This is just one of those things where I take my/someone else's headcanon and turn it in to a story. (Misha, if you're reading this, I meant to just send this one to you, but then I said "Why the heck not?" and turned it into a oneshot. :3)
Anyway, it's the day before Halloween.
Enjoy~
I can't believe I'm doing this. Ruby Peet was hesitant-he WAS her friend-but at the same time, she was excited. Or maybe that was just adrenaline.
Ruby finished writing the second note and tucked it into the envelope. She set it gently on Agent Brand's desk and snuck out of his office. If she was caught now, the whole thing would unravel. She couldn't afford to let that happen.
"Hey, Ruby!" Someone yelled. "What are you doing?"
Ruby froze and glared at them. It was Hooper, one of the Troublemakers. She had no patience for him. "Why don't you come over here and I'll show you?"
Hooper, oblivious to the danger, grinned and jogged over.
Leaning in close, Ruby whispered furiously. "Look, I'm trying to prank someone, and if you draw attention to me right now, it won't work." She made sure to specifically use the word 'prank', because she knew that it was something that Hooper knew well.
"Ooooh, okay," he said thoughtfully. "I'll just leave you alone then."
He turned to go, but on an impulse, Ruby reached out and grabbed his shoulder. "Wait," she said, quickly scribbled down a note, and handed it to him. "Give this to the Hyena by tonight, ok?"
Hooper smiled and nodded. "For the prank, right?" He gave her a huge wink. "Don't worry, I'll get this to her."
Ruby rolled her eyes. "Remember, it has to be by tonight." She left him and hurriedly exited the Playground. There was still some things she had to do, like buy a disposable camera and contact Ms. Viktoriya.
Jackson Jones rifled through his backpack, looking for his project. He growled with frustration. It's not here! He must've left it at the house. Again. Jackson was about to toss his backpack away in disgust when he noticed a small, white envelope sticking out of one of the pockets. Curiously, he pulled it out and read the note inside.
Jackson,
I dropped by the Playground earlier with the rest of my team. I meant to talk to you about something, but you weren't there, so I left a note with one of your friends.
I'm going to be behind the school at 9 pm on Halloween. See you there?
-the Hyena
P.S.,
I'd really love it if you could dress up as Batman for tomorrow night. Maybe we can get some free candy together!
The letters were unusually straight and even and just perfect in general, Jackson noticed, but that thought faded as he reread the note. The Hyena wanted to go Trick-or-Treating with him?! He didn't care that he had to go as Batman. He'd dress up as Gollum if she wanted him to. But still...This doesn't happen every day.
He went the rest of the day with a happy, slightly idiotic smile on his face, even when Brett teased him for it.
Agent Alexander Brand sighed and sank into his chair. It was barely noon and he was already exhausted. "They don't pay me enough for this," he grumbled, referring to his job as janitor. The kids at the school had somehow managed to break one of the locker doors, cover half of the cafeteria floor in soda and chocolate milk, and some teacher had the wonderful idea of letting her entire class have gum. Agent Brand didn't even want to think about the result. Just looking at it was quite enough.
He scanned his desk for papers requiring his immediate attention. He noticed a small white envelope, and picked it up.
Dear Alex,
I understand that you decided to not dress up for the coming holiday. However, I have found a Batman costume at the store down the road from here that I believe you would look very handsome in. Would you mind trying it on and showing me tomorrow at 9 pm, behind the school? I shall also be in costume, but I will keep what it is a secret until tomorrow.
-Viktoriya Denaprova
Agent Brand read the note again. Was she serious? It was hard to tell. But one this was certain-if she was, it would be incredibly rude to ignore her request.
He grabbed his cane and got up from his chair. Might as well go to the store now.
Well? I think we all know where this is going.
I have no idea why I did this.
LoL,
Riverstone.
