Avenger: Chapter 2

It was strange-no, this guy with eerie red eyes that spun in a lazily fashion was strange. However, before I could blink, within a moment his eyes were no longer that eerie crimson no they were black, the same shade as his hair. He was tall, slightly muscled and his hair was weird, never before have I seen hair like his.

Earlier he asked me questioned that I couldn't say no to for some reason. I didn't know why, and I didn't understand it. I didn't know what did he meant by ninja, anything at all. As, he asked the questioned and I answered there was something that I was feeling and you know, what? I was feeling even at this moment and something told me, whatever I do, do not anger him and to keep him calm like he was now.

"Brat... Where do you live?" His tone just like earlier was calm.

I had to answer him, or something bad would probably happen and I didn't want to receive another punishment for doing something wrong; "At number 4 Privet Drive, mister."

"What were you doing outside when it was raining?"

"I….I was thrown out because I broke some kitchenware," I said with my head lowered.

"I see."

"What do you know about ninja?"

"Well, they …wear black clothes, move at night, defeat bad guys, and use smoke bombs." I said answering, naming what I knew of ninjas.

"Hn," was the simple reply. I didn't know what that meant, but I continued, taking it as a go ahead.

"Can I ask something?" I was curious.

"What?"

"When you asked me those three questions, I couldn't say anything other than yes, how?"

"I was testing you against my Sharingan. I wanted to see whether you can be hypnotized into doing what I tell you to do or not. Unsurprisingly you failed. I asked you questions in which held little, or no meaning at all. If you had a little control you would have been able to be quiet or stutter in response."

"Oh," was all I could say.

"I am a shinobi, or simply put it a human tool. As, of now, I am serving my yearly exile from my country. Currently; I have been simply studying the various types of snakes in this place, and due to the level of technology –everything; I have mostly been bored."

My brows rose and I tilted my head, I was still confuse, and it was a lot to take in. Unfortunately, I had no time to take in all of it, my mind was young and there was so much I could take in. Before, I knew it he was speaking again.

"I believe that training you might be good amusement for me and probably get rid of the excess time on my hands. Do you accept to be trained?"

"I….." I tried to answer, but nothing, I didn't know how to answer.

"Do not attempt to lie. I can see through it, so think carefully of your answer."

His tone was cold, chilling, and when I looked up into his eyes-eerie red eyes spinning in a way that shouldn't be possible. I was scared, dreadfully I answered unsure if it was right or not, but it was honest.

"I don't know what I will gain by becoming strong or even trained by you, mister."

"Respect and fear; the trash you live with won't be able to hurt you anymore."

"But, I don't want to harm them there my only family," I said trembling.

"Blood might be thick enough to take you in, but it is certainly not good enough to care for your well-being. As, you look right now, the orphans in your country have a better disposition than you do. And, trust me I have been there during one of my visits to the city. "

"I... don't know what to say."

"Then don't. I have seen better clothes on dogs than the rags that you are currently in." It was a fact, the cold hard truth.

Aunt Marge had bought red sweaters for her dogs, they were red and fluffy. She complained on how cold the weather was, while I had been sulking in the corner; freezing as I glared at the dogs. Seeing me, Uncle Vernon had thrown an ashtray at me for glaring at the dogs.

"Hey Mr. …" I called shaking myself out of those unpleasant thoughts.

"Uchiha," he answered smoothly.

"Mr. U-Uch- Uchiha what do want from me?"

"I believe you already heard my reasons."

"But, just because you are bored-"

"My reasons are my own. Take it or leave it."

"I don't think I can do the training. I am weak and I might disappoint you," I uttered sadly.

"You are weak because you are underfed, and the negative attitude is probably because you haven't been ever appreciated for anything you did or have done." Once again he nailed the cold, hard truth.

"…."

"When I say I would train you, I will take care of you and make sure that you get good food along with clothing. That's all."

"But, the cost-"

"I have enough money to pay for three generations of your family, and even then not a pinch in my clan reserves."

"Clan?" What was a clan?

"Yes, the Uchiha clan is one of the major clans of our village. A clan is more like a joint family."

"Can I join it?"

"No, you need to be born or either have an approval of a clan member to stay in the compound. Even, then you can't call yourself an Uchiha."

"I think… No I want to be trained by you, Mr. Uchiha."

"Call me sensei, or sir."

"Sensei."

Later that night when I returned to #4 Privet Dr., I saw that everyone had gone to bed, and the lights were turned off. I tried to open the door, but it was locked then I went to the window. Hoping that that it wasn't locked and thankfully it wasn't; unlatching the window I crawled inside making my way to the cupboard under the stairs.

