Last Time on Naruto: Burning Ice
Hannah glared at him for a few more seconds, before her attitude to a major 180o flip. All the flames vanished as she grabbed onto his slightly trembling arm, a large smile on her face with her eyes shining.
"Aw, aren't you just the sweetest. Let's go then."
And with that she released the traumatized boy and skipped off, humming to herself. Letting out a sigh of relief, he glanced at his starter.
"Talk about bipolar, huh?"
"Sni vy."
"HURRY UP!"
Jumping slightly, Naruto ran off in the direction that Hannah had moved in. Snivy curled up in his hood. As he ran, he glanced up at the sky, his foxy grin on his face.
"Here we go then."
Chapter 6: A Familiar Face! Rival Battle!
"Holy shit, this place stinks!"
SMACK
"Dammit Naruto, you shouldn't say things like that!"
"Sweet Arceus, Hannah. I think my skull actually cracked this time!"
"I was wrong, she hits harder than Sakura ever did."
A grumbling blonde rubbed the back of his head, glaring at his brunette companion. It seemed that despite being in a new world, every female he became friends with were destined to become physically abusive when it came to him.
"Anyway, what did you expect a city that is renowned for its poison-type Pokémon to smell like?"
"Geez I don't know, maybe something better than rotting faeces!" He cried, flailing his hands wildly. Less than a second later, a small vine slapped his left cheek while a barrage of tiny flames slammed into his right cheek.
"OW! What the-"
Turning, he was met by the twin glares of his starter and his former tenant.
"Do that again, and face my wrath brat!" Kurama snarled, his crimson eyes boring into Naruto's cerulean orbs. Smirking, the blonde merely returned the glare.
"I'd listen to you, but I can't take you seriously in that body."
"Naruto-" began Kurama, only to be cut off by the sound of an explosion to their left. Glancing to his female companion, Naruto took off at a sprint towards the location of the disruption, Hannah in close pursuit.
"Stupid hero complex." Muttered Kurama, digging his tiny claws into Naruto's shoulder.
"Sniv." Agreed the grass-type.
Naruto, ignoring his two passengers, continued his sprint as they neared an industrial looking location. To his concern, there was a plume of black smoke billowing from the heart of the complex.
As the ex-ninja neared the sight of the 'explosion', Naruto's eyes narrowed as he took in a familiar figure.
"Nate?"
At the call of his name, the visor-wearing trainer turned and grinned as he noticed his fellow trainer.
"Naruto!" He waved, clipping a shrunken Pokéball to his belt as he made his way over to the orange trainer. "How's it going?"
"Doing well, got a badge already." Naruto shrugged, before gesturing at Hannah. "This is my friend, Hannah Ryder. Hannah this is Nate..."
"Noir. Nate Noir." Grinned the brunette trainer, offering his hand to the girl. She took it, a small blush dusting her cheeks. Naruto frowned.
"So Nate, mind telling us what caused that explosion?"
"That was my bad; I was training my team for the next gym."
A gleam filled Naruto's eyes as he took a look at Nate's belt, his shrunken Pokéballs glinting in their holders.
"How many Pokémon do you have so far?" He asked, his eyes twinkling with mischief. Nate stared at him confused for a second, before a challenging smile crossed his lips.
"Three, yourself?" Naruto smirked as he held up three digits, noticing a small stretch of blank land down near a small pool of water.
"Fancy a challenge? Three-on-three, no subs."
"You're on!"
"NATE!"
"Crap." Nate muttered as he turned to face an irate blonde teen "H-hey Sarah. What's up?"
A teenage girl could be seen storming towards the trio, furious purple eyes glaring at Nate in anger. She looked to be of similar age to the three trainers, and wore a thin, pale green hooded unzipped cardigan; a white t-shirt; cream thigh-high cargo shorts; with ankle socks and black sneakers. A grey and silver messenger bag swung at her side as she stomped towards them.
"What did I say about running off without a word! I mean, honestly, what if something-who's this?"
It was at that point she had noticed Naruto and Hannah, who watched the girl with fear (Naruto) and confusion (Hannah) shining in their eyes.
