Under the trees, Bella ran as fast as she could towards where she felt her soul wnated to take her. It had never been her intention to be seen, but in that moment she had known what she wanted to do. She had needed to say goodbye and so she had done.
Had she been able to cry, tears would have been streaming down her face, but she had not cried for almost 80 years and it was never going to change.
Her transformation into a vampire had been painful but for some reason, Bella had never gone through the newborn stage, earning a huge amount of control from her first day as newborn. No one really knew why, but it had been a huge relief for them all.
Bella had gotten the opportunity to say goodbye to Charlie and ReneƩ before she and the Cullen's staged her death, blaming that and her transformation on it. Bella had however never gotten the opportunity to say goodbye to Angela, something she had regretted all of her life.
At least until tonight.
When it came to Jacob and the wolves, it had taken her almost 50 years to forgive them, but when she had they had all welcomed her and the Cullen's back with open arms. Still there were some differences between them, but when Rosalie had been allowed to help watch the children one day many years ago, both sides felt that they could put those aside.
This was something which had warmed Bella greatly, both of her families had become one.
Reaching her destination, the world around her changed as the vision which always greeted her when she reached the old meadow came back to her with full force. Her transformation into a vampire had not given Bella her vision back, instead she had returned to the state in which she had been when the spirit had helped her all those years ago, seeing through vibrations and sounds.
To her, it had been a blessing to have her vision back, and she had never cared that her vision through sight only appeared in the very meadow where she had been given life.
Running into the meadow she was Edward standing there waiting for her and the pain in her heart eased as she ran into the arms of her mate, her other half.
Edward hugged her fiercely to him, for not even after all of these years did he want to let her out of his sight, they had been through too much together and too much had happened to his love.
"Did you say goodbye?" He whispered in her ear.
"I did, but she was the last of from my other life Edward."
"I know my angel, I know, but you knew this day would come."
"I did, but still, I feel so strange." And it did, Bella had always known that one day she would be left alone, that her family and old friends would pass on, but now when they had the world around her would be emptier than before.
For a long time both of them simply embraced each other, then Bella looked up at her lover, her life and her soul and she knew that no matter the losses, no matter the pain, what she had chosen had been the right path for her.
She belonged with Edward and for each passing day their bond only grew deeper and deeper, as did their love and happiness.
And it was these small moments that was so precious, no matter how long they existed.
"I think we should join the rest, Esme will die of worry otherwise." Bella finally and at this Edward groaned.
"I do not know if I want to share you just yet." Bella said nothing to argue and when they left the meadow many hours later, Bella knew they would be back, for they always did. The meadow was their haven and nothing would ever change that.
As Bella's sight once more became black, she felt how something materialized in the meadow, taking the form a human being. With a smile this caused a warmth to start spreading in her chest and she knew that Angela's family was not the only one that had someone who watched over them.
