But one night, Marceline came to a realization, an interesting one. It occurred whilst they were playing together at the park as they usually did. They had just recently met up & decided to play Killer, a pretty straightforward game where one player tries to pretend kill the other, inspired by the the movie Halloween. However, not long later, Marceline had a mental debate with herself & completely forgot about the game. All the while, her eyes were on Bonnibel, who remained blissfully unaware that Marcy had stopped playing some time ago. There was no longer any room for debate; Marceline had a new priority & although she was unsure of what to make of lt, she knew she would not leave the park unless she asked Bonnibel a question that had been pressing her mind since the day that they first met. Marceline looked down upon the rubber floor mat as though she would not be coming back from this mission, while Bonnibel went up the ladder to a platform, keeping her eyes on Marceline, the Killer. She gleefully approached the Big Slide when Marcy sighed & approached the platform from below. Bonni now noticed her uncharacteristic silence as well as stoicism & gave her curious attention to a Marceline who looked torn between determined & deep in thought. Even as the eponymous Killer, Marceline clearly looked off to Bonnibel.

"Bonnibel?", Marceline practically choked out.
"Yes, Marceline?", she said as she went down the slide to go engage in the conversation.
"I... like you.".

She surprisingly found letting out the words to be easy. The hard part was the thrilling mystery of how Bonni would react.

Bonnie smiled.

"I like you too', Marcy.", she said, without a moment's hesitation.

Marceline realized that Bonni was getting the wrong impression. She knew she had to get her to understand her true intention. She felt powerful emotions whenever she was near Bonnibel & simply had to know lf she was the only one who felt them. Bonnibel was quite beautiful, a petite pink-haired girl, shy & full of curiosity. Marceline couldn't help but admire everything about her. If only Bonnibel felt the same.

"But how much do you like me?", Marcy tried.

She looked confused, not knowing how to respond.

"We're best friends. We get together every night. I like you a lot.".
"Is that all we are, best friends?".

Marceline looked to be unhappy with that prospect, but Bonnibel couldn't imagine why.

"All? What more can there be? What, do you want to be sisters or something? Not that I would mind that. I merely want to understand what you mean.".

The fact that Bonni was willing to consider her family gave Marceline courage. Marceline decided to test her on how she really felt.

"Hey, you got something in your eye.", Marceline improvised.
"I do?".
"Yeah. I'll help you get lt out. Come a little closer.".

And suddenly, they were face to face, Marceline already forgetting the plan. Their hearts were beating fast as they processed the close proximity. Ofcourse, Bonnie blushed again & turned slightly.

"Why do you do that?", Marceline thought aloud.

Since day one, Marceline wanted to know, but didn't know how to ask. Now, lt came out unexpectedly.

"Do what?", Bonni asked quietly.
"Blush around me? Get nervous & turn away?".

It's not that she didn't too'. She just never got caught. She certainly had more tact than Bonni. The air went still as Bonni tried to come up with an explanation to her blunt questions. She absent-mindedly played with her hair & started to seriously contemplate the question. The way she felt around Marceline was inexplicable. And here was Marceline asking her the question that she didn't know the answer to.

"It's just awkward how close we are.", Bonni said quietly, a small smile on her face.
"So, you don't like lt?", Marceline questioned, looking almost dejected.
"I do.", Bonni responded, questioning her responses & the odd new situation.
"Then, come back here.".

She didn't even realize that she backed up a bit.

"Besides, I said I'd help ya with that eyelash.".

Bonnibel's heart was now pounding, but she came close again, now beginning to understand her emotions. She didn't understand how lt became clear. It was foreign & didn't make a lick of sense to her, but she understood lt clear as day now. She found herself staring at Marceline's fair face, oblivious to the inexistent eyelash on her own face. The features of the face in front of Bonni's stood out to her like an exquisite painting. Marceline was a very pretty girl, to be sure, but Bonnibel never really thought about that before & had to wonder: why now? Why was she feeling this way? Marceline was just another girl, so why should she experience such wonderful feelings about her? Little did she know, Marceline was thinking the same exact thing. Whatever the reason, they wanted badly to get as close to each other as possible. Bonni's heart seemed to beat faster each second. The suspense in the atmosphere was fully tangible. As confused as she was at this new development, she eventually decided to act out on her emotions.

Bonni was sweating & trembling, nervous as ever. She closed the distance between them, getting closer than she would normally be comfortable with. But there was an odd sort of comfort in this predicament. Marceline was awestruck, but didn't recoil. Bonnibel found her lips on Marceline's, just brushing them. They paused like that for a time they weren't keeping track of, Marcy's eyes wide open. She never would have thought that Bonnie would return her feelings. The kiss only lasted just over one second, before Bonni backed up, ponderring whether or not she just crossed the line. She stood to the side looking at the ground nervously, holding her arm in her hand & standing uncomfortably, all the while wonderring lf that's what Marcy wanted & lf she liked lt. Marceline's expression was unreadable.

She looked further down as Marcy said, "Okay, I can't believe you just did that. And you know what?".

Marcy rememberred what Bonnie always aspired to be.

Bonnie's face lit up again when Marcy said, "You're my princess." & kissed her back, no brushing the second time around.

It was a beautiful night.