"Sarah, this is Naruto Uzumaki and Hannah Rider. This is my friend Sarah Graham. Her mother is friends with my father, who asked me to help her out since she came all the way from Johto to start her journey."
"Really?" asked Hannah, curiosity gleaming in her eyes as she took in the new arrival "I've always wanted to go to Johto, what's it like?"
"Oh, it's just beautiful. The majority of the cities and towns all have this charming and traditional feel to them. My hometown, Mahogany Town, especially has this beautiful rural feel." Sarah gushed, her previous anger vanishing as the topic of her home region came up. "Oh, this is my starter from Johto. She pulled out a shrunken Pokéball, enlarged it, and pushed the release button.
"C'mon out Blossom!"
In a flash of light, a small pale green Pokémon stood before them. It was of similar height to Kurama, with four legs and large dark brown eyes. A large leaf protruded from its head, shaking slightly as it looked up at the four teams.
"Chika!" chirped the new Pokémon.
Hannah squealed in delight at the new Pokémon, while Naruto whipped out his Dex and aimed it at the new arrival.
"Chikorita. The Leaf Pokémon. In battle, Chikorita waves its leaf around to keep the foe at bay. However, a sweet fragrance also wafts from the leaf, becalming the battling Pokémon and creating a cozy, friendly atmosphere all around."
"So that's the grass starter of Johto." Muttered Naruto, watching as Sarah lifted Blossom the Chikorita into her arms, turning back to the Hannah.
As Sarah began to discuss the finer aspects of life in Johto, all the while stroking Blossom's head, Nate gestured to the empty space he had pointed out.
"Wanna get this started" He asked, glancing to the blonde haired male, who gave him an incredulous look.
"Without telling them?" muttered Naruto, looking at the two girls discreetly. "Wasn't she mad at you for leaving her just a few seconds ago?"
Nate paled as the thought of Sarah's previous 'anger episodes' came to the forefront of his mind.
"Fair point." Nate conceded, staring at his childhood friend in fear. As though sensing his emotions, Sarah glanced over at the two boys and grinned before turning back to a gushing Hannah.
"Yeah...were gonna be here a while." Naruto deadpanned, only to be forced to duck as Hannah tossed a small rock at his head, all the while not once breaking conversation.
Nate sniggered at the ex-shinobi's predicament.

On either end of the makeshift battlefield, both trainers grinned in eager anticipation. A small crowd had gathered nearby, excited mutterings emanated from the chattering trainers, although how news of the battle had spread to quickly they had no idea, while the two girls stood to the side. Both conversing about the different regions, all the while keeping an eye on the upcoming battle.
"How about we both go on the count of three?" Naruto suggested to the brunette trainer, he had recalled both Snivy and Kurama in an attempt to keep their selection a secret.
"Sure, let's do this!"

Both trainers hand flew to their belts and plucked a shrunken Pokéball from its clip.

Both trainers then clicked the centre button, allowing the capsule to grow to its full size.

Both Pokéballs were hurled into the air, only for the two orbs to snap open and release their inhabitant in a flash of blazing white energy.
"Go Thunder/Riolu!"
The familiar blue canine form of Naruto's fighting type materialised on the field in front of him in a ready battle stance. At the same time, a small yellow and black Pokémon appeared on Nate's side of the field. The Pokémon had a rounded body with two black stripes that circled its torso led to a black bolt insignia on its chest. Two thick antennas protruded from the top of its head. Two thick, stubby arms crackled with electrical energy with two black bands around its forearms and three small fingers flexed in anticipation.
"Thunder, who's that?" Naruto muttered, pulling out his Pokédex and aimed it at the new Pokémon.
"Elekid. The Electric Pokémon. Elekid stores electricity in its body. If it touches metal and accidentally discharges all its built-up electricity, this Pokémon begins swinging its arms in circles to recharge itself. This Elekid is Level: 15 and is Female."
"Ok, let's get wild!" Naruto grinned, stuffing his Pokédex back in his pocket, an action that Nate mirrored.
