AN: I suppose everyone is wondering where I've been. Truth be told I had this chapter typed out a week or so after my last update. Then on a Friday afternoon I get a call from my mother that my grandfather's house was on fire. I rushed to my childhood home and was shocked to see 90% of the house was gone, with everything in it. I wanted to know what ambulance to go to because I was sure grandpa would be terrified and as his favorite grandchild I needed to comfort him. Then somebody informed me that he never left the house. That he thought he could fight the fire... I, along with the rest of my large family, stood outside in 30 degree weather for at least 8 hours before the firefighters found his body.
It was easily the worst day of my life.
Then a few days after the funeral as my cousin was digging through the debris he found a body part. With the help of some more cousins and my father they were able to find quite a bit of my dear grandfather's body. The worst part? We had never been told that he was not whole when we buried him. Three weeks after the first funeral we had another small one so that his found remains could be reunited with the rest of him alongside my grandmother.
I spiraled into a deep depression and while busy with school, lets just say I did a lot of drinking. I stopped reading, writing, working out, sewing.. a lot of things.
I do not know when my next update will be. I wrote this chapter( along with a one shot that I'll soon post) before the fire. I have not read this chapter in many weeks and I hope that when I wrote it I was satisfied with it. If it is not up to par then I apologize, and eventually I will go back and fix it. I just wanted to finally update because this story was doing so well and I was proud of it. I hope you all enjoy this chapter! Although the next one has not been started I still have my layout for this story so that will help me get back on track. Enjoy!

"Kagome," Koga stood there clutching a bouquet of flowers in his hands. He had an apologetic look on his face. "Can we talk?"

Kagome's eyes never left Koga's as she told Kenichi to go to his room. Her voice held no room for argument and the boy did exactly as he was told. Only when she heard the click of his door, did she speak.

"What are you doing here?"

"I know you're upset." He took a step in. "Just let me talk to you for a minute."

"We have nothing to talk about, Koga." She stepped in his way, blocking him from entering any further.

"I miss you, Kagome." He wrapped his arms around her. "I shouldn't have been such an ass. I just didn't want you to leave, I was so jealous. I shouldn't have been but who could blame me?"

"Koga," she raised her hands and placed them on his chest to push away from him, but his strong arms didn't budge.

He ignored her obvious signs of discomfort. "Kagome I still love you. Please take me back."

"That's not an option." She finally found the strength to shove him away. "I'm with Sesshomaru now," she told him, her words like venom.

Koga visibly stiffened. He lowered his head, his bangs covered his eyes. "I should have known. How long after our break up did it take for you to get with him?"

"It wasn't like that," she told him, defending her honor. She didn't want him to twist things around to make it seem like he was right and that she had intentionally gone out there to be with Sesshomaru. Things just happened like that, but she never intended for it.

"You know what? Its fine, I forgive you," he said, still refusing to look at her. "We can still make it work." He was determined.

"No, Koga. I just told you, I'm with Sesshomaru."

"Then where is he?" he asked indignantly. "On the other side of the country still?"

"It doesn't matter," she told him, "and it's none of your business."

"He can't be there for you like I can."

"Koga," she tried to get him to stop talking but he ignored her.

"You don't have to work, I'll take care of you financially just like he does and I'll be here for you twenty four seven whenever you need me."

"Stop Koga," her plea fell on deaf ears.

"I'll do anything Kagome. Leave him and be with me. I'll help you with Kenichi and we can start our own family together. You'll never have to do it alone with me."

"Koga," she tried getting his attention, but instead he pulled her in for a kiss.

Her mouth opened in shock and he took it as an opportunity to sneak his tongue inside.

She pulled herself away and raised her right hand. The smack rang through the area.

"Koga!" She finally had his attention, and now she was pissed "Don't touch me!"

He stared at her, dumbfounded. The smack hurt him more emotionally than physically. "But Kagome," this time it was his turn to be interrupted.

"Leave, Koga." She glared and wiped her lips with her arm. "We're over."

