"Birdie? Are you ok?" said Gilbert waking up to a shaking body next to him. Mathew was curled up in a ball as close to him as possible and, of course, hogging all the blankets. "Birdie wake up"
"uuuuuggghhhhh…noooooooooo" cried Mathew refusing to open his eyes and snuggling closer to Gilbert for warmth. "I'm cold."
Gilbert tilted his head in confusion then pressed a hand to Mathew's forehead. It was burning and so were his cheeks. "Birdie," he sighed "I told you, you would get sick…"
Mathew sniffed and turned his body to where he was burying his face in Gilbert's chest "how come, sniff, you didn't get sick?" he coughed "you're an albino…sniff…you're not supposed to have…sniff…a strong immune system…" he said dozing off at the end.
"I'm too awesome to get sick… that's why" he said hugging the Canadian closer. He had to let go, however when there was a knock on the door and a certain albino woman on the other side.
"Gilly! Are you two awake?" she called from the other side of the door. Gilbert wondered how she was able to wake up so early and still be so cheerful.
"Ja?" he said opening the door.
"How are you too still asleep?" she asked but didn't let him answer. "Anyways it doesn't matter, hurry up and get dressed we got a lot to do today!"
"Actually Mat-Madeline got sick from yesterday so…umm...we're gonna stay in today" he said scratching the back of his head.
"Oh what a shame, I hope she gets better. We only have two more days here I wouldn't want her to spend it locked in the room."
"She'll be fine don't worry about her…you and dad go enjoy yourselves!" he said shooing her away "bye mutti!"
He closed the door and listened as she sighed and walked away. He noticed Mathew was shaking violently so he rapidly made his way back to the bed and laid next to the blonde which immediately snuggled closer. Gilbert smiled and ran his fingers through his hair with one hand and grabbed the TV remote with the other. He started flipping through the channels looking for nothing in particular until he grunted at the movie that popped up on the screen. The little mermaid. Gilbert changed the channel only to get a sharp whimper from the Canadian next to him.
"What's wrong birdie? Does something hurt? He asked panicking.
"Change it baaaaaaaack" he cried.
"What? You don't seriously want to watch this do you?"
"I like that movie."
"That movie is for little girls" protested Gilbert.
"B-but…but….GIIIIIIIILLLLLLL!" he cried again snuggling closer to him (if that was possible). "I wanna watch iiiiiiiitttttt!"
"No, were watching a more suitable program for adults"
"But Gil I'm siiiiiick!"
"If you keep whining like that you're not gonna get any better" he said irritated.
"I wanna watch it!"
"I don't care" he said with a sigh. When Mathew didn't say anything he turned his head to look at him only to turn it back towards the TV quickly. "No Birdie don't you dare!" Mathew's eyes wet wide with tears forming at the corners, his nose and cheeks were red and he was sniffling.
"Y-you don't care?"
"Birdie c'mon you know perfectly well that I didn't mean it like that" he said not daring to make eye contact with him.
"So….s-so….are you saying you don't love me?" he said as his big violet eyes sparkled with the tears that were forming.
"I never said that" he said still not looking at him in the eyes. "I'm not gonna change it back."
"You don't love me!" he said looking down and closing his eyes. The tears that were stuck at the corners of his eyes rolled down and he began to cry.
"SHIT NO, BIRDIE DON'T DO THAT!" He said turning his full attention to the blonde "BIRDIE STOP CRYING…I DO LOVE YOU C'MON!"
Mathew lifted his hands to his face and cried harder. "NO YOU DON'T!" he said crying "YOU HATE ME!"
"NO, NO, NO, THAT'S NOT TRUE I DO LOVE YOU!" he said but he didn't get a different respond from him. "FINE I'LL CHANGE IT BACK OK! JUST STOP CRYING!"
"KAY~!" Mathew immediately stopped crying and Gilbert sighed.
"You, know you're an ass when you get sick" said Gilbert as he flipped back to the movie.
"Am I a cute ass though?" he asked as he snuggled into his chest batting his eyelashes.
"No, you have a cute ass. There's a difference." He grunted. Once he found the movie again he let out an irritated sigh that Mathew took as a sign of victory. Gilbert didn't understand why he liked this movie, there was too much singing and too colorful, but eventually decided to ignore that and actually pay attention. He found out that he was actually quite interested in the movie.