"Thunder, start off with a Shockwave!"
"Ele-" Began the electric-type, electricity building between her large antennas, before firing its attack with a loud cry of "KID!"
"Crap! Riolu, Endure into a Counter attack."
"Riolu!" Growled the Emanation Pokémon as a red aura flashed briefly over his small body, just in time as the surge of electrical energy slammed into the fighting-type.
Growling, Riolu flew forward with glowing white hands before laying a wicked uppercut into Elekid's round midsection.
"Kid!" Cried the electric-type, flying backwards after the powerful strike. However, Riolu suddenly let out a growl of pain as small electrical charges flared across his azure body.
"Riolu! What happened?" Asked Naruto, staring in concern at the Emanation Pokémon, who stumbled slightly as the sparks faded from view. Shaking his head, he stared back across the field to their opponent, who pushed themselves back to their feet.
"Elekid." growled the small electric-type, electricity flashing briefly between her stubby antennas as she glared at her foe, a scowl darkening her features.
"Riolu, Quick Attack let's go!"
The fighting-type darted across the field; only to fall to the ground as the sparks appeared once, criss-crossing Riolu's body.
"Dammit, what the hell is going on? How'd he get paralysis" Naruto growled, unable to do anything as Riolu's body twitched with each spark of electricity.
"Quick, it's paralyzed. Hit it with a Swift attack, Thunder!" Nate yelled, seeing a chance to take out the small fighting-type.
Elekid's arms shone a brilliant white, which then fired a barrage of glowing gold stars. The stars then proceeded to slam into the downed fighting-type, who let out a cry of pain.
"Riolu!" Naruto cried as he could do nothing but watch his Pokémon being battered from Elekid's attack. "Riolu, use Force Palm to try and get away!"
With a growl, Riolu's right paw shone with a bronze glow before the small azure Pokémon flashed across the field and slammed the glowing appendage into the electric-type's body.
"Ele!" Elekid cried as she flew back from the brutal blow, slowly rising to her feet and struggling to remain balanced. Across the field, Riolu panted harshly as he glared at his foe.
"Elekid/Riolu, you okay?" The two trainers asked in concern, the two Pokémon both gave small nods as they continued their staredown.
"Riolu, Quick Attack into a Force Palm if you can bud."
"Elekid, dodge it and use Shockwave again!"
The two Pokémon charged at each other, one with a glowing fist while to other sparked some serious electrical discharge. At the very last second, a shroud of sparks littered Riolu's body, causing the fighting-type's attack to falter.
A cloud of dust was hurled into the air as a result of both Pokémon colliding violently. Both trainers and the crowd watching were forced to cover their eyes as they were buffeted by the dust cloud.
"Riolu/Thunder!"
All eyes watched the dust begin to settle, two sets filled with both concern and hope. As the dust nearly settled, it could be seen just who the victor was.
"Riolu!"
Naruto ran across the field and picked up his unconscious Pokémon, the swirls of his eyes letting everyone know that he had been unable to remain conscious. Giving the unconscious fighting-type a small smile, Naruto pulled out his Pokéball.
"Take a good long rest buddy."
A red beam shot from the centre of the capsule, absorbing Riolu in a glow of red energy.
Returning to his position on the field, Naruto pulled out another Pokéball: a Premier Ball to be exact.
"Kurama, battle stance!"
In a blaze of white energy, the Biju-turned-Pokémon appeared with a roar that, despite its small size, sent shivers down everyone's spine.
"What kinda Pokémon is that?" Nate asked, fishing his own Pokédex from his pants pocket. Aiming the device at Kurama, he flicked the scanner button located on the box's side.
"Fennekin. The Fox Pokémon. As it walks, it munches on a twig in place of a snack. It intimidates opponents by puffing hot air out of its ears. This Pokémon is the fire-type starter issued to new trainers in the Kalos region." A robotic voice issued from the Dex's speaker.
"Kalos region, never heard of it." Nate muttered, eyeing the small fire-type wearily. He couldn't help but feel nervous over the new Pokémon's unknown abilities, that and Elekid's current condition. Nate was snapped out of his musings as Naruto's voice broke through the veil of his thoughts.
