(Tootie's PoV)
Vicki pulled into the driveway of Timmy's house, looking at the smoke coming from under the hood. She cursed the car, Vicki had said many times that she wished she had of saved up more before buying it. Then since it ran, she didn't feel like replacing it. Vicki got out and kicked the tire, before opening the trunk that held the stuff they took from their home.
Tootie expected some kind of argument with their parents over her moving into Timmy's house. Vicki they couldn't really stop, but her they could... however they didn't even seem to care one way or another. Most people would have felt sad and betrayed at this, but how could she feel that? Vicki was her sister, Timmy was her boyfriend... and while she and Vicki didn't share any blood relations with Timmy, for which she was glad, he was family. Because Family is who loves you, and who your love... it has nothing to do with blood. So their parents betrayal was actually the kindest thing they could ever do for the two girls, even if they didn't know it.
Tootie opened the back door of the car, and shook Timmy awake, they didn't want to leave him alone at his house... one because even though he said he wouldn't try it again, her and Vicki both were afraid that he might try to hurt himself. Then there was the paperwork said that he had to be constantly monitored for the next forty-eight hours. So that ended up with him curling up in the back seat sleeping while the they packed up what belongings they wanted to bring.
Timmy helped carry everything inside, and to the rooms they would go into. Once they were done Vicki vanished into the kitchen looking for something to eat, only to return from the kitchen looking depressed. Tootie knew that there was hardly anything in there. Timmy didn't shop for things, or at least hadn't for over three weeks.
"Should we head to the store?" Timmy suggested, even though he looked like he just wanted to sleep.
"I don't know if my car'll make it... I just hope it gets me to work when I need it too." It was a good thing that Vicki didn't have to go into work for another three days.
"Well..." Timmy stood up, and motioned them to follow, into the kitchen then into another door that Tootie had over looked, not that it blended in, she just had never looked over there before. Timmy disappeared into the door, then flipped a switch. Inside were two cars, both very new looking. "You could use one of these... they were mom and dads, but I guess they are mine now."
Tootie looked at both the cars. Both were defiantly out of Vicki's spending limit, then remembered that Timmy's father had gotten a big promotion and raise, and the housing development that opened up helped his mother. Not that she really cared... but she wondered exactly how much Timmy had received.
"You're serious?" Vicki looked at him, then to the cars... then back to him.
"Yeah, I can't drive them yet... you can use either of them whenever you want." Vicki had chosen what she assumed was Timmy's dad's car, a black sedan. Once inside Timmy reached between the front seats and pushed the button on the device on the sun visor, the garage door opened behind them. Luck would have it, the the car Vicki chosen was on the side where her car wasn't behind it.
"So where too?" Vicki asked backing up, obviously thrilled to be driving something other than her car. Tootie wondered if Vicki knew that they would end up this close to Timmy, and living in his house... if she would have been nicer to him when they were younger. Then again, she doubted it. Vicki was Vicki after all.
"Maybe we can get lunch at the mall." Timmy suggested, and didn't say anything beyond that. Tootie could tell that there was still a lot on his mind, but she wasn't going to push.
Lunch had been great, talking, and laughing, just what you'd expect from a family. The only slight argument was that Timmy insisted on paying, and Vicki had given up once he seemed adamant about it. After lunch they had wandered around for a bit, every now and again Timmy would vanish, then turn up again. Neither her nor Vicki said anything, since they too had darted into a store once or twice themselves, forgetting the company they had. He bought several things, they even managed to get him to buy a set of clothing that wasn't so dark, which he wasn't too fond of.
After leaving the mall they stopped at a grocery store, and shopped for food they would need, and also explained to Timmy that buying enough for that day just wasn't smart. He grumbled but went with them because well... she assumed that he figured it was easier than arguing. It actually wasn't as difficult as she thought it would be, they all seemed to like the same foods, and hate most of the same foods. Another show down at the registers, that was solved by Timmy swiping his card first.
"You know..." Tootie started once the car was loaded and they were all inside. "You don't have to pay for everything."
"I would have paid for it anyways if I was alone or not." Timmy said absently looking out the window.
"Yeah well you still don't have to," Vicki adjusted the mirror so she could see him in the back seat. "I mean, you're letting me use this car, giving me a much needed escape from my parents..." Tootie clearned her throat, "Us, you're giving US a much needed escape."