"Please," he was ready to beg.

"No," she held her hand up. "You broke up with me," she reminded him. "You threw our good relationship away and lost your chance."

"Give me one more!" he dropped down on his knees, throwing the flowers to the ground and taking her hands in his. "Kagome, you're my girl." He was in denial.

"Not anymore, Koga," she ripped her hands out of his. "I'm happy with Sesshomaru."

"But I love you!" He stood up, trying to talk some sense into her.

"Please Koga," she said quietly. His words hurt. A few weeks ago she would have done anything to hear him say those words. Now, they were like a knife through her heart. "Leave." She watched him stand up.

"The fact is that I'm here and he's not." Koga said confidently. "One of these days you're gonna get sick of being by yourself."

Kagome rolled her eyes. Sure, she wished she wasn't in a long distance relationship, but they talked all the time and they got closer every day. She was ready for Koga to leave; he had no idea what he was talking about.

"You know where to find me," he bent over and picked up the discarded flowers. "Maybe when you're ready, I'll give you another chance. These are for you."

He thrust the bouquet into her chest so she had no choice but to take them. Without waiting for her to respond, Koga turned on his heel and walked out of the doorway.

Kagome held the flowers in her hands as she stared at the empty space in front of her. Was he serious? He might give her another chance! She shook her head and moved to close and lock the door. She had to give it to him, Koga sure was cocky, and oh boy, did he have some nerve.

"At least I know he doesn't hate me," she mumbled as she moved to the kitchen, placing the flowers on the counter by the sink, debating on what to do with them. She certainly didn't want to put them on display, because that would be like promoting his intentions, but she didn't want to throw away perfectly good flowers because that was just wrong.

'I guess I could give them to Mrs. Orida,' she thought of her elderly neighbor. "Yeah," Kagome perked up. "She'll love them." The old woman had only a few family members left and none of them visited her very often. Kagome decided that she would go next door for a little bit with Kenichi. Mrs. Orida loved the small child. He wasn't a big fan since she liked to pinch his cheeks, but she always had candies to give him and he enjoyed that.

Remembering exactly what Kenichi did wrong that day, Kagome felt a scowl set on her face. She made her way towards her son's room. Somebody was about to get a stern lecture on the rules about opening the front door.

She also had to make a mental not to tell Sesshomaru about Koga's visit. She didn't want Kenichi to mention it and have it look like she was hiding anything. Sesshomaru had previously mentioned his concerns about Koga trying to win her back. He would, no doubt, be upset but at least she handled it. Hopefully there wouldn't be any more appearances and the couple could be in peace.

Kagome lowered the volume of the television as she called Sesshomaru. "I've got good news and bad news," Kagome said after they exchanged a bit of small talk. "The good news is I started my period." She paused for effect, hearing Sesshomaru let out a breath.

"That is good," he agreed, feeling like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He had tried his best to abstain from thought but it had definitely affected him. Just the idea of it had him riddled with anxiety as he waited to hear if she would be late or not.

"I know, I couldn't handle another kid," she vented, not realizing that he could have taken her words the wrong way.

"I would have helped," Sesshomaru defended, feeling a bit insulted. It wouldn't be nearly as hard with him around. Sure he had no idea what he would do concerning their living arrangements and everything else. He didn't know anything about babies; but if the worst case scenario actually happened, he would try his damn best to do everything he could to be the best father to that child.

"I know you would," she told him. "I'm not saying that you wouldn't. Just that parenting is tough, and I'm glad I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to feed a screaming baby."

"I see. So what would the bad news be?"

Kagome groaned before answering. "My cramps are really bad."

"I didn't need to know that," he said flatly. Yes, they'd grown closer but he didn't think he'd ever be ready for things like that. "I'd rather you never mention such things again."

"Oh shush," she rolled her eyes. "I pushed your child out of my vagina," she told him matter-of-factly.

"That has nothing to do with anything."

"Yes it does," she argued playfully. "It has everything to do with everything. I can say what I want."