"Kurama, Flame Charge let's go!" Naruto barked, pointing at the weakened Elekid opposite them. With a bark of ferocity, Kurama dashed across the field all the while enveloped in a cloak of crimson flames.
"Thunder, get out of there!" Nate yelled, not at all expecting the burst of speed from the tiny fire-type. The command came too late though, as Kurama slammed harshly into Elekid's midsection. With a cry of pain, Elekid flew back and slammed into the ground at Nate's feet. From the swirl-shaped eyes, it was clear that Nate's electric-type was finished.
"Damn, Thunder return." Nate murmured, returning the unconscious Pokémon to its Pokéball. Replacing it back on his belt, he quickly grabbed a slightly scuffed looking Pokéball and enlarged it.
"Go Nitro!"
Snapping open, the Pokéball released a burst of white energy-like light, which soon vanished to reveal Nate's new Pokémon. It was a black and orange pig-like Pokémon with a red orb on its tail and yellow spot between its eyes, which narrowed as it took in the appearance of its fellow starter.
"So that's your Tepig, okay let's get this going."
"Nitro, Ember now!"
"Kurama, counter with your own Ember attack!"
Both fire-types took a deep breath before firing small bullet-like projectiles of fire at their opponent. The twin fire storms clashed in the centre of the battlefield, causing an explosion of dirt and dust to be kicked up into the air.
"Kurama, use Flame Charge on Nitro!"
Once again, the Kalos fire starter darted across the field in a cloak of crimson flames. However, Nate now knew what to expect of the foreign Pokémon.
"Nitro, block him with your own Flame Charge!"
With a squeak of "Pig", Tepig sprinted towards the incoming Kurama, a cloak of burning orange flames covering its small body. Once again, despite Kurama's raised speed, both attacks clashed into a violent head butt. Both fire-types pushed against the other, neither giving nor gaining ground on the other.
"Come on Nitro, hang in their buddy!"
"Hang in their Kurama; I know you can do it."
Encouraged by their trainers, both Pokémon upped the strength of their attacks. Fortunately, depending on the side, Tepig had a higher attack stat than Kurama. This resulted in Naruto's Pokémon being flung back, unable to keep up against Tepig's assault.
"Kurama!" Naruto yelped, shocked at the sudden shift in battle. Shaking his head, the Fox Pokémon looked back at his trainer and grinned. It seemed as though Kurama had found someone that gave him a challenge.
"Alright bud, use Howl before switching into a Scratch!"
A blood-curdling howl erupted from the small fire-type, before it flashed across the field in a burst of pure speed.
"Nitro, use Ember quick!" Nate called out, startled at the opposing Pokémon's sudden recovery. The Fire Pig Pokémon quickly fired of a cloud of burning embers at the incoming Kurama, but the attack had little affect being a fire-type move. Thanks to Howl raising his attack stat, Kurama's Tackled dealt a higher amount of damage than usual, sending Tepig rolling across the battlefield.
"Nitro, try and use Defence Curl if you can bud."
Grunting, Tepig curled its body into a perfect ball as a ghostly blue aura shimmered across its flesh before quickly vanishing. Unravelling, the Unova fire starter glared at its Kalos counterpart and snorted flames from its snout. Growling, Kurama allowed let out a bark of challenge, embers flying from his mouth. Both Pokémon panted as a burning red aura began to shimmer around their small frames.
"What's going on?" asked Nate, confusion and concern filling his features. Naruto pulled out his Pokédex and aimed it at the two fire-types.
"Blaze. This ability is most commonly found in fire-type Pokémon. After using two-thirds of their energy, the Pokémon receives a small boost to fire-type attacks. The Pokémon who have the Blaze ability are: The Charmander evolution line, the Cyndaquil evolution line, the Chimchar evolution line, the Tepig evolution line, the Pansear evolution line (In this case a hidden ability), and the Fennekin evolution line."
At this, both Naruto and Nate stared in wonder at their Pokémon, amazed at such an ability. A grin soon spread over the lips as they stared across the battlefield.
