Chapter 9
Erin's Point of View
One week until the wedding.
Rushing around and trying to organise your daughters wedding is not as satisfying as one might think. Alex was so easy going regarding the matter that we had a number of falling-outs. The worst being when we were picking her dress.
"Alex, will you just pick a dress? You only have a week left!" I yelled.
"Mom I can't just pick a dress!" She cried.
"Yes, yes you can. It should be easy because you have tried on the entire store already!" I argued.
This earned a glare from her as she jumped off the stand.
"I need a break." She announced as she headed for the door.
I jumped up and yanked her back by the arm.
"No not until you at least narrow it down!" I hissed.
"Your terrible, your suppose to be supporting me." Alex moaned.
"I am supporting you. I am trying to get you a dress for your wedding because at this rate you will be wearing your pyjamas." I replied sarcastically.
"Everything ok ladies?" The sales assistant asked.
"Fine." Both and Alex and myself told her.
She nodded and walked off.
"Alex why can't you pick a dress? You look great in them all." I questioned.
"No reason." She mumbled, but I knew she was lying.
"Alex?" I pressed.
"Mom its nothing." She complained.
"Kid come on I know there is something so just tell me." I said.
Reluctantly she walked over and sat beside me.
"I don't know if I'm ready for this." She finally admitted.
"Define this?" I asked.
"Being married, having a kid and a job." She confessed.
Realisation finally hit me she was having cold feet.
"Oh Alex you should have told me!" I replied as I put my arms around her.
"If your not ready for this its ok. Chase will understand." I told her.
"Mom he won't!" Alex said as she began to cry.
"Alex he will and if he doesn't then he doesn't deserve to be with you." I replied.
"It's to late, we already told everyone." Alex sniffed.
"Alex if this isn't what you want then you need to tell me. Its not too late, but it might just be cold-feet." I told her.
"Cold-feet? Did you have them?" Alex asked.
"Um a little….but I knew Jay longer." I replied.
"That's a no isn't it?" Alex sighed.
"Everyone is different all that matters is you love Chase and you want to marry him." I said.
"I do love him, and I do want to marry him…." She trailed off.
"But?" I pressed.
"But this seems rushed, like it isn't the right time." Alex admitted.
"Then you need to talk to Chase." I told her.
"And if he doesn't agree?" Alex questioned.
"Then you work things out. It's called being a grown up." I laughed.
"Yeah, that sucks." Alex said but she managed a small smile.
Jay's Point of View
Erin had trusted me with the job of getting the suits. The girls had them picked all Chase and me needed to do was try them on. I called it bonding time. So after I left Jay J with Voight I set off with Chase.
"Nervous?" I asked as we walked into the store.
"No." Chase mumbled, but I sensed a lie.
"What was that?" I questioned.
"Huh?" Chase replied.
"That." I said.
"Your nervous aren't you?" I pressed.
"A little….." Chase trailed off.
"Seems like more." I stated.
"Jay can we just try on the suits." He complained.
I nodded, but I wasn't going to drop the subject. So when we came out in our suits I asked again.
"Chase is everything ok?" I asked.
"Fine." He lied.
"Chase you can tell me, I promise I'm not going to kill you." I joked.
He didn't laugh; he just stood their sheet white.
"Kid?" I asked concerned.
"I'm not ready to get married!" He blurted out.
"What?" I gasped shocked.
"I'm not ready for this. I mean I am really excited for the baby and I want to get married cause I love Alex but this is so rushed. I feel sick at the thought and I don't know how to tell her because she seems so excited!" Chase rambled.
"Wow that's a lot of information in 30 seconds." I sighed.
"I'm sorry I know I shouldn't be saying this…." Chase trailed off.
"No I'm glad you did." I assured him.
Just at that my phone went off. It was Erin.
'Alex is freaking about wedding she said she isn't ready. Can you send Chase to meet her at the restaurant outside our apartment? x'
The message read.
I couldn't help but smirk as I read it.
"Your making fun of me?" Chase cried.
"What? Oh no just a message Erin sent me. Um can you go to the restaurant outside our apartment?" I asked him.
"Now?" He asked confused.
"Yeah now." I said as I tried to stop the laughter.
"Why?" He questioned.
"Just go." I replied.
He looked incredibly confused as he left the store.
As soon as he was gone I dialled Erin.
"Break down with the daughter?" I laughed.
"Yip, is Chase on his way?" Erin replied.
"Yeah he left a few seconds ago. Guess what?" I asked.
"What?" Erin replied.
"Chase broke down to!" I told her.
"Shut up! Really?" Erin laughed.
"Yip!" I confirmed.
"Jay meet me at the restaurant I have to see this awkward conversation!" Erin giggled down the phone.
"Be there in 10!" I said as I ended the call and ran off.
This would be an interesting watch….
Until next time ;-)
