A/N: OMG so apparently they're in the process of making The Silver Chair into a movie. I'm so excited! I just wish we could get to see more of Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter... And is anyone planning on watching William Moseley's new show? I'd much rather see him play a Narnian king but hey, I'll take what I can get.
And here we come to my personal favorite part of the story. So read on... You'll be shocked, I promise. This chapter is shorter than usual, but in a good way. PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO KEEP REVIEWING!
- Chapter 27 -
My dear husband,
I miss you. I am aware that I write that in every letter, but it is so true! The longer this lasts, the more I miss you. I am not sure how much longer I can bear the long days without you.
There is hardly a way to discuss what to name the twins if we are not together. The nurse estimates that I have around three months left until they are born. I hope you will be back by then, it would be such a shame if you were not.
Moving on, we do need to pick some names. I have actually thought of a few, but I am not sure which we should use. Goodness, I do wish there was a way to know what gender a child will be! Wouldn't that be wonderful?
For boy names, I was thinking that the name Winslow is precious. It is one that I've heard people using in Archenland. My sister's husband has a friend whose name is Winslow. For girl names, I absolutely love the names Lottie, Elle, Lyla... There are so many choices for girl names! But give me your ideas, they're your kids, too, you know.
I hope everything is going well. Please tell me how you've been doing! I know you've landed in Calormen - Twinglewing told us when they dropped off your letters - but have you made it to Tashbaan? Surely you have by now.
Be careful,
Analiese
Analiese handed her finished letter to Twinklewing.
"I love those names too, my Queen," the raven commented.
She sighed. "Twinklewing, how many times have I told you not to read over my shoulder?"
"I'm sorry, your Majesty. I couldn't help it!"
Analiese laughed and smiled at him. "Yes, I know. I'm just teasing you! And thank you."
"You're welcome, my Queen. I know you will name our new prince or princess something beautiful."
And with that, he flew off.

Meanwhile, Avaline sat in her own bedroom with Adela in her lap, and wrote a letter back to Edmund.
Edmund,
I can't wait until you get home. Goodness, this child is growing so fast! She's four months old now, Ed. Four months. How did that happen, right?!
Quit worrying so much though. No, she hasn't started talking or walking yet. All she ever does is sit in my lap, chew on some strange thing that Lucy gave her, and make weird baby noises. If you really want to know how the kid's doing, ask Lucy. I hardly ever see her because she's always off doing something with her aunt.
I'm glad that you're doing okay. Is Peter better? Did you figure out what was making him act so strangely a few months ago? I would write him, but this bird (yes, he is reading over my shoulder) won't give me any time! No, it's really not all his fault. It's more of Biff's fault. Dumb dwarf has a more organized schedule than the darn Lion.
I must go care for Adela now but we send our love.
Ava

