DISCLAIMER: I OWN NOTHING!

After a minute of searching, Dark Pit decided to tail Pit, who had just flew into the Chaos Vortex. Dark Pit kept as many enemies as he could off Pit, while making sure not to lose him. Pit found the Chaos Kin after a minute or two, but Dark Pit didn't bother to attack the bug. He knew that the Chaos Kin would try to get away if it was overwhelmed, and he intended to not let it get away. Sure enough, eventually the Chaos Kin played dead, making an illusion of itself falling, while it quickly flew away, creating monsters to fight Pit. Dark Pit had seen this easily. He supposed Pandora, who seemed to love trickery, from what he could tell from her memories, could see through illusions, and therefore he could too. Dark Pit weaved in and out of the chaos around him, while trying to move as fast as possible.

"Why won't you just give up!?" the humanoid form of the Chaos Kin yelled at Dark Pit, who appeared as a ghostly image in front of Dark Pit. Dark Pit ignored it and sped up, concentrating on not running into anything. "You WILL die, you know that right?"

"Not if I can help it," Dark Pit said, laughing. He finally caught up to

the bug, and he grabbed it by it's stinger, not daring to let go. He summoned his Silver Bow and slammed it into the Chaos Kin's back. The Chaos Kin shrieked in pain, and began to struggle to get Dark Pit off. He smirked and attempted to cut off one of it's wings. The slash hit, and the Chaos Kin began to fall. Dark Pit quickly activated the power of flight, and flew after it, shooting at it as fast as possible. The Chaos Kin shot back at Dark Pit. The ghostly humanoid Chaos Kin appeared now in the same space as the real one, so it was easier for Dark Pit to see when it was about to shoot. He decided to rush the Chaos Kin and soared right next to him, slashing at it, while the Chaos Kin parried with it's stinger. Dark Pit roared in anger and made one strong, fast slice, slashing the Chaos Kin across the face. The Chaos Kin shrieked, and let out a shock wave that pushed Dark Pit back.

"COME AND GET SOME!" Dark Pit yelled, flying straight at the Chaos Kin who quickly held up hit stinger to run straight through Dark Pit, using the angel's own momentum for the force. Dark Pit barely had to raise his blades to parry the stinger, and he fell past the bug. The Chaos Kin hit Dark Pit to the side, pushing him into a floating stone. Dark Pit groaned and got up. He saw Pit it his head, fighting off monsters. Dark Pit knew he couldn't take down the Chaos Kin, not now. Instead, he would help Pit. He quickly flew over to the arena Pit was fighting on.

"Looks like you could use a little help," he remarked, quickly attacking a nearby enemy.

"I can do this myself. And why are you suddenly so interested in

helping in me anyway?"

"While you were a ring, I was less than nothing. Unconscious. Un-MYSELF." Dark Pit said. NOTE: I didn't want to change anything that the characters said, but I knew that this made NO sense under the story I presented. So please, suspension of disbelief. Everything else works.

"We're connected, no you, no me. Two sides of the same coin."

"That's crazy! So that's why to help me save Lady Palutena!"

"OK then, let's take this enemies down!" They said together. They started to fight the monsters together.

"Team Baddy's putting up quite a fight," Viridi said. "But with the two of you together, it'll probably be a cakewalk."

"That goes without saying," Dark Pit said.

"So the Chaos Kin is copying Aurum Enemies that are copies of the forces of Nature," Pit said.

"It makes you think, doesn't it?" Viridi replied.

"No, not really, it's just weird," Pit said. They quickly dispatched the rest of the enemies. Dark Pit took a mental note that the white, cyber enemies were aurum troops. Eventually, the current horde of enemies were destroyed, giving Dark Pit a second to breathe.

"You know what time it is? It's time for the TENTH wave!" Virdi said as a large amount of enemies appeared.

"Let me at 'em!" Dark Pit said.

"Defeat that guttler first," Viridi noted, and Dark Pit quickly slashed at the purple monster. "Guttlers get more powerful the more they eat."

"Well, so do I," Pit said.

"They really don't have the most discriminating tastes. They'll eat anything." Viridi said as Dark Pit finished it off.

"Well, so does Pit," Dark Pit said as he turned on the other enemies.

"Hey! At least I don't eat my friends!" Pit retaliated. Dark Pit hunted

down the last remaining enemies, and quickly dispatched them.

"Here comes the eleventh wave!" Viridi said. "I can feel the Chaos Kin getting tired. Dark Pit seriously doubted the Chaos Kin was getting tired, but didn't voice his opinion. He was forced to focus on the battle for a few seconds, as a shot grazed his arm.

"That's it? No joke or snappy commentary?" Pit asked as Dark Pit listened in again.

"This is wave eleven, the time for jokes is over!" Dark Pit said. The battle went on, wave after wave. Dark Pit was beginning to tire, but kept it up. Finally, after the 13th wave, the Chaos Kin appeared. It burrowed up from under the ground, and screeched.

"Well look who decided to show up," Dark Pit said, readying his blades.

"It's game over Chaos Kin!" Pit yelled.

"Here! Let me help!" Viridi yelled, and made a force field around the arena. "There that should make things easier for you two."

"Thanks Viridi, you're always thinking!" Pit said.

"I set up an elctro trap in the center of the field," Viridi said. "It'll come in handy if you're having trouble keeping up with the Chaos Kin."

"Just like I said, you're always thinking!"

