The red haired woman is back again, with the plate of meat in hand. The wolf pack I've taken over goes at the plate the second she puts it down. She leaves and comes back a few moments later with another plate. A plate of cooked meats and fries and fruit. She puts it down right beside me and as she goes to leave I throw my arm around her narrow shoulders in the hug I'd promised to give her in my mind. She takes the needle from her pocket and I offer her my arm.
My boys are growling at her but I know that I need the offered pain medication. She looks very startled at my sudden half hug but she's trying not to show it. I nod to show my appreciation as the meds rush through my veins. As she goes back to the door she whispers something that unnerves me.
"Eat quickly Tory." And then she is gone again. I'm tempted not to eat at all but my stomach is empty and growling, demanding I scarf down at least a little of the offered food. I choose a little piece of chicken, smiling as I remember the cafeteria attack.
"Care to explain, Victoria?" Hiram seems kind of mad at me.
"You'd need pain meds too if you'd been shot... three or four times?" I don't really know how many times I've been shot and I kinda don't want to know. I am left to once again wonder why they haven't taken Blue from me. His soft puppy fur sticks to my hand as it falls out. I eat with the hand not covered in fur. About ten minutes after the woman delivered us the food the door opens again.
"Cooperate and no one gets hurt." One of the men who enters says coldly. My boys move to stand behind me. I stare at the trio of men who just entered. Two of them pull guns and the third comes straight towards us. It's me. It's going to be me, I know it.
"Victoria Brennan, you are coming with us for testing." See, I knew it. The Virals growl as he scoops me up but I don't ague, I just shake. I'm scared, really I am. Petrified, really.
"Put her down!" I'm shocked by Shelton's outburst. It's a brave thing to do I realize and I'm proud of him. My prid turns to fear as a shot makes my ears ring and the smell of Shelton's blood fills my nose. I can't think clearly anymore. Can't... oh no, Shelton.
"Let me go!" I shout, my voice will probably be raspy for a long time. I struggle, I have to get to Shelton. My pack member is hurt and he needs me. No no no! Don't take me out of the room!
The door closes but the smell of Shelton's blood is stuck in my brain. Branded and tied to the railroad tracks of my mind. I'm so lost inside my own head I barely notice when Blue is taken from me and I barely realize that I've been tied to a table. The red haired lady is back and she's shaking almost as bad as I am.
"M-my name is E-Eliza and I w-will be asking you a f-few q-questions before your d-doctor comes in." Despite her shaky voice the line is obviously practiced. I can smell the fear and pity on her. Fear, pity, sorrow, anger, pain, hatred. The hate and anger, I don't know how I can even tell, is not directed towards me.
"So h-how old are you?" She asks me, her voice shivering almost as bad as the two of us.
"Fourteen." The salty smell of tears permeates the room. She's crying, and she's crying for me.
"I w-will get you out of here, you and your p-pack. I promise, Tory." She stutters before loudly saying "If you don't cooperate I will be f-forced to call security on you, you insolent c-child!"
I nod.
"F-fine. Just don't h-hurt m-my pack p-please!" I force myself to stutter. The woman, Eliza, is shaking, trembling so badly the very air around her seens to be shivering. She continues asking me questions for about an hour before letting out a very shaky breath.
"The doctor will see you now." She says. She grabs my hand and squeezes tightly, tears streaming down her cheeks and apology written in her eyes before she walked out, clip board in hand and moisture clinging to her cheeks. Another man enters and I don't think I've ever felt so afraid or alone when the door falls shut.
There you are. Thank you so much for all the reviews! It's not a crazy big amount but it's more than any of my other stories have recieved for only 6 chapters. Well, I guess now it's 7 chapters... oh well. This is a bit shorter than I would have liked it to be... OK alot shorter, but I did promise to update faster and this is what about 45 minutes gave me and now I have to clean my room or I won't be able to update for a long, long long long long long long long looooooooong time.
