(Tootie's PoV)

The next day had been more difficult for her. She thought about calling Vicki a couple of times. More times than not, Timmy would be non-responsive to anything she said. He had barely spoke after telling her what happened to his parents. Before she asked about what would happen to him. There was a fire in his eyes, a spark of life... but that went away when she told him that she was looking for a present for him. She wished she knew what had been in his mind at that moment. She wished there was some sign that he even heard her now.

She looked over to Timmy sitting in a chair in the living room. She thought he had been watching TV earlier that day, but he'd just been staring at the wall. It had taken her three tries just to get him to respond to her, and she gave up trying to get him to have a conversation. She turned her attention back to the work Vicki had brought over earlier that day, and more than once she considered just using the computer to get the answers so she could keep a closer eye on Timmy. Then again what was the hard of not watching him all the time, he hardly did anything. She'd notice if he moved

She she picked up her pencil and started on her math, easily the easiest subject for her and the most hated. She always thought it was funny that she hated math so much, but was so good at it. Once finished she turned to the other subjects one after another until all that was left was science... now that was a subject she hated almost as much as math... only difference was that she wasn't good at it. She put her pencil down. Surely she could do it later, she thought as she got up to fix a snack.

"Hey Timmy, what do you want for lunch?" she waited a moment... no reply. She walk to where she could see into the living room, and he was no where to be seen. "Timmy?"

She looked around the bottom floor of the house, bathroom was empty, as was the bedrooms and den. The kitchen and living room she already knew was empty. She poked her her into the garage, two cars in there. Timmy's mothers' and fathers, well she guessed they belonged to Timmy now... But, no Timmy. She went up stairs, the first room she thought to check was his parents room, but he wasn't there or in that bathroom. She checked each room on the top floor, his room, the other bathroom, what was considered the office or computer room. Had he slipped outside when she was doing her school work?

So much for knowing if he moved, her mind taunted, as she pulled out her cellphone. She dialed Vicki's number, maybe she could drive her around and see if they could find him... Vicki answered as she was about to open the door to the spare room she used.

"Hey Too..."

"Vicki," Tootie interrupted her sister, which wasn't a wise thing to do, but given what she thought might be wrong she had no choice. "I can't find Timmy anywhere in the house... I was doing the school work... and when I got up he was gone." She opened the door to the room that she decided would be hers, to grab her shoes. "Could you drive me around and look for... Timmy?"

"I'll be right over..." Vicki had started.

"No... I found him," she said as she looked at him curled up and sleeping on the bed in her room. She quietly left the room and closed the door. "I didn't think to check the room I was using... I didn't mean to bother you on your day off."

"It's alright, wasn't like I was doing anything." Tootie knew that Vicki rarely did anything, due to when she was mean all the time, no one wanted to be her friend... but she didn't want to tell Vicki that, she was actually pretty... normal when she wanted to be. Tootie had the chance to have friends, but instead she decided that she was going to obsess over Timmy. Yes it made her look weird and stalkerish, but she was very close now...

"I still wanted to thank you... hey Vicki. Do you maybe want to have dinner here." Tootie asked, she knew as much as Vicki that dinner with their parents was never easy, and with just one of them there, the other would have no one to talk to. "Maybe... if Timmy is alright with it, you could come over for dinner, nightly. Maybe it'll be like real dinners... I mean if you want to."

"A real family thing huh? Haven't done that since before... well you know." Tootie did know, after she was born, her parents started ignoring Vicki, like they had when she turned twelve. So Tootie knew what it was like, only Vicki had to deal with it since she was very young. She also understood why Vicki had been the way she was. "Yeah if the Twerp says it's alright."

"He's not a twerp"

"It's a term of endearment..." Tootie doubted that very much, but Vicki was Vicki. But she had noticed last night that Vicki had caught herself and corrected calling Timmy a twerp.

"Just for that, stop by and pick up something for dinner. I didn't have a chance to go out today. Timmy is the only one with a driver's license and I don't think he should be driving... he can't even pay attention while talking." Tootie didn't like saying that about Timmy, but it was true, it wouldn't be safe. "So maybe you could take us to the grocery store tomorrow?"