"Hn," he found her amusing. "Alright, Kagome."

"Okay, Sesshomaru," she teased.

"I have some news for you as well," he said, piquing her interest.

"Really?" she asked curiously.

"I was speaking to my parents today and they had the most interesting proposition for you," he began.

"Go on," Kagome said as she sat up straight. She wondered what the Takahashi's were up to.

"As you're aware, they pay someone to come to the house to do periodic cleaning while unoccupied. They'd like to offer you the job instead. You and Kenichi would move in and all you have to do is keep it clean." His parents brought up the idea that morning, Sesshomaru found no fault with it.

"You're not serious," her eyes were wide. She couldn't believe it.

"I am."

"I," she started, "I don't know." Her shoulders slumped. "I don't want to be like a charity case to you guys."

"Then don't take it like that. It saves them from paying someone to clean it, and it'll save me the pocket change of your rent."

"Mhmm." Kagome rolled her eyes at his jab.

"I don't know why you would say no," he said.

"What if I like my apartment?" she asked stubbornly.

"You would pick that tiny apartment over my parents' huge house?" he asked incredulously.

"Maybe," she said stubbornly. Just because her apartment was small didn't mean it was any less good. She had lived there for a couple years and it was her home. She and Sango picked it out themselves, she liked it there.

"Then I will tell them you declined," he said, his voice not hiding his disappointment.

"I can't think about it?" she quickly asked. Just because she liked her place and had some things to consider didn't mean she wanted to just pass the opportunity up. She just needed a minute to seriously think about it. How could he expect her to make such a big decision on the spot?

"Of course you can," he chuckled lightly, "I just took your answer as a no. Decide whenever you wish. The offer will always be on the table."

She liked that they put the cards in her hands. She began to feel a bit more comfortable with the idea. "If I said yes, which room would I sleep in?" she asked, curiously.

"Mine of course," he answered quickly. "Kenichi can have any of the guest rooms. You can do whatever you want. Paint it, new carpet, anything." Then he quickly added, "To his and my room only."

"Well, duh," she laughed, "I'm not gonna go and redecorate their whole house!"

"So is that a yes?"

"No," she told him. "I still have to think about it," she insisted. As much as she liked the idea of living there, it wouldn't be hers, it would be someone else's. Although, having such a nice home would be great for Kenichi to run around and play in. Plus she did enjoy the idea of not having Sesshomaru responsible for her rent. She really had a lot to consider.

"Whatever," he brushed her off. "I'm telling them yes." He knew she would say yes eventually.

"Sesshomaru!"

Sesshomaru and Toga were in the gym closing up.

"You did well today, Sesshomaru. Everything alright now?"

Sesshomaru's brows scrunched forward for a moment. "Everything is fine, father."

"You've been off lately," Toga explained. "Today was the first day in weeks you seemed back to yourself."

"Is that so?" Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed into slits. He felt insulted that his skills were put into question.

Sesshomaru's anger did not faze his father. "Ever since Kagome and Kenichi left you haven't been yourself. You've been unfocused, slower, and sloppier."

Sesshomaru growled as his father continued.

"I'm not saying this to insult you, son. I pay attention to every detail. That is why we have been so successful."

"Hn," he tried to control himself. "Was there a point to this?" If he was back to normal than mentioning anything was pointless.

"I didn't want to say anything at first. I hoped that whatever was going on would work itself out and that you'd get your head straight again. Obviously I was right."

"Good to know," he said flatly.

"Things are different when you have a family. Do not let your personal life affect your work life."

Sesshomaru gave a curt nod. "I understand," he told his sire. He felt upset with himself for getting so distracted and slacking. He would take his father's words to heart. He cared very much for Kagome, and he loved Kenichi but this was his dream. He was a champion. This was what he worked so hard for; it was all he ever really wanted. There never was, nor will there ever be anything that could make him happier.

"Good," Toga said while locking the door to the building. "Now, that were done with all that for the day," he was referring to MMA, "will you be coming over for dinner?"

