Chapter 5: Independence
Freddy knew dealing with this bunny wouldn't be easy. In fact, after hearing about his powers, Freddy didn't see a point to fight back. He just stared into Springtrap's neon green eyes.
"Uh...fighting really isn't necessary uh...what's your name?" Freddy asked.
"My name isn't important right now, what's important is that you confess to me that you remember me. You shouldn't need to ask that...YOU KNOW WHO I AM!" Springtrap snarled.
"Not really, look if the others don't know...then I'm sure I don't know."
"DON'T YOU REMEMBER THE TIME WHEN...when..."
The memory of him beating up Golden never surfaced and instead he was receiving nothing but pain in his head for memories being blocked off. Freddy just watched confused as Springtrap let him go and grabbed his own head. Springtrap nearly dropped to one knee and Freddy noticed something odd about his head, it was sparking like he was some kind of robot.
"Your head...it's sparking. Why?" Freddy asked.
Springtrap didn't answer as he continued to groan, Freddy could've ran...but would be caught quickly. Without fulling thinking, he moves to touch Springtrap's head, not only getting a tiny shock...but getting an angry glare from the bunny.
"DON'T TOUCH ME!"
Springtrap swung a wicked haymaker hitting Freddy in the chest knocking the wind out of him. Freddy hits his wall hard and slides down to all fours. Foxy and Chica heard the commotion.
"FREDDY! YOU ALRIGHT?" Chica asked.
Freddy wanted to resolve this himself so he lied.
"I'M FINE! I JUST FELL!" Freddy yelled back.
He turned to Springtrap just in time and dodged two punches from the bunny. Freddy jumped away and grabbed for something in the top drawer of his dresser, his gun. He aimed it quickly at Springtrap who recoiled a bit.
"You're gonna shoot me? Trying to find the easy way out? YOU CALL YOURSELF A LEADER? PUT THAT GUN AWAY!" Springtrap demanded.
Foxy and Chica recognized that voice and they became worried.
"Oh no...not now." Chica groaned.
"Come on lass!" Foxy said sprinting for the stairs.
When they got up there, they saw Freddy holding Springtrap at gunpoint.
"FREDDY! DON'T SHOOT HIM!" Foxy yelled.
"I'M NOT! I just want him to listen." Freddy said.
He turned his attention back to Springtrap who seemed to have calmed down. Freddy didn't even have his finger on the trigger.
"And what could you possibly want to tell me?" Springtrap snarled clenching his fists.
"We just want to help you out. You say you've forgotten your past, do you remember any of your memories?" Freddy asked.
"NO! I ONLY HAD THE ONES WITH YOU ALL IN THEM AS SOON AS I SAW EACH OF YOU! THAT'S IT!"
"So that's why you've been attacking us, because we don't remember?"
"Not only that, but it's because you're gang is weak, and I've proven that all week. You call this a gang, I don't need a gang to back me up. So why do you?"
Freddy was a little taken back by this, he lowered the gun.
"This isn't just a gang...this are my family...at least...all I have left." Freddy said.
Tears started to form in Freddy's eyes remembering Golden and Fredrick. He ended up dropping the gun on the floor and wiping his eyes. Springtrap realized he had gotten Freddy to think about something very personal. Deep down he felt bad...he questioned why the hell did he even ask that. The situation was too unfamiliar and too awkward for him...so he decided to leave.
"I'll...go now..." He said.
Before Foxy or Chica could speak up, Springtrap warped away leaving Freddy to sit on his bed covering his face with his hands.
"Freddy...you gonna be okay?" Chica asked.
Freddy wiped some more tears while Foxy and Chica went to sit with him on the bed. Over at Nette's house, Bon Bon watched as Nette healed him, though the process was pretty slow. He hadn't woken up yet.
"That bunny is scary." Bon Bon said.
"Mabye...but we must help him. And who knows, mabye it isn't amnesia...mabye Fredrick had something to do with it. Our only way is to find him again." Nette said.
"But how? I don't think he'll listen to us."
"Oh I'm sure he will once those shadow creatures arrive. Their signal has been weak, they possibly got rid of any way to detect them. We better we get them before they try a sneak attack."