As I lay, I remembered what Mr. Uchiha had told me. "You accepted, very well. I expect- I had to be at his home at 5am tomorrow morning.

My mind drifted and I closed my eyes, sleepily.

Sasuke's POV

I stared at the black haired, green eyed kid who had come to my house out of breath a few minutes shy of five. It looked as though the kid had come without breakfast and I could see the signs of hunger lingering his form. As, I turned from looking out of my window; making my way out I grabbed a ration bar and a chakra pill. The moment I came out I could see the kid leaning against a tree. Making my way to him I called out to him and he immediately straightens up. I tossed the ration bar to him.

"Eat." I commanded and the kid looked at me for a second, before undoing the wrapping and biting into it. I expected the child to make a face at the bland taste, but the kid surprised me- he ate without any complaint.

I pondered this for a second, before I noticed that he had finished eating.

I cleared my throat; "Kid I will activate your chakra network today, but you still won't be able to use it, not until your body is strong enough to handle it."

"What's chakra?" He asks in that same curious tone he used yesterday.

"It is a combination of spiritual and physical energy in our body which helps us to create techniques to assist us in everything we do." I gestured for him to come closer and he obeyed.

He turned around, back facing me, and I sent chakra to my palm. I touched his head then proceeded to move my palm to his shoulder blades. I could feel the boy twitching a little as I sent about 4-5% of chakra directly into the kid's body, making the boy almost jump away from me before he settled down.

"I haven't activated your network completely just certain areas; just enough that your body doesn't break." In short it was enough for the boy to start training on the easy-very, very basic stuff.

The boy nodded his head, turning back around to face me.

I gave him a chakra pill to swallow and he did it without hesitation. The kid was too trusting just like Naruto; in fact he was a lot like the idiot, but there was one thing that would keep tolerating him- and that was that the kid was far from annoying. Annoying, as in he wasn't like the Konoha idiots in that aspect –lust annoying as in, just like a kid.

"Now, I want you do 20 pushups, 15 sit ups, followed by a run around the neighborhood. Once done come back here. Any questions?"

"No sir, not at all."

"Start," I commanded.

Harry's POV

After my run; I ran back to Mr. Uchiha and found him sitting on one of the chairs on the table, eating a fish. He spotted me instantly and pointed his finger towards the fish which was on another plate. I was about to eat it up, but Mr. Uchiha stopped me before I could even touch it.

"Wash your hands; first room to the right." He instructed.

I nodded, headed towards the bathroom and came out a few seconds later, immediately once I was seated I began eating the fish; using only the fork. It was easy to eat with the utensil as the fish was cut into small pieces.

I had barely finished my first-when another plate was handed to me. It wasn't fish, no; it was filled with several carrots and tomatoes. I simply ate without any questions or complaints. This was more than I had ever got at Aunt Petunia's house and I welcomed it completely.

A bowl of noodles was suddenly shoved in front of me. This was more than I have ever eaten; the fish and the vegetables were more than enough, but I couldn't deny it-well, I could, but this might be my only meal for the day. The Dursley's weren't going to feed me when I returned, and if they did it was just going to be crumbs, so I continued to eat.

When I had finished I looked up at Mr. Uchiha who had the same emotionless look as always, staring at me with his head slightly cocked to one side.

"Rest now, we'll continue your training later."

Later that night, when I arrived back home; I again noticed that the doors were locked. To my luck the window which I had used to get in yesterday was still open; entering inside I quickly headed towards the cupboard door, closing it behind me.

I pondered for the first time in my life- someone had fed me without malice or any ill feeling and had acknowledged me as something more than trash. Someone who thought I wasn't freak. I felt my vision going blurry as tears ran down my cheeks. I wished and pleaded desperately that my aunt and uncle would someday accept me just like Mr. Uchiha had done today, and cried against the pillow until the tears on my skin dried and there were no more tears to cry.

Sasuke's POV

As the night grows darker, I prepared a single shadow clone and sent it to the boy's residence to determine the plight, or the situation concerning the family. I was surprised to find that they were civilians through and through. The head of the family, or the father worked at a company that manufactured drills, while the mother was a doting housewife, and an incorrigible gossip that was already spreading stories about her delinquent nephew; who had taken to wandering, remaining absent the whole day, and how the kid was a pain to their family; greatly putting the blame on his parents who were apparently no good drunks that got themselves killed in car crash.

If it had been anyone else they would have doubted her completely.

"You know my Dudley-kin is going to start school next month. He's such an adorable boy" I heard her say to her neighbor who was all ears.