"I know, but still what you're doing for me Vicki..." his voice cracked, as he stared intently out the window. "I owe you... both. With you either of you I wouldn't be here right now... and well I wouldn't even be alive."
(Timmy's PoV)
Once everything had been put where it belonged, Vicki and Tootie started dinner. He told them he was going to shower and be down in a bit. He rushed upstairs, putting some of the things he had bought away. Except a little box, he set on his dresser. He then took his medications and grabbed a change of clothing and went to the bathroom. He turned on the water then stripped down, and stared into the mirror. He shook his head as he looked at the monitor things on his chest, which he pulled off. He had wondered what it was, then went to the shower.
He sighed loudly as he stood under the warm stream of water, it felt like it was literally washing all the things wrong away. Though deep down he knew they would return after the shower, but at the moment he didn't care. Tootie and Vicki were now with him. He laughed, Vicki was living with him... he had ASKED her to live with him. He never in a million years thought that he would do that, and he never expected her to actually help him when he really needed it. When he asked her, he thought it was going to be jokes over right then and there, had expected it.
After he was clean he just continued to stand under the water. The real reason he had come up here was to take his medication, near the end of their shopping trip he had started feeling anxious around all the people, and with Tootie grabbing his hand, or linking his arm so often that she didn't even realize she was doing it. He didn't even remember when it had started, which bothered him slightly, that he was almost completely accepted it before realizing it was happening.
"Timmy?" he jumped and covered himself, until he realized Tootie was still outside the door.
"Yeah?" Maybe they were looking for something in the kitchen... well he helped they could find it, he knew nothing really about the kitchen... except a few things.
"You've been up here for over an hour," she called through the door. "Just making sure you were alright."
"Oh..." He hadn't realized that he had been in the shower that long. It was just so relaxing... "I'll be right out."
He turned off the water, dried himself off, and dressed. When he opened the door Tootie must have went back down stairs he thought as he rubbed his hair dry with the towel. He looked between his room and the stairs, one lead to dinner, and the other lead to bed. He wanted both, but couldn't decide which he wanted first.
Dinner won for two reasons, one he was hungry, and two if he didn't show up, they'd come looking again. So he went downstairs and into the dining room. Vicki and Tootie were waiting for him, and he took his place in front of the only other plate on the table. They made idol conversation though out dinner and it moved from topic to topic. About school, and when he planned on going back. He wasn't sure if he planned on going back, or if he planned on doing online courses.
The more embarrassing part was when Vicki decided to ask semi personal questions about him and Tootie without going over the line. She seemed to only want to make sure, if anything happened they'd be safe. But still too personal to talk about... without his medication he couldn't even kiss Tootie, much less other things.
"So, what should we do tomorrow since we are doing this family thing?" Vicki asked, and Tootie looked up willing to participate in this topic, instead of the other.
"You two can do whatever. I plan to just relax tomorrow... I'm still not feeling completely happy... don't get me wrong, having you two here... it's great." he didn't know what else to say, so he just stopped and moved his food around a bit on the plate.
"Well I guess we could hang around here, and go somewhere else, the day after." Tootie offered, "Plus it'll give us time to completely unpack and get things put away."
"Mmm," Timmy assumed that was Vicki agreeing, though he wasn't entirely sure.
After dinner her went up to his room, and heard Tootie telling Vicki she was going to take a shower. Timmy grabbed the little box he had put on his dresser quickly went across the hall to Tootie's room, without being seen by Vicki. He opened the little box, inside was a ring... he'd lost everything... Tootie, and now Vicki was all he had in the world. And he wanted to make sure Tootie stayed.
He leaned back on her bed, looking up to the ceiling. He'd never really thought about marriage, that just seemed like it was so far away, but since he was thinking about it he wouldn't mind marrying Tootie... if he could do that without passing out every fifteen minutes due to the stress. She had calmed down... though she clearly still was in love with him... and he felt something for her. He still wasn't sure if it was love... or if it was just he'd been alone so long the company felt good.
"Timmy!" the voice caused him to jump, and look towards the door. There was Tootie, wrapped in just a towel, that seemed to only be big enough to just barely cover her. The sight caused him to try to scramble back on the bed, until he fell off the other side, his head hitting the wall.
