This switches POV's a lot, so sorry for that if it gets confusing.
I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day!
Enjoy~
Jackson tapped the side of the school impatiently. He was here early, just in case the Hyena was also early, but apparently it wasn't needed. It was chilly out, which wasn't good, because the skin-tight Batman suit did nothing to keep out the cold. He sighed and leaned against the wall, wishing that he hadn't decided to come without a jacket; a half hour early, no less.
Agent Brand frowned at his reflection. He looked ridiculous in the oversized costume. Well, maybe it would be over soon. He grabbed a coat and a spare pair of pants before heading out the door.
~.~.~.~
Brand pulled up to the school, glad that it was empty. He doubted he could stand it if any children saw him like this.
He got out and went around the school. It seemed like there was no one there, even though a glance at his watch proved that he was at least five minutes late. "Hello?" he called out into the darkness.
Jackson was huddled up behind the dumpster, trying not to freeze to death, when he heard a voice.
"Hello? Victoriya?"
It didn't sound like the Hyena, but it did sound familiar, so Jackson's first instinct was to jump up and run away, but he decided he was too cold. Also, where he was curled up was actually kind of cozy. So he just sat and waited.
"Anyone there?" It was closer this time.
Jackson realized with a start who it was. "Brand?" He asked, not meaning to say it out loud. Immediately he wanted to kick himself.
Brand froze. "Jackson?" He said, preparing to run/hobble/something to his car.
There was a silent pause, then the rustle of plastic as Jackson came out from behind the dumpster. "Yeah, I guess. Look, I know what I'm doing, and I can explain..." He trailed off, staring at Brand. "What are you wearing?"
Agent Brand ignored the question. "What are you wearing? I know it's Halloween, but that doesn't explain what you're doing here, especially dressed as Batman!"
Jackson looked away. "Well, the Hyena wrote me a note. She said to wear this, and meet her here."
"Are you sure? Because I got a note from Victoriya-I mean, Ms. Denaprova, saying almost the exact same thing."
Jackson frowned. "I-"
He was interrupted by a bright flash of light.
Both of them turned in surprise. Ruby was standing about ten feet away from them with a camera and a rather wolfish grin.
Jackson opened and closed his mouth, but found that he couldn't seem to make words come out.
Ruby squinted at them through her camera, and took another picture. "Done!" She said happily. "That'll show them!"
Brand scowled at her. "What are you doing?" He grumbled.
Ruby tucked the camera carefully into a bag that hung from her shoulder. "Well, you see, I was dared to get a picture of one of you in a Batman costume, but nobody thought I could do it, so I decided to go ahead and get both."
Agent Brand worked his jaw furiously, but nothing came out.
Jackson finally got his tongue to work. "But...what about the letters?"
"Stenciled."
Ah. That made sense.
"So..." he hesitated. "It was a trick? The Hyena and Ms. Denaprova...they're not coming?"
"Well..." Ruby shrugged. "Yes and no. Yes, it was a trick. But your 'girlfriends' are coming. It just wasn't originally their idea. And they don't know that you dressed up for them."
Jackson's eyes went wide, and he exchange a nervous look with Agent Brand.
Ruby just smiled as, laughing and chatting, the Hyena and Victoriya Denaprova came into view.
Hope you liked it! I don't think there's going to be a part 3, though.
