Hey everyone, so I know that you were probably expecting a Halloween chapter for at least one of my stories, or maybe just a Halloween one-shot. Well, unfortunately I don't. I did start working on one where all of my OCs are in an apartment building for a Halloween party with a self insert by yours truly, but it ended up turning into an argument about story updates and cheap party games. However, I was able to cook up this short chapter. It's not exactly a Halloween chapter, but in addition to Chapter 20 (which I will be posting today) this will give a little more...suspense. Be sure to R&R, PM, and Enjoy!

It was a rainy night in Goldenrod City, the pitter-patter of raindrops rhythmically tapping against the window as the residents slept. There was a rumble of thunder overhead as the rain picked up and some of the light in the Pokemon Center began to flicker on and off. The resident Nurse Joy was turning in for the night and began talking to herself about the storm.

"It's picking up quite a bit," she said, "I hope this storm clears up before morning." She finished filing the last of the paperwork as the light suddenly turned off, the hum of electricity fading.

"Oh dear," she whispered. She went under the desk and pressed a button, which activated the back-up power, and the lights came back on.

As she stood, she was suddenly surprised by a boy that stood in front of her, screaming a little. "Oh," she sighed in relief, holding a hand to her chest, "I'm sorry, you scared me." She smiled, trying to laugh out her fright. She looked at the boy again as he removed his hood. He had very dark, black hair with streaks of white and blue eyes.

"Forgive me if I scared you," he said, "I tend to walk silently and as a result I unintentionally sneak up on people."

"Oh it's fine," Nurse Joy said, regaining her composure and straightening herself. "Do you need a room for the night?"

"No, no," the boy said, shaking his head and smiling. "I'm only going to be here for a while, and then I need to head back out."

Nurse Joy nodded as he stared at her with those blue eyes. She felt unnerved by them, and he soon walked off in the direction of the rooms. "On second thought," he said, stopping for a second as he stared at the door that lead to the rooms, "maybe I will stay for the night."

Nurse Joy nodded again, keeping her eyes on the boy, and grabbed a key at random. For whatever reason she could not take her eyes off of him. She felt intimidated, frightened by this boy, and as she handed him the key he looked at her with a piercing glare. Nurse Joy got a cold chill down her spine as he thanked her and walked off.

As the boy walked down the hall, he stopped in front of one in particular: room 3. He sensed the familiar, pathetic presence of Celebi's child behind that door and he chuckled as he continued to the next room over, which was his room. He opened the door as a clap of thunder sounded, louder than the last, and he sat down on a bed.

The room had only one bed with a table next to it and a dresser with a large mirror standing at the wall opposite the door. He stood once again, walking over to the mirror, and picked it up off the dresser. He moved it over to the table, clearing it off first, and setting it down flat. The mirror side was up as he gazed into it and he pulled out his Dusk Ball. He pressed the button and it opened to reveal Darkrai, his best Pokemon.

"Darren, why have you called me out?" The Darkrai asked, looking around the room. "We are not in a battle, so what is the meaning of this?"

"Check the next room over," Darren replied, "and you'll find out."

The Darkrai began to sense a presence in the other room, and he soon identified it. "Celebi. Along with her child. That is why we are here?"

Darren smiled, "Yes…and no." The Darkrai looked at him skeptically. "He's only part of the reason, but right now I need to speak with someone."

The Darkrai noticed the mirror and figured it out instantly. The mirror suddenly warped as it bent downwards and grew cloudy. It wasn't long before the mirror had become a wormhole and a new, dark presence entered the room.

"Who dares disturb me at this hour?" A deep, menacing voice asked. A shadow with red eyes soon emerged from the wormhole, glaring at the boy.

"My name is Darren, and I am the Child of Darkrai," he replied, not even fearing the shadow.

"And why have you called for me?" The shadow asked, its red eyes clearly showing anger. "I was in the middle of something very important, and if you disturbed me for nothing I will make you regret it."

"Calm yourself, Giratina," Darren replied, not even fazed by the shadow's threat. "I would not have contacted you if it were not important."

"Then speak!"

"Fine. In the room next to me there is a child of the legendary Pokemon, Celebi."

"And you need my help in this matter? Why when you can easily crush him yourself?"

"Because I also sense other children, those who would sympathize with this child and aid him."

The shadow growled, "What do you need?"

The boy laughed at the shadow's question like it was nothing. "Have you adopted a child for yourself?"

Ooh, creepy. What does Darren have planned? Until then, R&R, PM, and enjoy Chapter 20.