"What the heck? How do the other animals know the song the crab just came up with?" complained Gilbert. "And what's up with those creepy frogs singing on the paddle? And how do they not see them singing?"
"It's a Disney movie Gil…don't question it" said Mathew giggling at the fact that the albino was actually enjoying the movie. Gilbert stayed quiet after that and continued watching the movie. He even began hoping that the prince would kiss Ariel. But unfortunately that didn't happen during that scene.
"That bitch! That was uncalled for, she has no right to do that!" yelled Gilbert as the boat got tipped over and the moment was ruined. "She can't interfere!"
Gilbert noticed that next to him the Canadian was giggling like a mad man and turned to look at him with a confused look. "What's so funny?"
"This!" he said simply "The contract they made never said she couldn't interfere"
"Birdie are you siding with the villain?"
"Yes" he said without a second thought. Gilbert looked at him with a raised eyebrow and Mathew proceeded to explain. "Ursula is one of my favorite Disney villains…and I never liked Ariel to begin with."
"What? Why not? You like Prince Eric or something?" he asked jokingly but stopped when Mathew looked at him with a grin. "Wait you do?!"
Mathew giggled and hugged Gilbert tighter but didn't say anything making the other sit up straight.
"You can't be serious, what's so great about him? He has flowy hair, likes walking on the beach, he plays the flute and has a furry dog…that's not manly!"
"Gil, you own a giant stuffed bird named Gilbird…"
"You're missing the point!" he yelled. "What's so great about a pretty boy?"
"Well let's see…" said Mathew holding his hand up and listing thing. "He's nice, charming, like's animals he can dance, has awesome hair-"
"Ok first off all his hair is not awesome, ok? Mine is" he said interrupting Mathew. "He has boring black hair. Second of all, anyone can waltz, third of all-"
"Awwwww" It was Mathew's turn to interrupt. "Is Gil jealous of a fictional character?"
"What? I am not…I'm just proving a point" he said folding his arms over his chest. "Let's just finish watching the movie."
"Gilly is jealous!" he said in a sing song voice.
"You know, I'm starting to wish you were more like Ariel" Mathew gave him a questioning look "…she's pretty, has awesome hair, she can't talk!" he said emphasizing the last part.
Mathew stuck his tongue and snuggled closed to Gilbert again while the other rolled his eyes as he wrapped his arm around him and they both continued watching the movie. Gilbert complained every once in a while during the rest of the movie and Mathew only giggled which Gilbert found as a good sign that he was recovering. Before the movie was over, Mathew fell asleep.
He looks so cute when he's asleep, thought Gilbert. He watched him sleep for a couple minutes until he also got tired. He gave Mathew a quick kiss on the forehead and snuggled with him hugging him closer and eventually fell into a happy sleep.
oooooOOOOOooooo
"Please stop! I'm sorry!" Mathew cried as he was thrown against the wall with a painful sound from his back. "Please stop it hurts!"
He was pinned to the wall by a hand grabbing his hair forcing him to stay up. He let out a sharp cry as a fist connected with his stomach but was forced to stay still. The same fist punched him across the face a couple times making the blonde cry in agony as he was forced to stay standing.
"You little fag! I knew there was something weird about you since I first saw you!" said a male voice as it continued punching and kicking the smaller man. "Someone like you shouldn't be near my son!"
"Vatter stop!" cried Gilbert from aside but he wasn't heard. He wanted to move, the fear kept him stuck to the ground. He was unable to do anything "Stay away from him!"
Again he was ignored. He wanted to do something but he just couldn't, just like all those years ago, he stood and watched. He watched Mathew's agonizing look and heard his horrible screams but the fear kept him in place.
"Look at what you have done to my son! You don't deserve to live!"
"He has nothing to do with this! It's not his fault, stay ways from him!" all he could do was scream and hope he would hear him. He hated himself for not being able to do something about it, and Mathew had to pay for it.
"Stop it! Please just stop! Stop!"
Gilbert woke up sweating and panting. It was just a dream, he thought to himself, just a dream. He ran his hands through his hair still panting with tears threatening to spill at any second.
"Gil?" he turned around to see the Canadian sitting up with a concerned look on his face. Gilbert immediately trapped the smaller man in a hug and buried his face in his hair. "Gill what's wrong?"
"You're ok...you're ok" he said in a whisper mainly to reassure himself. Mathew was confused but didn't push the matter further, instead he just wrapped his arms around Gilbert and didn't let go.
