Another Path
Yes, another chapter for my story.
I have to give a little warning though. My life schedule is tightening around me and my stories might have setbacks in their usual updates.

Chapter 9: Power Unleashed
"My eyes!" The Icejinn screamed in agony, the energy-wasted Earthling falling to the island ground below without the frozen demon knowing "Bastard, what did you do to me?!" The Icejinn didn't even know that Krillin was no longer in front of him due to his lack of energy sensing. Piccolo was the one who responded with a barrage of fast blows. The attacks rained down on the temporally blinded lizard. Piccolo fired a descendant axe strike to Frieza's head, sending the ice demon down a few meters staggering but barely harmed or bruised.
Piccolo charged forward pressing the advantage as much as he could have it. But Frieza, though only seen in blur could still catch something coming towards him. When Piccolo was in range, the galaxy emperor spun around, whipping the Namekian warrior with his ivory tail. The limb pushed Piccolo backwards after the blow to the face, causing some purple blood to drip from his body. The white aura exploded around the Namekian warrior, boulders on the ground flung aside, as he powered up to his maximum.
The still eye-closed emperor shot a telekinetic blast taking the Namek warrior by surprise. The TK hit Piccolo in the chest, winding him back. By that time Frieza had already regained much more clarity, firing many Dead Beams into the Namekian. Piccolo clutched his teeth, his purple Gi scorched in some parts with the beams going through him. His body had a few holes like a cheese. Thanks to his natural abilities, he could heal many of them. But that would take time, something his situation lacked a lot.
Frieza suddenly enclosed the Namekian inside a TK bubble. As the green warrior tried to come up with something to escape his grip and also not die by wasting his energy, the Icejinn diverted his attention from Piccolo to the ground. The emperor was easily holding the Namek off without even having to look at him. The Namekian gathered his powers, exploding around him in an explosive wave. The effort, however, didn't do anything useful. In fact, it only drained Piccolo even more.
"Foolish snail" The Icejinn mumbled, still looking to the ground "Where the hell is that midget?" Frieza mumbled angry, ready to pay Krillin back for his little trick. But as much as the eye could go, there was no body around.
A mighty roar echoed behind the Icejinn, taking him by surprise. As he spun around, a giant red ball of energy impacted him, sending Frieza backwards through the air. The Icejinn increased his purple aura, the red energy reduced to harmless sparks by the stronger power.
The towering Ozaru looked murderous to the emperor and former employer. The baleful red eyes looked ready to pound Frieza down to dust. The Icejinn was looking to the giant ape's right in the eyes. There was a smirk plastered on Vegeta's new furry face.
"Now Frieza, it's time for you to face a Super Saiyan!" The giant Ozaru roared, his ki sending shock waves outwardly. For a giant monkey, the Saiyan Prince was fast. Fast enough to suddenly take the Icejinn by surprise, swatting him to the left at murderous speeds, crashing against an island that crumbled down to nothing over the emperor.
With the galaxy emperor distracted, Piccolo lost his TK prison, allowing some rest for his battered and bleeding body.
"Stay out of this Namek" The Ozaru roared to the resurrected Namek of Earth. Piccolo flew up to meet Vegeta in the eye. Though the Namek had fused with Guru, it didn't mean he would be less interested in fighting. Still, together or not, Piccolo appreciated the rest. His body was still healing the damage as fast as it could.
"What a great picture" Frieza said, floating up, barely injured "A Namek and a Saiyan thinking they can actually defeat me. Mark my words fools, because you are the only two who will die here!" The purple aura shone bright around Frieza, as he sped off. His fast speed delivered a front kick to the face right into Piccolo, the Namek flying down to the ground. The Icejinn turned his attention to the towering ape. Vegeta tried fire another red blast from his mouth but Frieza easily banished out of sight, with the attack flying into the horizon.
A second later, Frieza was already delivering a front kick to the Ozaru's guts, the prince doubling over. With swift velocity, the galaxy emperor started raining down on the transformed Saiyan, pinballing around easily with only half of his powers. The royal Saiyan came crushing down on the island, his giant bulk causing tremors around the earth formation. Water waves erupted upwards by the tons of weight.
"I don't know how you survived my last attack Vegeta, but you should have simply died when you could" The tyrant mocked with a grin. The beast roared in answer, the back of his throat expelling a planet-breaking purple blast. But as the energy drifted forward, Frieza simply kicked it away to the horizon, creating a giant mushroom cloud. Vegeta didn't stop, however, firing a front fist to his former boss. Only for Frieza to catch the attack with much more strength.
