Chapter 5

"Where the hell is he?" Brittany said, leaning on the door. She and Steph had been waiting for 20mins in the pickup for Alvin. She had since sent a text out to the others saying how they were going to be late home. The car park of the school was practically empty apart from a few teachers' cars.

Steph was sitting on the bonnet sun baking and listening to the radio she had on, "Look he's either sweet talkin' his way outta detention or else he's caught up in the showers" she sat up, eager, "Want me go check?"

Brittany raised an eyebrow and smirked, "No, last time you did that, it took us another 20 mins to get you out again"

Steph held her hands up in defence, "What?"

In the distance the girls could see Alvin and Alex laughing and walking toward the car park. Getting closer Brittany called out, "Where the hell have you been mister?"

Alvin held her round the waist and threw his bag in the tray, "What up baby?" he kissed her on the mouth, "I was just checkin' out photos of Alex's auto project"

Alex apologised with a smile, "Yeah sorry my bad; I was telling Alvin about my baby, the Beast"

Steph slid off the bonnet, "Why do all guys name their cars, "the Beast"?"

Alvin climbed into the cab before helping Brittany into the cab, "It's a guy thing"

Steph shrugged and stepped up to get into the car, "Hey Alex you need a ride home? I mean there's no room, but if you wanna ride in the tray be my guest"

Alex smiled and looked back into the school, then back at Steph, "Thanks, but I'm waiting for my mum, I better see how her first day went too"

Steph shrugged, "Ok, well guess we'll see you tomorrow?"

Alex nodded and started back toward the teacher's car park, where he waited alongside a blue Honda. Steph turned the ignition and backed the car out; she waved out the window and drove back to the Seville's.

On the way home Brittany asked, "So Steph? You and Alex? Is it gonna happen?"

Steph frowned out the window, "Britt, shut it"

Alvin looked over a Brittany then at Steph, "What? You like Alex...after one day?"

Steph hit him, "Shut up, I know...and I don't know if I like him, he's hot yes, but...yeah one day...shut up"

Alvin rubbed his leg, he looked at the ground then after some silence spoke up, "What about Zach?"

Steph glared at him, "Alvin shut it"

Alvin nodded, "Ok sorry...and Jesse?"

Steph's tone of voice became more firm, but she was trying not to laugh, "Alvin seriously" Alvin saw the smile creep up on her face, and laughed, "Ok I know Carter isn't a threat anymore"

At this Steph broke out in laughter, "I will ram this car off the road, now just drop the subject ok?" she pulled in front of the Seville's house.

Alvin and Brittany leapt out from the cab, Brittany smiling as she leant on the door, "Wanna come hang out this arvo?"

Steph mulled over the thought, "Hmm, Nah, better get some house work done before daddy comes home"

Brittany smiled and closed the door, only to have it opened seconds later by Alvin, "Steph and Alex sitting in a tree"

Steph threw a plastic bottle at his head, but Alvin managed to close the door, making it bounce off and roll onto the floor, he opened the car door again singing, "K-I-S-S-I-N-G" Steph swiped at the door and pulled it shut, as Alvin quickly pulled out. He smiled charmingly and waved as Steph flipped him the bird, giving a half smile. Brittany was laughing as she dragged Alvin by the bag up the footpath, waving as Steph drove off.

She was only a block away when her phone rang. Without seeing who it was, Steph hit the loudspeaker button, "Steph, speak to me" with this came a chorus of high pitched voices singing, "First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the"

Alvin interrupted loudly into the handset, "Sexy time, Yew!"

Steph grabbed the phone, "Argh, you guys! Damn you!" she hit the end button and threw her phone near her bag. Turning the music up, she turned into her street, and headed for home.
