Full Summary: This side series is connected to Sky Series 02: The Guarding Sky - Chapter 48. This is about the final battle between Kudo Shinichi, Miyano Shiho, Kuroba Kaito and their allies against the Black Organization and the Magic Kaito Organization.

Chapter 05 – Explanation Part Two

Shiho winced slightly and her eyes show sadness when Kazuha said that, before she quickly blanked her face. She thought nobody saw her but Shinichi and Kaito saw it. Shinichi and Kaito looked at each other in the eye and agree at something.

Shinichi then looked Shiho in the eyes. -Do not worry about it… they will definitely forgive you after hearing your explanations.-

Shiho nods slightly. -Thank you.-

Heiji sighed at Kazuha. "Do you think that every bad person we came across started out as a bad person? They must have had reasons to become criminals! Shiho-san, please continue…"

Shiho sighed and nods. "Thank you, Hattori-kun. Anyway, APTX-4869 is a drug that was created to poison a victim without leaving any trace of the poison when the victim consumes it. But there was a side-effect as the drug was not completed that only Kudo-kun and I know is that the victims will de-age. This drug has yet to be completed as the main purpose of the drug I was supposed to create was a way to get immortality or to raise the dead. I of course did not want that, but I did not have a choice as I could not escape from the organization's crutches…" and she took a deep breath.

Shinichi murmured. "I am sorry about your sister…"

Shiho nods slightly again and continued her story. "But when Gin and Vodka decided to kill my one and only older sister by sending her to a suicide mission, I draw the line there and immediately stopped working on the drug no matter what. But because I was the head of this particular project and know too much about the creation of the drug, they wanted to execute me but they could not decide who would execute me and chained me to a pipe to decide who. I knew I was going to die soon, so before they chained me to the pipe I managed to hide one of the APTX-4869 and swallowed it once I was alone. I shrink down just like Kudo-kun did and ran away from the organization to a place I knew will be safe, Kudo Shinichi's house. Agasa-hakase found me in front of Kudo-kun's house and the rest is history."

Saguru sighed and covered his eyes. "So that was what that note back then meant…"

Aoko raised an eyebrow at Saguru. "What do you mean by that, Hakuba-kun?"

Saguru folded his hands. "As you know, Ho-chan is my childhood friend. I actually met her under a tree reading a book in a park. When I saw the book she was reading, I decided to become her friend as she seems to be interesting. After each meeting where I taught her how to have fun, we became best friends. But one day when I arrived at the park in order to meet her… the book she was reading when we first met was there instead. I decided to pick up said book as I knew that the book is important to her and a note fell out, the words in the note was 'I am sorry' and I even saw tear marks on it. I was saddened by this and decided to keep the book until I can finally meet with her again."

Shiho nods. "Yes, from young I was considered a prodigy and when I met Sagu-chan, I was already studying in college. It was fun being friends with Sagu-chan as it was too dangerous for Sagu-chan to be seen with me anymore, that was why I left the book that Sagu-chan was familiar with and the note in it. also, in order for the Black Organization not to know where I am after I took the drug and escaped, I changed my name into Haibara Ai and started to live with Agasa-hakase while experimenting to find the antidote for APTX-4869."

Ran and Kazuha were shocked again. "Eh?! Ai-chan?!"

Shiho sighed. "Please do not be so loud."

"Then why are Aoko and Kaito here? We are not related to any of what you both are talking about!"

Kaito sighed and sipped his tea. Shinichi raised an eyebrow at Kaito and Kaito nods.

Shinichi looked at Aoko. "Did you really think I would tell any of this to you if have anyone connected to what I was talking about?"

Aoko paled while looking towards Kaito. "Do not tell me…"

Kaito stood up and went to stand beside Shinichi. "My secret is…" He breathed in while smoke surrounded him and he became Kaitou Kid. "I am Kaitou Kid, nice to meet you."

Those who did not know about Kaitou Kid's real identity were shocked.

Aoko was filled with rage and immediately went to attack Kaito. But before she can reach Kaito, Shinichi stopped her.

Shinichi pinned Aoko down gently. "Wait until you finish listening to Kaito's explanation before you go attacking him because he humiliated your father countless times and does not spend time with you," and he sighed. "Why do you all (Ran, Kazuha and Aoko) act like this when Kaito and I reveal our other identity?"