"You're right...man...so much at once."
Finally Bonnie started to stir awake and Bon Bon smiled.
"Bonnie! You're okay!" She cheered.
"Ugh...man that guy can pack quite a punch, what happened?" Bonnie asked.
"You passed out so I brought you here to heal." Bon Bon said.
"Oh...thank you Bon Bon." Bonnie smiled.
"Anytime brother."
"Now that you're awake, we have something to discuss." Nette said.
"What?"
Suddenly Nette slaps Bonnie hard in the face, much to Bonnie and Bon Bon's horror.
"YOU IDIOT! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO TALK TO HIM, NOT FIGHT HIM!" Nette roared in his face.
"The guy was convincing me to do so. Plus I wanted revenge." Bonnie crossed his arms.
"IT'S GONNA BE PRETTY HARD TO GET HIM TO JOIN OUR SIDE NOW! YOU BETTER HOPE WE CAN FIX THIS!" Nette growled.
Bonnie felt terrified, Bon Bon ducked below the side of the couch.
"I'm sure everything will be fine." Bonnie said.
"You better hope so." Nette pointed a long claw at him.
Rain had started to pour down on Striker City, people were scrambling to get to shelter. Chi Chi had been out on a walk but was now racing to get home. She hadn't expected to rain and she was upset. She heard about what happened to Bonnie, and honestly she thought what Bonnie did was wrong, but she was angry at Springtrap as well.
"Bonnie, I hope you learned your lesson. But just wait until I get my talons on that golden bunny." Chi Chi hissed flexing her sharp talons.
She realized she was too far away from the apartments and so she went inside of the candy store that had been repaired after the gang's little candy rush adventure. She browsed silently around aisles feeling a bit hungry. It was only her and one other man in there...or so she thought. While looking over some chocolate, the man came into her aisle smirking. She hadn't really noticed him coming and heard some breathing.
"Hey sweet cheeks, you look lonely." The man purred.
Chi Chi looked at the man and scoffed.
"Step off creep." Chi Chi said turning away.
But the man didn't listen and actually tried to grab her ass, Chi Chi felt his hand touch her mini-skirt and was just seconds from decking the man in the face when a loud gunshot ringed through the store. Chi Chi ducked down hoping she wasn't in the way, the store clerk had ducked too. When she realized it was the only shot fired, she dared look at the man who wasn't standing in anymore.
"The hell?"
The man was on the ground dead, a bullet hole through his head, blood and brain matter scattered on the ground. Chi Chi nearly threw up and looked away...but that's when she saw him...
"No...it's you." Chi Chi gasped.
There standing in front of her was Springtrap...the gun lowered down. Chi Chi could not believe this, Springtrap actually helped her...probably saved her.
"Why? Why did you..." Chi Chi had to blink several times to understand this.
"Like I'm gonna let anyone disrespect a lady like that." Springtrap said.
Chi Chi noticed that judging by his face, he seemed more relaxed, more concerned. Chi Chi started to break into crying after being offended by that man. She didn't even care that Springtrap actually wrapped an arm around her keeping her close. Springtrap turned to the clerk who backed up a bit upon coming over.
"You...tell...no one!" Springtrap growled.
The clerk nodded and decided to call an ambulance despite the man being dead already. Springtrap walked Chi Chi outside and engulfed then in a golden shield and took her home.
"You okay?" Springtrap asked.
"Y-Y-Yes...thank you." Chi Chi sniffed.
Chi Chi was still confused by this whole situation, yes she was still furious with Springtrap, but at the same time thankful for helping her. They said nothing else until they arrived at the apartments. The rain had lightened into sprinkling and Springtrap deactivated the shield.
"You know...I don't get you." Chi Chi said.
"Huh?" Springtrap turned to her.
"Why did you do all of this from the start? You beat up Foxy, attacked me and Chica, then beat up Bonnie. But...now you've helped me out. I just don't understand what's going on. I mean I know you're trying to find out more about your past...but...even if you were to find out some parts through us, it's not your whole past."