"Sounds like a plan short stack." Vicki hung up the phone before she had a chance to call her a name... Vicki, even nice could be irritating...

She started walking towards the stairs when she heard someone call her name. She looked around at first... seeing no one. Now that's creepy, she thought until she heard it again, a little louder... it was coming from her room. She opened the door and peeked in, Timmy was no longer curled up on the bed, but sitting on the edge looking at her with those piercing blue eyes. He looked up at her.

"You called me?"

"Remember that night... that it rained?" How could she forget that night, that was the first time he kissed her. "Well... when I woke up the next morning... you were... I mean we were, ugh, you know... I don't know the word."

"Holding each other?" He just nodded at the word, and continued to think, while her cheeks started turning pink, no she didn't recall that at all, but what made him bring it up now?

"It felt... I mean It made me feel happy, I was wondering if maybe..."

"YES!" she jumped at how fast she answered, and backpedaled fast, "I mean uh, yeah sure... if you... if it'll make you feel better."

She didn't do a good job of hiding her excitement as she kicked of her shoes and almost floated over to the bed to sit next to him, until he was ready to lay down. It was okay right, she was fourteen about to turn fifteen, and he was sixteen... they were old enough to cuddle... that was the word she wanted to use... but she didn't want to freak him out with it. It felt like hours until she finally decided to lay down. It took him a bit longer to lay down, and even longer before she felt his body press against her back. Then a arm snaked it's way under her neck and the other draped over her waist. She brought one hand up lacing her fingers with the one over her waist. He had tensed up at first but was starting to relax some.

"Felling better now Timmy?"

"A little," Wasn't much, but at least she was giving him some kind of comfort. At least she was useful to him, and it made her happy to know that even in a small way... with no effort, because this is what she had wanted since she was nine, that what she wanted was making him happier. After a few minutes, his body was completely relaxed, and his breathing was even and soft... she closed her eyes and squeezed his hand softly, then she too let sleep claim her.

(Timmy's PoV)

The last two days... or was it just one since Tootie had been here, he wondered as he laid curled up with Tootie. Most of it was a haze, all of the fight he had saved up to have it out with Tootie vanished after she said she was looking for a birthday present. He didn't know if it was true or not, but he did know that once he heard it all the fight left in him was gone. He didn't feel like even existing... he didn't want to exist. He asked Tootie to lay down with him, hoping it would make him feel like it had that morning, when he woke up next to her. Sadly it barely made him feel anything.

He thought he was in love with Tootie after that night... that had been the real reason he'd avoided her... he was too scared to admit that before, even to himself, but now... what did he have to be afraid of? Everything was gone... even his emotions seemed to have checked out. He didn't really want to live anymore... but for some reason Tootie was sticking to him like a moth to a light... more like a moth to the only light. Could she know about his thoughts of suicide, he wondered then dismissed the thought. No Tootie didn't know, she was always clingy. Maybe with him gone, she wouldn't have to worry about him anymore.

He got up and just looked at her. She was beautiful when she was sleeping... well she was always beautiful. He just wished he had of noticed long ago... wish he had given her love a chance like she had begged them in her youth. He had to meet her on a game, and get to know her there before finding out she was what he had been looking for all this time. But now... those feeling he had were so faded he hardly felt them, and that was the reason he decided that he didn't want to live anymore. He could have gotten over his parents deaths, could have gotten over being a social outcast, and the pity everyone would be giving him. But he had assumed that his feelings for Tootie would help him get through it, but they were almost gone.

He tapped Tootie's arm a couple of times and called her name. No answer, she shifted a bit but resettled, once more with the same reaction. Satisfied that she was sleeping deeply he leaned down and kissed her cheek, his heart jumped a bit... but not enough, he sighed as he walked out of the room, and into the bathroom. He opened the medicine cabinet and looked at the bottles. Any of them would work, but he grabbed the sleeping pills, his mother sometimes used. He figured what ever happened when you overdosed had to be better if you were sleeping.

He returned to his room, and took a handful of the pills and sat down, pulled out a piece of paper, wrote down what he wanted to... what he needed to. Setting the note down... he went to his bed and laid down. He just wanted this to be over with... he didn't want to feel anymore. He closed his eyes and the world was whisked away.