"Your death is near, monkey. You are not even making this funny. Apparently half of my power is far too much for you" The Icejinn mocked, his eyes sending a TK blast to the Saiyan's forehead. The attack was completely unexpected and devastating. Vegeta was sent backwards to land on his back, nearly drifting into unconsciousness.
Piccolo stared at the fight, after resting for a few minutes. The little time Vegeta bought was not enough to heal him in full, but at least he was no longer in a deadly situation. In front of Frieza, Vegeta shakily stood up, the giant legs not carrying him now so easily. Only sheer Saiyan stubbornness was keeping him up.
The Earth Namek flew up, his white aura shinning with the little power he still had. The Icejinn saw his ascension though, and spun around smilling in mocking.
"Still alive, eh?" Frieza taunted, folding his arms on his chest "Guess I'm losing my aim"
"Sadly for you, I haven't" Piccolo retorted, a yell of power escaping his throat. His right hand moved up to his forehead, his index and middle finger shinning with yellow sparks.
The palm tree-haired Saiyan called Goku opened his eyes surprised. He could only remember a pain in the chest and then nothing. Next to him, the crouching Namekian child sighed in relief, taking the sweat out of his brow.
"I thought you were gone. I barely holded you and Gohan at the same time" The Namekian kid said to Goku.
"Thanks Dende" The Earth Saiyan said to the Namek who smiled, before going into healing Gohan and Krillin "Take good care of them" The Saiyan shot into the air, feeling Frieza's power along with Piccolo and Vegeta. All three of them were many times stronger than before the Saiyan was knocked out. The Earth fighter took off after them, knowing something had to be done.
Just when the Earth Saiyan arrived in scene, Vegeta suddenly received a purple slash of energy.
"Special Beam Cannon!" The fuseed Namek yelled, his index and middle finger shooting forward. A drilling yellow/purple beam was shot forward, going straight towards Frieza. The Icejinn, however, only stood there confident. And with the same confidence, he swatted the attack aside.
The brushed-aside attack hit into the Ozaru's left shoulder, causing a roar in pain to leave Vegeta's maw. Frieza fastly delivered an elbow to Piccolo's sternum, the Namek falling down to the ground, now completely energy-less. A second later, the Icejinn came flying down on Vegeta's head. The Saiyan Ozaru was sent forward, his elongated face hitting first the ground. The Saiyan was still breathing, blood oozing from some parts of his body. But he was no longer moving. Even for the strongest Ozaru ever known, Frieza was just too much at only fifty percent of power.
With a purple slicing movement of hand and a smirk on his ivory face, the giant monkey tail was splitted from the rest of the body. Vegeta clutched his teeth in anger and pain, as his body shrinked down to human size, blood dripping from many wounds, both internal and external.
The Prince was suddenly floating up, the telekinetic grip on him, completely unbreakable for his now powerless body.
"You could have been a great soldier Vegeta. Just remember that this came by your own doing" Frieza said, his hand's fingers clutched together, ready to pierce the flesh.
The attack was immediately intercepted, an orange/red-figure standing now in front of Frieza. Frieza's hand was squashed, causing the Icejinn to wince, back-stepping. The grip on Vegeta loosen up and the Saiyan Prince was now on the ground, hard-breathing and tired. He could only see how Kakarot fought. If he could.
"So you still alive?" The emperor smirked, the back of his head trying to come to terms how the Hell the monkey was still alive.
"I'm just hard to kill" The Saiyan responded, his red aura shinning bright with thirty times the normal power he had. Goku immediately shot forward, his knee hitting Frieza's chin sending him up in the sky. Frieza shot his hands forward, creating a fast telekinetic shield. Goku was suddenly expelled back from the power, as Frieza suddenly unleashed more of his powers. The tyrant's ivory muscles bulked up a bit as his energy increased exponentially up to eighty percent of his true powers. He was not going to be catched unguarded like the first fight they had. Goku felt the unleashed power and it was very close to his own. Maybe stronger.
The fighters shot forward, wind gusts flowing madly around them. Both demon and Saiyan were a second later trading blows at super-fast speed, their attacks causing shock waves all over the green planet. The sky was getting darker and covered with clouds, lightnings echoing in the distance.