"I'm not sure," he wanted some alone time to reflect on his performance the last few weeks.

The men walked towards the parking lot and to their separate cars parked a few spaces from each other.

"I hope you don't intend to go home and sulk," Toga said, knowing his eldest son too well.

Sesshomaru frowned. "I never sulk. I am not Inuyasha."

"You're brother does not sulk, he throws tantrums."

"Hn," Sesshomaru smirked. He was about to make another witty comment until his phone began to vibrate. He pulled it from his pocket to see Kagome and Kenichi's faces.

Toga noticed Sesshomaru's expression and smiled. "Think about dinner," he said quickly, "and give those two my love."

Sesshomaru nodded as he answered his phone and entered his car. He wondered just how his father knew who was calling him.

A couple long weeks passed and it was finally time for the small family to be reunited. Kagome and Kenichi were waiting on the edge of their seats at the airport. Sesshomaru would be flying in today!

Kagome fidgeted with her hair for the thousandth time. She had gone all out, wearing a super cute outfit consisting of a light blue tank top with a slightly sheer baby pink cardigan over it. She had on dark blue jean shorts and matching blue flats. She waited until the last minute to shave her legs so that the skin was perfectly smooth, even the cold air from the airport wouldn't affect them. Her hair had been curled into beachy waves and she wore just a little bit more eyeliner than usual. She wore a silver necklace with a small diamond pendant and matching earrings that Sesshomaru had bought and sent her a little over a week ago as a 'just because' gift.

"Mommy, you look pretty," Kenichi said, sensing her unease. He didn't understand why she was acting so strange; he knew something was off about her when she changed her outfit three different times that morning.

Kagome realized how nervous she was acting. She put her hands back in her lap and smiled at her child. "Thanks honey." She would try to abstain from touching her hair again and pulling out her compact to check her makeup.

"How much longer?" the boy whined. Usually he would be scolded for doing so but Kagome was just as eager to see Sesshomaru as he was.

"Soon," she answered, looking at her cell phone. His flight should be landing any time now, and then he had to pick up his bags and meet them. She couldn't wait. She missed him so much!

Kagome tried to distract herself by messing around with her phone. She didn't know how much time passed before her son jumped down and started yelling.

"Daddy!" Kenichi bolted towards the tall figure a distance away.

Kagome looked up and her heart melted. God, he was so handsome!

Sesshomaru held a grin, happy to finally see his child and picked the boy up, holding him in a tight hug. He carried his luggage and child over to the woman who seemed to not know what to do besides stand there with a starry eyed expression. He put their son down and turned to her.

"Sessho," she didn't get a chance to finish saying his name.

His hands grabbed her, one on each side of her neck, and pulled her towards him for a rough kiss. She instantly wrapped her arms around his neck and stood on her tippy toes. Sesshomaru let his hands wander down her form until they landed on her bottom. He gave her a squeeze and pulled her flush against him.

All the built up sexual frustration began to take its toll. Sexting, and phone sex just weren't enough compared to the real thing, not for either of them. Sesshomaru had no control of the muscle suddenly pressing against his jeans.

Her nails dug into his shoulders as she instantly became turned on. Her imagination had nothing on the lean form in her arms and she knew that he wanted her just as badly. Unfortunately, they were at the airport with their son a few feet away. That was when he chose to break apart. Her eyes were closed and her lips were parted when he whispered in her ear.

"Later," he told her smugly; glad to know that she was even more affected than he was.

His teasing tone made Kagome remember where they were. "Whatever," she quipped back, failing at trying not to blush.

Warmth radiated from Sesshomaru's eyes as he looked her over. "It is good to see you."

She smiled at his kind words. "I missed you," she admitted, her own eyes watering as she felt happy tears threaten to spill. It was so good to have him there! Just being in his presence brought a change in her heart. She was so happy with him around.

"Hn," he smirked, feeling a boost in his ego. It felt good to know he was missed. He wasn't a touchy feely guy but he felt the same way, and she was his lady, so he told her, "I missed you too."