"Kurama, let's get wild..."
"Nitro, lets finish this..."
"Flame Charge!" yelled the two trainers, causing the two fire-type starters to dash forward, their familiar cloaks of flames covering their bodies.
"Tepig!"
"Its over!"
Both Pokémon clashed in a blaze flames, causing an explosion at the point of impact and kicking up a major dust cloud.
"Kurama/Nitro!"

Unbeknownst to the battling pair or their onlookers, a shadow could be seen watching the two from a tree. Watching, in particular, the blonde male. Shaking his long silver hair from his coal black eyes, the watcher raised a small device to his lips.
"Target is currently in battle, my lord." He murmured, his voice gravelly from lack of use. "From the looks of it, both him and the brunette trainer from the ranch, are evenly matched in power. Power that is unusually high for one of their rank."
"That was said about the previous two last time." Came a cold, emotionless voice from the device. "Make sure to keep an eye on both and alert me to any new developments in their progress. If they are to become a problem like the last time, I don't want any nasty surprises."
"Yes, my lord."

"Nitro/Kurama!"
Both trainers scrambled towards their downed Pokémon, both having collapsed as a result of the clash of attacks. Lifting the panting pair into their arms, the two boys looked to each other.
"Draw?" asked Nate, reaching for Tepig's Pokéball. Nodding, Naruto enlarged Kurama's Premier Ball and returned his former tenant to his capsule. Both trainers shrunk their Pokéballs and returned them to their belts.
"Last one or call it a tie?" asked Naruto, plucking Snivy's Pokéball from his belt and lightly tossing it up and down in his hand. Glancing to the crowd around them, Nate grinned at his fellow trainer.
"We've given them quite a show, why not finish it off? Plus, I must admit this battle is awesome, I've never been pushed so hard. What do you say, one last round?"
Naruto stared at him, eyes narrowed in thought before a foxy grin split his lips.
"One last round."
Grinning, both trainers returned to their respective areas and enlarged their final Pokéballs.
"Let's rock/C'mon out!"
Both trainers hurled their Pokéballs into the air, causing them to burst open and release their occupant. Materialising onto Naruto's field was Snivy, who immediately sunk down into a battle-ready pose, while on Nate's side a familiar Pokémon materialised from the light.
"You've got a Riolu too?" asked Naruto, staring at the familiar blue canine-like Pokémon currently glaring down his Snivy.
"Yeah, I caught Jackal here back in Floccesy after the whole Plasma incident."
Both Pokémon glared at each, neither willing to back down and blink. A tense silence filled the battlefield as both trainer and Pokémon eyed their opponent, waiting to see who would crack first.
Naturally Naruto couldn't remain patient forever.
"Snivy, use Grass Tornado on Jackal now!"
With a burst of speed, Snivy rapidly created a cyclone of dust and razor-sharp glowing leaves and hurled it at the opposing fighting-type.
"Jackal, use Quick Attack to dodge it!"
Riolu darted to the side, a glowing white stream behind him. Unfortunately, Riolu wasn't fast enough as Snivy's attack nicked his side, causing the Emanation Pokémon to let out a growl of pain as he stumbled from the blow.
"Huh, Jackal reacted kinda strong to that attack despite it barely hitting them. While Snivy has good Special Attack, it's not that good. Unless..."
"Unless he has a low Special Defence!" Naruto realised, grinning as an idea formed in his mind. "Snivy use Growth to boost yourself, and use Quick Attack to dodge Jackal's attacks!"
Nodding, the Unova grass starter began to glow with a forest-green aura as it raised its Special Attack. Realising Naruto's plan, Nate reacted.
"Jackal, Quick Attack on Snivy. Stop her from powering herself up!"
With a bark of "Rio", the fighting-type Pokémon darted forward with a burst of speed, white energy streaming behind him, towards the immobile grass-type. At least, it was immobile.
"Snivy, now!" yelled Naruto, eyeing the incoming Riolu wearily.
Snapping her auburn eyes open, Snivy zipped to the side in a flash of pale green light. Stumbling, Riolu was barely able to come to a stop, however this is what Naruto wanted.