The wounded Prince couldn't keep any track of their rapid charges. It was obvious he was outclassed again by the low-class Kakarot. How did he do it?
Goku was tail-slashed down to the ground, caving a little crater on the time of impact. Frieza went after him, trying to land his three-fingered foot into the Saiyan's head and splash everything with his grey brain matter. The Saiyan shot his hands forward, a red dome shield covering Goku. Frieza's foot clashed against the sudden energy construct, causing him to recoil backwards. The dome disappear and Goku went straight forward for the attack.
The Saiyan's left punch was aimed for the nose, but Frieza catched it with his own hand. Now in range, The Icejinn took his turn to attack with his own free fist, though this time Goku was the one who catched him. Now with hands locked, the fighters charged their powers at each other. Both warriors had their auras shinning bright, red and purple fighting for dominance. The ground beneath them caved with their amazing ki powers, the titans fighting for leverage against the other.
"Why keep fighting?" The Icejinn asked, really not understanding this kind of people "Why torture yourself and not simply let me kill you?"
"I'm not doing this for me, monster!" Goku replied, his voice as powerful as his blows "It's for all the ones you have slaughtered. For everyone you slaved!" The Saiyan strained his grip, but Frieza kept him unmoving an inch.
"There's nothing you can do Ape!" Frieza said with a winner smirk "There's no such thing as freedom with Frieza. Once a slave always a slave. No one can change that. Not even you!"
"That's not true!" Goku replied, his dark seriousness shown in his face, his aura bringing more power to him "It's not just about freedom. It's our lives. We are all born free and no one can get that away from us. And that's what I'm going to do. I will return the rightful freedom to those that died by your carnage. I'm going to beat you!" Goku's aura kept flaring, trying to overcome the emperor's power.
"Then by all means, try to fight me" The Icejinn invited, his ivory muscles suddenly bulking up, his grip on Goku getting stronger. Time to not be gentle at all. These pests had bothered him for long enough "If you can defeat me at my full power!" The purple aura exploded with red lightning arcs around. The Earth Saiyan was shot backwards, his aura no longer flaring. The clouds on the sky kept roaring with thunders in the distance.
The Saiyan shakily stood up, looking at the full power of the galaxy emperor. His ivory skin rippled with muscles, veins poking the white flesh with extra power. The garnet eyes stared with malice towards the Earth warrior, as the tyrant floated inside a giant crater that extended for a few miles.
The half Saiyan Gohan opened his eyes, suddenly fulled by new strength. Next to him, Krillin was also standing up.
"Thanks Dende" Gohan said smiling. The young Namekian was panting slightly.
"I hope it's enough" The Namek child said, taking a little rest from the excercise.
"Let's hope" Krillin said. Gohan flew up to the air, feeling Frieza's power had skyrocketed from their earlier fight.
"You think we can do something?" The Turtle monk asked while looking at Gohan. The Earthling could feel the power too and it was quite the impression.
"My dad taught me anything is possible if you are willing enough" The half Saiyan replied seriously, the Kaioken shinning around his healed body.
"Goku's son, indeed" Krillin joked one last time, before his own Kaioken flared around him. Both heroes powered up, rocks flying up with their energies causing shock waves, though not as the one Frieza was creating.
"Times fifty!" both human and half human yelled, boulders flinged aside. They bodies echoed in pain but they paid no heed. Both heroes shot forward right into what looked like certain death. But warriors weren't afraid of that.
Goku shot forward with the Kaioken times thirty around him. But this time, Frieza was not just faster but also stronger, side-stepping the blow and countering with his own left hook. The blow caved a small hole in the ground while Goku was sent backwards, blood oozing from his face. His clothes were even more ragged away than the last time.
"What were you saying just a moment ago?" The full-power emperor said mocking, walking closer towards the fighter "All about beating me, making me pay. Guess it was common babbling from where you come from, isn't it?" Goku was ready to reply, but a combined double punch to the nose caused Frieza to skid backwards, not injured but taken by surprise. In front of him, were the child he had killed and the midget that escaped from him. Somehow, both were still alive. The palm tree-haired warrior was on his knees, panting.
"Don't do it guys. He's too powerful" Goku warned them, but they just didn't answer him. They knew the fate that awaited for them, even if not fighting: Death.
"Does nobody stay dead on this days?" The Icejinn asked confused after recovering his bearings.