Springtrap listened carefully...and she had a point. The Fazbear Gang wouldn't have known about his whole childhood or the crash or anything before he was taken by Fredrick. And he didn't know any other ways to get those memories back, he didn't remember who his parents or friends were...he felt alone...and if he was to be alone...that was fine...he actually preferred to be independent.
"I'm just angry alright? Angry that my quest to find you guys and get at least A BIT of my past had failed. You don't remember anything, and when I try to give them hints, nothing comes to mind. This amnesia has been driving me insane to the point I might as well not trust anybody. For all I know, mabye the gang does know and just wants me to suffer. Or...Fredrick is behind all this and ruined me, he already made me look like Bonnie." Springtrap explained.
"You can trust us...we'd never do that to you. We want to help you, even if you don't want to be anywhere near us...at least let us try. Besides...we could really use your help now."
"Why?"
"Apparently some old creations of Fredrick's are coming to town to destroy us and the town out of revenge."
"Old creatures? What exactly are they?"
"We call them shadow creatures."
Suddenly a new memory came to Springtrap's head and he staggered back feeling it coming.
-STATIC-
Springtrap spots the stasis tubes with Shadow Bonnie and Shadow Freddy in them beside the ones containing Bonnie and Bon Bon's parents.
"Who are they?" Springtrap asked.
"Oh...they're just...people who decided to give their bodies to science when they died." Fredrick said.
"Oh...okay."
-STATIC-
Springtrap gasped and clenched his fists tightly.
"What's wrong?" Chi Chi asked.
"I remember them...they were in stasis around the time I was there. I think Fredrick once said that despite being in stasis...they were able to hear stuff, just couldn't react to it. Mabye..."
"Mabye what?"
"Mabye...THEY KNOW ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED AND WHO I AM!"
Chi Chi was surprised by this and felt uncertain.
"Are you sure?"
"They're my last chance...but if there here to destroy the town. I'll destroy them myself."
"But what if you need help?"
"I don't need help, I can depend on myself."
"If you say so. By the way...what is your name already?" Chi Chi asked.
"Fine if you must know...my name is Springtrap."
"Springtrap? Really?"
"It's a cool name, hmph."
Springtrap turned his head away feeling a little proud about himself, and Chi Chi scoffed.
"I'm still pissed that you beat up my boyfriend." Chi Chi sneered.
Springtrap only gave her an evil grin before warping into his apartment at the top. Chi Chi, seeing the rain picking up again, went inside to rest...but not before texting Chica. Back at Freddy's house, the three were eating more pizza, Freddy was feeling better and was talking with the others about something.
"Aye, I'm still puzzled whether I was having a dream or not. But freddy being a pirate, that's something I'd never thought I'd see. Doesn't really fit ye Freddy." Foxy said.
"Oh please, I bet I could rival you as a grand pirate." Freddy scoffed.
"Never Freddy, you're too much of a gentlemen to be a pirate." Foxy teased.
Chica got Chi Chi's message and gasped.
"Wow...I can't believe it." Chica said.
"What lass?"
"That bunny saved Chi Chi at the candy store. Some guy tried to touch her ass and the bunny killed that man, then walked her home." Chica informed them.
Freddy and Foxy were shocked...he actually did something nice...for someone he attacked not too long ago?
"Wow...mabye this guy really does have a heart." Foxy said.
"Mabye...I believe the tables are finally turning for us...in a good way." Freddy smiled.
"So you're still gonna get on Bonnie for what he did?" Chica asked.
"You bet I am." Freddy sneered.
"I don't think I want to be around to see this. So I'm gonna head on home." Foxy got up.
"Alright, see you tomorrow then." Chica said.
They shared a passionate kiss before Foxy left back home...it had been a long night. As he got there, he saw Nette walking Bon Bon home.
"Hey Foxy, everything alright?" Bon Bon asked.
"Well, found out that bunny helped out Chi Chi and killed some creep fer her." Foxy said.
"WHOA! I wish I could've been there." Bon Bon sighed.
Foxy and Nette turn to her shocked, since when did she want to see murder? She was definitely turning into Bonnie. Nette shook his head and tapped a claw on his chin.
