A/N: I hate authors notes at the beginning of chapters but I thought I should go ahead and warn you that this is probably the worst I've ever written and this chapter really sucks.
- Chapter 33 -
The entire entourage and their leaders fell silent. Everyone was blinking and rubbing their ears, trying to think of something that would prove them wrong. Surely Caspian didn't just say what they all thought he did.
"King," Trumpkin said in complete disbelief, "Did you just say that Aslan is to blame for all of this?"
"Yes, this is not his will. Someone is holding him captive or holds something on him, if my theory is correct."
"What of our dear kings and queen?" a young man called from the crowd of soldiers behind them. He couldn't have been older than twenty and had a boyish look to him.
"What about them?"
"Well, what happened to them?" the boy asked.
Caspian met the boy's eyes in a look that reflected his stress. "I've no guess."
Trumpets began playing faintly from a long distance away, and Reepicheep jumped to attention.
"King Caspian, we must keep moving! The Calormenes will be here very soon."

Finally, they caught up to the Calormene army and stood face-to-face with them. Trumpkin laughed darkly as he watched their tan faces blank out with the shock that came with finding their enemy.
The battlefield was eerily silent as both countries looked upon each other in disgust. The Archenlanders knew they were outnumbered. Just as Camden and Caspian had jointly predicted, the Narnians never showed up.
After what seemed to be hours of waiting for the war trumpets to sound, they finally did. And all at once with no delay, everyone began rushing forward. Metal on metal, shouting and screams, animals squealing. The sounds of war.

Peter and Susan Pevensie sat against the walls of a dark cave with only the torches on the wall to give them light. Their younger brother laid asleep on the cave floor with three blankets on top of him.
Susan crawled over to her brother and placed her hand across his forehead and cheeks to check his temperature.
"He's freezing," she murmured. She looked up worriedly in her older brother's direction to find that he was paying her no attention.
"Peter," she said, irritated.
"Hmm?" he mumbled, slowly moving his head until he saw her.
"It's been over a week," her voice began to shake. "I'm not sure how much longer I can do this."
"Su, he's okay."
She sighed, her breath trembling. "I don't think he's going to make it."
The eldest Pevensie's mouth opened without his consent. This was the first recent, honest update on his brother's health. "Wh-What do you mean?"
"You and I both knew this would happen. We don't have the cordial and there's no medicine. There are too many wounds and he's bleeding out-"
His eyes turned dark. "So that's it? We just have to leave him here to die?"
"No, but we do have to start letting go. Peter, Ed was attacked. It's a blessing he was there to save us from getting injured worse than we did, or else we really would be in a pinch. I just don't know what more I can do for him."
"We can't just go back to Cair Paravel and grab Lucy's cordial?"
"We've no idea what state Cair Paravel is in right now. Going back is not an option."
"How are we ever going to get out then, Susan? Because it appears we never will! We're just stuck here to watch our brother die!" Peter shouted.
"Shh!" Susan whispered. Edmund stirred a little in his sleep and turned over on his other side. She slid down the cave wall and put her head in her hands.
"I'm sorry," Peter said. After a few more minutes of thought, he added, "Mum said I was to keep you all safe."
Susan looked up at him wearily.
"Su, I'm losing it. I have a dying brother, I have an injured sister, and I've no clue where my other sister even is. My pregnant wife may not have made it out of our home alive, and our children might not be alive. What did I do, Susan? Tell me what I did wrong. Why am I losing everything I've worked so hard to keep?"
Susan blinked in astonishment as she watched her brother break down in front of her. She had always viewed her older brother as the rock of their family. He barely ever cried and when he did, it was for a reason. The last time Peter had cried in the open was after the Battle of Beruna when everyone thought Edmund was dead. Maybe Peter really did have a soft spot for his siblings.
She couldn't think of anything to say to comfort him, though. In actuality, she couldn't say anything at all. Nothing could make their situation better.

The battle sounds continued on. Swords clinked against each other and arrows whizzed past soldier's heads.
Caspian finished off his sword fight with an elderly Calormene man. He looked around for another duel, but everyone was occupied. The Archenlander army was running out fast. There were so many of them dead that by now, two Calormenes fought every one Archenlander.
Caspian's eyes roamed the open field. There was no way out of this. He had to surrender.
Would King Peter give up so quickly? a voice in the back of his mind asked.
"No," Caspian answered himself aloud. "But I do not have a choice."
He saw Camden ride up beside him. "King Caspian, we-"
But he was interrupted by a sudden, loud cheering from the entire mob of Calormenes. They both looked in the direction of the cheers. At least twenty of the tan foreigners stood in a circle with their shields held above their heads. Upon closer examination, they saw someone in Archenland armor lying on the ground.
King Alfred.
Camden released a guttural sound. "Father."
Caspian saw his friend's sudden weakness and grabbed his arm. "We must go. There is still more to do."
The two of them ran in opposite directions but were headed to the same place. They fought anyone who came their way. The goal was to kill the Tisroc as the Calormenes had killed Archenland's king.
When the Tisroc was only several yards away, someone swung their sword at Caspian. He would recognize those eyes as long as he lived. The eyes of someone who seduced his cousin. The Tarkaan John.
"So we meet again, King Caspian," the Tarkaan said, a smirk spreading across his lips.
"Yes, and I see you haven't gained a bit of skill in your sword fighting since our last meeting."
His eyes narrowed. "I see you still haven't found that beautiful woman of yours. What was her name? Suzanne? Susie? Oh, that's right! Susan."
Caspian's face dropped in horror. "What did you do to her?"
"Nothing too terrible, your Majesty. Only what was necessary."
And then the real battle began. The battle for Avaline's happiness and Susan's life. The battle for Narnia.
"King Caspian! Look!" called a small voice who he recognized as Reepicheep. The mouse was pointing beyond the battlefield and up onto the hill that the Calormenes had come from, which led to Narnia.
Caspian followed the mouse's focus until he saw what nearly the entire two armies had stopped to see. A muscular, blonde-haired man was running down the hill, sword in hand.
"Could it be...?"
"Surely that's not..."
But it was. King Peter had returned.
The fighting had resumed though as the Calormenes refocused.
Camden was fighting off two Calormene men at once, using two swords. One of these swords he had stolen from a dead Archenlander that he had nearly tripped over.
Suddenly, he heard a young girl screaming. Followed by her pleading, "Please, please don't do it!" It was a scream just the same as every other dead soldier's had been today, but this one was different. This was one he recognized.
He quickly finished off the two soldiers at hand and spun around. Not too far away, Camden saw exactly who he suspected the voice had belonged to. The only girl he had ever bonded with. Lucy Pevensie.
"Lucy!" he cried. But it was too late. The sword had already plunged deep into her shoulder.
"Lucy!" he yelled again, racing over to her. He knelt next to her, completely vulnerable to everyone around him. "Lucy talk to me!" But the girl was slipping away.
What had he done to deserve this? His only friend was dying, and there was nowhere to take her. Not even the one everyone feared most was safe anymore.
A/N: Gosh, I really suck at battle scenes and action and anything where a lot happens at once because I never really know what to say to bundle everything together. Whatever, good enough. But now you all know what happened to the Pevensies, and for some reason I decided to let Peter come back. Lol don't really know why that happened. And Lucy's dying. Don't really know why she's there either. I swear this stuff is coming to me and I'm just writing it. I'll get the same end result in my story as I originally wanted, it's just that I keep adding stuff in that's only prolonging this whole darn thing.
Anyways, tell me what you think about Ed. Who do you think attacked them? Will he be alright? Love you guys :)
