They split up. Bella stole an abandoned car the moment she had crossed the Hudson, shoe-horning the large warriors into it. Loki was dropped by Tony on a rooftop where he had a great view of Stark Tower. A few moments later, Thor joined him. He was still sour from his own confrontation with the mortal of steel, and he didn't seem in the mood to chat. Neither was Loki who was simply glaring at the street below with an almost worried look on his face.
"What do you see?" he said it almost bitterly. He wasn't happy with the way Loki had torn strips off him in front of his own friends. At least he was thinking of the mission first.
"At the moment, I am more focused with how high I am from the ground," Loki admitted, "I hate heights."
Thor shrugged, "I am not too fond of them either."
Loki squinted at the tower for a moment before reaching inside his pocket. He pulled out a small, brass telescope and watched the street below. The soldiers seemed to be spreading out in a defensive perimeter. There were about five hundred of them in total, and that number, spreading in such a way could take out the east coast in a matter of days.
He tapped his earpiece, "Blue One to Blue Leader, five hundred bad guys. Seem to be spreading out to the banks of the Hudson. They're trying to take the island."
He got up from his crouch and wandered to the south west corner of the building, "no vehicles that I can see, but there's a small squad of about fifty or sixty heading for you."
"Yeah, B, they're heading right to you, fast. Flyby of tower in progress, out."
"Out," Loki repeated.
"What happened to you, Loki?" Thor questioned him, "you always used to follow my lead."
"I have grown up," Loki sneered, glaring through the telescope, "damn sixteenth century piece of-."
"Certainly," Thor said nothing else.
Loki's eyes widened. A small squad was attacking, not Bella, but civilians, children. He handed his brother the telescope, "I have to do something you can't do for me."
"Shit!" Bella yelled as she hit the brakes to avoid the bowman in the middle of the road. She swerved and the sedan screeched to a stop in the middle of the road. She mentioned for the others to get out of the car.
"What the fuck are you doing, Hawk? Do you really have the brains of a sparrow, or do you have a death wish?"
Hawkeye had suited up, with his lightweight carbon fiber bow and Batman Utility arrows and belt; he was ready for action, "stopping an invasion, what are you doing?"
"Same," Volstagg shrugged.
Hawk looked at Bella's strange company, "am I going nuts?"
"Gone, past tense," Bella replied, "come with us, I have been mediating between the brothers from hell for the past sixteen hours."
Hawkeye's whole demeanor changed, "what did he do?"
Bella knew immediately who he was talking about, "he's trying to help us stop this," she snapped, "now get in the car before we are-."
Volstagg cut her off, "surrounded."
