me.
"Welcome to the team Golem." I noticed Janice was also filling out some paperwork, and waited for her to finish.
"Alright, that's it," the woman said. She handed her a Poke Ball and Janice thanked the woman. We said goodbye and I let Golem out to stretch his legs a little.
"Alright, welcome to the team. So what would you like for a nickname?"
"My name Gorz," he replied.
"Alright, Gorz it is." I turned to Janice and asked which Pokemon she adopted. She tossed out the Poke Ball and the Fletchling came out.
"Say hello to Fletch."
"Hello, everyone."
I smiled at that and Janice explained, "While you were filling out your paperwork, this little guy took a shine to me and I asked if I could adopt him."
-Flashback, Janice's POV-
Jason began filling out his paperwork and I waited for him to finish. I sat down in one of the chairs and waited for them to finish. The Fletchling flew over to me, landing on my lap and I giggled a bit.
"Hey, little guy."
"Fletch fletch!" The Fletchling nuzzled against one of my arms and I smiled.
"You're not as shy as I thought you'd be."
"Fletch, fletch fletch." Fletchling jumped onto my shoulder and nuzzled my cheek this time, making me laugh. I stood up as Jason went over to the Golem and I asked, "Excuse me? I was wondering if I could adopt Fletchling. I think he's starting to grow on me."
The woman smiled, "I don't see why not. After all, it does look like he wants to go with you."
"So is that a yes?"
She pulled out a set of papers and said, "Just sign these and he's all yours."
-Flashback end-
"So, Fletch is now a new member of my team."
"I hope I can get stronger by travelling, and maybe even find my flock one day." I smiled and Janice asked what he said. I repeated it to her and she smiled at Fletch.
"Well, until then you and me are going to be friends, I just know it."
"Yay!" Fletch replied, stretching his wings.
Gorz tapped my shoulder and said, "New master?"
"Just call me Jason," I telepathically said to him. Being called "master" just didn't sound right.
"Jason, the others are out there too."
"The Spiritomb and Houndoom?"
"Yes, they go farther away than me."
I nodded, "Well if we find them again, we can ask them if they want to join us."
Gorz smiled and I decided to return him. "Alright," I said, "next stop is Goldenrod City." As Janice and I made our way to the city, I tried talking to Meema again.
"Meema, are you still in the city?"
"Yeah, I'm at the Pokemon Center."
"Okay, we'll meet you there."
The Center was easy to find and we went in. Janice and I got our Pokemon checked and I saw Meema over at one of the tables. I waved to her and she noticed us, waving back. She came over to us and said, "Jason, Janice, glad to see you here."
"Oh, Ms. Gilman. I didn't expect to see you here. I almost thought we left you back in Azalea."
"No, I actually went ahead because I was getting you these." She pulled out two CD cases from her purse that she was carrying and handed them to me. These weren't just CD cases, though, inscribed on the front were the letters "HM", and they also had numbers next to them. One had "01" and the the other had "05".
"These," Meema said, "are the Hidden Machines for Cut and Flash. I'm sure they'll come in handy." I thanked Meema and put them in my bag.
"Uh, Ms. Gilman?" Janice asked. Meema looked to her and Janice continued, "I know about Jason and his family." Meema pretended to look surprised and I telepathically told her all that I said to Janice. "After the incident in Azalea, Jason told me everything."
Meema heard that and she said, "We'll discuss this later."
"That doesn't matter now," Meema said. "Jason, there's a Gym here so I'd suggest you'd better get going."
I nodded and said, "I'll see you guys later." As soon as the door opened, I ran into someone for the second time. I fell back and groaned as Typhon was accidentally let out.
Typhon jumped onto my lap and said, "Daddy, are you alright?"
"I'm fine Typhon," I replied. Typhon got off of me and the person I bumped into held a hand out to me. I took it and I pulled myself up, apologizing.
"It's alright, not the first time you've bumped into me." I realized it was the same guy that I bumped into back in Violet City.
"Right, sorry about that as well."
"It's alright. I see you've made it to Goldenrod just fine. How many badges do you have?" I pulled out my badge case and showed him my two badges. "Impressive, but let me give you some advice. The Gym Leader here is named Whitney. She uses Normal-type Pokemon, but don't think this will be easy. Her first two will be easy enough to take down, but you'll want to watch out for her Miltank. Few have beaten it on their first try."
"Any suggestions, then?" He was silent for a moment, and walked past me.
"I don't want to make it too easy for you. Figure it out for yourself." I watched as he walked over to the counter and talked with Nurse Joy, and I decided to talk with my current team. I went out to Route 34 again, where it was clear enough for everyone, and brought everybody out.
"Okay, our next Gym battle is going to be against Whitney," I said to everyone. "She uses Normal-types, so I think we should play to our strengths here. Gorz," he looked at me expectantly, "since you're a Rock-type, you should be able to take hits from Normal-type moves, so you'll be a definite addition to the team."
"Right."
"Victor and Ariana," they looked to me and I knelt down in front of them, "I think you two should sit this one out. I'd like to train both of you some more before I use you in Gym battles." They nodded in understanding and I stood up again.
"Blaster and Typhon," Blaster looked up to me and Typhon jumped off my shoulder to join him. "You two are more trained, so you'll be two and three."
They nodded and I looked to Victor and Ariana, "If it does come down to it, I'll use one of you guys as back up." They thanked me and I decided to check up on their stats again before we began training.
And there we go, folks. Another chapter has been put up and the gym will be coming up soon. Now before I wrap this up, I have two things to say:
First of all, here are the current team stats for Jason's team.
Typhon/Cyndaquil-Lv. 17: Quick Attack, Flame Wheel, Flamethrower, Eruption
Blaster/Squirtle-Lv. 15: Water Gun, Bubble, Tackle, Withdraw
Victor/Bellsprout-Lv. 20: PoisonPowder, Growth, Vine Whip, Wrap
Ariana/Spinarak-Lv. 19: Poison Sting, Night Shade, Leech Life, Shadow Sneak
Gorz/Golem-Lv. 32: Steam Roller, Rock Polish, Smack Down, Explosion (Although Golem learns the move at Level 53, it can learn it through a TM)
Keep an eye on those levels. Secondly, I understand that DarkFoxKit has been getting reviews about Jason and asking if they can submit OCs. First off all, I'm sure she's got her own plans for the story. However, I'm open to some suggestions. So if you have an idea for a Child of a Legendary, you can suggest it. However, Mew, Victini, Shaymin, Celebi, Darkrai, and Lugia are all off limits. Mew, Victini, Shaymin, and Lugia's kids have all been mentioned in Kit's (I'm just going to call her that from now on, it's easier to say) stories, and Celebi and Darkrai in mine. Obviously it's not limited to just Johto. Until then, R&R, PM, and suggest away!
