Rin's P.O.V.
I woke up with bright sunlight streaming through my window. I went up and yawned, knowing my hair was a mess. But today, it didn't matter. It was a free day.
Today, I could roam town. Once a month the King let everyone have a free day, even the staff. He was kind and also strict. I was having trouble finding that balance.
I rush out of my room, still with my crazy appearance from the morning. I ran barefoot over the red plush carpet and ran past startled staff members.
My appearance and the smile on my face must have scared them. But I couldn't help the smile from spreading on my face.
I arrived in the dining hall and grabbed a pastry while sitting beside the King.
"What has you in such a good mood?" He asked.
"I don't know." I lied. It had become easier to lie after my life had become a lie.
I finished the pastry and rushed to my room. I grabbed a blue dress, it wasn't anything special, more like something a peasant would wear. I didn't want to stand out.
I brushed my hair and cleaned my teeth. I took a shower and was ready for the day.
I once again took the path that I had yesterday. I put on my costume and made my way to town.
The town was already full of people collecting breakfast or groceries. Today, I would visit Teto. I had only eaten one pastry, so I had room for a baguette.
I walked on the stone path to the tiny building. A beautiful aroma tainted the air and costumers were drawn in by the smell. A line had formed and Teto was working hard.
Tables were already filled with people enjoying their bread.
"Hey, Neru, come help me out." Teto called out to me.
Her pink drills were perfect and her hair matched her eyes. Her hair was almost red, but had a pink hue. Her hair took forever, but she got up early enough to somehow do her hair and bake bread.
I walked past the line of costumers, many who waved in greeting or who said hello. I waved and smiled back at them.
I walked up to Teto and helped her by selling bread while she, along with her assistance kneaded bread and baked it. Once they had the bread in the oven they would make more dough.
So for an hour, I helped Teto until the morning rush died.
She raised her arms in salute."Soldiers, we have survived, once again." She said. Me and the assistant cheered.
"Teto, may I have a baguette?" I asked.
"For your bravery during the war, you may have a free baguette."
Getting into it I nodded and said,"Thank you, Captain, it is my duty for this shop to help out." She handed me a warm baguette and I walked out.
The sun had gotten higher since I had last been out. A cool breeze pushed through my daydreaming about lakes and swimming.
I walked into the pet shop near the bread shop. Gumi, a girl with green hair, was tending to some cats. Oliver, was dealing with costumers. He knew Gumi was better with animals than he was. He had blonde hair and he was very young.
I walked up to Gumi to look at cats. Surprisingly enough, the gray cat from yesterday was in one of the cages. When he saw me, he began to meow.
Gumi tried to calm the cat by letting it, but the cat began scratching at the bars.
"Neru, do something!" Gunk said.
Costumers had begun to be worried. They all looked at the cat.
I opened the cage and lifted the cat out. I stroked its back. It purred loudly. The cat began to fall asleep still in my arms.
Gumi laughed."This cat has taken a liking to you. You should take her. She wants no one else. I'll give her to you for free because she has been a nuisance." Ahh... So the cat was a girl.
"Thank you." I replied. Everyone was being even nicer than usual today.
I decided that later, I would share my baguette with someone to share even more kindness.
"Do you have any baskets?" I asked. She responded by handing me a wooden basket with a pink ribbon on top. Another woven part had been added in so you could shield the item you were carrying from the sun. It had air holes in it though, so it would be perfect.
"Thank you." I said, while putting the cat in the basket.
I got up and left, waving goodbye.
I suddenly realized that I didn't know when to meet the person. Oops. I guess I forget some important things sometimes.
Better early than late. I could wait for however long that I needed for the person to be there.
I walked deeper into town, till I saw the bookstore. When I walked in, the smell of books hit my nose. I had always loved that smell. I was always taking books from the castles library, we constantly got more books because everyone liked them.
Maybe we get the books from here.
Inside the store there was another shop. I place selling coffee and sweets. That's a good way to get business. Sweets and books went great together.
I looked around for silver hair. Sitting at a table reading was Piko.
"Hello, Piko." He didn't seem to hear me for a minute than he looked up. I walked over and sat down in a beautifully craved chair made of a dark wood.
Time for the date to begin.