"Grass Tornado now Snivy!"
Once again, Snivy created a twister of dirt, dust and razor-sharp energy leaves. This time however, thanks to Growth, the leaves shone brighter due to the increase in power.
Riolu had no time to react before he was trapped inside the grass-type attack, constantly being buffeted by the multiple energy leaves caught up in the whirlwind.
"Damn, Jackal!" cried Nate, worried about the damage his Pokémon was receiving from their opponent. Desperately, the brunette male racked his brain, before he struck upon an idea.
"Jackal, Counter now!"
"Oh shit." Muttered Naruto, as Riolu's fist shone with murky brown energy. With a cry of his specie's name, Riolu burst from the twisting cyclone and laid a wicked punch into Snivy's face, sending her flying backwards due to the power within the attack.
"SNIVY!" Yelled Naruto, both shocked at the sudden change of events and at the power within the Counter and he was worried over Snivy's condition. Currently his starter Pokémon lay on the ground, struggling to get back to her feet.
Both Nate and Riolu watched the downed grass-type, unsure whether or not she would rise up or not.
"C'mon Snivy," Naruto murmured, staring his first Pokémon in her auburn eyes. "You can do this, we've been with each other long enough that I know you can beat this guy. C'mon, I will always believe in you and I know this is not the end of you. Now please, let's finis-"
He was interrupted by a sudden blinding light that encompassed his starters down form; her silhouette could barely be seen against the harsh light.
"No way!" cried Nate, staring in both shock and wonder at the brilliant light. Both Sarah and Hannah broke from their conversation to stare at the light in amazement.
"Is she?" asked Sarah, while Hannah smiled at both Snivy and her trainer.
"Yes, she's-"
"-evolving." Muttered Naruto, watching in awe as his Pokémon's silhouette increased in size shortly before the light died down revealing...

"My Lord," the watcher began, is coal eyes staring at the evolved Pokémon in interest. "I have news?"
"Yes? What is it?"
"The boy's Snivy, it evolved."
"Interesting, just like his last time. Keep watching, and report anything else."
"Yes, my lord."

"Servine." murmured the newly-evolved Pokémon, eyeing her opponent with a look of lazy nonchalance. While not a drastic change, Snivy's evolution had brought some new changes to her body. Her body had lengthened, her snout had become much smoother and sleeker. A yellow crest had begun to grow on top of her head while yellow 'collar' had grown around her neck along with two new leaf-shaped 'spines' on her back.
"Servine, you evolved." whispered Naruto, eyeing his new Pokémon in awe and joy. Nate slowly pulled out his Pokédex, aiming it at the new Pokémon currently eyeing him and Riolu down.
"Servine. The Grass Snake Pokémon. It moves along the ground as if sliding. Its swift movements befuddle its foe, and it then attacks with a vine whip. Servine is currently Level 17 and knows the moves: Tackle, Leaf Tornado, Vine Whip and Growth."
Grinning, Naruto watched as Riolu backed away slightly at the sight of the now bigger Pokémon.
"Servine, use Vine Whip to pull Nitro towards you and then use Tackle!"
With a small smirk on her face, Naruto's starter fire to vines from its arms at an astounding speed. Taken aback at the Servine's new speed, Nate was too late to warn his own starter of the attack.
"Rio?" Cried Riolu as the vines wrapped around his body and dragged him forward, next thing he knew, Servine crashed into him at breakneck speed. Tepig was sent crashing back, rolling across the ground before settling at Nate's feet.
"Jackal!" Nate gasped as his beloved fighting-type struggled to get back on his feet. Servine stared at the pair coolly, waiting on a command from her trainer.
"It's over," murmured Naruto, staring at Tepig's defeated form. He frowned though when, weakly, Nate's Riolu pushed itself shakily to its feet.
"Stubborn little bugger, I'll give you that. Finish it Leaf Tornado, now!"
In a blink of an eye, Servine created a cyclone of dirt dust and sharp energy leaves. This time however, thanks to her evolution, Servine's attack was much bigger than last time. With a cry of "VINE!", Servine hurled her attack at her weakened opponent.
