Jadyn

I am put in the same room as Skye for goodbye's. Our own room, in fact. It is a tradition to say your goodbye's in the Mayors Mansion. I lay on my bed fiddling with my item. It was already in the room so no one needed to bring it to me. It's a dark gray charm bracelet with only one charm, a silver dove. Skye's item is matching, but her charm has a contraption from before the Revolution. It's called an airplane. The crazy thing is, airplanes flew, kind of like the hovercrafts the Capitol uses to transport new Stock Keepers. I guess that's why she likes it so, they flew in the sky and her name is Skye. My mother finally enters alone. She sits down on the sofa imported especially for this room from District 8 and beckons at us to join her. "I believe in both of you,but either way, I'll see you soon" She's referring to Dad's position. I feel so lucky. "Make friends, choose your team's carefully and do not make enemies. We want to see you alive when this is over." She smiles but I find it hard to return the gesture. Skye looks the same. My father appears, briefly. I assure him that I'll see him very soon and he nods solemnly. I kiss his cheek and Mom's too when Janie Lant appears with Lucas and Xander. "Goodbye, I love you" I whisper, and the door shuts.

Xander looks around and says "Digging your digs ladies!" and gives us a mocking bow. Lucas punches him in the arm and takes my hand. Time has stopped. And then Xander whistles. And I. Don't .Care. The way to the station is well, tough. Cameras swarm like gnats, and try to get a closeup. I flash a smile and hop on the train. The train is normally a luxury for tributes, but as the Mayor's daughters, it's the everyday lifestyle. While the boys gape I politely ask the workers to show me my room. I am taken to a cozy room near the back of the train, where I shower, let my long, blonde wavy hair fall and put on some black ruffled leggings and a blue v-neck that compliments my eyes. Then, I explore.

It isn't long before I find the tributes car, where they encourage tributes to socialize and spend most of their time. It's obvious that these tributes have made friends in the past 12 days. I take a deep breath and walk in. I find a beautiful navy blue couch that reminds me of home and sink in, and do something I do quite well. People watching. I see the Career Pack strut in. Might as well make some friends. I wander around aimlessly for about a minute and "accidentally" bump into a girl from One. Hmmm, medium-short height, sunny disposition, cute brown hair with matching eyes. "I'm so sorry!" I gush. She giggles and sticks out her hand. "Tessa" I shake it hesitantly and say, "I'm Jadyn" Her eyes widen "Like, Jadyn Vala?" I nod. "Cool! I guess I'll see you around!" She exclaims. I want her for my team. She walks back to the Pack and starts talking. Soon, I see that Basil girl whisper something to a shorter girl with wavy, short and dark hair. I roll my eyes and walk away.

I head back to my couch, but it's been occupied. That short, dark haired girl from the Pack is WALKING on it. Weird! "Hey Twelve." she says. I raise my eyebrows expectantly. "Must be a luxury, this train, Huh? Different from the shack you live in, right?" She continues. "Well, if you consider the Mayors Mansion a shack…" I respond. "Oh, stuck up rich gal, are you?" she says with a smirk. "Why don't you ask pincer boy, I'm sure he'll appreciate that later remark!" I retort and stalk away, making sure to flip my hair once or twice.

I find Skye and tell her about my encounter, and how I want Tessa. Skye wants her to. Like sister, like sister.
