I'm baaack! Nobody missed Me on my hiatus. :( Oh, well. I'll continue to work smarter & do better. Fun fact: in the original 2011 draft, the story is called Marcibel: You Keep Me Hanging On (named for the song, You Just Keep Me Hanging On. But the title never comes into play.). There aren't any major changes, I only added a lot more. So here we go, chapter seven without further ado.

"You go home & tell your parents. I'll go tell my dad. I wanted us to tell them naturally, when the time is right, but because of that bitch, LSP... Ugh, she ruined everything! Why couldn't she just mind her own buisness & leave us alone?", Marceline shouted at noone, her tone transitioning from ancticipating to disappointed. "How could she hate us that much to do such a thing?".

Bonnie hated to see her so upset & tried to cheer her up. Marcy then found herself no longer able to yell, as her lips were greeted by Bonnie's.

"Wow. That doesn't happen often. What'd I do to desserve this?".

She was right. Though they were very close, they hardly ever kissed. They were still very much unsure of the whole thing.

"What haven't you done? What have you done not to? You treat me well, Marceline. You can kiss me whenever you want.".
"How about now?", Marceline asked, approaching.
"How about you quit fooling around & kiss me already? Or do I have to do all the work?", Bonni asked with a sly smile.
"You had me at... well, when we met.", Marceline responded, giving Bonni her first receiving kiss.

After the kiss, Marceline got serious again.

And so, they parted ways to go home.

'I'm going to do this. I have to. For Marceline.'.

After being dropped off on her block by Marceline, Bonnibel went straight to her house. The guards let her in & she pushed open the large brown doors.

"Good evening, Madam Bubblegum.", said Peppermint Butler. "I sense that there is something on your mind.".
"Yes, Peppermint. I must tell my parents something. I'm not sure lf now is the right time.".
"Nonsense!", laughed Peppermint heartily. "You can tell your parents anything, anytime, Madam Bubblegum.".
"Okay. Come with me?".

Throughout her life, Peppermint Butler, PB as she called him, was her only friend. He was always there for her. She couldn't have asked for a better butler.

"As you wish, Madam Bubblegum.".
'My parents will understand, right?'.

There her parents were, sitting at the huge dining room table as usual.

"Ah, Bubblegum. Glad you could join us.", said her father.
'Is lt weird that they call me by my surname? What was even the point of naming me?'.
"Hello, mom, dad.".

She paused, preparing herself. After a few seconds of silence, she spoke again, trying to be glad that lt was her parents instead of someone else.

"I have something to say.".
'Ah, jeez. Here lt comes.'.
"Yes, what is lt, dear?", her mother asked.
'Just spit lt out, Bonnibel.'.
"I... I... I...".

Their eyes widened as they curiously expected some big news. Their faces still played patient as they waited, however. Peppermint Butler was surprised that she didn't tell him this seemingly important news first; that's what she usually did, afterall. He was becoming just as curious as Bubblegum's parents were. Bonni sighed inaudibly. She knew she had to tell them now or never.

"I have a girlfriend.".

She looked down at the floor as her parents grew bewilderred at the fact that their daughter was afraid to tell them this. Once again, her mother handled the talking.

"Bubblegum. You're twelve now. You know you're old enough to have friends.".

'Dang lt. Why does everyone always assume lt's not what they think lt is? Can't they see that I'm in love... In Love? Am I? Do I love Marceline? She makes me so happy, but she also makes me feel confused. Oh, nobody makes me feel the way she does. I need her, I couldn't begin to imagine life without her. But how am I going to break this to them? This would all be so much simpler lf only she were a boy.'.
"No, mom. I am dating a girl. I think I'm in love with her.".
'You think lt would get easier to tell people, but no, lt's just as hard.', Bonni thought.

Her parents started talking amongst themselves, sounding quite surprised from what she could make out.

Finally she heard, "I'm sorry, Bubblegum. This is our fault. We thought that you were still too' young, but we were wrong. We never talked to you about dating.".

For the first time since the greeting, her father spoke, remaining calm throughout the conversation.

"Girls go with boys, Bonnie, not with other girls. You aren't in love. You're simply having good feelings about your best friend. You just need to talk to some boys. You'll see.".

She felt betrayed, while Peppermint Butler felt guilty for encouraging her.

'They think I'm misguided?! They think I don't know lt's not right?! I know better. Why does everything have to be science with them?'.
"What? I know that. I do talk to boys. My friend Finn asks me out all of the time & I have to turn him down. What Marceline & I have is real. We kissed.. And I loved every second of lt.".
"Darling, two locks are obsolete. Without a key, you can't unlock either of them. Boys are made specifically to fit in the lock. Think about this. You can't have children with a girl. Without me, you wouldn't have been born. You enjoy science. You should know all this. You can't reach tier 15 with a girl. You can't marry a girl. And you certainly can't gain acceptance being with a girl.".

Bonnibel couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"I hoped I'd gain YOUR acceptance. But, you turned against me. Marceline accepts me. Why can't my own parents?".

Her mom looked sad at that, but her dad remained unphased.

"Because, Bubblegum, you aren't serious about this. You're still young. It's clear to me that you're going through a stage. You're seeking attention, but getting lt from the wrong person. I've seen lt all before. Even lf you really do love her, you could never be together. Noone in New York City would accept that. You stay with her & you lose everything. That Finn boy would be upset that you'd rather go out with another girl than him. Your other friends would think you weird. Everyone in school would make fun of you. We would have to move away, away from your friends. Marceline's parents would likely move somewhere else. You'd end up losing her when you could just stay friends instead. And what would we tell the family? Why would you want any of that? This must stop.", her father told her gently.

She sadly looked at the floor, tears beginning to form.

"I'm not saying this to hurt you. You know we love you. But this can only end badly. And we don't want to see that happen to you.".

Bonnibel looked back up at her father. He was right. Nobody WOULD accept them. Everyone WOULD make fun of them. Finn WAS upset, even lf he never showed lt. What sort of future could they have? She looked at his wise, kindly face & saw his sincere expression. He wasn't being controlling. He wasn't judging her. They both were only trying to help her. And lt was difficult not to see the truth in their words.

"Go to her now, Bubblegum. End this madness now before you ruin your friendship & never see her again.".

And with that, Bonnibel left.

What, you thought her parents would accept? Nope. That's just life. Horrible, ain't lt? Will Bonnie listen to her parents & break up with Marceline or will she turn tail & run away with her? Find out in Chapter 8.