"C'mon Riolu, one last attack. Endure now!"
Just as Servine's attack struck, Riolu summoned a red aura around its body. Like the other attacks, the collision kicked up an explosion of dirt and dust. Both trainers were forced to cover their eyes as the dirt/dust cloud swarmed around them.
"Servine/Jackal!"
Both cries were unanswered as the cloud slowly began to die down. Slowly but surely, two silhouettes could be seen through the gloom of the dust: one unmoving and one barely standing.
Excited murmurings could be heard from the forgotten crowd, both trainers too absorbed in their battle to pay any attention to the onlookers. Hannah and Sarah stared worryingly at the silhouettes, and at the trainers.
"C'mon Servine, I know you got this." Naruto muttered, watching the settling dust cloud in anticipation. Nate too watched the silhouettes, trying to detail the differences, to decipher a winner.
As the dust finally settled, it was revealed that the winner of the battle was...
"Jackal!" Nate moaned as he stared at his unconscious Pokémon. Naruto, on the other hand cheered as he ran to the fatigued Servine, who give him a tired smile.
"Come on girl, you deserve a nice rest." He offered, retrieving Servine's Pokéball and aiming it at her. "Return."
In the familiar surge of crimson energy, Servine was sucked back into her Pokéball. An action that was copied by Nate, who returned his Pokémon to his belt. The crowd of watchers began to depart, snippets of conversation could be heard describing various points of the battle.
"Hey!"
Nate looked to Naruto, who offered his hand with a small smile. Returning the sentiment, the Unova-native gripped the blonde ex-shinobi's hand.
"That was a hell of a battle there Naruto, we better do that again."
"Of course, it does get boring battling the same kind of trainers over and over again." Naruto smirked.
"Hey guys!"
Both boys turned to see their respective companion, both girls having a large smile on their face.
"That was an amazing battle you two! Your Pokémon are powerful for new trainers." Sarah gasped, grinning at both teens. Both boys blushed at the praise.
"Thanks Sarah." Muttered Nate, who seemed quite pleased with himself. Naruto's attention was then pulled to Hannah, who looked quite excited.
"What's up Hannah?" He asked, confused at why she seemed so antsy. "You look like you're about to burst any second."
"Oh, I invited Sarah and Nate to join us after you both get your badges. I hope that's alright with you?" She asked, a small hint of worry in her eyes. Naruto just grinned his trademark foxy grin.
"That sounds awesome," He looked to Nate, who smirked back at him. "If you're up for it."
"Of course, Sarah and I would love to come with you guys. Sounds like f-"
RUMBLE
All eyes turned to Naruto, who clutched his stomach with a sheepish expression on his face.
"Heh, guess all that battling made me hungry."
"Naruto..." sighed Hannah, while Nate and Sarah laughed at their friend's embarrassed blush. All the while, completely unaware that they were all still being watched.

"So he already has followers then, this could work in our favour. Return to base and report all strategies and battle techniques this boy has shown. We must take all necessary precautions."
"Understood, I shall leave at once my Lord."

In a dark room, the silhouette of a large figure could be seen sitting upon a large thrown. A crimson sight could be seen roughly where a human eye could be seen.
"Hm, Naruto Uzumaki. What are these powers you possess, and why do you have them?"
The sound of a button being pressed could be heard, followed by a small monitor rising from the armrest of the throne. A picture of Naruto could be seen clearly on the small screen, the light illuminating the face of the figure.
Long green hair shrouded a pale face, a crimson eye piece gleaming sinisterly.
"No matter," the man snarled, a nasty smile playing at his lips as he stared down at the image of the grinning teen.
"You will not stop me achieving my goal: I will control the power of the Ice Dragon!"
AN: And, cut! There you go, a long chapter for a long break. A battle, new companions, an evolution and a glimpse into Team Plasma's plans. One thing that was a major difficulty concerning this chapter was the battle, as I wasn't sure how it flowed. Below are the current rosters of our hero and his companions.
