Chapter 8

Erin's Point of View

"Wrong thing?" I asked hesitantly.

"Define wrong thing?" I added.

"Mom what's wrong?" Alex mumbled as she opened her eyes.

"Nothing honey go back to sleep. I just need to talk to Jay." I replied as I gently got off the bed and went into the bathroom.

"Jay?" I said to make sure he was still there.

"I'm here." He whispered.

"Tell me what you guys did." I replied.

"We decided not to kill Neal that he should go through the system, Voight thought it would be easier for you to accept, you know us not being responsible for his death….but um…" He trailed off.

"But um what?" I hissed.

"Turns out he has friends and we were….outnumbered….Erin he got away." Jay told me.

"He what?" I yelled causing Alex to get up to investigate.

"Were are you now?" I asked Jay as I looked at Alex.

"On our way to you." He replied.

"Ok well I will see you when you arrive." I said ending the call.

"Everything ok?" Alex asked.

"If I tell you this I don't want you to worry…." I began to say but was cut off by a commotion outside.

Looking towards the door we went to investigate. Just as Alex pulled it open we saw the cause of the disruption. Neal was standing at the desk with a gun and two companions.

"Someone better tell me where my daughter is!" He was roaring at the staff.

"Back inside." I hissed to Alex.

"What no what are you going to do?" She whispered back.

"Not your problem, go call Jay." I said as I shoved her back into the room and closed the door.

I then turned by attention back to the scene.

"I'm here." I announced before I could think.

"Ahh there you are." Neal grinned.

"Come here." He said as he opened his arms.

Reluctantly I approached him and allowed him to hug me.

"Try and escape and I will kill your lovely son and daughter who I saw you push into that room." He sneered as he pointed to the direction of Alex.

"Now where is Bunny?" He asked the nurse next to me.

"She's dead." I lied.

"You shot her." I added.

"She died? That was unfortunate I was aiming for your daughter. I wanted Bunny alive, to be part of our new family. Together." He sighed.

Delusional, that was the first word that sprung to mind when I thought about Neal. However fearing he would go after Alex I went along with his twisted thought.

"At least we can be together?" I suggested.

"Yes that we can. Well I guess we should be off." Neal said as he placed his arm around my shoulder.

"Harry, take care of the kid." Neal smiled as he pulled me along.

"No!" I gasped, realising he meant Alex.

Struggling to break free I was relieved to hear familiar voices.

"I wouldn't move if I were you Harry." Jay hissed.

"Let her go and our offer of not killing you stands." Voight directed towards Neal.

Turning along with Neal I saw Dawson and Ruzek clear out the staff while Olinsky kept tabs on the remaining guy.

"I'm not letting her go. She is all I have left." Neal replied.

"Then I guess we will have to shoot you." Voight stated.

Knowing what his slight head nod meant I immediately forced my head down as he took a shot. Making his target Neal howled in pain as the bullet hit its target. I didn't know where it hit all I knew was I was free and I made a run towards Voight. Opening his arms I practically flew into them while the guys took care of the now panicked duo. Without their leader they were very cooperative.

Jay approached once he knew the others were ok. I released myself from Voight as Jay took over.

"I'm sorry. Guess we should have kept to Voight's traditions." He whispered.

"Maybe but all that matter is you got here in time." I replied as I pulled him for a much needed kiss.

A few weeks later

Erin's Point of View

"Mom can you let Alex and Chase in?" I called to Bunny.

Who since being shot had turned over a new leaf. We were actually getting along and since her latest husband had left her, I had offered to let her stay with us until she was better.

"Why doesn't she have a key?" Mom sighed as she got up.

"She had one but Jay confiscated it for a week." I told her.

"Why?" Mom asked confused as she opened the door.

"Because she snuck in and stole our shopping last week." I laughed.

"Not this again. Tell dad I will buy him more Oreos!" Alex smirked as her and Chase walked in.

"It's not about the Oreos." Jay said as he greeted the pair.

Sensing the same discussion as the week previous I quickly announced dinner. Once we were all settled and Jay J was happily smashing his potatoes into his chair, we got onto the real reason for the dinner.

"So when is the wedding? I'm assuming soon seeing as how you will be showing soon!" I asked Alex.

"Well about that…..We were thinking two weeks…." Alex grinned.

Until next time ;-)