Kaito took off his hat and white monocle and vanished it. "It is fine Shinichi, please let Aoko go."

Shinichi nods and lets Aoko go. Aoko got up and dusted her clothes while glaring at Kaito. "Explain. Now."

Kaito sighed. "Sure… as I said, I am Kaitou Kid but I am the second one. The first real Kaitou Kid was my father, Kuroba Toichi. Eight years ago, he was murdered…"

Saguru's eyes widened. "What?! The newspaper said that your father was killed because of an accident during his magic show!"

Kaito glared at Saguru. "Do not interrupt me. Anyway, that is just what the newspaper said. I for one knew that my father's death was planned to look like an accident by his murderers… the Magic Kaito Organization."

Shinichi patted Kaito's shoulder. "I have fully investigated about Toichi-san's death. It is indeed a murder case disguised as an accident."

Aoko folded her hands and grumbled. "He is just a thief…"

Kaito's eyes darkened and Shinichi quickly patted Kaito's shoulder as comfort. Saguru looked at Kaito and sighed at Aoko's attitude.

Saguru snapped at Aoko. "Nakamori-san! Why are you being so cold-hearted to him?! Sure, Kid embarrassed your father every time he has a heist, but at least your father still spends time with you! And I am pretty sure Kaito has a reason for becoming Kaitou Kid!"

Aoko was now in tears and Saguru covered his eyes and sighed again.

Aoko sobbed. "B-But tou-san… is always trying to catch y-you… I-I do not really have… t-time to be with him…"

Kaito sighed this time. "Yes, I know. Most of the pranks I pulled on you were meant to cheer you up after all."

Aoko nods. "I-I am sorry… but what about Jii-san? Does he know?"

Kaito nods. "He does, he was originally my father's assistant and now mine during the heists I pulled."

Ran titled her head. "Who is this 'Jii-san'? (1)"

"I will tell you about who Jii is later Ran, anyway please continue Kaito."

Kaito nods again. "Anyway, I officially became Kaitou Kid to lure out my father's murderers when I learned that my father will killed by the Magic Kaito Organization. The reason of why they silenced my father was because they wanted him to steal the Pandora gem, buy my father refused to steal it and so they silenced my father because he knows of their plan."

Heiji pointed out. "So that is why you have been stealing only gems all this time!"

Kazuha raised an eyebrow. "But what is this 'Pandora' gem?"

Kaito hummed and explained. (This is the same explanation as given in Chapter 01's Author's note (4).)

~ After Kaito explained what the Pandora is ~

Kaito and Aoko went back to their seats.

Saguru folded his hands and looked at Shinichi. "And why did you gather all of us here? After all, both you and Kaito have different enemies."

Shinichi sighed and explained what he heard from Gin when he was infiltrating the Black Organization's hidden main HQ with Shiho to get the formula for APTX-4869 but did not tell them who 'Anokata' is yet.

Ran reprimanded Shinichi and Shiho for doing something so dangerous after he finished telling them about the Black Organization and Magic Kaito Organization's plan for Kaitou Kid and the Pandora.

Saguru hummed. "So this is why you gathered us together… you are planning on taking down these two organizations at the same time right?"

"Yes… we will be joined by a few more people in the next meeting, so we will discuss more then. Anyway, since Shiho, Kaito and I told all of you our deepest secrets and I am sure you all need time to discuss about everything we have told you. If any of you want to help us, please come back to this house at the same time and day two weeks from now. Meeting adjourned."

~ Author's note ~

(1) Jii Konosuke has worked as the famous magician Kuroba Toichi's assistant. He also knows of Toichi's alter ego as Kaitou Kid and presumably assisted him in his heists. According to Jii, Toichi made him swear never to tell his son, Kuroba Kaito about his father's secret identity. Because Kuroba Kaito did not immediately recognize Jii, it seems that he may not have been close to the entire Kuroba family or perhaps Toichi wanted to protect Kaito from his Kaitou Kid identity, and thus kept him away from Jii. Jii currently runs a billiards parlour bar called the Blue Parrot.
