22ND STREET 1532

The bright red beam of light hit a point halfway up in the sky and rip the universe a new one. There was a heightened sense of urgency at the frayed corners of the universe glowed reddish pink. Bella gritted her teeth as she stopped for a moment and looked up at the sky.

"Shit," Bella hissed, "Tony!" she yelled, "where the fuck are those schematics?" no answer, "how do we turn that thing off?"

"Why are you looking at me?" Hawkeye snapped at her.

"Let us continue with the plan," Hogun growled. Bella nodded. Sometimes it was better to watch the chaos unfold, which was something that Loki had said a lot over the past thousand years.

"We'll jump off that bridge when we come to it," Bella rolled her eyes.

"Why would we jump off a bridge?"

"It's a figure of speech, Renaissance Fair," Hawkeye snapped.

"I think I know how to shut it off," Sif said suddenly. Everyone turned to look at her, "Odin said that Gugnir was missing," Sif reminded him, "If I were Utgardaloki, I would use Gugnir as part of my design. It is indestructible."

"I take back everything nasty I ever said about you, Sif," Fandral breathed, "remove the spear, shut off the device."

"What's genius! While Utgarda is using Sophia as a faucet, he is using Gugnir as a lightning rod to capture it and store it in a type of battery. Absolute genius" Bella grinned madly, for a second, completely out of herself, and then she raised her rifle, "get down," she ordered, blasting three rounds over his shoulder taking down a massive blue Jotun with a space-gun that looked sort of like a rejected Star Trek prop. She smiled at her team.

Fandral shook his head, "I used to like her, now she scares me."

"I hope she can teach me that trick," Sif smiled too.

As the last of the Jotuns that had attacked them fell by Loki's fist, the teenagers that had sheltered in the small lane way started to sneak around the sides. They cheered as Loki turned around to see if they were alright. For a moment, he was just surprised at how they loved him and he soaked up the adulation.

Then he composed himself, "get down to the subway, stay off the street," he told them evenly but forcefully, "now."

STARK TOWER 1537

Tony got a good look at the device, "Sir, I do believe that the device has reached critical levels. There is no way to shut it off now," Jarvis informed him blankly. The device itself looked like some sort of space generator, pumping out tons of red energy into the sky, holding the portal open. It had the same basic design as Loki's device, with one major exception. Sophia was connected to the device.

"What is it?" Tony demanded to know.

"While Loki's portal generator was used to break through the walls of our universe and into another, this device has broken through the fabric of time and space into the Void."

"Einstein postulated that there were many parallel dimensions, and the Void separates them so they do not collide and destroy each other," Tony gritted his teeth, thinking.

"To counter the force of millions of universes pressing onto the Void, the Void must exert a force upon them equal to the force exerted on it."

"For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, I know," Tony shot back at his AI.

"In order for the Void to do this, then it must be constructed of pure energy," Jarvis explained.

Tony analysed the rooftop for himself. A tall guy, not blue, with chestnut hair and an oval face. He would have looked very generic, only he was so tall. By the way he was ordering the blue guys around, he was clearly Utgarda. The roof was guarded like Fort Knox, and so he descended through the levels.

"Of course, this is all merely theory."

Tony sighed, "Apparently not, Jarvis, by sicking the energy out of the Void, he can crush all the universes into a singularity that he can then mold with the power," he bit back, "there's our guy, J. Find me a weak spot."

"Yes sir."

Oh his HUD, a schematic of Stark Tower came up above his eyes as he circled the building, "heat signatures please."

"They are Frost Giants," Jarvis reminded him sourly, or at least as sourly as Jarvis could sound.

"Search for heightened energy signatures," Tony snapped, "you know, where the air conditioners are working overtime."

After a few moments, red dots began to appear all over the schematic, life signs, "the defense is centered around the top five levels with heavy resistance, so the best course of action is to enter the building at level 494 and fighting upwards."

"Any good suggestions?"

"Unless you have anything better, I would suggest that you call the others and tell them of the plan, Sir."