I snorted. Adorable boy; that kid was good enough to be a meat shield and nothing else. Drooling here and there, breaking vases, plates, dropping glasses, etc. and then blaming it on the boy. I gathered that his name was Harry. The mother – that idiotic woman would simply nod at him before shouting a few expletives at her nephew.

She stopped babbling, craned her scrawny little neck towards the house as if the boy was listening in. Unfortunately, the boy was actually at my house training and eating to his hearts and health's content.

There was another thing I gathered and put together- didn't take a genius was that whoever had placed him with these people- kept him with them probably had a few screws loose or wanted the boy to grow unloved and hated.

After all who had most experience when it came to such emotions?

Having the information my clone dispersed.

Harry woke up next morning to face his guardians the next morning. He had to tell them where he was going every day even if they didn't love, or care for him. They were the only family that he knew of. Mr. Uchiha had given him the day off being a Sunday and all, so this was his chance to tell them.

So, waking up at six in the morning he made the breakfast did the chores, and when his aunt arrived she poured herself some tear that I made in the cup and was about to take a sip when she eyed Harry for a second.

"What do you want brat?" She sneered venomously, clearly she didn't want to be bothered, but Harry needed to tell her.

"I wanted to talk to you and tell you something."

"What is it?"

"I have got a part time job with the man who lives at number seven. And, I have been spending the past few days at his house-"

"So, that's where you had crawled; if you are finished I want you to leave."

"I wanted to ask do you approve." I asked with hope in my eyes.

She snorted. "The house is a better place without your stench lingering here."

That hurt…"I come home every night to sleep here."

"I do remember locking all the doors. How did you get in?"

"I came through the window," I answered feeling stupid for hoping that she –one of them would approve.

"As, expected of your kind, - always in places where they are uninvited, unneeded. I will be locking the windows from tonight."

"Will you keep the door open?"

"No, I won't! The few days without you have passed in peace- there hasn't been a single argument in the house."

"I…I-" I didn't know what to say, nor how to respond to that. They wanted me gone and would be happier off if I was never in their lives.

"I would like you to move out and get rid of you, but I can't, even if I want to. Ask your employer to provide for your lodging as well as everything else. Without you to feed Dudley-kin's can eat more," she finished saying the last bit in a doting tone.

"Don't you want to meet him?"

"No I wouldn't waste my time or bother myself with such frivolities," her tone was no longer doting and she was back to snide, cruel remarks.

"But he is a stranger…"

"If he is ready to take you off our hands we have no complaint! And, what kind of sane- normal person would want to associate with you?" She huffed, "if they can be around you freak, then i-we have no business to associate with them."

"His name is Mr. Uchiha."

"Weird names give rise to weird people who are nothing, but trouble for us normal folk."

"He is a researcher, who has been working on the study of reptiles." I said, clinging to straws. Mr. Uchiha had told me what to tell people when they would ask about him.

"Good someday one of those reptiles might eat you and rid the world off your presence."

I stared at her, socked, broken, lost. They were supposed to tell me to stop, or keep away from people whom they knew nothing about, but here she was unconcerned about everything that concerned my well-being. I was unwanted space I knew that from what she plainly stated. Why did she hate me- no why did they hate me? I was family and yet.-

My feet began moving backwards as tears streamed my eyes; and I felt as though no one wanted me and needed me! Hitting the door open, I ran until I as out of breath.

I had reached his house. He was sitting in the garden sipping tea- in a figure four position. His eyes like always instantly see me. Raspy, though my voice was, I had to say it. I had to get it out before I would collapse.

"Can I be a live-in pupil? I am ready to do any house work, to pay for my keep. Please I have nowhere to go and nowhere to live," I was trembling, shaken to much from the way my aunt so gladly kicked me out the house.

"Why?"

"I want to prove to them. I want to prove that I am not a waste of space, that my life is worth something, and that I will be successful in life regardless of what they think or believe. I am ready to put in every inch of my sweat, blood, and tears to show them." I declared, but I wasn't done and had more to say. "A-A-And, even if I have no talent, I will work hard! Harder than anyone and make you proud of me. I swear!"

I could see the corner of his mouth twitch forming a smirk. I then knew for the first time since I met him that there was no turning back, but I was not going to go back on my word, I was not going to turn back; I wasn't prepared, but I was ready for whatever he was going to throw at me.

"If that is your case then I accept. Welcome to the Uchiha residence Harry."

And, that a wrap! First of all want to say sorry to those whom I had offended with my previous author's note. I had just written it for the heck of it and I didn't actually expect anything from this story. So, I was surprised when people read it- regardless of flamers and reviewers. This is the end of second chapter of Avenger. Hope you like it! I won't be removing my previous chapter as it will definitely remind me not to ever take my reviewers and readers for granted and sorry again.