"Well, one of us has to." Viridi said, laughing. Dark Pit quickly shot at the Chaos Kin, attempting to lure it into the elecrto trap. Once again. he saw the ghostly image of the humanoid Chaos Kin in the same place of the bug. Dark Pit tried to step back and shoot it from afar, while Pit raced in and attacked it.

"You'll pay for what you've done, Chaos Kin!" Pit yelled, as he stabbed his Palutena Bow into it's wing.

"Eating souls is bad enough, but going after the soul of a goddess is just vile," Dark Pit said.

"Palutena resisted getting consumed for 3 have to hand it to her, she has a certain strength of will," Viridi said. "She was waiting for you to return Pit." Dark Pit remembered how he had been able to stop the Chaos Kin from taking over him after only a few seconds. He was surprised it was that hard for a goddess to resist. "I'm sure she used every last ounce of power to resist."

"She must have suffered so much," Pit said, attacking the Chaos Kin as it ran into the trap. Dark Pit followed, attacking it repeatedly.

"There's no point dwelling on this now," Dark Pit said. "We need to take down the Chaos Kin."
"You're right!" Pit agreed. Dark Pit shot at it again, attempting to finish it off with a shot to the face. The Chaos Kin swatted the shot away, broke free of the trap, and launched itself at Dark Pit. It was going insanely fast. Dark Pit couldn't dodge it. Suddenly, Pit appeared in front of Dark Pit, and stabbed at the Chaos Kin. The Chaos Kin was pushed back, it gave one last screech.

"Now that, was a rain of death," Pit said happily.

"Aw yeah!" Dark Pit agreed, punching into the air. The Chaos Kin exploded, the remains falling to the ground. Palutena's soul returened to the goddess, and Pit ran over to her. Dark Pit watched, smiling before looking back at the Chaos Kin's body. He had said one of them was going to die. Neither had. But Bellum had said that the Chaos Kin couldn't lie… What would happen if what it said WOULD happen? He turned away, preparing to fly. But suddenly the Chaos Kin's body twitched, and black energy slammed into Dark Pit, throwing him off the arena he screamed as he fell, watching as Pit jumped after him. He struggled against the energy, trying to break free.

"Help… me…" he managed, trying to reach for Pit.

Dark Pit was in a white room with the Humanoid Chaos Kin in front of him once again. The Chaos Kin was twitching his fingers.

"One of you will die!" The Chaos Kin screamed. "AND I CANNOT EXCEPT THAT ONE ISN'T YOU!" The Chaos Kin held out his hand and a sword appeared in it's hand. He swung it at Dark Pit, but, miraculously, Dark Pit could summon his silver bow now, and he did so, blocking the sword. Dark Pit took this chance and took a stab at the Chaos Kin.

"Neither of us will die if I can help it!" Dark Pit screamed, and slashed with his other blade. The Chaos Kin dodged the stab, but was hit easily by the slash.

"NO DIE ALREADY!" The Chaos Kin screamed, and stabbed at Dark Pit, who dodged and slashed with both blades at the same time, cutting in The Chaos Kin's chest.

"Come on!" Dark Pit said, almost laughing, "try a little harder!" He let out a barrage of strikes, The Chaos Kin was only able to block a few. The Chaos Kin wobbled on the ground, before regaining it's balance and letting out it's own barrage. Dark Pit managed to block most of the strikes, but one managed to hit his shoulder. Immediately, his shoulder started to sear in pain, and he fell to the ground, clutching the wound.

"It's a life draining sword," the Chaos Kin explained, "it's slowly destroying your soul, one more good hit should destroy it for good."

"What about you?" Dark Pit asked, standing up and trying to ignore the pain.

"No way you could kill me," the Chaos Kin said, "unless, of course, you manage to destroy my life force," it tapped it's chest."

"Sounds to me like a first strike dual," Dark Pit said. "Let's do it!" He pushed of the ground and activated the power of flight, flying straight at the Chaos Kin, holding his bow out, trying to gain enough speed to slam straight through it's chest. The Chaos Kin waited calmly, it's sword at the ready. Dark Pit willed himself faster, and faster, and faster... The Chaos Kin raised it's sword, ready to hit Dark Pit. He let out one last burst of speed, pushing the bow through The Chaos Kin's chest.

"No... not... possible," The Chaos Kin said, falling to the ground. And Dark Pit was back in the real world.

Pit grabbed Dark Pit, a green light appeared around them and they both were teleported away.

Dark Pit appeared outside the Chaos Vortex, at Palutena's temple.

"How's Pit?" he asked, getting up.

"Pit… Pit's in bad shape," Viridi said sadly. "He can't fly, he's barely breathing. Dark Pit watched as Palutena picked Pit up. He groaned and almost fell to the ground. Pit had saved him. Dark Pit tried to activate the power of flight, but he was too weak. Dark Pit gave Pit a silent thank you. And he silently promised he would save him, if he could.

How was it? Sorry for being SO LATE. I actually planned to upload last Sunday, but it was missing the fight scene between Dark Pit and the Humanoid Chaos Kin, so it was really anti-climatic, at least to me. Next chapter, scorched feathers, will be much like this one, essentially a retelling of the video game with the non-boss fight scenes summarized in a sentence. I PROMISE the 3 after that will be better, because everything that happens with Dark Pit in the last 3 chapters can be extremely loose. I'll also try to get them out ON TIME. More importantly, if you see any errors, send em' my way! Review! Give me some constructive criticism or yell at me for being so late. Anything really.
