Beyond Birthday
This was it. This was the day she was going to die. She slept soundly in Amica's room not even knowing. I was the one who knew, and it burdened me as if the sky was on my back. I was a nervous wreck. I paced the kitchen a thousand times. Sweat made my face damp. My eyes twitched. I held a knife in my hands. I was going to protect her. She was going to live past this day. She had to. I loved her. So many people say that casually but I loved her. I had nothing but her. She was everything. She was my world. I would do anything for her. I had to. I paced around the kitchen more, thoughts running through my head in faded blurs. I had to keep her safe. She was everything. She was everything. Without her I had nothing. Without her I had absolutely nothing. It repeated in my head like a song. Without her I had nothing.
Ding. The doorbell pried me away from my thoughts. My heart began to beat fast. I made my way over to the door slowly. I felt the cold doorknob in my hand, and twisted it with a knife in the other. I swung the door open and placed the knife against the throat of the man on the other side. Fear spread through his eyes. He was a plump man in blue clothing. He looked like…a mailman.
"I-I have a letter." The man said lifting up and envelope.
"I'm sorry, sir." I said, removing the knife from his throat and retrieving the letter from him.
The man scattered away from me and I returned to the inside of the apartment. I figured the letter was probably for Amica, so I put it on the counter. My mouth was dry from nerves so I poured myself a glass of water. I took a long gulp of water and set the glass beside the letter. The black ink caught my eye. In big bold letter it read:
"BEYOND OPEN THIS".
I thought it was a little bit strange that the letter was addressed to me. What if Wammy's House had found us? What if they were going to kill Akin? Before opening the letter I quietly treaded to Amica's room and opened the door. Akin slept peacefully, dark hair covering her face. The blankets were half on the floor, she moved a lot in her sleep.
"I love you." I whispered to her. She didn't respond. She was in a very deep sleep.
I made my way back to the letter. I took the knife and cut the envelope open. A printed paper was folded into three sections. I took the paper from the envelope and unfolded it.
"Acadia Lyndon : Age 16. Eyes: Brick. Hair: Hershey"
The information sheet was oddly specific. It was in the same format as the information files of Wammy's House members. Which was weird because she had just joined two weeks ago and hadn't even stayed there a full week.
"Height: 5"5'. Blood Type: A Positive."
Why would someone send me Akin's information? Who sent me her information? Who knew we were here? I looked at the bottom of the paper and written in the same black ink it said "Turn me over". I turned the paper and something was circled in black ink. I squinted to see it.
"Parents: Anais Lyndon, Hector Lyndon
Siblings: L/Lawliet Lyndon"
L. Lawliet. Lyndon. L.
L.
L.
I blacked out for a moment then the back of my eyelids became white. An image of Akin sitting on the bed all crouched over burned my eyes. L was her brother. She was L's sister. I-I chocked. He was chocking me. Beyond Birthday was climbing through my throat.
NO DON'T TOUCH HER
SHE'S HIS SISTER YOU STUPID PIECE OF SHIT
NO! Beyond Birthday…. Please….I love her…
That was it. The last thing that "Beyond" ever thought…
I love her
(Beyond Birthday's Perspective)
I HAD A PIECE OF HIM. I HAD A PIECE OF HIM THIS ENTIRE TIME. I smashed the door open. The girl didn't even stir. That useless slut. I jerked her upwards by her dark hair and her eyes widened with fear.
"BEYOND!" She screamed.
I held up the knife. "NO BEYOND BIRTHDAY ,BITCH" I yelled as I stabbed her In the heart with the knife. She made a high pitched whining sound and I twisted the knife. She screamed even harder. Blood dripped on my hand and onto the floor. The white rug was becoming stained with tiny blots. She looked into my eyes hoping to find that sweet young boy that she loved, but he was gone. Enveloped by insanity.
Her face turned pale and I dropped her body to the bedroom floor when I realized she was gone. I dipped my fingers into her chest cavity and began to write on the wall with her blood. I had to leave L a message. He would find her eventually. Yes, he would find her. It would pierce his heart the way I pierced hers. Like a knife. I stepped away from the wall and admired my work. In blood stained letters the bedroom wall had a single word written on it.
SHINIGAMI.