"Interesting about that guy. Mabye Bonnie hasn't ruined anything." Nette thought.
"Where is the landlubber?" Foxy asked.
"Going back to the house." Bon Bon said.
"Oh...well let's hope he can survive Freddy's anger...again." Foxy sighed.
"Probably not this time, he's lucky I didn't beat him." Nette clenched a fist.
"He was only protecting me, that guy could've went after me. Then what?"
"True...but...still..." Nette sighed.
"Look let's just hope that whatever happens...we'll all be fine and we'll stop those shadow creatures." Foxy said.
"Something tells me they've already entered the city...mabye. And now they're just hiding out." Nette said.
"Shit, well as long as they don't bother us tonight, we shall be fine. I'm kinda hoping Freddy doesn't talk with Bonnie tonight...the lad has been through enough. In fact, I think I'll get Mangle to text him that." Foxy said.
"Good. Well...time for me to be hitting the old dusty trail. My music box is calling my name." Nette said.
"So it's calling Marion?" Foxy teased.
"WHY YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Nette snarled.
Nette chased Foxy behind the house while Bon Bon went inside ignoring the scuffle that had ensued between the two. She saw Mangle getting ready to go upstairs.
"Hey Mangle, I'm worried about my brother. Freddy is really pissed off at him and I don't want there to be trouble." Bon Bon said.
"Yeah I've been concerned too since Chica told me, also did you hear from Chi Chi? That bunny helped her."
"Yeah I heard...that was nice of him."
"It was...I want to hear all about tomorrow. But yeah I'll talk to him."
"Thanks Mangle."
"Where is Foxy?"
"Oh getting-"
She didn't finish when they see Foxy get slammed into the window, his face obviously revealing he was in pain. He slid down out of sight and the girls shrugged.
"Well that's normal." Mangle said.
"True. I've been around you guys long enough to know that."
Before going to bed, Mangle sat up and called Freddy. The bear picked up his phone and smiled when he saw Mangle's name.
"Hello?"
"Freddy...I know about what happened. I know you're pissed but...can I please not find out something happened tonight? Bonnie was only protecting Bon Bon, though Bon Bon said Bonnie started the argument.
"I just can't believe he disobeyed me like that. He never has."
"Just...reason with him instead of fighting. I know he's pretty stubborn but...we don't need another angry bunny rampaging around town.
"I probably won't even say anything tonight. I honestly don't want to speak to him at all tonight. I've been wondering if mabye I can still trust him."
"What? Of course you can, you two are best friends. You act like he's connected with that bunny or something."
"What if he is?"
"Freddy that's crazy talk! Don't compare Bonnie to him!"
"Yeah...you're right. Look I'll talk with him tomorrow and hopefully things will go well. I'm just so stressed about our safety against those shadow creatures. They are almost here, hell they can already be lurking around now."
"We'll deal with that, our first priority is getting that golden bunny."
"Okay..."
"Good, I love you Freddy."
"I love you too Mangle."
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
Freddy hung up and sighed...he soon hears the door open downstairs. In comes Bonnie who rubs his head and he sees Chica cleaning up the kitchen.
"Hey Chica."
"Hey Bonnie, everything checked out?"
"Yeah, where's Freddy?"
"Uh...I think he's sleeping already." Chica said turning away to hide her worry.
"Okay, I'm going to bed too." Bonnie said.
"Alright, I'll be up soon...hopefully in time." Chica whispered that last part.
Freddy peeked out his door to see Bonnie heading towards his room. Negative vibes began to stretch from Freddy towards Bonnie. He felt the vibes and glared in Freddy's direction and the bear shuts the door slowly. Bonnie shrugs and goes into his room while Chica wipes her forehead.
"Phew..."

Uh-oh...things might get a little heated next chapter. Also, Springtrap finally shows a bit of his good side, even if it resulted in someone's death. I really wanted to bring back Foxy's teasing of Nette so there it was. Originally this chapter was going to have Freddy's confrontation with Bonnie but I decided to save that for next time. What will happen between Freddy and Bonnie? Will Springtrap finally reason with the Fazbear Gang, are the shadow creatures already in town? STAY TUNED!
