AN: I can not thank you guys enough for the kind words! Sorry for the lateness, it was a struggle to get Esme's words right. Just a heads up, we may have one more chapter with Me-Me and then we'll move on to kicking some Moma Bear a$$...
Disclaimer: I own nothing but a ticket to see 50 Shades tomorrow!
Unbeta'd so go easy on me...
That's What Little Girls Are Made Of...
Chapter One Thirty-Six
Esme POV
Being trapped here had only serve to confuse me even more. I could not for the life of me figure out what it was that Eleazar wanted from me.
Why not just request that Carlisle come alone? I constantly thought.
I would have never been the wiser. Granted, I would have gone to the ends of the earth to find my husband had he been in that airplane alone.
Unable to stop myself, I asked the monster himself one day when he stopped by to torture me.
"Why do you have me here?" I asked stoically, refusing to allow him to see just how much he was getting to me. "Why keep me locked away? Why not send for only Carlisle? Why was it so imperative that I accompany him on this trip? Just where do I fit into your little sick and twisted plan?"
Laughing maniacally, "Oh you foolish, foolish woman, you have everything to do with my plan."
Eleazar was then kind enough to inform me that all those years ago when Carlisle jumped ship, and refused to return to Alaska, he ruined his plans.
Now a marked man, Eleazar was more than just a little unhappy; he was downright infuriated. Unwilling to allow Carlisle to defy him any longer, he was determined to restore order and regain his place back at the helm of this twisted organization.
Let's just say that a lot of money had been lost and even more blood was shed when Eleazar couldn't hold up his end of the deal and produce his prodigal son. He needed a plan, and he needed one fast.
And that's where the Denali's came into the picture. Somehow Tanya's father was able to hold off the war until Eleazar could find a way to return Carlisle to the fold. And no one was happier than Tanya Denali to be reunited with her long, lost, unrequited love.
Turns out the old hag had been waiting around all this time, hoping that Eleazar would bring Carlisle back to her.
And this time, he would be made to love her or else...
Of course, all their plotting and planning went to shit when Carlisle fell in love with me.
Contrary to belief, Carlisle not returning wasn't the worst thing that could have happened.
No, leaving behind a jilted, hand-picked bride that he would never love was the most unforgivable and inexcusable thing that Carlisle could have ever done; it was like a proverbial slap to Eleazar's face. That unholy union was to bring the two most powerful families in Alaska together, making them even more powerful.
"So you see my dear sweet, Esme," Eleazar started in an eerily sweet voice. "You are my foolish boy's kryptonite, and I always like to stay ten steps ahead of my opponent." Slowly leaned in, leveling me with a look that made me shiver involuntarily. "I won't hesitate to destroy you right before his very eyes if he chooses to continue to defy me."
And now, I was the only thing standing in the way of that happening. Well me, my wonderful sister-in-law, Maggie, and all my sweet, stubborn, and beautiful children.
Well, now that I know you guys are still here... I'm dying to know what you all are thinking. Who saw 50 Shades this weekend? What did you guys think? And for all my FtLoD readers, I am currently in the process of finishing the next chapter. I think you all are going to be pleased with the new developments.
Thanks again for all the kind words and support.
See you tomorrow!
