Third Person POV

As the duo entered the ballroom of the Nott family, Hermione's eyes widened by scene of the lazy, dancing lights that washed the floor with elegance. She took in the dancing couples dressed in extravagant robes and the latest trends. Some near the entrance, stopped when they spotted the Gryffindor and Slytherin and made do to watching them cross along the edges of the room. Other's welcomed and congratulated them, if not doubtfully, on their newfound relationship.

The patriarch and matriarch had long rejoined their friends, the heads of the Nott family, and they were soon chatting away about one matter or another. Parkinson was dancing about the floor with none other than Theodore on her arms, even though it was quite obvious where her heart lies, as her eyes roamed the room, landed on it's victim, and eyed its every move.

Hermione was rather finding the event unnerving as she felt all the guests staring at her, but not in the way she was accustomed to, with admiration and love. They were eyeing her and criticizing everything she did, some even letting out a low murmur of disapproval or growl. She shared her discomfort with her companion: "Draco, how long must we stay?"

He lifted an elegant brow and his lips quirked upwards, "We just got here Hermione." As he took in her nervous state, her eyes flickering around and her grip vice-like around his upper arm, he added, "Just relax. They won't bite and besides, you look... stunning." Her eyes widened at his compliment yet she waved it off as simply a part of their act. "How say you and I share a dance?"

Before the young Granger could decline, he had already tugged her along towards the center of the room. He dipped his head in a bow, and she in a curtsy. Carefully, she placed a quivering hand on his shoulder and the other in his hand as he weaved a hand around his waist. A rushing sensation clogged her brain as he pulled her close, extremely so. He took the lead, guiding her along in an effortless fashion. A step, another, and then a turn, another step to the right, and on and on it continued.

"You really do look beautiful tonight Hermione," he murmured under his breath and his eyes watched her response, a subtle blush and a smile that she forced away. But it was enough for Draco Malfoy. He hugged a little closer and she leaned her head daintily upon his chest, breathing in his wondrous smell of cologne. But she immediately removed the thought from her mind, 'this is pretend,' she reminded herself. But even so, she couldn't help but admire his lean figure, his masculine scent, and his impeccable dancing skills.

As the night passed on, they danced and conversed with other students from their years at Hogwarts and some wealthy company owners simply out of formality. Hours passed, both unaware of the comfort they felt when they were in each others' embrace.

"Draco?" she asked quietly, as they lay on opposite sides of the bed, her staring in one direction and him the other.

"Hm?" he mumbled, sleep starting to reach him.

"I had fun... today," she said, a wistful smile creeping on her face. Draco smiled as well, each not seeing the other.

"Mmm...that's good."

"You also need to come with me to an interview on Wednesday," she said.

"Yeah, sure."

With that the night consumed the two as sleep claimed their peaceful minds, filling them with dreams of happy times. Together.

Ugh! That was so short! But I wanted to publish something today! I will try to write more later this week. :) Do you think I'm moving a bit too fast with this? I could change it