"Only you this time Frieza!" Gohan yelled, his body burning in its own power. Both Earthlings attacked again, but this time the element of surprise was gone. Frieza brushed their not-so-fast blows, even when they were two on one. Krillin went for a fist to the face, while Gohan went from behind. But Frieza's faster senses caught up with their little trap, as his tail lashed around Gohan's neck, while Frieza blocked Krillin's attack with one hand and the othe hand gripped his neck. The tail elongated, as now both victims were in front of the Icejinn's eyes.
Applying more pressure, the air exploded out of the Earthlings' lounges, their auras fading away.
Frieza, stop!" Goku yelled, struggling to remain on his feet but the tyrant paid no attention. The galaxy emperor grinned in victory, the sickening sound of crunch reaching Goku's ears.
The Icejinn shot both bodies forward, no movement coming from them anymore.
The Saiyan ran up and crouched to see them. Both earth fighters had their eyes rolled behind their sockets. There was no power emanating from their bodies. The Earth Saiyan stared at them, speechless.
"Gohan...Krillin" Goku could only whisper their name, his voice covered with sorrow and disbelief.
"That's the consequence of fighting Frieza. Worms always die by my hand!" Frieza yelled at full lounge, bragging to anyone hearing. His purple aura kept brightening with dark lightnings around him.
Goku's eyes swelled in tears, not feeling the energy from the corpses in front of him. His teeth were clutched in fury. Coldness took over his earthling heart, his Saiyan blood running cold with bestial wrath. Goku's veins poked his skin, a new sudden power increasing from inside his very spirit. A beast roared for blood inside his body, not wanting to be holded back anymore.
"What's the problem Saiyan, afraid of me?" Frieza simply taunted. The Saiyan looked at his enemy, his onyx eyes shinning with new green light. A golden power flowed around the Earth warrior, his muscles increasing and decreasing their mass.
"I...won't let you...get away with this!" Goku stammered, his body twitching in wrath. His hair had golden flashes that appeared and disappeared with the flowing aura around him.
Piccolo managed to walk next to the fallen fighter but couldn't even look to the picture in front of him. His first friend, the one that he had only cared had finally succumbed. The Namek had never expressed this kinds of feelings, but after the fusion with Guru, there was no point in neglecting them either.
"Guess the Namek will be the next victim" Frieza said, pointing his index right into the green distracted warrior.
Staring at the bodies one last time, Goku's inhibitions banished, his mind snapping any coherent thoughts. Reason and self-control left his wrathful body. The Saiyan growled monstrously with unimaginable power, a golden nuke bomb exploding around him. The atmosphere bashed in a golden hue, the entire planet shuddering at the new strong ki source of unbridled power.
The universe finally shone with the light of a Super Saiyan.
"My gosh, what happened?" On King Kai's planet, the overlooker looked flabbergasted towards the planet Namek with his antenna "Wait, this is it. The legends were true" He looked towards Namek with a smile "Goku has become a Super Saiyan"
"Inconceivable!" The Saiyan Prince said in utter confusion while rubbing his injured shoulder and looking towards the new golden fighter "The Super Saiyan is true. And Kakarot transformed first!" But that was impossible. Only an elite fighter could transform.
The tyrant stared at the new fighter in front of him, not knowing what to say.
"What... What is he?, This transformation... I've never seen it before" The bulky Icejinn thought while looking aghast in surprise, while the back of his mind was telling him something. A mighty warrior covered in golden power, with strength unimaginable. That was the last thing his great-grandfather Chilled said before dying "No, no way!"
The new Super Saiyan moved faster than teleporting, not even a microsecond later in front of the still-unreacting Frieza. The new Goku fired and uppercut to the midsection. The mighty fist made a bulge on Frieza's back, the Icejinn spitting purple blood in pure pain.
The Super Saiyan drove his other fist back and attacked with a left hook to the cheek, sending the evil tyrant backwards in the air at rocket speeds "That was for my friends on Earth!" Goku yelled, his aura carrying the god-like power to back it up. The Saiyan flew towards Frieza at sonic speeds, spinning like a tornado. Frieza regained his control in mid-air, only to receive a mighty spinning roundhouse that connected with Frieza's face, blowing the Icejinn's senses and most of his teeth "That was for the Nameks you slaughtered!" The Saiyan again shot forward after his prey. The Icejinn tried firing Death Beams, but Goku banished through each of them with an after-image. The Icejinn remained surprised by the sudden burst of speed, and never saw the golden Saiyan already coming from the sky above him, with his legs forwards. Goku's double-kick hit Frieza right in the back of his head, sending the bulky emperor sprawling down hard to the ground like a meteor "That was for everyone killed in your name!"