Peter was more excited than ever to get a response from Analiese. He knew she wanted to pick out baby names, and he was ready. He wasn't about to let her name those kids anything weird. (In other words, no Calormene names, no Telmarine names, no Islander names, and so on.)
As he opened the letter, he was surprised to see that her name choices were actually acceptable. But he had a few ideas to add.
Analiese Dearest,
Me being me, I have a few names to add to your list. Our daughter should be named Cathalina. There is no argument there. Our son should be named Kingston or Ellington. Pick one. I'm sorry, but the name Winslow is not very prince-like.
I wasn't able to tell you this before, but the reason we landed in Calormen two months ago and are still here is that we were undercover for the first few weeks. We wanted to find out what these people have been saying about us before we went in. Just a fortnight ago, we journeyed into Tashbaan to speak with Ahmal Tisroc. However, we didn't have a chance to, as the guards were strict about letting us in.
Analiese, it was truly the strangest thing. I don't think they recognized us. All they knew was that we were Narnians. We were told in these exact words: "Narnians are not permitted to be in the presence of the Glorious Tisroc (May He Live Forever)." It was very strange.
In the past few nights, there have been bombings in the beginning hours of the morning. They have gone off in areas of Calormen that are known to be populated with Narnians, as well as areas which support our country in any way. I fear there is something greater coming of this.
I must go now, but I need you to read this very closely. Analiese, I May not be able to wrIte to you for a while. please do Not be worried. everyThing will woRk Out jUst fine. if the Babies are born before I get back, it won't be the end of the worLd. I have the rEst of my Great life to see thEm. I love you, Take care Of yoUrself and resT.
With love,
Peter
Analiese closed her eyes and shook her head to make the strange wording make sense. When she reopened them, nothing had changed.
What was up with all of those strange letters at the end? she asked herself. Surely that wasn't an accident. He'd never written like this before.
"Lucy!" she called, peeking her head out of her bedroom door.
"Yes?"
"Come here," Analiese waved her over. After Lucy was seated, Analiese put Peter's letter in front of her and pointed to the last paragraph. "What does this mean?"
A puzzled look came over the youngest Pevensie's face. "I... I'm not sure. Peter has never done that before."
"I know," Analiese sighed. "It has to mean something."
"Have you tried putting all of the capital letters together?"
"What good would that do?"
"Well, maybe it's a code," Lucy suggested as she grabbed the letter. "Let's see... I, May, wrIte, Not, everyThing, woRk, Out, jUst, Babies, worLd, rEst, Great, thEm, Take, Of, yoUrself, resT."
"That doesn't make any sense."
"No, but let's try this," Lucy said as she pulled out a piece of paper. She began writing letters across the paper, lining them up carefully. "Now read it."
Analiese gasped. It made sense now and everything was clear.
The letter read, "I'm in trouble. Get Out."
Peter was in trouble. She knew that he probably didn't write it in his letter in fear that it would be intercepted. Wait, no. That didn't make any sense. How would it be intercepted when Twinklewing was delivering them himself, by air?
Then it hit her. Peter wouldn't be afraid of the letter being intercepted under Twinklewing's watch unless there was someone who had access. Unless there was someone on the inside.
"Lucy!" Analiese said. There was great urgency in her voice. "Go get Avaline right now, and tell her that she must bring Adela."
"What's wrong?" Lucy asked, worry in her eyes. "What did it say?"
"Something is terribly wrong in Tashbaan. I don't have time to tell you now, but I can promise you that if my suspicions are correct, then there's someone in this very palace that is on the other side. We have to leave."
"Why so suddenly?"
Analiese ignored her and began packing her most valuable belongings, as well as confidential papers, in a large bag.
"Ana?"
Lucy's patience ended and her fearful side took over. "Analiese, I don't care if Peter is your husband. He's my brother, and if there's something wrong then I deserve to know!"
Analiese spun around to face the young girl. "Lucy, Peter said he's in trouble. I'm not sure what degree of trouble, but it's nothing good. He couldn't even write it in his letter because he was afraid of-"
"Of someone intercepting it," Lucy finished quietly. Her eyes were staring at something on the wall. "I knew it."
"Knew what?"
She blinked and her eyes found Analiese. "I can't tell you now. You're right, we're not safe here. If we have figured out the hidden meaning in that letter, then so has the person Peter is so afraid of. And if so, then they are waiting to strike."
After several minutes, Lucy had packed her own bag as well as one for Avaline, and had brought her and her baby back to Analiese's room.
"Why won't you just tell me what's wrong?" Avaline said as she rocked Adela frantically, trying in vain to hush the baby's crying.
"Because it's not safe to say here," Analiese answered. "Lucy, how do we get out of here?"
"Well, if we are both correct, we can't afford to tell anyone our plans. No one. Not even your nurses. Plenty of people have children on their own, and if that's what this all comes down to then it'll have to work."
Both girls nodded.
Suddenly, the bedroom door slammed back against the wall loudly. All three girls spun around, eyes wide in terror.
"My Queens!" Twinklewing sighed as he flew in the room. "I'm so glad you haven't left yet. I've gotten word from King Peter. He says the Calormenes are coming."
"So what do we do now?" Avaline asked. Adela had quieted down by now, but her mother still clutched her tightly to her chest.
"My Queens, I was told to keep you both here. King Peter says that he discovered information that made him change his mind about you leaving. They are returning to Narnia and will be back in three days."
Analiese was confused. How would they be back in three days if it took them two weeks to get to Calormen in the first place?
"I know what you're thinking, High Queen, but there is an emergency route in case of this sort of problem," Twinklewing informed her.
"That's all well and good, but I'd like to know-"
"Queen Analiese, there is nothing left for you to know," the raven said. "They will be back in three days, as I said before. But until then, they have requested that you stay indoors, stay upstairs, and don't trust anyone."

Two days later, Lucy woke to a loud, sharp ringing noise. She looked around the room, searching for the source of the noise. From the corner of her eye, she saw her bedroom door opening and whipped around to look.
"Lucy, do you hear that, too?" Avaline asked. She held Adela, who was surprisingly sleeping through the noise. The baby was dressed in a pale purple nightgown.
"Yes," Lucy answered. "What is that?"
"I've no idea."
Analiese walked through the open door. "Are they back?"
"No," the teenage queen replied. "They would be sounding trumpets, not this."
Twinklewing swooped in just then, landing on the top of Lucy's bedpost.
"My Queens," he said with a voice full of worry. "I have just received word from King Caspian."
"King Caspian?" Avaline questioned. Why would Caspian be contacting Twinklewing instead of Peter or Edmund?
"Yes, and he has terrible news..." The bird took a deep breath. "Your Majesties, King Peter, Queen Susan, and King Edmund have disappeared."