"Sorry!" He muttered covering his eyes. Why couldn't she have dressed in the bathroom like a normal person? He moved his hands away only to be scolded.
"No looking!" and his hands covered his eyes once again, he heard drawers open and close. Then finally. "You can look now."
"I assumed you'd be dressed when you came back." he muttered looking off to the side, getting up and rubbing the back of his head where he had hit it.
"What... uh... what were you doing in here anyways?" Her voice wasn't accusing, or even harsh... just curious.
"Uh..." he had forgotten a moment why he had come in here in the first place. Why had he come... he looked around him, then down to his feet where he spotted the little box. "Oh yeah..." he leaned down and picked up the box and wet over to Tootie. "Now... don't uh... this isn't... I mean, one day I wouldn't mind if, you know... but this isn't." It didn't sound so stupid when he went over it in his head.
(Tootie's PoV)
"Now... don't uh... this isn't... I mean, one day I wouldn't mind if, you know... but this isn't." She tilted her head at the words. They didn't make any sense.
"What?" when he put the little box in her hand, she almost squealed, then recalled his words... now they made sense... wait... he wouldn't mind one day? Did that mean he wanted to marry her in the future... is this an engagement ring? She opened the box and looked at it... it looked like an engagement ring. "So this is... an engagement ring?"
"Well, yeah..." but he shook his head no, which confused her. But the words that came out of his mouth seemed to confuse him even more, since he put a hand over his mouth and his eyes got wide.
"So... which is it, yes or no." she could barely hold still, there was a fifty fifty chance he was asking her to marry him... but in the future. She just waited.
"I..." he looked around then looked at her. Then just kinda started ringing his hands together.
"That looks like a yes to me Toots." Timmy's eyes got wide, Tootie just blushed and spun around looking at her sister. "So am I going to have to start calling him my Twerp-in-law?"
"He hasn't answered yet... and stop calling him a Twerp!"
"Not gonna happen, he's the Twerp, it's a term of endearment." Then Vicki looked at Timmy, and smiled and said softly. "Go ahead. Tell her."
"Tootie... I..." his face turned red, and Tootie wondered if he had taken his medication, this was more attention than he usually liked, but he either was fighting to stay in control, or fighting to stay up right... or the medication was working. "Will you..."
Tootie ran over to him as fast as she could as she saw he was falling backwards. She should have know that he couldn't have handled the situation... actually she had know he couldn't but she was dying to hear him say it... he'd kissed her, held her... but he had never said he loved her, and that... asking her to marry him, would have been admitting that. She didn't make it to him in time, luckily his back hit the wall and he just slid down, his head to the side and eyes closed.
"Well... that was a bust." Vicki put her hands in the air and went over to help her put him on the bed. "Normally I'd say you couldn't sleep in the same bed... but obviously... your in safe hands. Night."
And just like that she was gone, leave it to Vicki to find some way to torture him... but this wasn't the same as the other times she'd seen him pass out, this was... like... a mild walk in the park. One of his eyes opened looking towards the door, then the other.
"She gone?" Timmy asked quietly. Tootie had to cover her mouth to keep form laughing. Sly very sly.
"Yeah she left," she answered quietly, laying in the bed next to him. "So... if you don't want to answer it's alright..."
"Well," he closed his eyes as she curled up next to him, putting her head on his chest. "Yes, I want to marry you, not right now... but I do."
Tears trickled down her cheeks and onto his shirt as she embraced him tighter. How long had she wanted to hear that from Timmy? Years, she had wanted this for years. He turned putting his arms around her, she felt his body relax more than it had in a long time. She leaned up and kissed his lips.
"I want to too," was all she could say, it was the only phrase she could think of. She didn't know how long she laid there, but her eyes was drifting shut.
"Tootie?" She heard him call her name softly.
"Mmm?"
"I... don't want to lose you..." she squeezed him tighter. "I love you Tootie."
"I love you Timmy, always have." she smiled... today was the prefect day ever. It even blew the Valentines Day when she was eleven away. Timmy had kissed her then too, but this... he said the words. She could tell he meant them. With that thought Tootie fell asleep.