Piccolo's head slanted down, as tears were nearly escaping his eyes. He placed one of his hands on each dead fighter. But as he did it, he felt the faint sound of a heart-beat.
"Dende, come here!" The Namekian hearing allowed Dende to hear the guy that resembled Nail "They are still alive, heal them!" Dende got closer to the fallen warriors, and fastly used his energy to heal. Amazingly, in a few minutes, the two Earth fighters were already recovered just as new. Dende panted even more.
"Wha... What happened?" Gohan asked, surprised to be surrounded by his friends.
"Frieza nearly killed you but Dende here save you" Piccolo said with a small hint of smile.
"Thanks Dende" The half Saiyan said to the Namek kid. The Saiyan hybrid looked around "But where's my dad and Frieza?"
"Right there" Krillin mumbled, as Gohan looked to where he was looking. There was flash of golden light pummeling Frieza with apparent ease.
Frieza tried to retaliate with a wide purple energy beam that could shatter two planets. The attack shot forward, but Goku was not in its way, as the blast drifted into the atmosphere. But by that time, the Super Saiyan was already behind Frieza, driving his knee-cap hard into the distracted emperor's spine. Frieza screamed in white-hot pain when his spine was shattered in half "That was for Krillin!"
Frieza's body slanted towards the ground but the Super Saiyan brought him up by the neck to meet his new emerald eyes. Frieza could feel it. Fear, running all over him. Goku's left hand was shinning white/blue with power.
"And this, is for my son!" The Saiyan's aura exploded, sending the alien away "Kamehameha!" The golden warrior fired his one-hand-charged trademark attack, swallowing the bulky Icejinn in full. Nothing remained from the former emperor after receiving a power capable of blasting planets away.
As the blue light dimmed, the Super Saiyan stood still, his face hunched forward a bit. A small stream of tears ran down his cheeks though the golden aura evaporated the water from his eyes. The pain of lost was not something new to him, but never it had been so intense.
"Dad!" The voice echoed behind Goku, who spun around confused. A blue thing tackled him in a huge.
"Gohan" Goku said, his hair suddenly going back to normal black. He didn't know if Gohan was suddenly alive by a miracle or by a Dragon ball wish, but Goku only cared that he would not lose his son again. The Saiyan hugged his little son, making a promise to himself.
The clouds dispersed in a few minutes, while Goku received Dende's healing again, that restored his energies a bit higher than before. The three Suns were again shinning bright in the sky.
"Well, now that we are all together and the Dragon Balls in Earth are back we can head back" Goku suggested smiling.
"I'll go get Bulma from Guru's house. She might be a bit pissed off with us" Krillin said, taking off in the air. The Earth Saiyan turned his head, looking at the beaten Vegeta.
"Dende, can you heal Vegeta too?" Goku asked the child. The Namek looked in fear to the fighter because the green boy could feell the evil inside the beaten warrior. The Saiyan smiled to the kid "Don't worry, if he tries anything I will put him down" Dende sighed, and moved towards the Prince, healing him. The royal Saiyan opened his eyes in surprise, jumping to his feet smiling.
"That was something very foolish Kakarot" The restore Prince said smirking "Now, I will turn into Super Saiyan and prove who's the strongest in the universe!" The Prince yelled and took of towards his own space pod to leave the planet.
"Why did you do that Goku?" Piccolo asked, confused.
"Because I can see that he can have some redemption from his actions" The Saiyan replied confident "He only needs more time to find it" The Namekian from Earth wasn't going to question that. Guru's voice in the back of his mind was telling him the same thing.
After a massive goodbye from the new Guru and the other Namekians, the Earthlings went off in their oval ship back to their home.
All in all, things were going fine.
Notes from Chapter 9:
Sorry for the short Super Saiyan fight, but when a serious Goku goes Super Saiyan serious, you don't have a lot of time left.
From this point forward, the power levels will be from my invention, not related to Daizenshuu or V-Jump or any other DBZ source (Villains alike), so don't worry when you suddenly find an enemy or a heroe with a lot of power that his cannon version didn't have.

Healed (Normal Zenkai): 3.5 millions
Kaioken x30: 105 millions
Super Saiyan: 175 millions

The universe can breath in peace, but now the fighters must head back to their home.
